Loved the food. The tacos were amazing... the street corn was also amazing... clerk at the register was having a very off day and messed up our order and seemed to get upset when we asked for the food to go after she started placing everything on a tray. I would go back and try it again, only bc the food was really yummy.

I have eaten in many velvet taco locations but today got worst taco ever. Maybe the person making it does not like his job or does not know how to assemble a taco. Went in for a take out today 8/21/2024 order # 30 ordered 3 veg tacos #4 #5 and #6.5 time 12:33pm. The paneer taco had just two pieces of paneer in a flour tortilla and nothing else. No garnishing no sauce. It was definitely a sorry excuse for a taco. I have picture to prove it. #velvettaco #velvettacolubbock went near the university location! Look at the picture attached.

My wife and I are traveling through on our way to NM. One of the best fast-food experiences weve had in a while. Interesting taco restaurant! They have a large variety of tacos that are very unique. The tacos were pretty good. You could see the staff works really hard and they did a great job. Really enjoyed their queso, it also has a unique flavor unlike places I ve been to before. The star of the show, for me, was their red velvet cake. It was so delicious! Definitely give them a try if you are looking for something new.

If there was ever a place to eat, it s here. Velvet taco is hands down, by far, one of my favorite spots. The creative combinations and interesting takes keep the menu fresh and exciting. They have a really good cauliflower taco! The cheese sauce isnt my personal favorite flavorwise, but it was creamy, had a kick, and was a very decent size, as was the bag of chips. I will come back to try the other tacos! The employees were very nice and patient.

I m pretty sure those two tacos I had today were the best I ve eaten. I don t mean to be too controversial, but I think the food here is better than Torchy s. It doesn t have the same atmosphere - it s a little smaller and more casual - but the flavors are off charts amazing. Service was also great. The guy taking orders was friendly and helpful.

We were in Lubbock recently visiting family and looking for a good place to go to for lunch. My wife found Velvet Taco online and it looked tasty so we decided to give it a try. We re now Hooked!! Wow!! Excellent unique tacos and dips and chips and adult beverages too!! We had our fur babies with us as well and they were spoiled by our server with dog treats. We sat outside in the covered patio. An overall tasty experience and one that we plan to revisit time and time again trying out more of their unique menu items. Some of the best tacos Ive ever had. Ive never seen a taco menu like this which includes both regular tacos as well as unexpected types like chicken tikka, fish and chips, or chicken and waffles tacos. I got a 2 taco plate with rice, a drink, a chicken tikka taco, and a mexi-cali shrimp taco. All of the food looked and tasted great, and I felt like I definitely got enough food for my money. it was fast to order, fast to get out food and it was nice sitting outside on the shaded patio with music playing on the speakers. I will definitely be back here again many times in the future. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten-free options and they prepare things properly when asked so there is no cross contamination. I went with two people who have celiac and neither had any issues from eating here.

Ordered online for pickup. 2 tacos, queso and a regular sangria margarita. Arrived 10 minutes before pick up time and food was cold. Margarita was way too small for as much as they charge for them. This place is great! Ive ordered catering from them twice now and each time it was so easy. They were able to apply a tax exempt form with no problems and had the food waiting for me both times (even letting me order very last minute with only an hour warning). Usually if someone orders in the drive thru they have them drive around if another car comes. There were already 3 cars waiting and they let the car wait at the window. Had to wait in drive thru for over 15 mins to pick up my food. Now the tacos- corn tortillas are soggy. Update: I have changed my review. We started our order off with the chips & queso which are delish. I had the chicken and mac & cheese taco. For a picky eater like myself, it was challenging finding something that didn t contain a few things that I would want to omit. My husband ordered the number 11.5 and said the steak was cooked perfectly and it was well seasoned. The tacos are about $4-5 each and so depending on how many tacos you want, the price can really add up. For our 3 tacos and order of queso, it was about $30. If you re in a hurry, I d recommend ordering from the app. It doesn t take long to get your food, but in rush hour, I can see it taking a bit longer.

I cant give a perfect score. But this is the best place in Lubbock hands down for non traditional or fusion style tacos. The menu is wild in the best of ways. It has a revolving selection of fresh new ideas. The quality and quantity for the price is the best. If youre a fan of fuzzys or torchys, they pale in comparison. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grilled salmon taco was delicious, the pork Cuban taco was alright but I wouldnt order it again. The red curry coconut queso tasted good. I would not recommend the ranch water, it tasted like Zima, which is not a flavor I would like to remember. Overall the place was nice and clean, food was served quickly. Its a little pricey for a couple tacos and some queso, but Id go again.

I really like this place, the tacos are delicious and the ingredients are great. The only negative thing I can say is that I didnt like the corn tortilla very much, it is very hard and breaks very easily, I advise you to change it for a flour one and that way you will enjoy your taco better. The red velvet cake is delicious, you have to try it.

This was our first time ever eating here and came back 15 minutes later for more. Service was fast, friendly, and top tier. Restrooms were spotless and lobby was impeccable. Levi is an AMAZING employee and gave us an great first impression. He stayed busy cleaning in between orders as well, which is hard to come by these days. 10/10 experience with little to no room for improvement. If a perfect restaurant experience exists this was it.

Employees were very friendly, food was ready pretty quick. The food was excellent. Had the rotisserie chicken taco, pork and shrimp egg roll taco, and brisket nachos. All very good. Ill definitely be back.

This is my first time coming to Velvet Taco, and I can say without a doubt I received the best customer service ever! Collin, the manager at this location, was very friendly and helpful! I will definitely be coming to Velvet Taco instead of Torchy s from now on. I will be recommending this location to all of my friends and family. I highly recommend coming here.

We were staying at the Overton hotel and decided to have a walk about. We found the Velvet Taco and with a name like that, who wouldnt like to get in there see how things taste? (Wink) Seriously, I have to say the tacos were unique, tasty and filling. This Velvet Taco was having summer music series and regrettably we werent able to stay long enough to attend one...this restaurant serves alcoholic beverages so that would have been a cheap evening out. Maybe next time!

Stopped in late night after flying in from Florida for the weekend game. Walked over to Velvet Taco. Even though they were about to close (generally the worst time to go to a restaurant...everyone wants to go home) I was greeted enthusiasticly by an employee still happy to be there at 11:40pm....honestly the service was so cheerful it shocked me....simply outstanding. He took the time to explain the menu (Ive never been there before) and make suggestions. I ordered two tacos: brisket and flank steak. Both were outstanding and well prepared even as they were closing the kitchen. Ingredients were still fresh and bright and the meat wasnt overdone even at closing time. Very,very impressive food and service. My highest rating!!!

I tried my first ever taco in Lubbock, and completely in love with them! Very humble & friendly service, our order was misplaced but they fixed it with compensation within 10 minutes Their tacos are also tasty, the Maxi-cali shrimp taco is a must try!
