Spoons is always great. I eat there often and regularly take guests. We have never been disappointed. Wide variety of food for all three meals and all of it tasty. Spoons can get a little noisy when crowded. Try The Garage which is attached right behind. Same food but quieter more loungy at night.

Update: I went here for lunch recently and was less than thrilled. For years I ve ordered a scoop of chicken salad for $7.95 and I ask for chips or fruit/veggies instead of saltine crackers. This is how it is still listed on their website: ((Spoons Chicken Salad $7.95 chicken breast with a touch of garlic, red grapes, celery, diced pecan pieces, pickle relish and mayonnaise served with fresh fruit on the side)) They ve always had a larger portion - like a dinner plate, but the small size is perfect for me. This time- I was charged $19.00! I asked for the small portion and told that this is the only way they do it. I was disappointed, but figured it s probably a larger portion. No. Same exact thing, on a larger plate with a boiled egg. $19 for a scoop of chicken salad, a garnishment of fruit/veggies and an over cooked egg. Also, heads up- no more kids menus with crayons. Now it s only laminated ones. - I have eaten here for every meal and every time it s great. The menu is gigantic, which normally means that something suffers, but I have never had anyone in my party be disappointed with their meal. Literally everything is good! They have delicious specialty coffees that are great there in a giant mug (where they sometimes do pretty pictures in the foam) or to-go. They have great desserts on display and mini cupcakes for little ones! (So smart!) The only complaint is that the service is pretty consistently slow. I hate to say that, because we love this place, but it s true. If time is an issue, I would recommend saving it for another time.

I had been here before. I love their cupcakes and had to get one before leaving this time. Jeremiah helped us and he was great! My friend ordered a Smores coffee to go. I dont like coffee, so I asked if he could make me a coffee free version. He did and it was amazing!!!!

Cute place, not the most welcoming service despite not being busy (the waitress seemed inconvenienced and in a rush to sit down), I had to ask for to-go boxes and to-go cups, and the food was pretty good. I wasnt the biggest fan of the butter that came with the pancakes. My son loved his Eggs Benedict, though, and said it was the best he had ever had.

Food was good and everyone was very kind, but they brought our drinks AND food out in waves. Half the table had to sit and wait while the others ate. They tried to blame the small kitchen, but how do they serve a whole restaurant if they cant even serve one table all their food and drink at the same time? Only a table of 5.

Had the breakfast taco. It was offered as either a single large taco, or 3 smaller tacos. I elected the 3 tacos. Served with salsa and potatoes. Only disappointment was the potatoes. Im not sure how they were fried, but it wasnt my cup of tea. Other than that, the meal was excellent. Other members of my family had yogurt with an egg and eggs Benedict.

Gosh, I was incredibly bummed out by the experience we had at Spoons Cafe. My friend and I went here for lunch on a Tuesday. She ordered an omelet and the southern potatoes, I ordered the southwestern salad sans chicken. The salad was good; however, the carrots were just baby carrots thrown in, not even cut in half, the corn was crinkled and dehydrated. My friend s dish had a beard hair or thick arm hair. When we told the waitress she stated she would comp the hair meal. When she handed us the check it was not comped. We had to ask for it to be taken off the bill. That happened fairly early into the meal and these two moms finally getting out of the house couldn t even eat a meal. We had to head home shortly after. All of that being said, I honestly wanted to give it a shot. Hopefully, they get some hair nets and keep the dishes free form hair next time. Parking: There is plenty of parking in Downtown McKinney, but plenty of people too. So just be sure to be open to walking. It s really a great downtown.

Arrived at 11:15am 3/3/24 . The server that greeted me and my fiancé was very friendly and professional. The waitress here are very rude . I was told by a server it was ok to sit at a table outside. The waitress comes up and ask both of us to get up regardless if we have a reservation. I feel there needs to be better communication. I completely understand that during this hour it can be busy . Definitely needs to be more coordination and being polite to everyone. It was not bothering anyone to sit there . Other customers are just standing along with us waiting to sit at any table. This will probably be my last time coming back here .

Party of 15. I called a few days before to see if they could accommodate us. They said they would put us on the list that morning. I confirmed that we were still coming the day before and they texted the morning of to confirm as well. Got there on time, we were all immediately seated - 2 large booths and one high top, which was perfect. Servers were very friendly, got us drinks and took our orders quickly. Good assortment of breakfast choices in menu. Only one minor error when food came. Quickly fixed. Servers checked on us frequently. VERY pleased with how it all worked out. Total bill for 15 not including tip was @$250.

Can get really busy as it is downtown McKinney but breakfast and lunch is perfect. Great sized meals and really good breakfast selections. We love coming down here early weekend mornings for breakfast. I judge a place by its Eggs Benedict and they never fail (yolk never over cooked). Biscuts and Gravy are also a fave and the coffee cup is never empty. It can get busy, and staff/kitchen can a bit overloaded but who is in a hurry anyway?

Took an hour to find a parking spot. Was told 20-25 minutes, had 4 people in front of us. After 35 minutes, they sat 4 groups that came in after us. There were 2 tables sitting empty and when asked, they were saving those for a larger group. The lady up front obviously was sitting whoever she wanted. I expected much better from this place. People should be set by first come not by how many in a party. There was only 3 of us!!

So, now Ive been ordering from the menu they told me to order from; and someone Ive never seen in there before told me, I hadnt been being charged for the extra bacon Ive ordered for 2 weeks or more, but, I have been charged everytime. Im feeling some discrimination from Spo o0ons Cafe in Downtown McKinney from this person Ive never seen before.

To call Spoons a sandwich place or brunch spot would do a disservice. Spoons is as McKinney is: authentically down-home, and yet sophisticated. Anything bread or chicken are bright spots here, with chicken and waffles, fried chicken sandwiches, and garlic bread all winners. Whether you are wanting a country breakfast, an upscale sandwich, or just traditional country cooking, they have it. Perfectly located right on the Square, it is a great spot if you can make it in without a wait.

I have always enjoyed this place in the past and decided to go because although we live in Celina, we used to like Spoons when we lived in McKinnney, but our experience today was terrible. We walked in and there was at least 1 table open that would accommodate my family . We were greeted by and initial person who promptly scurried away and said it would be a couple minutes while they got it ready. While we were still standing there another person came to the hostess desk ti take our name and said it would be 20-30 minutes, so we sat in the waiting area as the only group there. About 7-10 minutes into a group of 3 came in after us and we re immediately sat at the open table . When I confronted what was now a 3rd person at the host stand he fumbled to find an explanation as to why that group was sat before us when we were the only people waiting and they walked right in. No apologies , nothing other than oh he just sat them because he just got there and they walked in. We promptly left and got great service and food across the street at Cadillac pizza. Won t be back for a good long time.

I ordered the breakfast taco which was delicious and huge, but my wife ordered a hamburger and fries.I love a hamburger for breakfast and instantly after tasting her burger I knew that I should have ordered that. It was by far one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. If I had any recommendations, I d recommend adding hash browns to the menu. Great job Spoons! Hostess was very rude but our waitress was very friendly. $40 for two modest breakfast plates is very excessive considering the quality of the food. There are much better options (and better hosts)

Wonderful Service, waitress was a sweetheart. Chicken fried steak was tasty and delicious and the sweet tea was just delightful. The atmosphere was roomy and cozy like home. Nice walk around outside when youre finished. Dont forget to take home a piece of the pie, literally.

I m not sure why this place has such great reviews. Walked in and the host sat us by throwing our menus on the table as he walked away to go loudly gossip. After waiting 10 minutes (we were the ONLY people seated inside and all the servers were sitting together towards the back of the restaurant) we finally were addressed by a waiter. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. Each plate was brought out and tossed onto our table without a single word being said to us. While waiting for our food 2 servers were sitting at the front host stand (directly next to our table) and talking LOUDLY, and were taking selfies and catching us in the back of each of them, which was not nearly as rude as when they both stood up to roll up towels and start hitting each other with them LITERALLY 2 feet from our table. Definitely the worst costumer service we ve ever experienced, and the food was horribly inedible. I would not recommend this place to anyone, at least until they teach their employees decent customer service.

A cool cafe with comfort food. However their flavors were sadly nothing out of the world. Their meatloaf sandwich is just alright. While the ham it up was good, it was not filling and you have to get an appetizer or a large side to fill you up.

Nice spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I had the not so simple breakfast which means you pick everything you want. The omelette looked good too! I want to go back for dessert. Everything looked delicious. Service was wonderful.

Cute little restaurant. The service was sub-par, but I did do it on a very busy day. The food absolutely made up for it. Everything was delicious and priced just right. The chicken fried steak sandwich had fresh ingredients, and the cream gravy was very good. Parking: The parking lot is located across the street

Just had a cheeseburger, it was well made and tasty with fresh toppings. Liked the French fries, they were different, sort of like wedge fries, then sliced thinly.

Service was slow. Sat 15 mins before server came. Ordered everything at once. Burger and fries came out before my iced tea did. Had to ask for a straw and the straw i got was closed at one end. Went in on beer walk day. Everywhere else was packed but i found why Spoons wasnt.

My wife and I are scouring the metroplex for the best breakfast date places, and Spoons is one of our favorites. The Chicken & Waffles is my personal favorite, with the chicken being perfectly seasoned and the waffles deliciously fluffy. My wife had the biscuits and gravy, and enjoyed them. I came back for another visit with my son (who is a very picky eater), and he had the Chicken Fried Steak and loved it, too.

I went there to have a late lunch. My rueben sandwich was good, as it was nice to get a sandwich with all the ingredients and not have soggy bread. The cafe was busy, yet my waitress paid attention to me. People have said this place is nice, and I agree. Wheelchair accessibility: Available
