Benito s 2 on 98th/Indiana - Picked up dinner for the family from this location and the experience was fantastic from the beginning to end; my call was answered by AJ, who was friendly and took his time with me as I placed my order. When finished, he repeated everything back to confirm the order and said when I arrived, go to the bar, ask for him, and he d have my order. It was ready promptly when I arrived, the server who finished bagging up my order was super friendly, had beautiful glittery eyeshadow I just had to chat about for a bit, and she helped put the bags in my hand, noting which ones had the soups and to keep it flat. Unpacked the order at home and was instantly pleased; food was still hot, despite me chatting with my neighbor for 10 minutes before going inside; we ordered Ziti Pomodoro, Chicken Siciliana, the Seafood Combo all with Minestrone soup, and Limoncello cake. I had seen a prior review about portion sizes and I don t know whether they maybe had an off experience, were at the other location, or I prefer a smaller size but the amount of food was ample enough for tonight and lunch tomorrow! Calamari and all the seafood in my son s dish was cooked well and not rubbery, chicken in my dish was tender and not overdone or dry, Minestrone soup was delicious and not salty or bland. Pictured are the seafood combo and Chicken Siciliano as my mom had already started eating her Pomodoro!!

Went for dinner with my Mother, decided to grab a couple glasses of wine and share some appetizers. We got fried calamari and it was the freshest I ve ever had here in Lbk! Cooked to perfection and not over done. We also got Caprese Salad and Mussels. The garlic knots were amazing as well. Everything was great and reminded of our adventures living in Italy. AJ was our waiter and he was very friendly and helpful, he even went out of his way to ask the Chef if we could get mussels in white wine sauce next time. Of course, they said it wouldn t be a problem! Amazing place and we will be back soon!

Benitos Italian Cafe & Pizza is an Italian food restaurant. Its flavor is unique. I ordered a snapper fillet in sauce with its fettuccine and it was delicious, as was the finger-licking seafood combo. The attention we received was great, the hygiene is good and the atmosphere too, they cook delicious, we will return

Zeke and Maryann were lovely. The food was good and prompt. However - my issue is management. The manager was standing behind the bar snapping his fingers at his waitstaff demanding to bring him a water (sir you re a grown man and your waitress is doing her job get it yourself) and barking orders instead of offering to help. Soured the mood for what I was hoping for. The staff really was nice and so sweet. They deserve better management.

Our meal was delicious, so the four stars are for that, but service was kind of awkward. Our server alternated between fun banter and forgetting things wed requested. Nothing serious like our entire order, but lemons for our waters, the drink I ordered, refills, and our ticket at the end. Id go back but with some mild hesitation.

98TH AND INDIANA LOCATION!! The wife and I decided to go out on a date on Sunday night. We had eaten at the previous restaurant in this building so we decided to give Benitos a try. We were seated promptly. There was no one there when we arrived but the two sitting at the bar. Our waitress brought menus and our drinks in a timely manner. We browsed the menu as it was all new to us. When we ordered we could tell the waitress did not know the menu. My wife actually pointed to the item on the menu so that she could see what was being ordered and then write it down. I ordered and she was off to the kitchen. The food came out in a timely manner, but the order was NOT right. My wife called the waitress over and told her that this was not the item she ordered. She seemed to be a mix of confused and embarrassed. She did not immediately take the plate of food back. In a few minutes she came and picked up the plate that was wrong and then said she had the correct order cooking. The manager, possibly the owner, brought the correct plate out shortly. We had to ask for refills on our drinks. When we asked for the check we were charged for the salad that came with my wifes entree and the soup that came with my entree. My wife brought it to her attention and she told us that it was her 3rd day. So, when we were done, we discussed that this is just another mediocre restaurant to add to the list in Lubbock. You cannot throw a waitress to the wolves if they dont know the menu or how to charge for food. We normally wont throw a place away with one bad visit, but with our experience with the service and the mediocre food, we will mark this one off the list.

A lack of competition doesn t allow this place to get good ratings. Mediocre at best. Chicken piccata had about a 1/4 serving of over cooked pasta. Chicken Parm was not fried fresh reheated. The free bread is ok . Server was very kind. If someone in this town finds a way to make real Italian food fresh and right they will make a killing. In the mean time this place will do well because this town doesn t know any better.

Don t be fooled unless you really just wanted cheese ravioli. They brought me the wrong salad dressing for my side salad, never asked how the food was, and forgot the soup with my meal. 5 star Salem location. Absolutely outstanding food was perfect. 4/4/24 98th and Indiana Ave The eggplant had a burnt taste to it, the tiramisu tasted like cheesecake smothered in chocolate syrup. Service was not up to par. Overall going back to main location. Best part out of 26.00 was the tomatoes soup however was not provided a bowl instead a cup which was a server not listening, and tortellini. Bread was undercooked tasted doughy.

Overall, not better than some frozen food you can buy at the store. The best part was the fried shrimp and Caesar salad. The Alfredo felt flavorless, as well as the bread, Calamari, and mozzarella sticks. The service was good, the staff were all friendly and created an enjoyable atmosphere. Compared to chain places like Olive garden, this is much worse. Especially for the price point.

Had the pizza, enjoyed the crust. Overall it was good, sauce was ok tasted canned, a little soggy in the middle. My daughter had the chicken alfredo, sauce was bland, more roux than cheese. Needed more parmigian flavor. Typical pre-made from sysco or US foods. Noodles were cooked perfect. The rolls they brought before the meal were the star, I ate them plain because it would have been a shame to put the little prepackaged butter slices on them.

I had heard so many good things about this place. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. There were seven of us. 3 liked their food. One person ate 1 bite and pushed their plate away. Another 3 maybe ate 1/2 of their plate. Meatballs were under cooked and cold. Raw in the middle. Snapper was cold when it got to the table. Chicken parmigiana was good. Chicken cacciatore was not good at all. The teenager that liked his spaghetti left hungry due to the portions being so small. The bread was good though and our waiter was very nice. Sorry for the review. I dont like saying places arent good. Just being honest. We spent a good amount of money for a really bad meal. Just want to share our experiences, thats all.

Finally Lubbock has a small, delicious Italian restaurant! They start with garlic knots - delicious! I had their daily special which was a ribeye topped with a shrimp, and a side of linguini. It had a kick (I was pre-warned but like spicy) and the meal will easily feed me twice. The steak was a bit over-done for my preference but still had good flavor and was not dry, so I did not send it back. My friend chose lobster ravioli and loved it. She had minestrone and I had a salad. Both were fine - nothing special, but fine. We finished our meal with tiramisu which was easily as good as what I have had in Italy. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful and proud to tell us she soon planned to be full-time with the restaurant because she loves it so much. Others (managers?) checked on us periodically. They had live music the night we visited and that was enjoyable. I will definitely be back. Thanks for choosing Lubbock!

I felt like I was walking into a New York City Italian restaurant! Not nearly enough people were here on a Sunday afternoon, but I hope it changes because these guys are legit! A little bit of everything for everyone! The kids loved their hand-tossed pepperoni pizza - this slice is HUGE! 6-yr old. My husband and I are going carbless (or at least low carb) and they substituted our pasta for a delicious vegetable medley on our Chicken Calabrese dishes, which was amazing. Our teenage niece had the Grilled Tilapia Limone and was very well pleased. Our teenage son had the Chicken Parmigiana and said it was different in a tasty way (he normally picks this dish every time we go to an Italian place, but he says he couldn t truly compare it to others as it was tasty just different). My sister-in-law & her husband enjoyed the special of the day, a Sausage Tortellini with Basil Alfredo sauce and both truly enjoy it as well! For not knowing they existed 24 hours ago, we were very pleased with our meals and will most certainly return! The staff was friendly and very attentive. The owner was even our host at the front door. (Our guess that he was the owner I could be mistaken.) Please check this place out and tell your friends! Dietary restrictions: No pasta (substitutions were no problem!)

We came here for the first time and everything was delicious and timely. Our server was Kevin and he did a great job answering questions about the menu and taking care of us. I plan to come back and bring the rest of my family.

Went in for a later Friday dinner and had a great experience. The bread basket was delicious as well as the lobster ravioli and pasta combo. The pre dinner salad didn t strike me as anything special, but the lettuce was fresh and crisp. Will be returning!

Even my daughter who barely eats solids yet ate UP the garlic bread. Super tasty! Kid-friendliness: Super kid friendly! Waitresses were so nice to my daughter!

Upon walking in, we noticed the decor was theme appropriate but seemed like it had been there awhile instead of just opening in April. Started out with the Appetizer Sampler and we had the Chicken Florentine with a House Salad and Chicken Parm with a Cesar Salad. Fresh bread came with the entrees. First the appetizer, which the waiter was raving about how good and fresh it was, looked like it came from a bag at the local grocery store. The shrimp were over cooked, calamari was very rubbery and the cheese sticks under cooked. Go figure! The salads also appeared to come from the grocery store. The Cesar Salad was just the house salad with a small cup of bottled Cesar dressing. Not romaine with fresh Parmesan and croutons. The Chicken Florentine was very bland and swimming in water. Looked like they dumped the pasta in a bowl and poured the chicken and sauce in to mix and then dumped everything on the plate. Did not cook it in a pan to cook out the pasta water at all. Though the Chicken Parm had a little more flavor, it was cooked in the same manner so the chicken was very soggy instead of crispy. It would have been a lot better had it been cooked correctly. As far as the bread that came with the meal, I cant comment on since the waiter never gave us any. Only a few bites were taken from all of the food, appetizers and the entrees, and the waiter never asked if we had a problem with the food or if we were just full. He must be used to full plates being left behind. Do not eat here, go to the chain restaurant instead. At least they can cook pasta with sauce and have fresh ingredients.

So heads up. If you use a card to pay. You will be charged a fee. The sauce is so tomatoeeee. Made my mouth perk. Almost to acidy not sure what it was. The vinaigrette is like they added oil to the tomato sauce. Very thick. Couldnt even spread on my salad. The chicken cacciatore was good but I could not eat my meal. Good to try....

Maybe it had to do with the time of day (I was here at 5:30 on a Wednesday), but I was incredibly impressed by the waitstaff. Got me to a table quickly, checked on me often, and food came out within 10-15 minutes of ordering. I had the chicken damabianca, and it was okay but nothing special. The garlic knots were tasty, though, and the pizzas looked good enough to make me want to come back. Overall, I think its a nice little place that will get better over time.

It seems that most of the negative reviews here are about slow service or someone yelling mamma mia in the kitchen. Look, the owner is Italian, and as such, maybe a little more laid back (or slow) than us hungry Americans prefer. Quality Italian, excellent rolls, inexpensive house wine selection, excellent service from Benito and his staff. They havent been open long, to come onto Google and give a new business a one-star review because the food was excellent but the service is slow is just..crass at best.

Went there for lunch today because I had been wanting to try it. Husband got the pasta combo and I decided on the chicken parmigiana. Neither meal was hot and did not taste very good at all. Left a horrible taste in our mouth. (My husband said we needed to go home a lick our dogs rear to get the taste out of our mouth). Our waitress was good and the hostess was amazing the only redeeming qualities of the experience. Hope others have a better experience.

Simply put go to fazolis for better quality and quality. The 1.5 hour wait for food to start, second the portion sizes are a joke at best! But all the wait finally it comes out cold Im not one to even say much about warm food but when my kid points out hers is cold too then theres an issue. I told the manager/owner whatever he was that had been standing there the entire time fratenizing, the issues and he blames waitress. Saying the plates have just been sitting there. I said why didnt you bring them yourself then as a Manager of a understaffed restaurant you would think that would be his first priority but no. Wouldnt recommend this place to an enemy I should have known when everyones telling me bad things. Listen!!! You can tell from the pic the size and just how cold it was! This is the pasta sampler for crying out loud! Lasagna, manicotti and ravioli. Thats all in the dish in that picture for 15$. Seriously the smallest place iv ever recieved as a main.

I had been hearing so many good things about this place & finally decided to check it out! Bizarre, disappointing, horrible, weird experience overall. Ambiance was definitely lacking, but I was like hey, maybe its a little hole in the wall, best pasta youve ever had sort of place. We were sat at a table way too close to the kitchen doors and could hear them talking and cursing in the back better than we could hear each other to talk at our table. It got more uncomfortable the longer we sat there. We were our servers only table, but they were so rushed with us from the second we sat down. No plates for bread, not very personable. Still, I get working service jobs are hard, everyone has off days, I was ready to let it slide. She repeatedly asked if we wanted ranch dressing on our salads which we did not, and then surprise, we got ranch dressing on our salads. No where to be seen after dropping those off, we decided to just eat them instead of waiting for her to come back. I watched another server ask someone at the table next to us to move over so she could sweep under the table WHILE HE WAS SITTING THERE EATING DINNER. Awkward at best, rude and unhinged at worst. Same server (not our main one) took the parmesan off our table, without saying a word, AS WE WERE SITTING THERE. It was so weird for lack of any better description. But then, the food is coming out, and its time to chow down. Weirdness aside, I was still hopeful. The rolls/garlic knots/bread sticks/whatever were good - fresh, warm, and yummy. I will give them that. Our salads had the wrong dressings and were soaking wet on the bottom. I got a few bites in before everything got super soggy. Our meals were really not great. Alfredo sauce tasted like straight up milk, ziti pomodoro was uhh not that, marinara sauce in lasagna was sweet as all get out. And the portions were TINY. Id rather spend the same amount literally anywhere else and get so much more. Id say my plate was 20% pasta, 80% sauce. This was just a weird and disappointing experience. At one point I hear someone scream mamma mia from the kitchen. I felt like I was on a prank show. Bizarre. I will not be back to say the least.

This was a great experience. First time we went and we went as a large group. The owner and staff were extremely accommodating on a Friday evening for such a large group. The owner personally checked on us during our wait, assisted us during our time there and was very hospitable. The service and staff were awesome, personable and I cannot rave about the food enough. It was hard to choose which dish to get because they all sounded great. Everyone in our group could not stop talking about the dishes we all got and were wiping our plates clean. It was a true family style la cena and very authentic Italian experience. So glad to find this in Lubbock. HIGHLY recommend Benito s! Will definitely be going back.
