My spouse and I had an emergency come up hours before the workshop we signed up and paid for. Not looking to cancel or get a refund, but looking to reschedule to a different day and whoever we spoke to wouldn t allow us to move to a different date. They told us they hope we figure it out and can make it to the class. We understand the cancelation policy and wouldn t want it to affect the instructor, but asking to just come on a different date after spending $160 seems like a reasonable ask.

Such a great place. My daughter and I had Jennifer as our teacher for a couple of hours. She was fantastic! She was fun, informative, and helped rescue me when I needed to center my clay. We cannot wait to see the final results in a few weeks. Thank you, Jennifer!

I wish I could give 10 stars to this beautiful art place. My daughter absolutely loves Miss Wendolins camps and attended nearly all of them this summer. Under Miss Wendolins patient and amazing coaching, my daughters fine art skills, creativity, and innovation have blossomed. We are so grateful for the impact Miss Wendolin has had on her. We will definitely be back in the fall. A heartfelt thank you to Jay for helping us choose the best coach and summer camps for our daughter. This experience has meant the world to us.

This is great place for all types of art as it has several options for my daughter and has various options for adults as well. My daughter has been going there to take Iwonas painting class regularly for over 3 years now and my daughter loves going there. Her art work now has won her several awards at school( ISD) and other art events. We have taken pottery classes as family there and it was a blast. The ambience and character of this place is amazing and has home feel. I highly recommend the art house for any one deeply passionate about any type of art form. Initial review:2018 Updated 2024

It is a very quaint studio.I have taken pottery class here as well as Drawing and painting classes along with my son. Location is also very convenient in the heart of historic downtown McKinney. The teachers here are very down to earth , I believe because they are all independent.Highly recommend it and you have a lot of art class options to choose from.

We had our daughter s birthday party at the McKinney Art place and kids couldn t stop talking about it. Weather was great and so it was extended to outdoors next to pottery studio and so we also got a tour of the new pottery place. They have everything at this place and highly recommend for anything Art. We are looking to have a pottery party here sometime soon when it works out for our family! Great place .

Wendolin Mercado is absolutely amazing! My son took her leather and metal camp and said it was the best camp he has ever taken. She was patient and supportive with my son. He absolutely loved working with her. She is truly a wonderful artist and amazing person! I highly recommend!

Art Camp/Metal Art Camp - My son just finished the Metal Summer Art Camp and loved it! He s taken many classes from Wendolin and has loved all of them, but this might be his favorite so far! He got to make so many cool things and use so many neat tools! He already can t wait for the next camp later this summer.

My child had the best time at Harry Potter Art Camp. They got to hold a snake, catch dementors, race homemade bugs, play quidditch, get sorted, make potions, make wands, and make a potion book. It is well worth the money. Miss Wendolin was a fantastic teacher. We have done this camp twice in consecutive summers and there are different projects each time.

McKinney Art House has easily become our favorite place to camp. My girls (ages 7&9) took Pottery Camp with Ms. Wendolin - they absolutely LOVED it. Camp runs from 9a-3p and even showing up 10 minutes prior to pick up, my girls do not want to leave, literally asking my husband and I to let them finish out their last 10 minutes. This pottery camp is not your run of the mill camp - its truly hands on learning on a wheel where they create beautiful projects (Mom & Dad both aiming to earn the cereal bowls that the girls have made LOL). Aside from the learning, working with their hands, having messy fun and making new friends, their teacher Ms. Wendolin has made them feel so comfortable and has given them a real sense of belonging. The camp kids are able to enjoy the courtyard, have popsicles on a swing and really feel like they are a part of the camp, not just attending it. I honestly cant say enough great things, the proof is really in the fact that weve signed up for more camp weeks because they love it so much and dont want to leave. As a parent, Im super grateful that my girls have found a place to be creative & be themselves.

Wendolin s Glow Metalworks: Sand Casted Silver Art class is such a fun, unique and interesting way to create handmade fine silver jewelry. Wendolin provided all materials and taught us well her teaching method is clear, encouraging and fun. She jumped through hoops the entire time to ensure that our group of 8 adult friends came away with new jewelry we love and will be proud to wear. And we made it ourselves!

I absolutely love this place. Its become so near and dear to my heart. Ive been a studio potter here for over two years and have never regretted a single moment. Im usually a night owl, so 24-hour access as a studio potter has been a life saver. However, anytime I can show up during the day is always a treat. Everyone is super friendly and always interested in what new tricks and techniques others are trying and, vice versa, willing to share their knowledge unreservedly (especially any of the instructors). The community atmosphere is something Ive rarely seen anywhere else and has been invaluable in my growth as a creative. One afternoon spent in the company of other potters is worth far more than a week of spinning my wheels alone at 1am. My memories and experiences at the Art House are those I wouldnt trade for the world. If youre looking for a good time to pop in and check the place out, I highly recommend attending the annual McKinney Art Studio Tour (MAST) or, of course, scheduling a class with any of the instructors (trust me theyre all amazing).

This is a hidden gem. The artist are not only local but very talented. There is a strong community of artist here. They offer an array of classes for everything from painting to pottery for children AND adults. Its great for beginners or experienced artist. I LOVE the McKinney Art House.

I took a fun pottery wheel class. I enjoyed it so much. The instructor was so great and super helpful. I would definitely recommend the come clay with me class. Even if you ve never done a pottery class before the instructor is so great you will be successful. The price is also really affordable at $75 for 2 hours of fun.

We love Miss Wendolin s art class! This is our first year homeschooling and this is my daughter s favorite activity of the week. We drive an hour each way every week for this class, but it is worth it. Ten out of ten would recommend!!

My son has taken classes with Wendolin for the past 4 years, and he looks forward to his class each and every week. He has learned such amazing skills: things like leather work, soldering, and even glass blowing with candy. Better than any skills he s learned, though, is the way that Wendolin truly takes an interest in him as a person and is always his biggest cheerleader. We took an intro pottery class with Mary and she was SO supportive of neurodivergent learners. She helped us using directions we understood, was funny, giving us positive feedback even when we were unsure, and gave us amazing tips. The energy was so inviting and soul-fulfilling. We loved it so much! Went to dinner afterwards and it made the perfect evening. Pro tip: make sure to wear clothes you re okay getting clay on. We took off our shoes but I got clay on my pants. It washes off with hot water, but just in case you re wearing something extra nice. Thank you, Mary!!

My friends and I went to the NYE pottery night event and had a blast with the 2 hr course, decor, drinks, and snacks provided in the studio. My group has no experience and it was a large learning curve for us - we needed a lot of attention. Mary was very patient and willing to help fix errors during the process. Overall we had a great time and we look forward to coming back again. One feedback I would add is to provide small reminders during the actual hands on event.

This art studio is amazing! It has grown to become an art village -besides the artists areas it includes a lovely and enchanting area to sit, relax and reflect. The range of classes, camps and workshops are all geared to meet the needs of so many budding artists of any age. I enjoy teaching the Come Clay With Me on Saturdays because I meet a new group of people all wanting to learn and have fun playing in dirt. Excellent! Wendolin Mercados Hands on Art class at McKinney Art House exceeds my expectations. Wendolin has created a welcoming environment where young students can learn how to safely use hand tools, glue guns, found objects, and more to create unique projects each week. She is an engaged teacher and artist, evidenced by last weeks amezaiku candy project that was carefully researched (over some years!) and thoughtfully shared with the students. Our child is eager to attend class each week, and I, too, am eager to see what they have explored at the end of each class. Wendolins Hands on Art class is exactly the class that we hoped to find.

This was my first time ever working with pottery and I arrived a bit early- Ms. Mary put me to work helping shape the clay to prepare for the class! I have been trying to find a passion/hobby that excites me and I was so pleased with the pace of this class and the instruction that Mary provided. Shaping the clay was way harder than I expected and my hands are still sore but I enjoyed it so much! I can t wait for the next class!

I had the best time while taking a pottery class with Mary today. I was a bit nervous because it my first time taking a pottery class but she was encouraging, kind and filled with knowledge. Me and my boyfriend took a pottery class for our anniversary and it was our first time every trying to make pottery. There were 5 other people that took the class with us. What a great time we had at the McKinney Art House! Wendolin graciously invited not only our Oxford Grand Assisted Living residents but also our Memory Care residents out to hear about the McKinney Art House. Awesome art school! Feel lucky to have discovered Cate Robbins, art teacher extraordinaire and enjoy every class there. She is not only an amazing artist and teacher, her classes are almost therapeutic because the atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxing. I was told for years that I couldn t draw and truly was only able to draw pretty much stick figures before I started classes here. Cate told me to ignore what I d been told in the past and that she could teach me the skills I need to learn to draw. She truly delivered and I am drawing like I never believed I could. She tailors her classes where every student in the class can pursue their art interests. She wants to teach you what you want to learn and does it beautifully in a group setting. I can t thank her enough for the art education she continues to provide every week. I ll attach what I have been able to accomplish since starting with her last spring.

Art teacher (ivana) shamed and scolded my brother in front of our mom. He views art as a form of therapy and something to relax him and was left with a bad taste in his mouth. He left feeling embarrassed and sad. How are you supposed to nurture a child s creativity and imagination by crossing the line and disciplining and scolding a child when their parent is standing right next to them. Also brought up financial arrangement with my ten year old brother when that stays between adults. Will not be coming back. Plenty of other art studios.
