holy smokes la sirena is the best restaurant i ve been to in Lubbock by a landslide. My roommate and I sat at the bar and were taken care of by the bartender, Kendall. I ordered the Caesar (it s vegan, they use almonds instead of anchovies) and I added a strip steak. Let me tell you, you will never have as good as a salad anywhere else. it s exceptionally crispy and the dressing is heavenly, try it for yourself if you don t believe me. My roommate ordered the molasses glazed chicken and wow all the ingredients compliment so well. When it comes to the drinks I don t even have enough room here to rave about how amazing everything was. The drinks were very sophisticated with high quality ingredients and the service just set the whole experience over the top!

This place is one of my favorites! But I went 30 minutes before closing, and it was not intentional, and the attention was awful! My chicken was undercooked, and the glass water they provided was metal! Horrible!

My wife and I and a group of close friends celebrated my wifes 65th birthday at La Sirena. It was a magical meal! Delicious food, great pacing, unobtrusive but caring and friendly service, all in a unique atmosphere. I had the best pork chop I had ever had in my life - a double bone-in chop, cooked throughout, yet juicy and tender, which means someone in the kitchen knows exactly what they are doing. My sons strip steak was equally good. Everyone enjoyed their food. We were able to simply relax and enjoy our time together. I even ordered dessert, which is rare for me, but I loved the local honey pana cotta creamy dessert in a cup. Not too sweet, just a creamy cool ending to a great meal. A highly recommended place if you want to celebrate with friends and family!

The food we had ordered was amazing, we enjoyed ours. Although the orders around us were started to come out, which smelled like heavily season fish is my assumption, smell filled the entire establishment with a pungent oder that smelled like a rotting animal it was unbearable.

I d like to start that we had a reservation set up for the Funky Door after my daughter s graduation Friday. After reading reviews we decided not to go there and wondered if La Sirena would take us. I called at 3pm and they figured something out and accepted us. The family loved it. The steak was big enough for my wife/daughter and Niece/friend to share and be full. My mother-in-law had the pan fried cod, my sister-in-law had the steak salad, and I had the lamb porterhouse. We also had Brussel sprouts queso fundido which were great, and I wish I could roast my sprouts like that. It was a great meal to celebrate her masters graduation. Thank you.

This was also probably one of the best meals my boyfriend and I have ever had and we go to a lot of higher end restaurants. Food is absolutely worth the price you can tell that it s fresh ingredients. Service was great Colten did amazing and was very personable. I have been in Lubbock for 3 years and had no idea this place existed but hands down my new favorite restaurant. 11/10 highly recommend this place.

I usually love La Sirena. I went in last night with my sister visiting from out of town. We sat at the bar for cocktails and a snack. The bartender was the absolute worst. I have never been treated so badly by a server. She barely acknowledged our presence the entire time we were there, but was super attentive to the two men sitting next to us. She left out the simple syrup from my sisters drink. We mistakingly ordered queso. She rudely informed us we dont have queso we have fundido. Her attitude was so hurtful. Ill never darken the door again.

Found this restaurant gem through Google search since I was driving from McKinney, TX to meet family in Lubbock. It was better than the reviews I read. The food was amazing as well as the deserts. Shawn provided us Superior service as he even was able accommodate a party of 5 instead of a 3 party reservation. Beautiful decor, soft music, not loud and able to carry a conversation. Will definitely be back to this hidden gem -- Outstanding!!

Absolutely horrible! I paid $58 for prime steak and it was the worst steak I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Every bite was extremely marbled and had tendons in every bite! I added the egg for $4 and added the grilled shrimp for $12. Unacceptably the worst service! It took so long to get our drinks I had to go next door and get a beer! The manager or owner is rude and she only cares about money not quality or customer satisfaction! Do not recommend this place!!

This was our second time to eat at La Sirena and we recommended it to some of our friends that were visiting from out of town. Our first experience here was great, but unfortunately the visit this evening was not. I was greeted very rudely by the hostess. I accidentally gave the wrong first name, but correct last name on our reservation that a friend had made. The hostess, who also was the owner of La Sirena, was incredibly rude. We still decided to eat here and our table was a $500-$600 table with mediocre service. Even though we came in an hour before they closed with reservations we were made to feel as if we were intruding. As someone who is in the service industry myself, I was absolutely shocked by the way we were treated here. I truly enjoy the food, but will likely not be back due to the very unkind behavior from the staff.

Review №103

Rating: 3

Good food but overpriced. I think a lot of effort goes into making these dishes look fancy, the ingredients are likely high quality, and the flavor is good if not great. Unfortunately, it just doesn t justify the high cost. We started with the Salsa Trio, a tasty tomatillo salsa and two nondescript red salsas the waiter had to go ask what they were. The Double Bone-In Pork Chops were cooked unevenly parts juicy, parts dry. The accompanying polenta flatbread was not accurately named and essentially flavorless, despite being guajiro brined. What saved the plate was the amazing cold-smoked cherries and mezcal pan sauce, which elevated the dish from objectionable to genuinely tasty. We also had the Peruvian Spiced Chicken, which was blackened but juicy and very flavorful. The duck fat fried potatoes were just fine, nothing to distinguish them from any other thick cut French fries at a thousand diners. The two dipping sauces were OK, but despite being labeled aji they would have been completely unrecognizable to any of my Peruvian friends. I m unaware of green aji but have cooked hundreds of times with yellow aji and it was undetectable in the sauce. If they are using it, they should know that aji amarillo should be roasted to bring out its flavor, otherwise you get what I got yellow mayo. The lemonade was interesting, exceedingly tart and could have used a little sugar, but seemed made from fresh lemon juice. Refreshing if a bit too much pucker factor. The service was adequate but not especially attentive or friendly. If I was a bit wordy it s because I want to be fair to the place. The food was good on the whole but not good enough for the price. I should add of course that we don t drink and perhaps the bar experience is vastly superior, I ll never know. We will return of course, as I always believe in second chances, and I hope we change our minds with other dishes. A lot of effort clearly went into this place and I want to give it every chance to impress.

La Sirena De Cocina - The Kitchen of the Siren. I walked into the atrium just grateful to know that there were open seats somewhere. The hostess took me under her wing, knowing fully (but never showing) that the sea was most certainly well under high tide. The beauty and the charm of the courtyard was enough to lower my inhibitions to allow this hostess to determine my choices for the evening. Type A personality here. That is saying something. The watermelon margarita was a generous portion and just enough to sweep me away. I was excited for the pork chop... But seriously... THAT PORK CHOP. I dont know how I am ever supposed to eat cilantro without mezcal smoked cherries again!! And then there was the Chile tart. The only words that are coming to mind are &+@$ yes. It was perfect. Everything was perfect. Im coming here again. Ive been to many kitchens in Lubbock. Not one of them even come close to The Sirens.

The house margarita with the cinnamon on the rim is the only margarita I really like except the ones we make at the house. The Mermaid Water is also good and the Mexican Martini is wonderful. My husband always gets some kind of Mezcal. We almost always get the quail empanadas and the ceviche. Its not a ton of food , but Id take quality over quantity and its great when you dont need a huge meal, which is really more often than not. They also have great desserts. Plan to drop a $100 bill, but you will not be sad. It is well worth it for a special occasion.

We went for a birthday dinner and it was great-- its tucked away and the atmosphere within the inner plaza makes you feel like youre in New Mexico, rather than Lubbock. Plenty of safe social distancing in terms of tables, the waiter wore a mask the whole time, and they actually did their menus online to ensure no germ circulation with that. We had some fairly original cocktails but the star of the show was the food: good appetizers like pulled quail empanadas and poblano fries and then main dishes like duck mole and lamb chops. We got the sense that the menu changes frequently based on seasons and available ingredients, and it was good, original food that wasnt over-the-top fancy either. We will definitely be going back again!

I really want to love La Sirena but I just can t. It is the most overpriced, mediocre food in town. After spending over $65 per person for dinner, we got home last night and had to make dinner because we didn t eat our food at the restaurant. Don t get me wrong, they make fabulous cocktails and their chips and trio of salsas are great, hence the two stars. After drinks and appetizers it went downhill fast. We ordered gazpacho that was flat out inedible. The amount of vinegar was so overpowering we couldn t even eat it. Gazpacho is such an easy soup to make I don t understand how it could taste so awful. Next was the venison with chimichurri. The venison was raw, not undercooked, but raw. Had to be sent back. The chimichurri tasted awful and pretty much ruined the entire dish. Chef - it would be so easy to just google a proper chimichurri recipe and make one that is really delicious. Next was the 3 scallops for $38 which were ok and the red snapper plate that was mostly rice. Our waiter never asked if there was anything wrong with the uneaten soup. Didn t apologize for the raw venison. Never came back to the table to ask if we wanted to order more drinks or have dessert. It was a very disappointing experience. If we ever go back it will be strictly for cocktails and chips and salsa. If that. Oh, and bring back the Queso please. It was by far the best thing on the menu.

Good food, the sangria wasnt the best but it was okay. I didnt like that they only had one juice box for kids, this type of restaurant should have a better juice option or at least something more appropriate for kids. In general I liked it.

A wonderful experience. The owners are very welcoming. And the food is well put together, with the thought of presentation, and flavor. The environment is quite and relaxing. It is a place to have a seat and enjoy the depths of service.

Average food, high price, nice atmosphere. This is a nice small restaurant with delicious food. It looks so elegant. However, the price was way above the average for Lubbock. I paid around $50 for a fish at dinner. And I can not say it was so delicious.

Its a nicely decorated, cozy place. Our waiter wasnt in a mood. That, in a combination with the cocktails that werent well made brought the experience a little down. The brussel sprouts appetizer is great! My husband said his pork chops entree was pretty good. The salmon entree was too small for $29, but tasty.

Not one for fancy things. I visited this restaurant with my uncle when he was in town for a few days. This is way more refined than I tend to be. I am sure he understands this cuisine better than I ever will but the experience to say the least not great. I had the ceviche and it was good but kinda odd. it was a big scoop of cold raw seafood marinated in I guess lime juice? I noticed other entrees but they were out or it was way too expensive. To be honest I left hungry and feeling out of place. not bad, not great but definitely fancy.

This. Place. Is. Amazing. This is our new favorite restaurant in all of Lubbock. The plates are ~$30/plate. Wine prices are fair fair. This is the first time we have had a pricey plate that we both said wow, that was actually worth the price. The atmosphere was fantastic, the service was phenomenal, the food was astounding. Fantastic place to eat, we will DEFINITELY be coming back every chance we get.

Atmosphere was nice, service was good but tenderloin was served cold and under cooked as if plate was sitting aside for a time before serving. Drinks from the bar were served without salt rim as requested. Disappointed with this night out when expectations were high as we have eaten here in the past with good food, cocktails and service.

You can tell they that care about their food and its reputation. I really enjoyed their salmon. Their stacked enchiladas were pretty good as well. Very nice service and beautiful venue. It is good to know that they arent cheap but it is worth the money that you spend.

After reading all of the great reviews, I was a little disappointed in my experience at La Sirena. The first thing we ordered was the ceviche which was bland and didnt have much flavor. The poblano fries were really good, so they made up for the ceviche. We ordered the pork chop as our main course which was good, but nothing to write home about. The service was so-so but also not great, definitely not what I expecting.

Our waiter was very attentive and timely. Drinks never were empty and held good conversation. Not too much and not too little. As for the food I ate the roasted chicken with duck fat potatoes and a side salad ( comes as one dish). The chicken was very flavorful and the potatoes were excellent. The salad was a great accompaniment to provide freshness to the plate. My little one has the bean and cheese quesadilla (looks like tacos) and she enjoyed them greatly. My friend had the stacked enchiladas with chicken and green hach chille sauce. Very well present with lots of flavor. The drills were good pours

This gem of a restaurant had amazingly fresh food delicious drinks and amazingly accommodating of our little guy. They even added some veggies to their cheese board to make it healthier for our kiddo. They were so conscientious of allergies and so very vegetarian friendly without adding substitutes to cover flavor. They highlighted the vegetables and didn t cover them. Don t get me wrong, they have a wonderful selection of non vegetarian options. Such great service and will definitely come back when in the area again.

Recommended for date night and special occasions where youre willing to shell out a few extra dollars. This isnt the type of place to get large portion meals; its more for the atmosphere and socializing. I would not say its a kid friendly place. Great wine and cocktail selection. Tapas portions are perfect for a little something to pair with your wine, and the main dishes are a much more hearty amount if thats what youre looking for. $35 for two tiny lamb chops is a little steep even with all things considered (though it was delicious and cooked perfectly). Pulled quail empanadas were lovely. Watermelon margherita was refreshing, recommended with the jalapenos for a zing! Coconut rum cake was the only let down of the meal- very hard and dry, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. Otherwise a very tasty experience, but for the price, I was hoping for exceptional taste.
