Stopped in with 2 couples. Ordered drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Spent over $300 combined, and we were disappointed. 1) lobster beignets came out within 3 minutes. Pre made, no flavor or authenticity to it. 2) Mixed drinks across the board were not good, and bartender was inexperienced. French 75 cost 18 bucks. Dirty martini terrible, French 75 tasted like soap. 3) Steak and redfish pretty good. All the sides were sub-par at best. Potatoes were so salty that they were unbearable. 4) lemon cake and smore desserts tasted similar to a carnival cruise dessert selection. Mass production quality. Tried to be too fancy, overlooked quality, and authenticity. Most important lacked soul. The menu was difficult to read and understand. This place needs a serious reset. We wont come back without good reason.

Chips were great too. I came back for another try. Menu items are put together like ive never seen before. Cant wait to try them all. Next Ill try the pizza, heard it was delicious as well.

I would give them a - didn t even get to try the food hostess very unprofessional. Me and my fiancé went there after church getting there by 11:15 am out of about 50 tables there where 2 tables with customers we asked to be seated just for 2 of us she had the nerve to ask us if we wanted to sit at the bar I was very hurt about that and then we asked her what s wrong with all those tables when she said it s for other people oh did I mention I m Hispanic and my fiancé is black what does that tell you . Please people don t go there unless you want to be turned down like we were. After about 10 mnts she said ok I have a table we are like it s ok we will just go somewhere else.

This place is outstanding!!! I walked up to the restaurant someone opened the door for us and we were immediately seated. The waiters are very nice and all of the food is amazing. My table ordered the lobster Beignets and were very satisfied, got a salad, the beef stroganoff and elote ravioli which I recommend to anyone! I mentioned that it was my birthday and they came out with a dessert called Ube (oo-bay) cheesecake which is now my new favorite dessert! For sure recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice local meal!

We totally enjoyed our meal at Slate. Our server was attentive and very helpful. They have a very nice wine selection and the cocktails we saw looked delicious and the food we ordered was great. We highly recommended the Gumbo Pizza, Elote Ravioli and the Stroganoff. The only thing we probably would have liked to have seen was that the restaurant s lighting was not so bright. A little bit cozier feel would have been nice. All in all the food was awesome and we will be back!

Had a fun drink here and it was good with a lot of detail on the garnish (love that!). In saying that, the drink menu Frances from $14-$22 which is in my opinion extremely pricy for a drink. We ve seen this place so many time s driving by and were really excited for a unique, chill and possibly upscale vibe based on the prices. We went for brunch and there was a DJ playing Beyoncé and the TV was on the Beyoncé and Rihanna station. Mind you I love both of these singers completely, but was not the vibe we were expecting, especially for brunch. Somewhat disappointed, and based on the ambiance the first visit I don t think we ll be back. It may just not be our thing, and hoping they do well!

Very interesting place - nice cocktail selection, very nice wine selection - odd menu. It would be a great place for happy hour except there were really only two shareable items on the menu and both were fried. The dinner menu had many options, but if you are looking to eat healthier - this isnt your place. Even the fish option is battered, fried, and covered in (delicious) gravy with fried cauliflower as the side. I recommend it if you want to splurge in terms of calories!

Went for brunch on Sunday early around 1100. Wasnt crowded and were seated right away. Atmosphere was pleasant and it was super cute. I got the XOXO espresso martini flight which was really good. Also got the tropical mule which was good and pretty with the flowers in it. The hubby got the bottomless mimosas which are batch made. They were good, could have had more champagne but we understand when its bottomless, batch is easier for them to manage. For food I got the bougie in the morning... Which was vague on the menu, turns out it is a breakfast burger. It was really good. Sunny side egg needed a little longer but it was fine, and the American cheese wasnt fully melted but it didnt take away from it. However I would recommend they add to the menu description that it is in fact a burger cuz no where did it mention anything about beef patties or such, I thought it was gunna be toast. Hubby got the steak and hash. He said it was really good too but it was more like chopped potatoes than hash, but still good. The house made chips are excellent and should be added by themselves on the menu for snacks. Over all we will be back to try their lunch and dinner menus!

I was super excited to try this place out. We went on Sunday after brunch to try out the cocktails. For a $25 drink the service better be immaculate and it was subpar to say the least. The bartender had no idea what she was doing, took her about 25-35 minutes to make us two drinks that were nothing special. The table next to the bar was annoyed they couldnt get any service either. And there was only 3 tables full in the whole place and no one else at the bar. The worst part was the awful jazz elevator music they had playing. You think for such a beautiful new cool place theyd at least play music that is trendy. We didnt try to food but we probably wont be back.

OMG! Finally! We have a hip place on south 45 that has amazing drinks and culinary focused dishes. The drinks are unique and fun and thoughtful and creative. The food is so delicious and just the right amount. We had drinks called basilica and the Ashton Martin. Both unique and delicious. Next was Caesar salad with fried cauliflower croutons. For dinner we had brick chicken and stroganoff. We couldn t tell you which was better because we loved them both. We re going back for some other dishes we wanted to try! The whole meal was $100, which was really reasonable. Stephanie, our server was great and attentive, even being busy. She was genuinely excited about the choices we made and told us about her favorites. My only critique is the atmosphere could be improved. It was a little bright and the tables were a little cramped together. I think these are minor and are certainly not detractors. We can t wait to go back. Parking: Parking at night, not an issue. I can see parking getting slim during the hours when the other businesses are open.

Picked up some quick takeout on my way home. Ill start off with saying that the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The hostess even opened the door for me when I walked up. The food was ready once I got there so thats a plus. I ordered the stroganoff because its been one of my favorites since childhood. I was going to make it but decided to try out Slate. I was kind of disappointed because it was not a stroganoff sauce but rather Alfredo sauce with mushrooms on pappardelle with a NY strip on top. It was no where near a stroganoff, so I was sadly disappointed. If Im paying $27 for stroganoff, I expect a stroganoff. Even for an Alfredo sauce, it was kind of bland. There was barely any mushrooms in the dish. The steak was delicious and cooked perfected, so it kind of helped it, but they melted a whole bunch of parmesean cheese on top of the steak, which further lead me to think this was a Alfredo sauce. The garlic knot that came with it was good, but mine was half burnt on 1 side. There was only 4 people when I went, so theres no reason to put out burnt food.

Really cute restaurant, it is on the smaller side, I imagine it just recently opened because when I went although the service was great, there were only two people working upfront and I felt bad for them because they were having to be the hostess, bartender and waiter/waitress for all tables. Food was good, I ordered the chicken sandwich, nothing special. I liked the lavender tea they had. It is on the pricier side for food so be prepared. Place was clean would probably come back.

Nice atmoshere with cloth napkins and flowers on the tables. I normally only post positive reviews, and feel this place deserves one. This is my first time there. My wife and I went for dinner tonight and were very pleased. I had The Spaghetti. The sauce was flavorful and the pasta perfect texture with a good salt to it. My wife had the Steak Salad at medium rare. Fantastic cut and cook. We also ordered the fried cauliflower. The blanco sauce was nice, but the creole mayo sauce was great and reminded me of chipotle in adobo sauce. It had some sautéed broccolini on the plate that was also stupid good. We didnt order a cocktail, but the bottle of decoy featherweight Sauvignon blanc we shared was only $30. Same bottle retails at $19.99 at stores, so that is an appropriate markup for a restaurant and lower than I am accustomed to. The servers were very attentive and kind. I am looking forward to going back to try other dishes. I am also going to post this same review to Yelp because I dont see many for this place.

Not very big for the amount charged for the drink. Ordered mojito. It came with lime and cucumbers in it. Didnt like the cucumbers in a mojito. Had lunch there on a Wednesday afternoon 12:30 pm - 1:30pm. Made reservations but didnt need it. There were a total of 8 persons dining. Service was good. Bartender didnt know how to make majito. Went thinking going to be a great experience, really good ratings. Unfortunately for lunch today I ordered the Brick Chicken with Cheesy Polenta and Green Beens. Neither the Menu or Server said that the Chicken is coated in a Fiery Hot Sauce, while eating I mentioned this to my server with no offers to fix. As it took 30 minutes to get my food I was not willing to fight for a replacement. The Polenta was tasty but cold and most inedible as it was coated in Hot Sauce. The Green Beens were so hard that they were inedible as well. Rather disappointed that a nice new restaurant didn t at least offer to fix the problem. All I got was an I m sorry and a Check for the full amount.

We were lucky enough to attend Slates opening night and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The burger and the chicken fried red fish were both fantastic the fish was particularly flaky and delicious. The cocktails were well-made with quality ingredients, though we found them a bit overpriced compared to similar restaurants; for instance, at Eau Tour in Rice Village and Nancys Hustle in EaDo, cocktails were $4-6 cheaper. The food was well-priced with a good selection of options, and the wine list seemed well-curated and appropriately priced. Despite the expected delays of opening night, the staffs attentiveness and friendliness made the wait barely noticeable. We were checked on by at least eight different people, all genuinely concerned with ensuring we were enjoying ourselves.Overall, we cant wait to return and explore the full menu!
