We arrived to a pretty good wait at 5:30 on a Friday which is to be expected. Once seated, Mia, our waitress was very attentive and took our order very promptly. Food arrived in a decent amount of time considering How busy it was. However, our chicken fried steak was burned and tough, and the rolls were very dry and hard. We never complain about food, and we ve been here a half a dozen times and always had a very good meal, not sure what happened this time.

We ve been to Triple J s several times now, and always have a good experience. We went on a double date this past weekend, and had some really enjoyable food. Emma was our server and she was delightful, helpful, and attentive. The cactus queso blanco is a family favorite! We are fans of queso in general lol but this is something special. It s white spinach queso with a bit of a kick, served with fried wontons. Delicious. The wontons really make this dish unique, are always crispy, and even harder to stop eating than tortilla chips. Between the 4 of us, we tried a bit of everything, beer sampler, miss kitty kat ribeye, Lila s honey pepper ribeye, chopped steak, and chicken tenders. My husband left with a growler of one of the local beers (I don t drink beer so have no more to offer than this). The steaks came out perfectly cooked, the honey pepper ribeye was sweet and spicy, but not overbearing. Both people also said they enjoyed the chopped steak and the chicken tenders. We also enjoyed wedge and house salads, sweet potato fries, sweet potato custard, mac and cheese, French fries, and baked potato. The wedge salad stood out for me, there were tons of toppings (candied nuts, craisins, blue cheese crumbles, bacon), and the single cup of dressing was just enough to coat the complete the salad. The restaurant is well themed, with lots of decorations for talking points throughout the meal. It is a large restaurant but it can get crowded, so it is always a good idea to make a reservation. They do have an outdoor patio, as well as bar seating inside. Overall, Triple J s is a fan favorite and we will definitely be back on our next visit!

Busy evening we chose to go- was told 2 hr wait- and were assured they would text us. After an hour and 45 min we just checked in on our table and were then seated good timing??? Maybe Good service and good variety of choices. Fried green beans were suggested to me from a friend and they were indeed good- definitely above average!!! Chicken pot pie was delicious- super rich and filling! Was disappointed in the mac and cheese but it wasn t bad. Good salads with the meal as well. Parking can be challenging on a Sat night but worth a brief walk- currently complicated by current road construction.

Our server and host were fantastic!! Our food was beyond bland. We got a meatloaf that tasted almost like Ketchup. A steak that was cooked as asked but only tasted like peppercorn. Mashed potatos and creamed spinach had no flavor at all. Our toddler preferred the broccoli over the kids pizza. They were out of nearly every beer. Again, our server was great he tried making it right and genuinely cared. but the manager is in a bad mood and couldnt be bothered to come to us. I had to ask to speak with the manager, Kim, myself on our way out. I explained that i wanted to bring it to her attention so they can possible consider it for the next customer and we didnt want to try anything else because the wide variety we got was bad and didnt want to waste more food. All she could say was well next time let us know. She didnt care. Again though, the kitchen staff seemed friendly and the servers/hosts were wonderful! I wouldnt have made a review had it not been for the managers lack of response. $71 (plus the well-deserved tip) for a single bite to be taken out of each item. Absolutely not worth the money or our time. It does a disservice to Texas steakhouses.

The atmosphere of this place is super cool. It bleeds Texas. Service was really good and our food was pretty good too. I thought the prices were perfect considering the economy. I Got the 16 oz ribeye, medium with mash taters. It came out very rare but the mash taters were awesome. They took it back and brought it back to me perfectly. Perfectly seasoned with excellent char. Fried green beans were awesome. I dont know if they Make their own ranch dressing but whatever ranch dressing they was using was super super good, probably the best Ive ever had. Definitely give the place it shot! Everything was really good tho

I already talked to the manager 1st and foremost. The menu hasnt been updated since b4 2020, so that being said. I was looking for whatever and found a good thing in my price range, but come to find out it wasnt what was quoted on the menu, which is false advertising. I brought it to their attention and they recommended something else at the same price. Needless to say. I walked out, because Im on a very tight budget. ATM. Just wanted something quick healthy and fairly inexpensive. I will come back when I have more $$$ it smells great in there. Atmosphere was authentic and the staff was friendly. Just wish they could have accommodated me for the misunderstanding. Wish in one hand and ...

3.5 stars. There s quite a bit to say about this place. I like how it s a steakhouse but not quite as pricey as the fine dining ones. The concept is cool and the environment is cool. In October, the have really amazing pumpkin cheesecake. It s homemade, and might be the best I ve ever tried in my life. They have quite a solid selection at the bar too. They re always lively and busy. Now, on the other hand, their steaks are wildly inconsistent. I think that may have something to do with how thin they are. A steak ordered medium rare can come as rare or as well done, you never really know. A lot of the other dishes are pretty sub par too. They re really only known for their steaks for the most part. Another thing I have to note is that I often notice them treating their employees pretty poorly. I m pretty sure there s not even an employee discount if they re not on the clock, and on the clock it s only like 10% or something like that and it applies to everything but the steaks. That s pretty lousy if you ask me. There was also an older lady as hostess that was pretty lousy at keeping track of which groups came first and which ones didn t. Although I can t say if she s still around this was a few months ago. I tried this place quite a few times before creating my review to make sure I got as accurate as I could, since the pros about this place are great and the cons are pretty extreme as well. In conclusion, I d say this place is relatively pretty solid for a town like Lubbock, but in the big picture of restaurants and steakhouses, slightly above par.

Reserved a table for valentines day. The bread and appetizer lead to high expectations. What was brought out for an entree plus sides was beyond disappointing. I ordered a Jumbo Joey plus the 4 cheese mac n cheese and parmesan crusted spinach. Worst steak ive ever had in lubbock. It was basically a slightly seared piece of beef. Absolutely zero flavor. Even trying to add salt and pepper did nothing for this travesty. The mac n cheese AND the spinach were swimming in liquid. This place was recommended as the 3rd place in lubbock to get a steak and i am utterly appalled. I asked for the check and a to go box to take it home and fix your blunders so i didnt waste the money i paid to eat at this horrid establishment. I will NOT come here again and advise ANYONE to NOT get a steak here. Go to outback, bubbas, longhorn, ANYWHERE but here!

My wife and I booked this place to celebrate our Valentines Day Dinner. Checking in was not a bad experience and Tish was kind and friendly. Once we were seated, however, we had a whole different experience. The bench along the wall was disgusting. It had crumbs, dust, and was a bit greasy. I had to wipe it down with my napkin before I even sat down. There was a couple that sat behind us which a lot of the wait/bus staff seemed to know. There was one employee in particular that frequented their table and knelt down in the floor talking with them for several minutes at a time. It seemed like each time he did so, other employees would have to walk around him to get by. In doing so, they would often bump into my wife. Very annoying to say the least. The food was subpar at best. Not disgusting, but nothing special either. The drinks were the best thing - we had an old fashioned and a strawberry daiquiri. The wontons on the salad should not belong there. The salad is cold and once you add a dressing, doesnt go well with wontons. Wontons are fried and the cold grease isnt pleasant when consuming. I got the Dont Call Me Shrimp. Nothing special. Seasoning was very little, and the pasta was overcooked a bit. My wife had the Cedar Planked Salmon and said it wasnt too bad...code for not too good either. Our waiter also wasnt necessarily the best. He frequented the table right beside us, and made sure drinks were flowing for them, but didnt stop near as much to check in with us. On our way out, the couple twenty paces in front of us was showered with thank you and happy valentines day and good night. No one said a word to us on our way out. Not that great of a Valentines Day Experience at all.

I have a theory about a certain waiter that works/worked at this restaurant. He was previously known as John James Jackson, more commonly known in guild as Triple J . He was a notorious killer of stuffed Elmo s and left a trophy on the wall in this particular location. His back story however goes much deeper than this. Back in 2001 he retired from his brutal yet satisfying work and settled down with his beautiful wife. But tragedy struck when his wife was tickled to death by a tickle me Elmo doll in her sleep. By the time John awoke it s was too late to save his beloved. The Elmo was brutally murdered over his wife s dead body as he vowed to seek out every one of these vile creatures. With his faithful dog, seaweed, the time traveling canine with a peg leg and eye patch, he sought every single one of the wretched beasts down worldwide. Anyway loved the waiter, sorry for his loss. Loved the restaurant, 5/5.

Any steak is delicious and perfectly cooked and can go against or better with any steakhouse in Texas. Sides and dinner rolls are great. Might want to get there on a weekday before 5:00 pm because a lot of people know about this place. Ambiance is nice and thankfully, no music from a speaker although I heard there is good live music. The pleasant decor is old school west Texas. You definitely leave feeling you got what you paid for. Service is great so give a good tip.

They seemed to get everything wrong even the Salad orders and servers had the nerve to asked if we switched seats because the orders were wrong. Just about Everyone who ordered the Steak had to send them back either because it was Wrong or Burned like a brick. If it was my reception I would of been very disappointed. I ordered chicken fried chicken with loaded baked potatoe. Chicken was dry and hard to cut with the cream gravy on top. Loaded baked potato wasnt loaded, only had cheese. The waiter looked frustrated, as if he didnt want to serve us. Mgr. didnt try to apologize , she just stated Ill get you fresh strips. Also, rib-eye that was ordered should have been medium well. There was way too much seasoning on the steak as well . They charge a 13% fee if you use a debit card as well . When we ask the manager about the charge , she was very rude and stated the notice for the charge is posted at the front and we expressed that we should have been told before processing the transaction and her reply was I ll tell the owner . Our waitress was great and I applaud her for having to work under such a rude manager . We will not return to this establishment again. .

I would recommend Triple J to anyone and everyone.

The food was good, not great but good. This is simply a suggestion, eliminate some items from your menu so you can focus on a few entrees as opposed to so many, this would create great dishes instead of good dishes. I had the steak tip salad, the steak was way over seasoned. But all in all good. Chips and Queso was good! Chicken fried steak with Mac and cheese was delicious. The place is really awesome instead! Great rustic decor. Definitely needs some deep cleaning. The latern over our table must have had three inches of dust on it.

When you re in Lubbock, you stop by Triple J s. I was feeling carnivorous and decided to try the Honey Pepper steak, medium rare with a side of sweet potato custard and steamed broccoli. Unfortunately my steak came out on the more rare side and my waitress was no where to be found so I decided to just enjoy my rare steak. The flavors were delicious but I wish it was cooked a little bit more. The sweet potato custard was creamy and also chunky to which I loved and the steamed broccoli had a nice old bay spice blend on top. The restaurant was decorated with a lot of character, I definitely felt like I was in another world but enjoyed my experience.

We were greeted and seated right away. Jenna was our server. She was friendly and professional, for the most part. She got our drinks and answered questions about the menu. We decided to try the grab the bull by the horns cutting your own steak. That was fun and the steak was delicious. The salad came first and was good and fresh. The sides we chose were the parmesan creamed spinach (sooo good!!) and mas sweet potato custard. That was good also but we felt it had a tad too much brown sugar.

We checked at 7, was told it would be 1 hour and 15min wait. We didnt get seated until almost 2 hours later. We didnt get served our dinner until 945. So if you have plans to eat here be sure you have time! . Service was good and our drinks were good. The steak lacked flavor and our order was missing some add ons Overall it was an ok experience but we spent all in all about 3 hours in this restaurant and for that we voted not worth it.

We were driving from Corpus Christi to Denver and had to make a pit stop for dinner and this place didn t disappoint. We wanted some good Texas-sized steaks with a good vibe, and we got it here. The portions were plentiful and flavorful. Set in an old brick building in the heart of Lubbock and just right off the highway, it was definitely a good place to eat. Service was alright. Staff was friendly and nice. They could use some upgrades on their menu. It was just printed black and white paper, stapled together. About the only thing that I would complained about. Other than that, it was a decent joint to get some steak dinner.

Cool dinner spot is the go-to for students when family visits. Decorated in west Texas memorabilia, the inside is tasteful and food freshly prepared. For this visit and rating, we visited during the off season which was still surprisingly busy but nothing like the long waits seen when Tech is in class. Our prime rib and chicken pot pie were delicious large servings. Be careful not to fill up on the warm bread! Waiter was attentive and food was warm. Be careful with expectations during the school year as service, quality, and wait times all tend to suffer greatly.

If you like salmon, they do it right at Triple J. The Honey Pecan Salmon Salad and Ceasar Salmon are both delicious. Its my go to for lunch, and the portions are not your average lunch portions. It was cold on my most recent visit, so I asked what soup they had, my waiter recommended the green chilie soup with large pieces of fresh green chilies, potatoes and cream; I ordered a cup and wished I had ordered a bowl. Its not on the menu yet, but I hope it will soon become a regular menu item.

Reservations for 6 @ 6:45 this evening. Seated and its 8:30 and still haven t gotten our food. Finally got the Mgr and we are getting it to go. Also Manager said there was a table of 20 that took an hour to order and that delayed our order. That makes no sense as to why our order was delayed. Poor service, when you sit at a table for over 1 hour and 45 minutes without getting your food and watch people sitting in the bar area get their food shows that your order was overlooked. Will not go there again!

We have always had excellent food and service before tonight. We had to sit at the bar though we arrived at 5:45 due to a one hour wait. . The server took our order, which was a rib eye plus order of shrimp. We were not asked if we wanted grilled or friend shrimp. Our dinner came before we had a chance to finish our salads and no shrimp. We had to wait another 15 min and got fried shrimp I could not eat because I was full from the dinner. It was loud and a very unpleasant experience.

Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE BREAD! Its delicious, but the rest of the food is to die for (huge shout out to the kitchen!) and if you eat the bread you will not have room for dessert, TRUST ME. Our server, Bristol was OUTSTANDING, and he anticipated our every need. Lastly, the ambiance was awesome; even the live music was cool and not over bearing. Over all, this is an amazing place to go out on a date (like we did), bring the whole fam or just to hang out with friends.

While the food had a really nice flavor, we waited for almost an hour and a half to receive our food. The chicken pot pie that someone ordered at our table was given to us burnt and my prime rib was not as requested. This would have all been something that could have been overlooked had the food not taken so long and my steak not been room temperature when it came out. Given that this was my birthday dinner, I m slightly disappointed but hope to have a better experience should we come back again.

Steak was cooked right but had so much pepper on it it was hard to tell if I was eating a steak or a spoon full of pepper. Scraped off about half a pepper shaker. Sides need improvement. First place I ever ate at where they bring you the salad after your meal. Staff was unable to keep up with the dinner rush. Make sure you call ahead and reserve a table. Wait was anywhere for 1hr to 2hr for a table. If you plan on paying with a card theres an extra fee tacked on. Overall the food nor the service was up to the high price they put on the experience to eat there.

I m kinda on the bubble with this place. We ve been a couple of times, and making a reservation is a must, otherwise you are going to be in for a long wait. Very cool atmosphere, kind of a cool collection of old western/70 s steakhouse decor cover the walls of the place. Has a small bar area, and live music on most nights. The guy playing tonight (Scubba Steve) was very good. However, our table ended up near the stage area and it was loud enough that it was hard to have a conversation. Wasn t his fault, it was just a proximity of the table to their sound gear. Maybe install some sound gear up higher to keep the ambiance without the volume level? Our servers have been very friendly. The first time we went, service was a bit faster overall. However, tonight s service was extremely slow. We ordered our drinks and some nachos, as we were all very hungry. It was nearly 40 minutes before the nachos showed up. The waiter said he talked to the manager about the issue, so we thought they might at least comp the appetizer due to the long wait time. Nope . Charged full price, and never heard from that manager. When the food finally arrived, it s temperature was all over the place. Nachos were sent out cold. Ordered a burger cooked medium and it was more than rare. Small steak tips ordered medium were much more done than that. Salads just did not have enough flavor. The Caesar needs more kick, and the house salads were just okay. Creamed corn was excellent with a bit of salt added. Their beer bread was also very good. Why rate JJ s 2 stars? Well service time, price (not cheap), and lack of seasoning hurt this place in a real way. The location and atmosphere in the Depot District is good. But parking is also a pain when they are busy. Okay place to visit once in a while, but probably will not be on our regular rotation.
