About the Company

rating: 4.2

"It’s so easy to fall in love" with the Lubbock KOA. As native son Buddy Holly sang, "It's so easy to fall in love" with the Lubbock KOA. Located just outside the city limits and minutes from downtown, the campground features hundreds of mature shade trees, making it an oasis in the middle of the West Texas plains. Visit the Museum of Texas, Tech University, Science Spectrum & Omni Theater, Silent Wings Museum, the American Wind Power Center & Museum, Lubbock Lake Landmark, The Vietnam Center and Archive, and wineries. Don't miss the Buddy Holly Center! Then "Maybe Baby" you'll find a few ways to relax: swim in the heated indoor pool, lounge in the hot tub, rent a video or watch a double...

Front office is wonderful help! She even called me back when my cell lost service and I was trying to make a reservation. The only reason 4 not 5 stars is that it s a bit out of the way from major roads & they don t have many sites for big rigs. Otherwise great KOA!

Tent Site Review ONLY: Dont stay here. There are four nicely manicured tent sites. However, they are located about 100 yards from a heavy-traffic highway. There is a train track just the other side of the highway that gets 24 hour use. Some large machine that sounds like air-brake thrumming goes about every hour. There is an on-site residence with roosters that roam and crow at 7AM. The crowing isnt an issue though, because the garbage truck empties the dumpster nearby at 6:30. The adjacent mini-storage facility has 24hr floodlights, as does the KOA laundry. So if youre tent camping, my advice is to find another location. KOA staff were friendly and hospitable. The store has plenty of last-minute items and leave-behinds.

We stayed here for about 3 weeks! The price wasn t bad at all and we loved the park/indoor pool (we have 3 kids)! It was nice having things to do without having to leave the rv park. The place was clean and not loud like some of the reviews said. The only complaint i have is what they call goat heads they are basically small balls with stickers all over them. If you have an animal I wouldn t recommend because they are a PAIN to get out of their fur!!! Other than that really nice place!

Great little no frills campground! Good value. We couldnt figure out online booking, so we just gave them a call. The employee was pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay again. We stayed in one of the two cabins. They are small and staff informed us of this in advance. We were provided a key at the office/small store which operated a deadbolt. Two windows inside, one of which was able to be opened. The floors were dirty unfortunately, so we did some cleaning ourselves. The bed was awful. We didnt sleep well because the mattress, which would probably pass for a mattress pad, was about 4 thick and plastic with nothing under it. If we stay again, well just bring something else rather than bedding only. There was a TV in the cabin which was nice and the a/c, oil heater kept us comfortable. The campground is on the small side but well kept. Even with a full camp, they did a good job of keeping it clean. All gravel. I think there were two dumpsters. Staying in a cabin really helped to keep the traffic noise down. If youre bringing pets, please be aware the dog park is very small.. probably 150 square feet. We took advantage of local parks. There were 3 showers and four bathroom stalls in the ladies room. Water was hot. We checked out the pool and it was nice. Everything worked and the space was clean and inviting. Cute decor. Liked that the pool wasnt rectangular and got wider at the deep end. Its small but still nice with a 6 ft depth. There was also a nice medium sized playground with a fair amount of equipment for guests enjoyment.

Convenient stay, easy propane refill We enjoyed our overnight stop at Lubbock KOA Journey. The sites look clean and level, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They offer a convenient propane refill service, which saved us time looking for a separate propane station. The indoor pool was a welcome bonus too! Would definitely recommend for a quick stopover or a longer stay.

Aside from the highway noise, its a decent place to stay! With a drive-in theatre almost next door, and an indoor pool as part of their amenities, it really is a comfortable stay. The lots arent close, so you have space to set up without feeling youre encroaching on your neighbor, if there is one. Small dog park, but begin enough for your pup to stretch their legs. My husband & I travel for his work so we are no strangers to living in a campground but this camp ground is by far the most unfriendly campground we have ALMOST stayed at. When we arrived the camp host greeted us with the most unpleasant attitude... We were told to park in a spot that was clearly to small (after we had to answer a million questions about our camper to even book) if we would she pulled out camper forward like she suggested we would not have been able to have power or open our slides. the camp host made comments about me having an attitude (which I did not have until after) when we asked if there was a bigger spot and I was trying to explain why I had my car parked where it was while we set up. She also told me I should probably pay attention to my kids who were with my husband & safe. If KOA wants to keep getting business from traveling works then a good start would definitely be training for their employees

I had to cancel the camper spot reservation my family had for my little sister s TTU move-in because my dad unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago. When I called the office, it was painfully apparent that the woman on the phone was not paying much attention to what I was saying. While I didn t know exactly what day my dad had booked to pull in or what the reservation number was, I explained the circumstances of our need to cancel. She was short with me when I didn t have the above mentioned information and told me that I needed to call him and get the information so she could cancel the reservation. It was only after I replied that I would if I had a direct line to heaven. At that point she asked for his name so she could look the reservation up that way. She found the reservation, cancelled it, and told me that it would be refunded. To top off the whole situation, we were charged a cancellation fee even with the reservation being a month out. I am 24 years old and dealing with the worse thing that has ever happened to me. I don t appreciate how this situation was handled by this business. Talk about kicking someone while they re down.

She said just pull into any full hookup site and dump. Then the owner said NO, they didnt pay for full hookups so they have to use the dump station. So we unhooked, made a U turn then the dump cap was locked. And for our rig to reach the dump I needed to add an extension line to my dump hose. When were done needed to turn a ring around again to get to our campsite. Not what we expect from a KOA.

It is just not right, we came, parked and set up. Relaxed a bit, went out for dinner and came back thinking we could relax in the hot tub before ending our evening. It was 8:45 pm. No where in the brochure, website or in the office does it say that the pool and spa are closed early. We dont want to hottub before supper or when its 100 degree out. Will never be back, they must be micro managers. I would give you 0 stars if posdible.

This is one of the best places to camp here in Lubbock. Whether it is in the cabin, your RV, or in a tent they have it all. It is very clean and quiet. It is a perfect family get away.

Definitely would not recommend. We were going to rent monthly for 2 months, when we arrived, the trailers are run down, broken cars in the lots, and just a dump. The pictures of the park don t do this park justice. Felt unsafe. They refused to refund us our rate or our deposit for electric, even though we never actually unhooked, or even unlocked, our camper. We ve stayed at lots of KOA campgrounds in the past and never been so disappointed. Beware prior to booking.

The bathrooms were dirty, shower stall and a toilet was out of commission, spend money to repair them instead of flowers n plants, lots of garbage needs to be picked up, the back rows of permanent campers very unkept, we left 2days early, this KOA could learn a lot from the KOA management in Picacho, AZ, but heads up to Julie who checked us in, friendly and helpful.

This is a small KOA, all dirt and gravel. The lady who checked us in was about as personable as an armadillo, a total crumdgen! The pool was not really warm enough but the hot tub was. The inside of the pool area was in dire disrepair as most of the ceiling tiles were ready to fall in. The rusty, wobbly handle to get into the hot tub was a bit frightening. Worth $50/night? Not sure?

The stay was very pleasant and the staff was so friendly and accommodating! My daughter wanted a few friends to enjoy the day with her and they had absolutely no issues. My daughter was able to see her friends and spend a great afternoon with them. Would definitely stay again from the dog park to the pool it was all clean the cabin was really neat and clean staff kept asking if we needed anything to let them know. Not sure what staff others dealt with but the ones available we had absolutely 0 problems.

This camping spot was accommodating to our needs, we felt safe, and its in a convenient location. We enjoyed the drive-in movie theater nearby. The time of year that we visited the KOA had dead vegetation, hopefully there is more green grass and nice trees according to their pictures. The dog park access was convenient, we really liked this place, we will stay again. Military discount and location near Texas Tech was our main considerations.

We have been here before and will stay again. It is a nice, quiet place with reasonable rates. The management is friendly and helpful. It is easy to get into and the area is kept clean. They have a dog run area. The rv spots are nice and level...it is dirt, gravel mix. One nice feature is that for those with sewage hookups on the passenger side of the trailer/rv, the spots are set up with access points on both sides.. so no extra long hoses needed.

arrived Thurs afternoon around 2:45 . No one in the open office. Waited around, went around building shouting hello but go no response. Called the number only to hear myself leave a message . Twenty minutes went by and a woman showed up. I told her I had been waiting and had tried to call. No apology , no excuse, she did not bat an eye . Whats the name ? is all I got . Rude . Next morning I wanted propane so I called again. 3 times and no answer .Went to the office. The same woman was sitting in a corner on her phone. Must have been important cause she did not acknowledge me . Phone rang and she ignored it . RUDE again. Park was okay , not great .

Stayed there while visiting our Granddaughter at Texas Tech. KOA grounds are kept very clean, staff is super friendly and helpful. Restrooms were kept clean day and night. Although there is some vehicle traffic noise, for the cost, its acceptable. Nice friendly camping neighbors wanting a tour of our Nucamp Teardrop camper as they talked about their 20 footers made us feel welcomed. Well definitely go back there again.

Do you like your camping experience to come with highway, airport, AND train noise!? Then you re in the right place. How anyone sleeps here is a mystery. If this place was a cemetery, the dead would rise from their graves to rot somewhere more peaceful.
