Dead smack on the border, this citys aorta is culture. The spectrum of humanity in all its good and bad can be found here like an unchecked demigods iteration of Neapolitan ice cream. All are represented here. With that said, it is with no disrespect that I say, Hokkaido is the flag ship for eastern delicacy that we have and mind you this is not an easy decision. So lets break it down. They offer your usuals like lo mein, sushi, ramen and fried sea denizens. Let me tell you what you want to order. Go for the Japanese Pizza, the skewered meat, little mermaid and her friends mingling with veggies in a light savory sauce clay pot steam bath (there are only two options with different faces, you cant go wrong). Wash it down with hot sake, Kirin and then respect your sweet buds with their mochi (Japanese ice cream) and do three flavors. I did strawberry, green tea, and mango. Pop music plays on the speakers. Limited seating . Limited hours. No adventure is without uncertainty. Go.

This is only my experience. Me and my husband went for Mother s Day. The food was salty. The presentation was okay but I feel like the vegetables or the sides was from can. Overall a nice place, the atmosphere was nice and the food was good. I had the ramen and octopus nigiri. The ramen was alright, the broth was really good and flavorful, the meats were okay. Overall it was not bad. The nigiri was amazing some of the best I have ever had. Im glad it came last in my meal so I could have that lasting flavor. Bird wise you have the usual parking lot birds, great-tailed grackles and house sparrows with the occasional turkey vulture fly over. Parking: Theres not a lot of parking space its a small plaza but there were enough when I was there.

Very nice renovations. We arrived at 11. It was my birthday. We ordered at about 11:10, our drinks came around 11:30. No food until past noon. We had agedashi tofu, and vegetable tempura. Both were very good. There was one other table there when we ordered. I asked for the chicken broccoli. The server, who I believe is also one of the owners, asked me if I wanted the lunch version or regular, I got the lunch version. I was given teriyaki chicken. This is all ONE HOUR after we ordered. I brought it to the counter and asked to look at the menu, and I asked if the broccoli chicken recipe, pointing to it on the menu, has changed. And they said no, no problem. Waited another 15 minutes and they brought a large teriyaki chicken. After this we just paid the check and left. The woman who took the order, and who is one of the owners is just very rude, and a horrible server. She is mean and gives off very bad energy.. I stopped going for a while because once I asked if they could put tofu in the vegetable yakisoba, and I would pay more, and she said no and walked away. She obviously hates being a server, and is probably mean to the servers because they are always hiring and I have never seen the same server in there twice. I really do like the food, the renovation is nice, but she ruins the experience. I will not be going back.

After reading the reviews I was expecting a way better experience I just think that $50 for 2 people eating noodles is a bit much especially since it wasnt that good. Also the prices on there menu online is 3 to 4 dollars different then the menu in house. But I will give them that the service was excellent.

I love coming to Hokkaido! I always have such a great experience. I have been coming to Hokkaido for a few years now and I love that their food is always consistently good. They offer a variety of dishes and the service is always quick. I can tell the owners take so much pride in what they do and I am so happy we have an authentic japanese restaurant in Laredo. This is one of the restaurants I always recommend to my friends and clients. You d probably like this if you ve lived in south Texas your whole life and have never had actual good fresh food. I ordered Sashimi, big mistake. The knife cuts looked like a five year old did it with a butter knife. Ordered the cucumber salad and it was literally a cucumber, that wasn t peeled (I even got the end piece with the stem!) and it was cut into random quarters, in a bowl for 8$. The waitress didn t know what any of the menu items were when I ordered, so I had to point. Service was slow cuz they were busy with online orders. The fish tasted and smelled fishy and that s the worst thing when it comes to sushi. Not good at all, won t be back. If you want water, they charge you and give it to you in plastic bottles. The cutlery was plastic wrapped, plastic forks and spoons. We payed 90$ for literally NOTHING.

Food was extremely delicious. We enjoyed the beef and noodles with peanut sauce, spicy beef ramen, gyosas and house fried rice. The house fried rice was a mound of rice with beef, chicken and shrimp, the latter being the best part of the rice with delicious fried egg pieces mixed in. The peanut sauce noodles were delicious and had much flavor and the presentation was beautiful. The spicy beef ramen was true to its name, so much flavor and taste, the beef and egg adding so much savory flavor to the noodles. The staff were friendly and attentive and hard at work in establishing their guests comfort. Will return regularly and continue to try everything on the menu. Highly recommend for fans of delicious food in large helpings, you wont leave here hungry after enjoying their delicious noodles and rice.

My family had the Miso Beef Ramen, Beef Yoki sobe noodles, and Tuna Avocado sushi roll. The food was good. Deducted one star because they dont have fountain drinks so expect to get bottled water and canned sodas for a fee. Lunch specials are only good Monday thru Friday and weekends everything is regular price.

This place is good, but I wont be back. The lady working there was not wearing a mask while serving us and who knows if the chef was wearing a mask while cooking (because they popped out and were not wearing masks either). The place is extremely small which makes it literally impossible for any social distancing within tables. Its a shame that they dont follow covid restaurant guidelines because the gyozas are to die for!

A Laredo phenomenon and sensation. The Gods have answered our prayers and delivered a robust and delectable sushi restaurant that has a flash of other savory Asian cuisines. The cooking style is uniquely fantastic fare. The rolls, salads and appetizers are all good, some are better. Ive explored the menu from one side to the other and it is all made to order, mouth watering good. Do yourself a favor and order up some Hokkaido!

If youre looking for authentic Japanese food, Hokkaido sushi is THE place to go!! Their ramen broth is intense and delicious! Their sushi is fresh and out of this world - I honestly cannot believe a small town like Laredo has this high caliber chef! It is beyond me how they serve such amazing sushi at such reasonable price - Mind blowing!+ Plus the chef and his wife are amazing and nice people! Very friendly and attentive!

Our new favorite restaurant with authentic Japanese sashimi and traditional dishes. This place doesnt disappoint the most discerning pallet. Freshness like none other especially in this border town where sushi is Mexicanized (cooked and fried). Chefs choice of sashimi was excellent and provided us with a great selection. Definitely will be coming back soon.

The place has a mix of Japanese and Chinese food. I have to admit so fast the Chinese food is the favorite. My wife and I shared a General Tsos chicken which was very crispy and the sauce very flavorful. Definitely going to have a craving for that again. Also had the chicken lo mein which was pretty good. I got the chicken miso ramen which was ok as it seemed to be lacking something. Next time might try another Japanese item or ask the staff what they recommend. I will say we will be going again as the service was great as well.

To say it s the best sushi in town wouldn t be saying much. It s some of the best sushi I ve had anywhere. Qiu is great at his craft. Laredo needed this.
