This is my 1st time experiencing a pet hospital so I m not sure on an expectation one should have. I was checked in immediately, girls behind the desk were very friendly. It s a hospital so surely you re going to have to wait, pack your patience. The doctor was very informative and the facility was super clean. I know where to come in case of an emergency in the future with my kitties. Thank you VCA!

I brought my dog in with a suspected bowel obstruction after he got into the garbage three days earlier. He had been vommitting, not eating/drinking, lethargic and had labored breathing. I explained a very detailed timeline and noted every issue with specific times. The notes delivered from the tech to the vet were inaccurate. I corrected them to the vet and she made no adjustments to the chart. They performed a series of x-rays that the vet advised she could not truly use to determine what was wrong with him without an additional $1500 worth of testing and sending the x-rays off to someone who could actually read them. I was quoted $4,000 for an overnight stay with IV fluids, x-rays (or further evaluation of them) and meds. I did not have the money so they adjusted the quote. I left with subcutaneous fluids that did not help, a nausea shot and my bill was $1,000. My dog barely made it through the night and I rushed him to our family vet this morning. He has been on fluids and this vet has contradicted every statement that the VCA made regarding the plan of action excluding fluids. I inquired about pricing of several items that I was quoted including the x-rays and VCA was TRIPLE every single line item. I cannot stress enough how criminal the pricing at this facility should be and how little they did to treat my dog. My $1,000 couldve been spent in far more efficient and life-saving ways at my family vet.

I dropped my dog off to have a sock removed that he swallowed. His intestines were obstructed and he needed surgery. They waited 24 hours to conduct the surgery. After the surgery was successful 4.5 hours later my 2 year old dog died. They said it was a blood clot though something feels off with that excuse. I think they dropped the ball during surgery and a few other doctors I have spoke to agree. I will never bring another pet to this place. cant beat paying 7k for a surgery for a dead dog. The doctors beside manner also came off as being very smug when asking what killed my dog.

Brought my 18 year old cat in for what, to me, appeared very scary, and I was very worried. Melissa, the receptionist was so very sweet from the moment we walked in and helped to put us at ease as our cat was examined. Dr. Moseley, the vet who took care of our cat, was also very kind, personable, and excellent at explaining was happening and what to expect. The entire team we encountered while we were there were truly caring! I would highly recommend this emergency veterinarian center! Thank you all for your fantastic care in treating our old lady kitty cat!

I am so disgusted & so disappointed in this facility! Last night, my 8 week old toy poodle was brought in for vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, & labored breathing (which worsened as we waited in the waiting room.) I figured he would either need hospitalization or an IV placement. However, they did a chest x ray, a parvo test, & gave him fluids subcutaneously which did not help AT ALL. Considering how small he is, I would have assumed that would be the BEST level of care to give him. When I asked the vet if she thought that was the best course of action, she informed me that at this time (knowing on assessment his gums were pale, knowing how lethargic he was, knowing that he was vomiting) that she felt comfortable for him to go home for home care. He was prescribed Amoxicillin orally when he could ve gotten it via IV route. I called back after taking him home to inform them that I was concerned, because he vomited all of the medication! I was told to redose half the amount, but I knew he would continue to vomit. I hesitated on agreeing with the plan of care to take him home at first, because after receiving EXCELLENT CARE at Vergi 24/7 in Houston, I knew they would have elected for my puppy to receive IV fluids. The estimate came out to $1,138.51 JUST for them to send him home in worse condition than he was when he arrived! Today, I had to bring my puppy back to the ER (Vergi 24/7, where they will hospitalize him and give him the fluids I knew he needed!) please do not bring your fur pets here!!!! I did not feel confident with their care.

I brought my shih tzu in on a Sunday evening around 6:15 pm because she wasnt eating or drinking water, and she was acting differently than her normal self. I waited several hours for a doctor to see her; I understand that they have to triage patients, but I would have appreciated some sort of an update on how much longer I would have to wait there. There was no communication from the staff about this. When the doctor finally did see her, he diagnosed her behavior as stress-induced because I had returned from a trip the week prior, and noted that she had some GI issues. Please keep in mind that my dog is not the kind of dog who gets anxiety whenever Im gone; shes the most chill, laid back dog I know. He told me that its ok if she doesnt eat anything for up to 3 days (!!), gave me some Trazadone to take home to sedate her, and we finally left after 10 pm. Well, I am SO glad I brought her to my regular vet the next morning because they discovered she had a herniated disc and was in extreme pain. She will have to be on crate rest for the next few weeks. My vet told me that because this wasnt caught earlier, they have to be very aggressive in their treatment--and now shes on 5 different medications and sedatives. I am extremely disappointed and upset that VCA was so lax and careless in their diagnosis. Further, I had to call VCA several times that week to get the doctors notes in order to submit a claim to my pet insurance company. In the end, I spent $700 for the doctor to completely misdiagnose my dog and waste 4 hours of my time. Please DO NOT take your pets to this hospital; find another VCA location, or better yet, take them to another hospital altogether.

Took our cat, who had a nasty infection and wasnt sure if hed make it another day without at least some kind of medicine not only did we pay 175 dollars for an inspection alone that was maybe 2 minutes for something obvious but they made it seem like the only options were amputation or euthanasia so we took him to another vet where they did their 1000+ dollar price of cleaning and treating with other stuff included for 150 with antibiotics, pain meds, disinfect, and a cone after cleaning. We did still buy antibiotics and for 60 youd expect maybe a bottle for a week or 5 days at least but it lasted 2 1/2 days-5 doses, before it was out when improvement is in 7-10 days and the pain meds lasting a week or so. How is something that would help save his life more expensive and in less quantity than a pain med? So unless you have money to spare for your pet, think they might not make it with help or just need to euthanize, probably worth waiting for a regular vet early in the morning. The veterinarian also talked to us only once for 3 minutes and never came back. So, the assistants/techs had to answer all our questions, but they seemed to be kind and caring people, and I cant take away from them.

My poor, poor kitty didnt end up making it when he got sick from a dog bite... But lets be clear: that is NOT the fault of these wonderful people. They let my sister and I bring my ailing feline here at a somewhat odd time of day (early night?) and took the situation very seriously. Minimal paperwork and attentive staff means my dear Asperagus got the emergency treatment he needed as soon as possible. The bill wasnt anything the scoff at, though that was probably just because of how sick he really was. I certainly dont blame the staff for that, especially after they let me stay there while my sister drove home to get our dads credit card to help pay the, well, quite large bill. Im pretty sure they dont legally have to let anyone do that, and they were very understanding the entire time. My cat didnt make it, but his death would have been much sooner and far more painful were it not for the wonderful people there.

They dont do dental! I brought my dog in, clearly stating she had an abscess. The desk made no mention they would be unable to do anything about it, but were happy to see her. $300 later yep she has an abscess, you should take her to a vet... Thanks for wasting my time and money, the next place is going to want the same opportunity to confirm this and charge for it. Also, my babies see pediatricians, not veterinarians. Theres some confusion about that here, but most Vets have this misunderstanding to one degree or another. The facility seems well kept, and service was prompt, probably due to the empty waiting room when I walked in.

We came home to find our silver lab Dakota had gotten into some medication and was in great distress. It was Friday night and this location was closest to us. We arrived with my lab in my arms. They quickly checked us in and took her back. They helped us get in touch with poison control and we came up with a treatment plan. We all were so worried and concerned for her. I didnt think she was going to make it. We asked lots of questions and they helped us understand what was happening to our dog and what we might expect to happen over the next few days. It wasnt good news, but it was helpful. They ended up sedating her that first night and told us that she needed to stay possibly until Sunday night or even Monday. Here is what I want to say about her stay. We could at any time call them or text them for an update. We could also drop in at any time and go see her. When we called, we would get to talk to the vet. They kept us in the loop from start to finish. They gave us a run down of the costs and updated us when things changed. While very expensive, which we were kinda expecting, the whole process was smooth, professional and we felt that they were taking 5 star care of our dog. In the end our lab came back to us. She metabolized the drugs (which were muscle relaxers) and we were able to take her home, under her own power, on Monday morning. She is back to normal and I would not hesitate to bring her back here again if she needed emergency care. I thank you, my daughter thanks you and Kota thanks you.

I have been going to VCA Animal Emergency Hospital Southeast Calder Road since 2015. Over the years, Ive brought many animals with emergency needs to them, most with life-threatening issues. Its been a long road with them, and I never thought they would put me or any of my babies through anything like this. I have a few other different complaints, but it is with communication and does not have anything to do with patient care. The medical complaint began on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6:02 pm. I called the clinic, announced who I was, and let them know that I had a male stray puppy found covered in ants and maggots and needed urgent attention. I let them know that I did not know where this baby came from or his medical history. To be careful, we came up with a plan of him going straight back to room 4 and closing the door so no other animals were possibly contaminated. I was waiting for my transporter to show up to the emergency clinic, so I announced that I had arrived, but the baby was still on his way. I waited in the main lobby area for about 10 minutes until they showed up. Once he arrived, we went directly to room 4 and closed the door. We waited in there with the puppy needing urgent medical attention for about 15 minutes. One of the front staff members came into the room with a manager of the clinic, Lisa, on the phone. She explained there is a note on my account that my dogs are only to be seen by Dr. Palm. I questioned why this was, and she did not have the answer for me. I asked her why no one told me this when I called to let them know what was going on or when I was waiting in the waiting room for him to show up. Lisa said she did not know. She said Dr. Hauke was refusing to see the dying puppy in my arms due to this alert on my account. To make sure I understood her correctly I repeated back to her, What you are saying is that I have a puppy needing urgent medical attention and your doctor is refusing to see him because of a note on my account that should have never been placed on it? Lisa said, Correct. Im so sorry. I told her that I wanted to be very clear and make sure that she understands that if something happens to this puppy and he doesnt make it that I would make sure that VCA paid for there poor decision. Lisa replied, Yes maam. I am so sorry. I gave the cell phone back to the front receptionist that brought it in the room, got up, and rushed out of there to get him to a different emergency clinic that would see him. Thankfully, I was able to get him to Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists, and they were able to save his life. I have attached photos. These photos only include his wounds after the ants and maggots were removed. He needed a blood transfusion and many other things to survive! I have always paid my bills and have only ever been nice and cordial to these individuals. They save lives! So I thought. I guess they get to choose what lives they want to save. The oath they took when they became doctors meant nothing, I guess. So disappointing!

My sweet cat had a seizure during boarding at a different clinic and was taken here at midnight on a holiday. I was devastated and have never been through something like this in my life. Dr. Moseley called me frequently to update me and give me realistic opinions on the outcome of each treatment option. Unfortunately after we exhausted every option with no success, I was able to make it out to VCA. The team here was so caring. My cat had been cared for so well by tech Sydney, and everyone from Dr. Moseley to the woman at the front desk were incredibly understanding and made the process as easy as possible. What was an absolutely terrible night for me was made significantly better in memory because of the staff here. I would absolutely 1,000% recommend this place to anyone in need of critical care.

I am truly disgusted with what we have gone thru dealing with this clinic. We trusted them to handle euthanasia for our elderly cat and the sending her off for cremation. We specifically requested a bigger fur clipping of her before sending her off. They assured us, several times, they would. And we left. We were also told the other company that would handle the cremation, would call to finalize paperwork and make sure everything was correct before taking payment and cremating our cat. They never called. Its not their policy, so VCA lied. We were waiting on this phone call to add a second name to the nameplate on the urn we chose. After getting a call from the clinic that our cat was back, I questioned this and was told, oh just call the other place. After making the hour and a half drive back to VCA to pick up my cat, the clinic manager, Lisa seemed more concerned that she didnt have their copy of the receipt than the fact that I was asking for where the fur clipping was. She tried to tell me that the cremation place messed up. I had to tell her a couple times, no it was people at this clinic that assured me I would get that. She kept saying she had to find the reciept. I stated this was pretty bad since i cant just simply go get kore fur from my cat. She looked at me and asked well, what do you want us to do? I siad i guess find the receipt and see what it says. Then shes like well, let me go talk to someone. I had to leave, as I was extremely upset. This cat was like my child for the last 12 years. I had my husband call back and magically she had already left, within the 10 minutes, where I was sitting in the parking lot watching her behind the desk. I stayed there just in case they magically found the fur clippings. They did not. I guess I should feel lucky that I at least got the right ashes back, as another review stated they used the in house cremation option and got a cat back instead of their dog. :-( Im upset at the amount of money we paid them, to entrust them with this. They did offer a courtesy refund of the exam fee, which totals about half the bill for that night. Not including the cremation charge we paid to the other service. Our bill at VCA was $385, cremation was another $195. However, $175 back to us, doesnt make up for the fact that they did this and dont seem to care. Their last comment was that they would discuss it in the next staff meeting. The lack of compassion here was extremely unsettling. I even commeted to my husband on our way home the night we took our cat in, that the vet himself seemed cold and upset he was there. Then made the excuse that maybe he just had a rough day. As a vet tech myself I can understand that. And I can u derstand accidents, but have some compassion with the person you just made their worst day, worse, due to your lack of actions.

There should be 0 stars. Yesterday I took my dog baby here because there is no ER in Galveston open on Sunday. BAD MISTAKE, she left worse than what I took her in for. After paying $300 for the visit which $100 was for meds, which made her sicker, she threw up and had diarrhea (pooped) all over the place. I took her in for not eating for 72 hours. They gave her pain meds..WHY. They took her back after an hours wait, and after 4 hours there I did not get my dog back until after payment. I was never told what was wrong, but they were charging $1000 for blood and X-rays. I am not sure they even examined her, because I never saw her after they took her back. They gave her pain meds, but why if they did not diagnose her. How did they know she was in pain? I have never taken her to someone who hide what they did. I dont know if they gave her something to make her sicker for me to bring her back. No-one explain anything and didn t make me feel better after asking questions. I spoke to 2 people on the phone and they told me something different that was wrong and after getting my money told me to take her to her home vet. Why would you give her a med that said take with food if I brought her for not eating. The meds they prescribe made her look like she was dying. They blamed it on me because I did not have a $1000 extra dollars for them. Because of that, Noone even try to figure out was actually wrong. They arw more concern about money than taking care of our babies. This was heart breaking. Worst vet experience.Horrible place. Im for sure they really do not care, They got their money, but these are our babies. I RECOMMEND TO STAY AWAY from this place

We had a great, fast, friendly service here. My dog swallowed a popsicle stick whole. We brought her in on Sunday afternoon (they were packed and had several emergency cases). Everyone was friendly and helpful. The vet tech took her back after about 5 min for vitals. They didn t have any rooms so they brought her back out, but they were understanding that it was a time sensitive issue if they wanted to be able to have her vomit it up. The vet talked to us and then they went ahead and took her back even though they had no rooms. 5 min later they came back with the popsicle stick. They gave her some meds to make her nausea go away and we were out the door in less than 1 hour total and for a shockingly affordable price for emergency care. I was impressed with the care in general but especially knowing how busy they were and how many emergent cases kept coming in even as we sat there.

JOKE BUSINESS. I came here to get my dog seen for an abscess on his neck from a dog bite. We were there for 4 hours before they even started to treat my dog. Then the male vet with dark long hair walks in and tells me my dog bit one of their assistants and they need his proof of rabies vaccines. At this point it is midnight and I told him I told the vet assistant who got him 4 hours prior he needed to be muzzled because he doesn t do well at vets. I m assuming they forgot or the original vet tech probably clocked out at that point. He said when they were trying to put the muzzle on him is when he bit her. I just told them to bring me my dog because I heard him screaming and barking a couple minutes before. When they bring him out the area where he has the abscess was shaven down therefore they were working on him without the muzzle in order for the bite to even happen. He looked worse than he did when he came in. Oh and just for them to see him, shave and clean the area was $414. I feel like they were chasing money that s why they brought up rabies and the vet lied to my face very unprofessional. side-note: the vet referred to my dog as a she he isn t even neutered, so I don t think he himself even took a good look at my dog..

I dont usually write reviews, but feel a need to here. My dog went by there late in the evening after getting her tail clipped on a closing door and was bleeding. Dr Saviori hadnt sedated her yet but said it seemed like it was just tissue damage. She gets sedated, they cauterize the bleed and dress the wound. She comes out and is wagging her tail and the dressing comes off. We take her back to redress it and Im with her this time to keep her calm. I see a white tip exposed on the tail and the tech redresses the wound quickly without me ever seeing Dr Saviori again. I take our dog to our normal vet a few days later (per recommendations of VCA discharge instructions) and she undoes the dressing to see exposed bone. Our vet was baffled and actually visibly disgusted. She asked if we were ever offered an amputation there as there is zero chance this tail would heal with exposed bone and no surrounding skin to suture. We never were. As I mentioned I NEVER saw Dr Saviori following our dog being sedated. In summary, I was charged over $700 to bandage my dogs tail with exposed bone and sent on my way. No explanation or concern that this tail would need to be amputated and likely best to have it done while she was sedated that night. Not sure who Im more disappointed in, the vet Dr Saviori or VCA. Never going back again

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE, ESPECIALLY FOR CAT CARE!! We took my active meowing cat here this weekend for a simple visit and my baby had to be put down within the next 5 hours. Beyond devastated, the staff lied straight to our face about my cats activity upon release stating he was active and walking, the second we got in the car we opened his carrier and he was face down unable to open his eyes, he stayed like this for the next 4 hours until we rushed to another emergency vet in Houston where he had to be put down. With a medical background I was confused at the backwards procedure but chalked it up to not being familiar with cats and their anatomy but I was wrong and should have trusted my knowledge and gut. I am full of regret bringing my baby to a vet that murdered him. PLEASEEE if you love your animals think of bringing them to an open concept emergency center where all procedures will be don t in front of the owners such as the Veterinary Emergency Group. So drive the extra miles unless you want to bring your happy active pet to a VCA and bring home a wet blanket of your baby. Words cant describe how sad we are, save yourself $$$ and some heartbreak and go somewhere else.

There is no possibility of this, I told them how this was not possible and for them to try and figure out what it actually was so they could take the right protocol. They insisted that it was so they asked if they could drug test and I agreed. Then they said they couldn t because she was dehydrated they didn t even bother to give her water, they insisted she was going to die but gave her nothing. They then said they were going to keep her 18 hours to give her fluids that would be over $2k. She didn t explain anything and didn t make me feel better after asking questions. Every question I had I was wrong. And the only right diagnosis was that she had ingested marijuana. This was the laziest professional I ve met. She didn t even try to figure out was actually wrong. Worst vet experience.

Taking the time to write a review is the least I could do for the angels that work at VCA Calder. We arrived at about 4:30am with our little Stanlee, when I say little I mean a whole 1.8lbs. Stanlee was in such distress and barely hanging on, they quickly scooped him up and went to work. Dr. Moseley, Stephen, Rachel and all the staff are such a blessing to this hospital. Dr. Moseley went above and beyond, he answered all our questions, guided us as to what needed to be done, and just showed such a compassionate heart. I could go on and on, but just know your fur baby is in the best hands as soon as you enter the door.

Within just a few minutes they were able to get him stabilized & his airway cleared. I dont know what I would do without my Tinkey and I dont know what I would have done without such quick thinking and compassionate emergency veterinarian care. Thank you

Update Oct 30 2023. I continue to leave a 5 star review after having my big momma in twice last night. They were able to help her and when we had to go back the visit was covered by the initial charge which is good for 24 hrs. They are an Emergency Vet. They will not be cheap. In my opinion they are worth every penny. Original past August 2019. I took my two dogs in with snake bites which Dr Paige quickly diagnosed as venomous. They were compassionate, friendly, efficient and both my girls came home the next morning. Ive had 3 other pets there over the years. Even though they are quite expensive I highly recommend them.

I took my 10 year old dog here on a recent weekend after noticing a large mass on her shoulder that we initially thought might be inflammation due to an allergic reaction, but turned out to be a large lipoma. We were able to get in after a short wait time, and Dr. Plummer and her staff were able to examine my dog quickly. Dr. Plummer suggested an abdominal ultrasound as a precaution, and Im so glad she did. Despite having no symptoms, my dog had a large mass on her spleen. We were able to schedule surgery with our regular vet the following week, and thankfully, the spleen (and lipoma of course) were benign. If Dr. Plummer hadnt have done the US, the mass could have ruptured, leading to a life threatening condition. I really appreciate VCAs care of my dog and Dr. Plummer and her staff.

My black lab was not feeling well. Minor vomiting, lack of appetite, lethargic, etc. She had a history of eating foreign objects once before, but was able to pass it. I took her hear on Saturday 9/2 and the doctor she saw marked it down as gastrointestinal issue and gave her pain an nausea medicine and sent her home. We suggest possibly doing x-rays to make sure there wasnt a foreign object, but it was not heeded. After the pain medicine wore off, she still had the same symptoms as before, so we took he back the next day. The doctor we saw, Dr. Vandorford, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He suggest doing x-rays and possibly checking for pancreatitis. Sure enough, from the x-rays there was a foreign object and He suggest to operate on my dog based on the radiologist review of the foreign object. They operated on her that evening and found the object and removed it. I am glad we did operate because after the surgery, Dr. Vanderford said she wouldnt have been able to pass the foreign object. We were very satisfied with Dr. Vanderford and we thank him for his time and consideration throughout the whole process. The reason why I put 3 stars is because of not heeding a possible foreign object, despite telling the Dr. on the first day that it happened once before and her symptoms were the same as before. I basically paid $770 for medicine on the first day. It is frustrating that the $770 went to basically, waste. I obviously had to pay the additional for the surgery on the next day, which was very expensive. Other than that, the staff was very nice and helpful. I have always believed that vets that treat livestock, or use to treat livestock, are the best vets and Dr. Vanderford use to treat livestock. In my personal opinion, take that into consideration when choosing a vet.

We just adopted a dog this week and scheduled an appointment to establish care with a vet later in the week. However, he woke us up coughing and heaving. We brought him to this clinic at midnight. The assistants and desk staff were friendly enough. There was more emphasis on getting my initials on the paperwork than listening to the problem or watching the video I took off his coughing fits from earlier in the night. The tech bonding with my dog quickly and got lots of love. When the vet entered the room, everything went downhill. He crouched behind my dog and began to push on his throat and beat his back side while the assistant was holding him down from the front. The vet made no attempt to bond or acknowledge my dog before prodding him. He looked trapped and surrounded. He growled, my assumption in pain or fear. I called him and comforted him by petting his head and face. The vet s reaction was a bit shaming and dramatic. He stood back in the corner and told me that I need to watch out because this dog has an aggression problem. He stood in silence for a bit, and it felt shaming. I explained that his behavior was very friendly, in general, and asked if it could be the circumstances and that he s sick. I had not seen a problem all week and he s been around a variety of people and pets. I told him that we have not noticed that behavior. He clearly behaved as if he didn t believe me. I was asking questions about why he might growl: pain, feeling sick, being scared. Is there something stuck in his throat, etc? Dr. Palm rolled his eyes at me and continued to tell me that my dog is a problem. He was condescending and sprinkled little insults about the growling throughout his speech. I was on the defense, having to prove I was a good, responsible pet owner. I confronted him about his attitude and eye rolling. He told me he didn t appreciate my denial that my dog tried to attack the staff. We disagreed about the event. I didn t notice any attempts to bite anyone. He told me that he would be sure to make a note in our files that we would not return and would never get future service at his clinic. Regarding the hacking and vomiting He didn t listen to what the problem was, and there was a communication gap between him and the rest of the staff. For example, he said it must be kennel cough because he hasn t vomited. Yet, I told both assistants that my dog vomited clear fluid within the last hour after hacking. My dog lightly growled when the staff returned to the room later. No lunging or biting. He was clearly scared of feeling threatened. I just don t think the vet has a good manner with clients and their pets. He may have a bias towards the breed of my dog, which is a terrier- retriever mix. Though I m glad to get meds and hope that actually cures the problem, I will never return to the clinic due to the way the vet made me feel during this stressful time. I m an experienced pet owner and did not feel any compassion, just judgment.

In my 30 yrs. of being a pet mom, I ve never experienced a vets refusal to provide care. My son s pup had been lethargic for a couple of days and not eating. We found this hospital online as the hr. was very late and it was the only facility open. Upon arrival his pup was examined @ a charge of $170. He was told that his pup had a life threatening condition of a uterus infection that would need to be treated immediately or we would loose her if her uterus ruptured. He was then told that the procedure would cost a mere $5,000 to move forward with treating her .really..who shows up to an emergency room in the midst of an emergency with $5k in hand. Of course he did not have that and was told that they would not be able to do anything without payment forcing my son to leave with his pup that they just diagnosed with a life threatening condition. So refusing to provide care, per Texas vet law, is against the law and an absolute disgrace. We will be moving forward with reporting this.

After reading other reviews I would recommend speaking with the vet before you agree to services and asking about your options. Remember, the cost of treatment isn t their fault.

My cat was having some breathing issues late Saturday night/Sunday morning so I took him to VCA because I was afraid the asthma that my regular vet was fairly certain he had (though not 100% sure due to the fact that every time I got him to the vet he was already breathing better) was getting out of hand. I was already distressed and worried about him to begin with, but after visiting this vet I was nauseated with anxiety. The actual veterinarian wasnt the problem which is why Im giving 2 stars instead of 1, because the actual veterinarian was kind and empathetic and calming, HOWEVER the vet tech was aggressive and pressuring me into spending an additional $2,000-$3,000 dollars (on top of the $1000 I was already spending) for more X-rays, more tests, and to leave my cat in their facility for the rest of the weekend. When I explained I did not have that much money and wanted to treat the asthma that the VCA vet was also relatively positive was causing the problem until I could get to my regular vet Monday morning, the vet tech continued to pressure me into spending the extra $2-3k and suggested that if I couldnt afford the additional tests and treatment, I should consider euthanasia which obviously terrified me, thinking that my pet was going to suffer and die if I didnt spend the extra thousands of dollars. I was crying at this point, feeling guilty for not having the money for the extra tests and extra x-rays, and finally the tech relented and sent the vet back in to talk to me. The vet was understanding of my financial situation and while she did maintain that her recommendation was to run the extra tests / extra x-rays, she accepted that I could not cover the cost of those services without question (and without trying to kill my pet) and prescribed some medicine/steroids to help with my cats breathing. After that, we went home. My cat was still breathing bad once we got home from VCA so of course I was still worried and terrified that he was going to die, but the following morning I took him to my regular vet as soon as they were open and they were much less worried about his symptoms. At my regular vet, my cat was treated, given medicine, and came back home to me that afternoon breathing normally and feeling better [for a fraction of what VCA charged*]. (*Trust me, I understand there is a difference between the ER and regular doctor as far as the cost/price of service - but its the difference in the way the issue was handled, how I was treated and how I was made to feel that is a problem). I wont say that VCA is a scam, but the manner in which the vet tech handled my situation with zero empathy and used fear and guilt as a tactic make the ER money... I just really feel like I was being manipulated and lied to about the severity of my pets condition in an attempt to profit off of my panic.

First off, always glad to find help. I visited on the 23rd and 24th for 2 different dogs. The first had to be euthanized for health reasons. The second was saved. I would have rated 5 stars had there been slight changes in delivery and execution. The first thing that really stands out from this place is Erica. I dont know what her role is exactly but she is on her game. She is sensitive to the people bringing their pets in. She is always staying busy but, never too busy to ask if someone needs something or provide an update on the status of your pet. She is awesome! Now the not so good. My dog Samnhad to be euthanized. I appreciated the honesty saying he was not going to make it. We euthanized him within minutes. My trip on the 24th required my dog get hospitalized. The doctors plan to treat was 32 hours of fluids and meds. I questioned why 32 hours and not 8 or 16? What was the significance of 32. The hospital requires you to pay the amount in full prior to any treatment or 90%. My issue with this is if paid for 32 hours and my dog doesnt make it, do I get a refund on any time that wasnt used? If my dog gets better after 16, can I recover the difference? I believe they should have blocks of time available and the customer can purchase additional time as needed. This type of block timing wasnt mentioned. Maybe its available and they didnt tell me. These times are really stressful the same doc that euthanized my dog Sam on the 23rd also treated my dog on the 24th. He didnt offer any type of condolences. I know he doesnt have to but, how does one build a relationship with a vet that is so distant? His dog IQ is really good but, his people skills seem to be lacking or at least on these 2 back to back days. Being sympathetic to animals and their owners isnt a requirement but, it really helps put the person paying the bill at ease knowing this doctor is friendly and will do their best. His treatment saved my dogs life and for that I am thankful. I doubt he would remember us if he seen us again or would bother ask how our dog is doing.

So Im updating my review that Id left around one year ago from today.. I originally felt the first experience I had w/my dog Pig in Oct 2021 was not the best one, seemed tough for many reasons. Tough on me that is. However , lastnight I had to bring Pig back in (my 18 yr old Pit Bull ) to be put down due to old age, seeing how her life was not the best for her anymore..Was the toughest thing Ive done i think ever in my life..The compassion I felt & saw in their eyes made me realize just how difficult their (the staff) job is.. Things I took for granite the first visit were just things that bothered me, not my dog.. I truly believe it takes a certain kind of person to be able to do what they do and keep a professional face & harness a compassionate attitude toward us- the humans.. On top of seeing these innocent animals coming in constantly all day & night in bad shape.. I really appreciate their help & Im sorry that my first review was made out of an uncomfortable mindset of my own... they helped my dog with love and care and that is what I should have made my first review based on.. I commend them all for being able to have the strength , patience & attitude to help us out with this difficulty, knowing their facing us at a vulnerable time in our lives. I thank you all for helping me get through this. Looking forward to picking up my girls ashes in a week... Thank You <3 -Sw.

I will say that the staff were friendly and courteous but on the flip side I thought the doctor veterinarians and such did their line of work based on their love for animals how you could let a dog whos cut his nose off leave without being treated based off the financial well-being of an individual is beyond me. I understand that procedures and places take money to operate but to hit somebody with a 1600 to open ended $2,200 possibility of a bill is beyond me and how you can let an animal leave here that is in pain or is disfigured leaves the question in my mind how do you sleep at night because I certainly could not if it was me and it seems like there are many reviews on here with warnings all I have to say is that if you dont have the $1,500 to spend because I know three people who recently brought their animal in here have all been charged the same it seems like theyre basic charge if you dont have it save yourself the $144 check out fee. Im not one to leave reviews but I couldnt help but to speak my mind because at the end of the day these pets are just as much family menberswho wouldnt be upset when finding out that you cant afford the care needed .

I took my cat to this location 7/4/22 after she had been limping for a few weeks and the pain seemed to be in her arm. $900 later, they show me an xray and say she has a small hairline fracture in her elbow and that she just needed a few weeks bedrest to heal. mind you shes 11 yrs old & 3 legged. in the appointment she shows me a blurry spot in her wrist but says not to be concerned i asked what it is & she said possibly arthritis since shes old. i was relieved she was going to be ok. i trusted them. she is bed ridden for 4 weeks before she begins declining. shes wetting herself, not eating, barley awake. her fur brother had also been going to the vet for a UTI so after i got his appointments done i took her in at Dickinson Animal Hospital on 8/13/22. Within 4 hours i was told that potential arthritis was actually aggressive bone cancer that had spread up her arm and in her elbow. she had 0 muscle in her arm. my only choice was to let her go and take her pain away. if i was ever told there was a possibility of cancer i would have immediately gotten a second opinion. i lost my cat to bone cancer 4 days before she turned 12. first xray was 7/4 the second and third were 8/13.

They allowed us to bring in our other dog and our kids so we could all say goodbye, and let us take the time we needed. I am so deeply grateful to them.

Our 11year old service dog was attacked Friday night/Saturday morning. We rushed him to the emergency vet hospital. Dr. Hauke and her staff did an amazing job with our baby. She did emergency surgery on our baby to save his life. His GUMS were detached from his mouth and he has 2 wounds on his snoot. He lost a lot of blood. Dr. Hauke and her team saved our baby. We cant thank yall enough.

Its been a few years but just now posting. Brought my dog in because I thought he broke his leg...he cried very loud and couldnt move it at all. We arrived and they said there was a small wait. Once we brought him to the door he had a seizure. Everyone jumped in and they rushed him back. We received plenty of updates as we waited. Turns out he had a stroke and lost function to his right leg. They told us to get an MRI to confirm and referred us. Honestly they turned a scary situation into a calm one. Clark is still with us 2 years later fully walking.

Have had to go twice in the past 3 or so months for two different animals. Theyve always been very nice and patient with questions, as well as kind to my animals. Yes, its expensive for an emergency, but thats what theyre there for. Itll run about $144(?) for the visit plus diagnostics. For non-surgery or overnight stay visits Ive paid in the ballpark of $800+. But its to be expected. Look into CareCredit, they accept it.

If possible, take to another location. Although the staff was courteous. The vet was awful! No bed side manners what s so ever. She was more more concerned about guilting me over the cost of care. The cost was outrageous for the surgery they wanted to do. Basically telling me my dog would die if I didn t have the surgery right away. Made me sign a paper basically stating I don t care for my animal. I desperately looked for another reasonable er vet. luckily I did. The other er pet hospital told me yes my dog needed surgery but not asap or would die. The other Er vet recommended another hospital and said they would do the surgery and for way way cheaper. I went to the other hospital right away the next morning. Was so happy to hear it was not a life or death situation. Yes she needed surgery but not as bad as this location made it out to be. VCA animal hospital in league city made me feel like a horrible pet parent for not having the surgery right away at this location. It just felt like they were interested in cost over care.

From getting our 126lb dog out of the car ( she could not walk) to the front desk personnel, and the vet herself, they treated our beloved Sadie as though she was their own. I cannot thank them enough for the love they showed our furbaby. It was not easy to say goodbye, but they made the transition as easy as possible. I will forever be grateful!

I admit I was concerned for a lot of reasons going to a new place. But my cat was sick and no one else was open. It took 4 hours. But given how many people were coming in and bringing pets in need, I guess that was to be expected. Finding and getting into the place was a pain due to construction, but that was by no means their fault. In the end they gave me my cat back with medications and hes now recovering. The staff were friendly and kind, both on the phone and in person. The Vet Techs were professional and considerate to me with my minor hearing issue and my fatigue. In the end, I admit the only things I could find fault for were beyond their control and were inconveniences at best. I do recommend this place to others in need of emergency care for their furry family members.

Don t ever take your pets here, they absolutely do not care about your pets and just want to take your money! My dog was throwing up blood and started convulsing. After waiting almost 2 hours just for them to take him back to get his vitals and waiting another 30-45 minutes to get put in a room, all they would do was treat him for dehydration and wanted to charge us $2000 to keep him overnight so he could have fluids or $900 to give him medicine and send us home. After I asked why they were just treating dehydration and not doing anything to see why he was throwing up blood the vets exact words to me were I don t know, it s just my job to keep him alive until he can see his regular vet . They wouldn t even to an X-ray to see if he had some kind of obstruction. Now we have to wait and hope he is ok through the night until his regular vet opens.

We had the misfortune of visiting the emergency hospital for our 5 year old dog who was chasing a squirrel in the back yard and was impaled by rebar. It was absolutely horrible to think of what was going to happen. We went in and our girl was quickly seen by the staff. We waited about 2 hours to get a status, which is what I ve experienced in a typical ER. While the cost was a bit difficult to swallow, every single member of their staff showed empathy and competence. Dr Hauke talked us through our options and when the procedure was completed the next morning, she called and gave a thorough update. Upon pickup, the tech was very helpful in explaining all of the post treatment care. We hope to never need their services again, but it was an absolute blessing for our dog to receive care from them.

Dr. Ashton Plummer saved my dogs life....I was an irresponsible pet owner and did not immediately give my dog heartworm prevention when I adopted her. I only gave her flea prevention.....Six months after adopting her, my dog showed sudden signs of short, faint breathes....A heartworm had died and was causing inflammation....Dr. Plummer immediately gave her a steroid which she also prescribed with an antibiotic....My dog is on a standard, continuous heartworm reatment plan which is what all dog owners should expect when their dog has been confirmed to have the heartworm protein in their blood.... As a dog owner, I messed up....Simple as that. Everyone working as part of the staff was still polite and supportive of my poor decision. This is an emergency clinic and the pricing is very fair considering...Ive experienced higher pricing for non-emergency care where I felt taken advantage of because we were already there and didnt want to take more time off from work. Dr. Plummer and the staff are a knowledgeable team... Classifying this clinic as the only option after hours is simply incomplete information to the public and unfair to your pets when considering their well being. My dog and my family are fortunate to have had access to the quality treatment she received from this veterinary clinic.....The objective was to save my dogs life.....This clinic did their part to keep us from having to pay them to euthanize her in order to end her suffering.

Do not come here if your pet is urgently needing care. My cat got into some fertilizer that leaked out of its bag and began to foam at his mouth and vomit. I called VCA asking what I should do and they said to bring him in. I did just that and when I arrived I was first told to call animal poison control which may be over $90 and allow them to speak to the vet. They took my cat to the back and 2 hours went by. By then, I concluded if something was urgently wrong with my pet, I would have been notified. I asked for him back as I had 3 other kittens at home who I wanted to make sure also didn t have symptoms. Luckily my cat is okay because had something been truly wrong, who knows what the outcome may have been. Save your pets and do not come here.

I have hesitated to write a review but the more I think about the more I think others need to be informed. Several weeks ago I took my cat in because of an eye problem. The place was very busy so I understand a longer wait time and triage, (her eye wasn t life threatening). However, the three hours I waited I wasn t once updated on her status. When I was finally sent an exam room I was told there had been a mix up and she was given a medication meant for another cat. The cats were the same color and their crates were in close proximity to each other. I can understand how this can happen, however my cat has a physical disability a person would have to be complacent to make that kind of error. I don t believe VCA was completely transparent and wonder if this isn t why I spent 3 plus hours waiting. Either A. There was more than just an error with a medication and she needed to be monitored because of the error or B. There was such a mix up that possibly my cat was sent home with someone else and had to be returned. When I was placed in an exam room I waited another 30 minutes. I was told we gave her an injectable antibiotic meant for another cat but they were going to give her that injection anyway. They removed the charge from the bill. This was rather confusing to me. The charge for that antibiotic was $100.00. I have multiple cats that have received that same antibiotic multiple times and have never received a bill for over $40. I can understand this is an ER but the charge should be reflected in the office visit not overinflated prices on medications. And if they made this type of error there should have been a reduction in the price of the visit itself especially if they meant to give her the medication any way. When I left the exam room their was only me couple left. Everyone that had arrived after me had their pet returned and left the building but one couple. Why did I wait so long? So I think transparency is an issue. I think that their model and how they bring their patients back needs to be addressed maybe they should bring the owners and animals back to an exam room together and not placedout of site in a back room. I questioned what they did to my cat. When I arrived home, all of my cats sniffed the crate and I realized more than likely another cat had been placed in my carrier at some point. And more than likely I am going to get the typical canned response everyone else gets after giving them a bad review. I have had multiple visits in the past several years to this facility with my personal cats and rescues. I am hoping someone sees this review and actually listens and tries to make a change on how this place operates for the safety of the animals and humans they serve.

It s been about a month since we had to take our sweet kitten Ellie here. I still have mixed feelings. We had a terrible experience at the vet that left our kitten chewing her tail the point it was necrotic. The vets basically didn t notice and said we were fine to wait to take her in. We knew something was seriously wrong so we brought her here. On the one hand, I m beyond grateful that they were able to take her in, see that her tail was in terrible shape, and perform surgery THAT night. My cats are my babies so the fact that she was taken care of, and that today her tail has healed so nicely is just beyond amazing. Now for the glaring negatives; I want to preface this by saying I completely understand that this job must be incredibly stressful. These vets must go through so much every day, and I get that over time you become desensitized to what goes on here 24/7. That being said, there is absolutely ZERO sympathy/empathy going on here. It very much felt like a business transaction. The vet told us POINT BLANK- if you re strapped for cash I m not doing the surgery after we just simply expressed our feelings to each other about the bill. Of course we were going to pay. I would pay anything for my baby. Her choice of words especially was just completely unprofessional. She just kept harping on the money, saying that even after the surgery that there would be after care, and that she didn t want us to think it was over. It felt extremely patronizing (of course there would be after care and other things to do for her), and again, just seemed like she couldn t care less about our kitten who was in pain. The whole experience was so either put out or get out. The exact opposite of what anyone would like to experience at an emergency clinic. Overall, while I am happy with the service, do not come here expecting for anyone to care. They treat caring for animals as simply a way to make money.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! Its taken me a couple months to finally write a review due to grieving over the loss of my fur baby but I wish I could leave 0 stars. VCA mixed up my dogs ashes with someone elses cats ashes named Queso. I returned home from picking up my dogs ashes and opened the box only to see that it was someone elses pet with a toe tag listing the owner as Bryan L***** for a feline named Queso. I immediately called VCA and spoke with the manager and it appeared that it was just a simple box mix up.. NO, THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. Long story short a woman named Robin Beasley, person who does the cremation, mixed up the animals during cremation and has absolutely no idea where my dog is or what happened. I specifically selected for an individual cremation and even ask for reassurance that ld be getting MY DOG back. After spending $4,600 to try to save my dogs life and was ensured that ld be coming home with my fur babys ashes.. Im left with nothing and just refund for the cremation. No amount of money will ever make up for what theyve done. When I went back up there I was presented with new ashes so I asked if they were 100% sure that these were my dogs ashes this time and she said no.. just to take whichever ashes I feel more comfortable taking. Words cannot explain the emotional distress Ive been through by dealing with this. This place only cares about taking your money. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!! I have provided pictures. My fur baby s name was Sebastian and his name was on the bottom of the box but the card with the ashes clearly say another pet. Bottom line, I ve lost all trust in this vet and I ll never know where Sebastian really is.

This business was professional, knowledgeable, and curious. When our dog suddenly couldnt walk on his leg and was crying in pain we had no idea where to go. With so many other vets closing early, we found this location online. Our dog was attended to as soon as we arrived and we were in and out in about an hour and a half. Im sure the day and the time that you arrive also determines your length of stay, but we were very pleased with the amount of time it took for our dog to get treated. We also had arrived as soon as they opened so Im sure that also determined how quickly he was taken care of but nonetheless we were still very pleased. We also appreciate the doctor for explaining to us how they tried other solutions first before wanting to do an x-ray. Since in our case, we learned our dog just needed his elbow popped back into socket. The doctor taking his time to figure out what was wrong with our dog instead of just rushing to get an x-ray definitely saved us time and money. Were not sure the title of the staff members but we also appreciated how someone had came out and explained everything that was going on throughout the time of our visit. We will definitely recommend this place and now know where to go to for any emergency.

I am grateful that we were able to get our dog seen when our vet was closed the day after thanksgiving. We waited for over 4 hours, which we wouldn t have minded (it s an ER, kind of expected it) except that when the doctor finally came in he asked what happened which I reiterated again. Then when I mentioned her wound spreading up her leg closer to the groin he said Oh really? I didn t know it spread that high up but I didn t really take a good look at it. Why did I pay $125 for him to examine my dog s leg when he didn t really take a good look at it. No labs done. Another couple hundred for antibiotic and steroid. What did they do for 4+ hours? Just leave her in a kennel? When we got put in a room we heard him say through the door to get her down. That was 3.5 hours in. A little disappointed we spent that much, our dog was put through that much with her anxiety, and then hearing from the doctor himself that he didn t really look at her. The following morning she developed a bad cough which our normal vet said could either be kennel cough or from her being mishandled at the ER. We are hoping it s a cough, but we will see once she finishes her antibiotic treatment.

One of the absolute worst experiences you could ask for as a devastated pet owner. After our dog passed at home she was brought to vca for cremation services. We paid the additional fee for her paw print as that is something we desperately wanted to have of hers to remember her by. We picked up the box tonight to only find her ashes and no paw print. We called VCA and they misplaced her paw print. Absolutely nothing that can be done but just refund the money for the paw print. Nothing else was offered to make up for this huge mistake. This is not the first poor experience we have had here but convenience to our home brought us back. We will never use vca again and I strongly encourage anyone who cares about their fur baby to go elsewhere. They do not care here about their patients nor the owners. Were so grateful for Dr. Plummer and staff! They were quick to care for our sweet girl after she was attacked by another dog. She had to stay the night and that left us worried. The staff went out of their way and called us during her stay to give us updates. I called multiple times after she was discharged with questions and concerns. They were so kind and took the time to answer them all. We had the best experience after rushing in there in a panic!

Unfortunately, we had to take our sweet girl to the clinic where she had a bad infection. Front desk was extremely inpatient and really rushed us when we were already emotional. Didn t really have any patience or compassion. They were more concerned with pushing paperwork on us and getting us out. We made the painful decision to put her down after being pushed and pushed on making a decision. Then we had to wait 30 mins for them to bring her out to us after giving us a lecture on making decisions. We were saying our goodbyes and once again we re rushed to finish up. Once she had passed we needed a moment to process. They came and just took her and just gave us a look as if to say you can leave now. There was only ONE vet tech who was sweet to us. The one who ended up taking her back after the process and was very gentle. I get this is an emergency clinic, but you need compassion even if it the night shift.

Dr. Samantha Hauke and the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing!! We were dog sitting my parents Boston Terrier, Henry, when we noticed that he had a laceration close to the ear. We were given two treatment options, one was surgery putting Henry under and this would make it more cosmetically pleasing, or give Henry a local and staple the wound. We chose to have Henrys laceration stapled. Henry was so good that it allowed the ear to relax and Dr. Hauke was basically able to perform the surgery without Henry having to be put under. She sutured the laceration and added the staples. When his wound heals, you will never be able to tell anything had ever happened. I hope you never have to bring your pups to VCA Animal Emergency Hospital, but if you do, KNOW that with Dr. Hauke and her team, your fur babies are in excellent hands!!! Thank you all so much for your help with Henry!

Took my baby there yesterday after his injury got worse and his regular vet didnt have an appointment until the 9th. They took great care of my baby and even said they advised against x-rays since it would add costs to me and not effect my babies treatment plan. They had a muzzle for my baby because mine was left elsewhere and the staff was amazing. Thank you for taking such great care of my baby. He is doing much better today.

Over priced. Does not care about the animals and only in it for the money. Vultures. They know you care about your animals and youre in an emergency so they Jack up their prices because they know you have no other options. They dont care about the animals or owners. Only what they can get out of you financially. Their prices are almost triple that of a regular vet.

Our puppy was hit by a car and we spent over $2000 at this hospital. When we brought Millie back to get her catheter out the tech was so rude! We ask how she was doing and her response I am not a doctor. The vet from the night before had no bedside manners. One of the vets did give me some relief, but I do not recommend this facility and will not use them again. Even a customer walked out because they were not pleased with their professionalism. So go somewhere else. I would do whatever to save my puppy life. At least they could treat me with respect and act like they love what they are doing and that is saving lives.

Arrived there and they took my cat back and then asked me to go to one of the exam rooms. Paige (surprised she is even a vet) came in the room and said with the symptoms that I described, that she would need to do blood work, xrays, etc. etc. that she will not look at my cat unless I agreed to pay the 700.00 bill upfront. I asked her, have you even looked at her or taken her out of her carrier? And she said ,no, her policy before she will even looks at my cat was for me to agree to pay the bill up front! Really? Very BAD bedside manner and acted heartless about my cats situation. WIL NEVER be back or recommend! I was very willing to pay that for my baby girl...but just the terrible bedside manner and could care less about you animal attitude...I did not want that woman touching my cat!

If I could leave 0 stars I would! Extremely unhappy with vca clinics, and I will never trust them with caring for another animal again. First off dont go to any vca if youll need assistance with payment!! Even in am emergency situation I wasnt even offered an alternative vet clinic to do surgery to save my dogs life. They only care about money and not the life of your pet. And I was told by the doctor that if we couldnt afford the 6,000 for an EMERGENCY SURGERY then we shouldnt have pets. I believe more animals leave this clinic in boxes then they do in the living arms of their owners.please stay far away from this place in any type of emergency situation!

We woke up Sunday morning and our dog was pale white and barely conscious. We scooped her up, got in the car, then called ahead and told them what happened as we raced over. When we got there a tech was at the door and took her back right away to be assessed. We were seen by Dr. Page shortly after that. She was great at explaining what was going on, what all her abnormal labs meant, and the treatment plan for our dog. Kirby had to spend the night there. We called several times for updates and all the staff we talked to were very friendly and happy to let us know what was going on!

Our sweet Skye had a freak accident at about 5:30am on Saturday June 5, 2021. We called in a panic mode since she was bleeding profusely from her muzzle and around her eye. So, this was a definite emergency. The office was easy to find and they were amazingly responsive, both on the phone and when we arrived. The Techs had my husband take her back immediately since she was bleeding and he was holding her. She was given an immediate injection to sedate her and slow the bleeding. Dr. Head came in and explained what was happening so far and the plan of treatment. Dr. Mead continued to keep us informed of every procedure and how long he expected it to take. He also explained what the charges would be and what medication she would go home with. Our baby ended up with sutures in 2 different places on her face and staples to close the main damage on her muzzle. Everyone was very compassionate and helpful. We both highly recommend this clinic when an emergency situation arises for your babies. Hopefully, we wont need this service again anytime soon, but if we do, I will definitely come here.

In this business now... have been for more than two hours. More than an hour in the main waiting room, then called back to the exam room. Here now for about an hour and no one has come in, no one has taken the initiative to offer an explanation for the delay. Took our pet when we entered and havent seen him since. If you come here you should bring a meal and a pillow. A simple, courtesy we apologize but heres whats taking so long. Or dont put us in a tiny exam room when you dont plan to come in. Will post again if we ever actually get some service. So, raised from one to two stars. I would rate the doctor a 5 - he was friendly and straight forward, no high pressure to use the service at the higher priced emergency center when we could wait and see our regular vet. Still so disappointed with the lack of communication as well as the prices - no reason to charge so much for simple tests or shots. Cant imagine they cost this facility more than any other vet facility. Way over priced! I would only go here if there are not other options for your pet.

I cannot thank Dr. Hauke and the rest of the staff at VCA for saving my Great Dane (Cassius) life! I brought him in with Bloat, which is a terrible and extremely life threatening problem in certain breeds. I just knew we were going to have to put him down even though he is only 17 months old. I was a total wreck. They preformed emergency Gastropexy and Splenectomy surgery, and did everything in thier power to help him pull through. You could tell how much the staff cared as it took a toll on them as well. Even though the diagnosis was grim 5days ago, he is once again a happy healthy dog! I can t even express how much I would not recommend this place unless it s a true emergency . The prices are insanely high and there are no alternatives accept for care credit .They made me feel like it was a drive through from start to finish and all they were concerned about was money . It makes it incredibly difficult when it s a life or death situation . They did save my dog but it was thousands of dollars with no updates while she was in their care ( I had to call to check in ) and no post op instructions . I understand they are busy but for that much money it is unacceptable . Also I feel awful for the front desk area they look incredibly over worked and stressed. Avoid this place and go to your primary vet if you can at all costs .

EXCELLENT AND THOROUGH CARE!!! I ve had to bring several of my pets here, and my most recent visits were some of the most costly, as emergency care usually is. They were extremely short staffed and the wait was obviously longer than normal due to that. However, the extra stress they were facing did nothing to diminish the quality of care and for that I am eternally grateful! The staff was very caring and friendly, but Dr. Kenneth Head in particular was nothing short of extraordinary. He knew I had been in earlier in the week and had also seen our usual vet, and my cat was sicker than ever with no answers in sight. Although they were swamped, he took the time to help me analyze the possibilities and find the most cost effective way to get some tests done and questions answered until we could see the vet again. Low and behold, his instincts were spot on and the treatment he prescribed actually cured her completely! Within 24 hours she had shown a huge improvement and was back to normal after about a week. He had been very apologetic about my wait, and as I went to check out at 11pm, I discovered he was actually scheduled to leave at 6. He had stayed an additional five hours to make sure our animals were ok and none of the owners had to wait longer than we had to. I will recommend him and the rest of the staff to anyone I know. Thanks again and keep up the great work!

We had to take our 11 year old lab/border collie mix in this morning because she had seizures all day and night even though she was on meds to control them. The staff was extremely kind, professional and understanding. They started an IV to stop the seizures and gave her sedatives to calm her but she was already gone mentally before we arrived. She couldn t focus and didn t recognize us. Dr. Head was amazing. He guided us through the options for our Bella which unfortunately weren t many since her blood work showed no issues from the neck down and with her age she wasn t going to improve. He confirmed what we already knew. It s never easy making the gut wrenching decision to let go of a beloved fur baby, but when and if you face that hard decision this clinic made the transition as easy as they could. I was able to love on her and let her know she wasn t alone. It was peaceful for her. We were offered her ashes and her paw print as a keepsake. You would expect a price tag that broke the bank for all of this but the charges were less than a regular vet visit. I highly recommend this clinic if you ever need after hours urgent or emergency care for your fur baby.

We came in for an emergency and it was a very expensive, and uninformative visit. My pup was lethargic, and almost unresponsive to anything. We rushed there and checked in, only to end up waiting a total of 5+ hours, and spending $380 to get no answers. ZERO! The vet had no idea what was going on and gave no suggestions except for a $250 test that turned up no clues. I asked my schnauzer fb page, while I waited, and within minutes they all said hypoglycemia... They were right!! The vet was nice and Morgan was very compassionate but I was not impressed with much else. It was a very simple and quick test. The wait was ridiculous, as it only took 20 min for the test and some of the front desk ladies have bad customer service. I hate that they are the only er option in the area.

He has an open wound that was visible to the air when released. I was so upset and displeased with my service there. They made very sure I signed a promissory note for non payment though before leaving. Our boy Toby (cat) was seen at VCA for a urinary blockage and the experience was mostly positive. The staff are very friendly and patient, and they are more than happy to provide updates as needed on hospitalized pets. The communication was primarily with vet technicians as it is harder to speak to a vet directly, but if you request it they will have the vet call you. I felt confident that our boy was given round the clock care to ensure his condition was improving. However, the wait was longer than we had hoped for this life threatening kind of emergency, but it was New Years Day and the only animal hospital open on a holiday. Still, for a critical emergency as a urinary blockage is for a male cat, being seen sooner would have made it a five star experience.

Also had surgery to get a blockage out of his intestine. At the end of this it cost me around $8,000. Last night my 7lb miniature schnauzer had her puppys, which one had gotten stuck inside also was deseased and caused for a cesarean (C-Section) and some IV fluids over night. And they charged me $3,000 to $4,000. Dont make much sense to me, but at the end of the day they saved my wifes best friend. If you can avoid taking you loving pets here please do so. The wait was a bit long but expected as this is an emergency room and it was Sunday. Two staples, x-rays, and some meds later it cost me less than taking my other cat to a certain vet by Krogers on 96. The front office staff were great, the vet techs were sweet and loved my brat cat, and the Vet was great. They didnt try to pressure me into doing anything, the quote was accurate, and the Vet was honest with us about what she felt like she couldnt do and didnt need to do. Over all we were happy! Just remember its an ER, they are more expensive for humans too. Totally worth knowing my cat was going to be okay and get him bandaged up.
