I had an appointment with dps at 2.45 and I reached and checked in at 2.17. I waited there for 45 mins and got to know that my ticket number got skipped by the system. Their system is super glitchy. Advise to people to check with someone if its taking more than 15 mins after check in.

Texas DPS needs to open back all their locations in every City. It was so much better. Fire people, like the rude, incompetent lady that handles the line in Lewisville (we waited months to get in). She is clearly difficult on purpose using her power to make everyone elses lives miserable. Its ridiculous that my son has been in TX for almost a year, and cannot get his TX State DL because we wait moths for an appointment, and we dont have what that specific person wants. The rude lady in Lewisville didnt accept a State issued ID, SS card and birth certificate plus proof of residency. She said we have to provide a W2, which any person can steal and use your SS number and work under it. Its happened to me, BUT that is the extra proof of who you are. She basically hosed us over, and now we have to wait until next year. This also takes away my sons right to vote. Texas DPS needs to get their act together and get rid of the useless people. We use to have a location right by my house in MY City, and I didnt have to drive over Gods green earth to make it to the appointment you scheduled months ago, just to be turned away.

This location only accepts appointments online. I walked in at 4:00p, there were open booths and 1-2 people in chairs, but they would not allow me to wait and get help to complete the task to which I am legally obligated. Online system is terrible. Appts wait time is 2 MONTHS. I would give them zero stars.

Only available appointment is in 6 months! Yet I am told I have to have everything done within 30 days. Don t even try to ask questions you get told to make an online appointment. Worst system ever, such an embarrassment. Half the time when trying to make an appointment the website is down. I hope they figure this out because it is not the way things should be ran.

Extremely rude and unhelpful. The Branch Coviden they had that Greets you at the door drove me out like I was a diseased animal. I tried to ask questions of the Masked Karen, all I wanted was to change my address on my license. I did not have an appointment I figured they could work me in since they were open for another 2 hours and no one was in line. I had a piece of paper shoved at me and was told to go online, get an appointment and come back another day with my Birth certificate or my pass port. I did not need my Birth certificate or my pass port.

Update I previously left a review about how it would take longer than a month to get an appointment for a drivers license renewal. I am now sadly mistaken, the Lewisville DPS office no longer comes up on the Texas scheduler website that the DPS requires you to use. There are no longer appointments available for drivers licenses at the Lewisville location. the next appointment is at the Denton location and it s not until December! I understand that I should ve been more diligent and paying attention to when my drivers license expired. I tried to renew online and it was not an option for me even though I fit all of the requiring criteria. I had know idea the DPS changed their drivers license renewals to appointment only after covid, generally, you don t have to update your license but every 5 to 6 years. I m not sure how I was supposed to know that the DPS never went back to walk-ins after Covid and now I m going to be out of drivers license until December. This is insane! The DPS website says that they implemented the online scheduling in order to prevent long lines at the DPS. I would much rather wait in a long line that I could seen in the same day for, instead they are creating virtual lines that take months to be seen, so smart Texas DPS!

You must have an appointment to do anything. Appointments are going 3 MONTHS out. If you call them they wont answer any questions and tell you that you have to come in person to ask. Their website says you can just walk in and get things done. But when you walk in they say you must have an appointment and the next one is at least 3 MONTHS away. I lost my license - yes my fault - but requiring people to go without for three months is insane.

In and out in 40 minutes! Staff were friendly and helpful. Make your appointment ONLINE. You will get an email confirmation to check in. You can also check in ONLINE. Make sure you log in early, like 7am, if you re wanting same day appointment because otherwise appointments fill up months in advance! When booking online, you might try a private browser or incognito window so it refreshes to sooner appointments. We logged in about 7 am and just saw nothing for months. Then tried incognito browser and reapplied for appointments and got one right away and first thing the same day. Even if you re renewing your DL they ll ask for a passport or birth certificate but that s not what we were told to bring. So she was able to look it up in their system to see if a passport was in file. And it was. Whew! That being said, I recommend bringing a passport or birth certificate even if you re renewing! Check in process and renewal process was easy and painless - it s one form to fill out front and back. Pay attention to the screens because you will see your number pop up and it tells you which window/ station to go to. The lady that assisted us, Odalys, was super helpful and kind. Thanks for a great experience!

I scheduled an appointment and had to wait 3 months before going. Once I showed up, I had to wait outside in a line with people who had both scheduled appointments and were walk ins. What s the point of making an appointment if I still have to wait for check in along with walk ins? After waiting 30+ minutes, I got to the front only for them to tell me I didn t have all of the documents needed, even though I had brought the documents required by the DMV website. She then said since my appointment was at 1:30, she will give me until 2:30 to bring in the documents, but because of the wait time it was already 2:10. When I asked for more time, she said no sorry you ll have to reschedule. Reschedule for another appointment 3 months out and go through this wait time again? Terrible.

Im going to file a complaint for that office and for the rude mediocre person who answers the door who doesnt explain anything. Excellent location for drivers license services just know in advance (as many others have said) that you need an appointment and appointments often must be booked several months in advance. I had nothing but friendly experiences with all workers here, and easily got my license taken care of. Dawn was so kind! Paperwork portion took around thirty mins, total time spent here (from wait time to exiting) was around 45 mins. I recommend arriving the thirty minutes early to have time to wait in the line outside the door and have a chance to fill out all the forms before your number is called. I would return to this location any time for TX DPS services. This office is on the second floor inside the Government Services building.

Had a recent experience at this DPS for first time as I moved to a new address so went for the renewal cum address change. Initially my application was sent to USCIS for an initial verification of the lawful presence. As my DL was expiring before I receive an update from them so I went there to check, despite initial disagreement, Rey on front desk understood my concern and connected me with the manager, she was very courteous and nice enough to explain how I dont need to wait for the letter and can check for my status online and walk-in based on that. So went there today and within few minutes got my license renewed. Also what more I like about this DPS, theyre not overcrowded like the others and are very nice and friendly folks there.

I came to this DMV because other reviews said it was nice, and the building was nice. The woman at the front desk was not. Make your appointment in advance, theyre booked out to March unless you log in at 8AM, then maybe youll get seen that day. Not ideal for a lost license, which I was trying to replace. I was already stressed moving to a new place and losing my license, so I went to the nearest DMV to limit time on the road without my license. Then found out about the appointment system that day, and just clarified that I wouldnt be able to get helped that day, and was met with a passive aggressive Do you have an appointment for today? Clearly not, Im asking how the system works. Means I didnt know 6 hours earlier when that days appointments were available. I know government work is hard and Im sure I asked questions that had been asked dozens of times that day. But I came in on my one day off to a building I had never been in and didnt know about the appointment system, and the way I was responded to ruined my day to the point that Im still thinking about it weeks later. I went to a different DMV the next day and got the replacement.

Online appointment only, no walk in at all, even if you come early in the morning they just tell you to book online. Every morning, someone will cancel so you can book and rebook till you get the date that works for you. Go on the booking website before 7:30am to have a chance of booking same day appointment. The front desk people that help you check the required documents are really nice, but the people at the booth that process your documents have a dark face on, like you owe them money. The tone of the person in the booth is on the verge of being angry even though I didnt do anything. I was scared the whole time. Due to the demanding tone telling me to pull my hair back for the picture, I can barely smile, and my hair is really messy in the photo. The wait after the forms checking line is about 45min. Definitely check if you have all your documents before you come, they are very strict on that. And dont try to walk in, just check the appointment website for the earliest date before 7:30am.

Subject: Issue Raised Regarding the Conduct of Rebecca, DPS Representative in Louisville I am writing to address an issue related to the conduct of Rebecca, a DPS (Department of Public Safety) representative at the Louisville office. On July 23rd, I visited the office for the first time around 4:13 PM. After waiting for approximately 20 minutes, I was kindly guided by a male employee wearing glasses at the rightmost counter. I am an consular officer at the Consulate General located in Dallas, and my vehicle is currently registered under OFM (Office of Foreign Missions), enjoying diplomatic tax exemption and management. Due to recently acquiring permanent residency status, I am now required to register the vehicle in the state of Texas and pay the applicable taxes. This situation is unique within the consulate, as I am the first to encounter it. Considering that my visits to such facilities are infrequent, I understand that there might be some waiting time involved. The aforementioned employee seemed to have difficulty making a determination in my case, as he consulted another colleague before returning to his seat and explaining the situation as follows: I need to pay the tax around $900.00. right on the spot and it is not refundable The outstanding tax amount was significant, nearing $900, and in order to seek clarification, I attempted to make a brief phone call to OFM for verification. During this moment, a staff member named Rebecca, who was seated behind me, abruptly stood up and loudly insisted that I leave immediately as it was time for the office to close. At the time, it was 4:42 PM, and there were still three to four other individuals present, each waiting to address their own concerns. I understand the importance of adhering to closing times; however, I was taken aback by the lack of consideration and understanding displayed by Rebecca. The situation left me feeling rushed and unheard, especially given the significant financial matter at hand. I believe that a more respectful and professional approach could have been taken, which would have better aligned with the values of customer service and diplomatic conduct. Reflecting on this situation, I visited the DPS again on August 7th again. After the same officer checked my the same documents in 3 Min, the same officer said I need to go Dallas County DPS not Lewisville(Denton County) DPS. only to realize later that my issue fell within the jurisdiction of the Dallas County DPS not Lewisville DPS. This realization made me feel that my emotions and time were expended needlessly. I kindly request that this incident be reviewed and addressed, as it is crucial for all individuals seeking assistance to be treated with respect and empathy. I hope that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that similar situations do not occur in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Kyungmok Lim

She tells me I need a w2 to support one of the items I brought. Frustrating but she was very helpful and sympathetic after also telling me I can t get my license in Texas without registering my car. She tells me to go down stairs and see if I can transfer my vehicle. I check in at the kiosk and of course I need 20 (2) other documents to do this. She gave me an appt for tomorrow to come in then so no worries. I show up today and have every item they asked for. I get to the counter and the girl verifies my address. And she says I cannot register here I have to register at DMV in my county. After trying to get everything in order for 6 months now they tell me this. No one told me this yesterday. I am trying to get my license first time and have to come to Lewisville but I can t register my vehicle first time in the same building ??? When I scheduled online none of this information is provide ! And also the girl who helped me yesterday said just to go down stairs but when I get there I can t. All my information provide said GRAPEVINE. The girl at the counter was starting to offer some other form of assistance as I was taking back my paper work, I told her I didn t want her help because this was effing ridiculous. I don t trust them after this. She probably forget to tell me I need to give up my first born and a DNA sample in San Antonio. Everything regarding my car is expired. They don t take walk ins. Appointments are 3 months out EVERY TIME. I think I ll choose a different DMV moving forward. This building is a complete waste of tax payer money. 2 stars because Odayes was sweet and (somewhat) helpful and I also really liked the security guard who checked me in. The lady came out at 7:55 to make the announcement and to let us know that all same day appointments are to be made online through their scheduler. We were then handed a card with a QR code that was supposed to allow us to do that, but it never worked. I tried for 2 hours and gave up. Question is why didnt DPS have the courtesy to notify people earlier, especially as this new policy started last Thursday?? - a simple sign on the door or even online would have been the decent and humane thing to do!!! But no! They just let people suffer and waste their time by lining up for nothing! Do better DPS!!

Worst DMV and worst staff. They dont know how to treat people. They talk to you like you are stupid. I had my appt scheduled since January. Yes I was missing a paper and told me to reschedule. She didnt check the rest of my paperwork. I drove to Wichita Falls location and I got an appt for the same week. Staff there make you feel welcome the minute you walk in and are very helpful. Think twice before going to Lewisville location.

They don t take the time of day to be considerate of what you are trying to say. The moment they see something missing they turn you around, they don t even bother to look at the rest of the documents to be sure there isn t anything else missing so that you can be sure to bring that next time around. This is my 2nd time being denied of getting my license. Both times I had to wait 4-6 months.

Same day Lewisville walk-in success! Overall service is efficient, I didnt wait long before being attended to (approx. 40 mins). Probably cause it was a Wednesday, I read Tue-Thurs are best walk in days. I went to the Lewisville location at 7:30am (it opens at 8am) and there were about 15-20 people on line already. At 8am a representative told us she had only 8 tickets for DL walk-ins and once they ran out that was it. She also encouraged us to try and find same day appointments online at this or other locations because most locations release appointments from prior day cancellations in the morning. This actually worked for a number of us so try it!!!! Timing to book these same day online appointments is anywhere between 7:45 am to 8:15ish (the same day, I cant say this enough!), just continue trying if the first appointment you select is no longer available...dont give up. I got an appointment at a different location (flower mound) for 2:30pm but decided to stay on the 8 ticket line just incase I was lucky...it worked! The representative screens everyone on the line (until the tickets run out) to make sure all documents are correct. If you dont have the required documents youre out of luck. Now, I will say this about the documents, go to the DMV site ahead of time and make sure you have EVERY document listed. Carry more documents than necessary if you doubt they will accept what you have, carry everything, better safe than sorry. Lastly, maintain a positive attitude, what you put out to the world will come back to you. The representatives have a job to do, they dont need you upsetting their work with your attitude. And yes, I cancelled my flower mound appointment, hopefully it made someone elses day.

DPS is bad, this one in Lewisville is the worst. Taking my newly immigrated parents here for driver s license. They don t have SSN yet, so can t make an appointment online. We have to choose walk in for our case. Waited outside for 2h in 30f weather and at 8am we are told that only 8 walk in available a day, so we were let go. I decided to talk with the supervisor of this DPS site, Collins, Her answer to me is, this is how they work. She said I can put in a fake SSN: 1234 to make an appointment online and come back again in April. I replied to her I don t want to lie on their SSN and she said it s not a lie it s ok, that s how the system work. I replied her again saying ok can you show me any written doc that saying the same because my parents are still in the immigrantion process and I don t feel good to type a fake SSN on a Texas gov website. She has no answer for that. I insist to have her full name and title. She is very reluctant to give me those info as a public servant. Collins also said if I come in the very early morning and wait outside of the building before business which is 8am, she can call the police and charge me with trans passing. Seriously! This is a public building, me coming early in the line to fits your working style is transpassing? Collins also said they give 8 walk in number every day is out of their mercy. Remember we are the tax payer, you are hired to serve and help us, not because you are a merciful person!!

They only take appointment and all appointments is 3 and 6 months out. It s no reason this place shouldn t be open to the public to get the help they need. It s sad, with millions of people living in Texas and you can t get the help you need. This is laziness at the fullest and the government should be ashamed. They do not set example for the public, I see why the people don t follow the law. It s sad you can get in a welfare line and get food stamp faster than you can get identification card to get a job.

Just remeber they are also under stress when dealing with large upset groups of people, they are just doing their job. For your DL please make sure everything is printed, they need to scan in a copy for your records. Once again the DMV proves to be one of the most ineffectively managed institutions on the planet. After scheduling an appointment, gathering all necessary documentation, taking off work, drive 45 minutes to the location, check-in via text, and arriving early as requested/suggested....I was met by an employee who informed me the equipment was down and I would have to come back later. Now I understand that the personnel at the office are not members of Geek Squad nor are they IT System Administrators, I pose this question: If I can get appointment reminders and check-in prompts via text, is it possible to get Hey, dont worry about driving out here. Lets reschedule. texts? On a positive note, the facility overall is beautiful.

Lewisville - Texas Department of public safety It was time to renew my DL and unfortunately getting it taken care of online was not an option this time. After reading reviews online I decided to set my appointment online 4 months early just in case of any unforseen hiccups that could potentially happen, luckily I did. Youre given options with different places on days and time availabilities. I made my selection and opted for text message reminder. I received my confirmation text right a way. (so far so good) Than the week of the appointment I receive a message on the requirements for the road test prior to your appointment. ( 1st hiccup - Im just needing to renew my license). So every day that week I would attempt to call the office for clarification but would be on hold for a long time with no assistance. Day of the appointment I arrive 30 minutes early, the woman that checked me in said your going to need your birth certificate or passport for proof of citizenship. (2nd hiccup) I didnt have my birth certificate on me. ARE YOU SERIOUS..... Im just renewing my license. I leave to get the certificate and head back to the office. Two hours later I make it back to their office they close at 5:00 I arrived back at 4:30. The same woman at the check out is there raised her voice to me I would have held an opening for you to come back but you just walked out. And we dont have any appointments available now . At this point Im really getting agitated. There were only a few opened windows that people were being assisted on and that was it. There was no one else waiting on line.... Seriously. .. its 4:30 you close 5:00 and you cant fit me in. I will never come here ever again. Poor customer service!

Moved to Texas recently and the soonest appointment was 3 months out. Fast forward to that appointment, everything was going pretty smoothly. The line was short and I was seen quickly. However, once I was seen I was met with an unprofessional and rude employee. I carefully read over license requirements for the state of Texas multiple times before this appointment. I brought my out of state license, social security card, and two documents to prove I live in Texas. I was told that I was missing a lot and that my lease was not an acceptable form of documentation, and that my social security card did not prove I was lawfully here . I expressed my disappointment as I, like many others, waited quite some time for this appointment only to be turned away. She told me she would be considerate and allow me an hour to return with proper documents, but I have decided I will reschedule elsewhere. I d rather not meet this employee again and have eyes rolled at me despite following all guidelines. They pick and choose the license requirements daily, I guess. Depends on the mood of the employee. Never returning.

Absolutely the worst Drivers License office I ve ever been to. 1st the lady at the desk was extremely rude and not helpful. I actually came in to get my son his first license after waiting 3 months for the appointment. The proof needed listed was missing the 6 hour course that is required before a permit can be given well you should list that in the requirements section so people don t waste time. Then part of the process you have to provide proof of residency at no time did it state the name had to be the same example my document said Mike where my birth certificate said Michael. Obviously you can t tell me someone can t realize that s the abbreviation of Michael. You just want to complicate the procedure and cause people to get aggravated. Then the lady quickly goes on to the next person, well she didn t even offer me to be able to email the documents as another person suggested so I got back in line and sure enough I could have emailed a document. This lady clearly didn t care about helping anyone. As I say there listening as people came in she was completely rude to every single person. And as people had the same exact issue as me she still didn t offer to help any of them. So I started telling people about the email and people were able to proceed. You clearly need to make sure the documents required section specifically states the names must match on all documents and list the documents needed. This is help move along the process. You need to teach this person some courtesy and teach her to assist people not just push them aside. This office is horrible and I ll never set foot in this one again. But it doesn t have to be such a horrible experience, I get it you get aggravated people but don t cause the aggravation! Be kind to others imagine this was you being helped don t be a jerk to people! Shame on you guys for allowing people to treat others like this, we pay for your service don t make it a regrettable service. It s a privilege to drive it s not a privilege to be a rude individual!

Firstly the DMV system is stupid. They need you to get a drivers license in the first 90 days and they don t have an appointment until 6 months. So we go and stand in line without an appointment at 6 in the morning and they only had 8 tokens to hand out. Then we attempt again the next day at 5 in the morning and we were third in line hoping to get in. I was there for a DL as my current out of state license is expiring and we just moved to TX. We took all the documents that were mentioned per the instructions on the site and this lady who provides the tokens asked me if I own a car and I said yes. She asked me for the registration which I dint have at hand and I don t see it in the instructions that it was mandatory as I had other proofs of address and identity. I said I will get it from my car which was 10 feet away and she was not helpful. My wife was able to get in as she dint own a car. I got the registration and showed it to her 2 mins later and she still dint give the token. The DMV should hire more folks or offices setup with increased incoming requests. The service was good as they do seem helpful but I was disappointed in the appointment system and how early someone has to stand in line if they need something sooner.
