They charge a 15% gratitude for them to bring you the food and provide you a soda can drink and not refills. We end up paying almost $20 tip. I would understand servers making round trips to refill. Small single layer tortilla with okay filling and have to pay an extra dollar for the beans. I am an out of town person and I do not recommend this place.

I do not recommend this to impatient people. This was by far my worst experience here. I have been here before and it was way better than it is now. The slow service was excruciatingly painful. It took about an hour and a half for them to make ONE simple burrito. The worst part is, there wasnt a single person in that place but me. I guess that says a lot about this place. I recommend some place else but this restaurant. I cant believe I am even calling this place a restaurant. This experience will forever haunt me in my dreams.

I recently ordered takeout from here. The birria tacos were excellent, but the corn tortillas for the bistec tacos fell apart as soon as they were picked up. Additionally, I was charged a couple of dollars more than the quoted total due to an undisclosed service fee. Overall, the food was good, but these issues affected the experience.

Got here at 11:30 am for an early lunch. Zero crowd. Great service, quick delivery. Delicious Tacos and frijoles. Very simple dinning, paper plates, plastic utensils Styrofoam cups, that did not take away from the Delicious tacos. Will be back again.

The food is good, affordable prices, the first attendant was very attentive, but I asked for 2 takeout orders and they only gave me one, so my chilaqiiles arrived all watery in Brownsville, and I had to tell the boy several times about my cutlery, he told me He brought a fork, I asked him for the knife and he told me: no, I dont have one, I told him well go to the kitchen to ask and then he comes out, yes, there is one here, and we only had 2 people eating..... I miss the 75 cent taco Tuesdays. I really do. I would order a lot more if they had it, but now I have to dial it back. But its okay. Im actually spending less now than before, so win-win, I guess. The food is great. My girlfriend has been looking for a great taco place and we finally found one. Shes picky because she wanted something closer to real tacos from home. She gives the stamp of approval and we come here like once a week. So often we recognize the staff. We dont talk, but we always see the same waiters there. They are great and super courteous. You cant go wrong with any of the taco specials they have. Ive tried some new ones and always been happy. I will say, though, that sometimes the lemons they give you can be a little dry or you may want a few more, but if you let them know, they are always quick to get you some more. The parking lot may be a little bumpy, but trust me, as you leave, youll be a happy, well-fed person. The meat is amazing. Try the pastor with some pineapple. Its the bomb. Parking: its in the empty lot next to them but there are some large holes and if there is a car parked on the street carful when getting out because it can obstruct your view. the empty lot shares a wall wit the back of flying walrus so it has some good music as you go in and out.

The trompo and cecina tacos are very delicious, the roast potato with fajita is very delicious, the place is very nice but if it is necessary to ventilate the area so that the smoke from the meat does not accumulate, one leaves the place smelling like tacos and the pozole is very salty . The service was amazing! The place was clean, but a bit hot. The birria tacos I got were so good! My husband got the Banderillas de bisteck y trompo and it had so much oil. My daughter got tacos de bisteck and it was DRENCHED in oil . My other daughter got the chicken tenders and it tasted like it was out of a bag, my little girl got a burger and it was sooooo good! My recent visit to taqueria el matador left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Despite arriving before others, we were ignored by the waiter who prioritized tables that arrived after us. The slow service was exasperating, especially during our precious lunch hour which was squandered away in anticipation. The blatant disregard for customers time and the lack of attention from the staff were unacceptable. This experience has left me with no desire to ever return to taqueria el matador. I believe it s crucial for the management to reflect on these issues and consider making changes. A restaurant s success relies on providing not just good food(which we didn t try because we never got service) , but also excellent service. Sadly, taqueria el matador fell short on both fronts during my visit. I sincerely hope they take this feedback to heart and make the necessary improvements for the sake of their future patrons.

Dont go! The tacos are terrible. We ordered bistec & pastor..on corn .it was lukewarm...tortillas were semi hard dipped in oil. I didnt get the pineapple that is supposed to come with al pastor and we ordered a side of charro beans...suprise..suprise.. also lukewarm and rancid tasting. They also charge for beans extra.. its a typical small Styrofoam cup. They also had no papa asada. El Matador..will really be a matador to your expectations. Dont do it..save yourselves

The taste of the tacos we had was great. The tacos are quite small and a bit pricey for the size and amount of meat. The aguas frescas are ok but a bit too sweet and a bit water down....at least the pineapple was. Parking: If you have anyone in a wheelchair, you will find it best to park on the street. There is only one wheelchair accessible parking in the parking lot and it is not paved (gravel); it makes it difficult to push the wheelchair.

The Suadero tacos are delicious, and on Thursdays these tacos are $0.70 each. Sometimes the portions are good others so so, but overall they have really good tacos. - Bad experience because first the waiter was trying to charge one of my friends for an extra soft drink, even though we reiterated that he was wrong. - They charge a percentage for payment by card, very bad. Actually when they take you the ticket you can only see extra fees and extra fees, if it is not for the service charge it is also for card charges, I understand that if it is a table of more than 6 people they charge the service charge but not when the tickets They are all separate. - This is the first and only place Ive been to that has charged me for a glass of water!! I went to dinner with my good friend, we went to the Taqueria El Matador. It is located on Bicentennial just 1 block south of Business 83. The place was like stepping into a time machine and being transported back to the 70s or early 80s. It reminds me of the types of restaurants that were the norm back then in the RGV. Even the tables took me back, anyways, we ordered our drinks, they didnt have unsweetened tea so I settled for a diet coke. My friend ordered the Jamaica tea that is ubiquitous here in the RGV. I ordered the Trumpo tacos and a baked potato, I also ordered a cup of beans but I never received them. My friend ordered the Pozole and the synchronosada taco. My tacos arrived and they looked real good were delicious, they came with diced pineapples, grilled onions, and chopped cilantro on the side. There were three different salsas in bottles to choose from, the usual green and red, and there was one red that was really mild and lighter in color. The lighter one wasnt as good as the other two. The baked potato, I ordered with butter and sour cream only. I liked that the potato came with tostada chips, this was a first for me, and I enjoyed scooping my potato out with them. My friend wasnt too crazy about his Pozole, he ended up taking it to go. He really liked the Synchronosada taco, he gave me a piece and it was cheesy good. All in all it was pretty good but not great, but the portions were good for the price. Would I recommend it, yeah, but stick to the tacos.

Well only positive thing about it is the cheap tacos during their Taco Tuesday special. There wasnt another customer there when my group was eating, so that tells you something. Then, they took long to bring my food, and it turns out they got the wrong order and the waitress blamed it on the cooks, but I know it was her fault. Ive waited about 35mins for my 2 orders of tacos to go. Tripitas were good; warm, because i wanted them doradas but el pastor was cold. Environment is clean. But restroom is gross toilets couldnt be flushed.

It is been the worst experience and worst of all the food was soo bad and they charge you for fresh water it was just a horrible experience, The tacos we got weren t even filled properly the onions were slimy The torta we got was just random meats chopped up into it not even layered or anything but potato we got it was all right but they didn t even put the meat we ordered on it

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU PAY!! This is the 2nd time they accidentally charge me more. The cochinita pibil tacos are $0.75 each on Sunday and they just tried to charged me regular price, last time they charged me an exrra order. They always mess up my order or bring me cold tortillas. Not to mention the tacos BARELY have meat at all, this was okay when thy used to be 50 cents, not acceptable anymore.
