So I was on the Katy side of town earlier today, I was hungry so I stopped by this place for lunch like around passing 12. It was empty with just like 7 customers plus me and my niece, it was like uh oh what s going on, it s lunch time and it s empty but still I decided to stayed and dine in. Our server was something else, I placed my order with him while told him that my niece was still deciding, he took my menu away but my niece still has hers. 10 minutes later, he came back to our table with 2 orders and I told him my niece hasn t placed her order yet, he says that she told him she wants the same thing as me which I told him she never says that. After I said that he was just standing there and I told him you know what it s fine so that we could just be done with it, I wasn t in the mood nor have the time to go back and forth with it, but he was just serving our table yet couldn t get it right neither. He did apologize after he walked off but still that wasn t what my niece wanted to eat. Anyways, the tacos weren t even that good or anything special than those tacos that I got from the food truck on Westheimer and safe to say I won t be back ever.

I went to eat on Friday afternoon 09/27 and by Sunday morning I was doubled over in severe pain. I got the OG burger medium well. There was nothing wrong with the taste of the burger but it was either the burger or fries that made me sick. The fries were not the best, they didn t taste fresh. It also could ve been the fry sauce or the dips that came with the Nachos in any event it was something there. This is the first time I ve eaten out in months so it was pretty easy to pinpoint the origin of my illness, which according to the RN I saw it was acute gastroenteritis. Totally regretting that decision. #IYKYK. I guess that s the risk you take when you go to a place where other people prepare your food. No shade to the new location but I never had that issue when they were at the old location on Kingsland and I also remember the food tasted better back then too. Now to the atmosphere, I actually like the new setup but down side was the open area being only separated by what looks like a garage door which was fully open so the cigarette smoke made it inside to my table. I m not a cigarette smoker myself and don t like the smell so this definitely diminished my eating experience. Thank goodness I didn t have small children with me b/c I would ve left just based on that alone. The server was super nice and attentive so no Qualms there. So I wouldn t necessarily say not to eat there. To each their own. But me, it only takes me 1 time to get sick at a place and I never go back. Got sick from Jason s Deli on the east coast almost 10 years ago and never went back. I would recommend asking them to hold the bacteria and insist on having fresh food that is prepared by clean hands and that has not been introduced to cross-contamination and I m sure you ll be fine!

So scholars and scoundrels, we are local to Katy and tried to like this place. Tried it for a second time. Didn t walk away this time but waited over 15 mins for any acknowledgment. Most employees will make eye contact with you then walk away. Ignored several times for seating. Food takes way too long. Very slow. Have heard it was super bad but didn t think it was think going to be this bad. Regret going back to this place. Wasted my lunch hour like others say.

B/24/22 - lunch time. INCREDIBLE service from KENZIE. Great food recs. LOVED the Piggie Smalls giant sliders. Fries were perfection. Mac & cheese delicious and full of creamy flavor. Great beer pairing. Really chill and have great enough memories that I finally posted a review 2+ years later after finding a receipt. Cool indoor vibes. Parking: Busy parking lot at lunch, but easily found.

Perfect place for families and also perfect for a guys or girls night out. Theres a bar for drinks and sports/entertainment but is also very family friendly. They have an amazing menu and a staff to match. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

Thursday night, I had an absolutely delicious steak. It had been smoked all day. The sides were awesome. And by the way, you know you have a damn good steak when there is no need to put anything in it. I always have great service from Alicia, Sophie, Monica, Jessica, Sarah and the rest of the gang! Got the BLT and it was not as I expected. To much bread, battered deep fried Bacon, to the point you could not even taste the bacon. The fried green beans were amazing though! It was early in the day so was quiet. The server was very attentive and mad sure he got everything right which he did I just ordered the wrong thing! Bill for 2 ni drinks was $48. My sandwich was $14 so not worth it! Son got some chicken sandwich with an egg he said it is was OK. Nothing against the restaurant will be back but not for a BLT!

It s way way way way to loud in here. Arrived on a Thursday about 4:45. Was surprised by the steak night service. The food was great and such a good deal.. however within the hour and a half my party was there it got ridiculously loud. ( we opted to leave without ordering more drinks) it got to the point we could barely hear each other at the table!!! Figure out a way to correct this, please. I called in yesterday to make a reservation for 15 for this weeks steak night, hoping it was a fluke, but the person on the phone could barely hear me and I could only hear all the noise in the background of the call. I decided on a different restaurant. I ll try again, but only during slow daytime hours. Diners be aware. Either bring ear muffs or a loud horn maybe both :/

Food and beer was good. I had the blue cheese burger with fries. We also had the wings. The food was hot and the patty was seasoned well. Our server was attentive and personable. This location wasn t flashy but we needed to do reconnaissance for our fantasy draft and they do have a private room in the back for any parties, meetings or in this case, draft party.

Server was unfortunately incompetent. Never put in wing orders for the adults, waited for kids meals to be cooked for some asinine reason before putting in adult orders then specials ran out. Wasted 1.5 hrs of our lives. Elyson location isnt any better. Will avoid all locations.

Well, where do i start, first time for me in this place. Went because they had an special 4$ ribeye stake, only 100 stakes, first come first served, for the 4th of July. They were not prepared for the amount of customers showing up early. They brought the side orders first and incomplete (after an hour), then the drinks. Then some of the side orders, still missing some (9 people). Finally 30 more minutes, 2 of the stakes (out of 6 ordered), then my salad. 3 more stakes...and no knives. Asked for the knives, manager got 3 sets of plastic silverware, ( have you tried a cutting a stake with a plastic knive?), not fun. Where i was sitting i had a clear view of the kitchen and the delivery window, I could see it was total chaos. At this point still missing 1 stake...finally came out with the last side order, cold smash potatoes, almost 2 hours. At the end, left more money in tips than the actual bill because i felt bad for the waitres, you could see her face in frustration. In all honesty, food was not bad. I dont think on coming back even with the promotional stakes, (well maybe i will). Hope they learned and improve. Its a nice place.

We took the boys to an attraction in the area, and chose this place to eat at afterwards. Never eaten here or heard of it. The Scoundrel Fires for the appetizer were delicious. Forgot to get a picture :-(. My wife got some kind of chicken tacos that she said were delicious. The rest of us got 1 of their burgers with fries. The burgers were good, I personally think they are lacking seasoning in the meat and was a little over cooked for my preference. Overall it was all good. We would definitely stop back by if we were in the area.

I know this place is going to be great. Ive yet to try their first location, which Ive heard is super good! I know this location is still ironing out the details, but Im still going to review my personal experience. White cheese nachos appetizer: cheese wasnt hot or warm. The chips were delicious but nothing but broken pieces. The green salsa was not spicy, but it was flavorful. My husbands tacos tasted good. However, they need to fill those tacos more than just a spoonful and stop doubling up warmed up, straight out of the plastic tortilla bag. Who does that?!! I repeat, the corn tortillas came straight out of the plastic store bag. That was terrible. I ordered my steak medium, and my steak came out rare & chewy, which was gross when it stretched, and I couldnt chew it. I spit it out twice (into napkins) & boxed it up to take home to my dog. The garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. The crack macoroni is boring. Absolutely NOTHING crack about it. Kraft macaroni out of a box, in my opinion. As for service, Carlos did his absolute best and went above and beyond. The tacos came out first and were cold, eaten, and gone before my meal came out. I did not appreciate that. No tea, soda was flat and straight out a 2 lt. bottle. My husband ordered a drink from the bar (I forgot), but it was DAMN GOOD! The place is nice. Major potential with a bar. Theres also a bar outside with a sitting area. Nice chill area. Great for a group of friends. Fun music of all genres and not too loud. I feel everything was overpriced, but only because of the quality of the meal we received. It just didnt sit well with me.

Overall everything was great at their new location in Katy Mills area. The food and service were beyond exceptional. I will definitely be back to experience more of the food and atmosphere. The only thing to work on here is to get the flies out of the dining area as they were all over the place.

This review is for the new location. Pictures are attached. Bear in mind, they may still be ironing out the details operationally. The owner was running a good show at the old location, and I m confident that will ultimately be the case here. The food was ok - nothing spectacular today. My date s chicken was a bit dry, and my burger sliders were average. They bring out a special ketchup with the fries, but if preferred, one may ask for regular ketchup, as well. The server s cadence was off. We were being asked if we wanted a takeout container well before we were finished with our food. Additionally, the check was brought out way too early - making it appear as if they assumed we didn t want dessert. It took them a while to even pick up and process the card once it was on the table. In short, some of the waitstaff need to be trained on cadence and monitoring tables without being intrusive. The environment can get very loud very quickly. It was decently loud when we went, and the restaurant was only at half capacity. I can only imagine what will happen if there is ever live music. The building design and materials contributes to this effect (look at the ceiling if you re ever there). The outside bar looks like a good spot to relax when the weather is fair. It is very easy to go between the indoor dining area and the outside bar.

I want to preface this review and say we were there the first day they were opened I believe. With that being said it was pretty good. It was very hot inside and it was a humid day. The crawfish was on point! They were fully prepared for the bar service. The bathrooms had not been fully cleaned after construction bc there was construction dust everywhere. I liked the idea of the bathroom sink but in reality I think this is going to be a complaint. The faucets need to be closer to the sink or they need to be higher. I hit my hands on back part on sink while washing them and if I was someone w some big diamond on hand and it hit the concrete of the sink I d be mad. Just a suggest. Alice was great trying to make sure our needs were met to the best of her ability. Will definitely be back but going to give them a bit to get settled in and kinks worked out. Parking: Lots of parking in shopping center all around Kid-friendliness: It s kid friendly but there aren t games or anything to keep them busy so take something for them to do. Wheelchair accessibility: There are tables that would accommodate wheelchairs.

We were looking for a good burger spot and this veteran owned restaurant showed up in our Yelp! results, so we took a chance on it one Sunday afternoon. Let me start with the fact that they have a Vouchers for Vets & 1st Responders program where patrons can Pay It Forward towards the meal of a veteran who eats at the restaurant. Ive never seen that before and it is truly amazing! I am an Army combat veteran who appreciates this! We happened to get to the restaurant at the end of DJ BRUNCH (11am-3pm) and it caught us off guard, because we didnt see it on Yelp!. No offense, but the seemingly conservative crowd, the DJ, and the rap music didnt seem to go together and, admittedly, it made me very, very anxious. It was loud and not at all what I expected. The DJ wrapped up her set soon after we sat down, which was a huge relief. On to the food! The menu was pretty entertaining, with comically named dishes, like the TUPORK SHAKUR TACOS. We ordered some Chips and Green Chile Queso as a starter, which came out with two metal platters like youd see at a Renaissance fair. The homemade tortilla chips were pretty good, but unfortunately, the queso hardened within a few minutes of being on the table, so we were only able to enjoy a little bit of it, before the food came. For our entrees, I ordered a cheeseburger with tater tots and my girlfriend got one with sweet potato fries. The presentation was great! I mean, the bun with the name branded on it was cool. When we asked that our burgers be well done, we could here the lady at teh counter tell the cook, I hate to do this to you, but...! My burger was burned and dry, so it was not very enjoyable. I ALWAYS get my meat well done and this is the first restaurant to EVER burn my food like this. My tots were overcooked and hard. My girlfriends burger was dry, but her sweet potato fries were OK. Maybe well try this place for other menu items. Maybe not. We enjoy restaurants that dont mind that we enjoy our meat thoroughly cooked, not burned! HOOAH!!!

Went here for lunch, driven by here before and decided to give it a go. I give it 4 of 5 stars for food knowing that I accepted that it would be bar food and not typical restaurant. I always have a great time. Ive been for crawfish night and.. they could be better. Lacking flavor and overcooked. I went for a Wednesday Singo night, and it was a blast! Definitely make sure to tip your servers good as youre occupying their tables for over an hour playing the game. They work hard and you can tell. The fried pickles, green beans are good. The beef fajita on the kitchen sink nachos is low quality so dont expect much. The macaroni n cheese, burgers, sliders, wings, and wraps are all delicious. When I come here I know to expect bar type quality food nothing fine dining. Still a fun spot to hang out.

Poor service is a rare thing at Scholars & Scoundrels, at least in our experience; we ate at the new Elyson location on Friday night with good service. But today... We ordered burgers & nachos --- no alcoholic drinks. Once we got our food (which was delicious!), our two servers never checked on us. Both the bartender & the energetic host, Reese, apparently noticed that wed been abandoned; they each checked on us. When my husband needed a refill of his water, he started looking for our server. Reese saw him & got the refill immediately, apologizing for the poor service. We waited a bit after finishing our meal, but no check. My husband stood to see where our servers were - couldnt find them. Once again, Reese to the rescue; she asked if we needed our check & brought it quickly. She apologized again about the service. We told her that SHE provided the service that S&S customers expect, and gave her a good tip. Ask for Reese at S&S at Elyson!

They are a fun casual open atmosphere with lots of good looking food choices, Craft beers, and Daniel will take good care of you. Google pulls this up as a Steak place however thats not really their thing. Chill place, decent vibe. Sat at the bar. Waited nearly 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge me due to both girls chatting it up with customers and never bothering to turn around. Once finally acknowledged, the girl waiting gnon me was very sweet and friendly. I ordered the WAP Tacos. Not sure who approved that name, but here we are. I do not do spicy. I always look at the ingredients/description and if its questionable, I ask. Birria tacos are not spicy by nature, and nothing in the description would have lead me to believe otherwise, yet my mouth and half my face were on fire. Seeing that the kitchen was closing soon, I opted to choke them down and go about my day, but I WILL pay for it through the night. Would do some good to update the menu to specify spicy pork or something of that nature. I cannot understand why so many restaurants equate heat with flavor. Its a substitute for flavor and not everyone likes everything spicy. Stop it. Learn to cook....with flavor.

Service and atmosphere was about what you would expect. We had ordered 3 pounds of crawfish to enjoy (minimum order), and were prepared to chow down. We had received our order suspiciously quickly, and the food was very very cold. Thankfully, our server took it back and a reasonable amount of time later, we received our fresh batch of crawfish. Besides this unfortunate experience, the rest of the food was very good and cooked well.

Due to our schedule for the day, my wife and I and a couple of friends had the need for a late-ish night bite and decided on Scholars and Scoundrels in Katy as we were going to be in the area. We live in Sugar Land and have visited the location there too but were particularly happy with the Katy store. We were waited on by Danielle and she was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food (two in particular - sliders, mac&cheese with pulled pork ... not to mention the fries) was excellent. The bar makes great drinks and, on top of all that, the prices are really good too. Updated: I suggest going mid day - not during busier hours. I was given 4 tenders instead of the advertised 5 but our waiter was amazing and corrected it quickly; replacement tender looked and tasted undercooked. Got the Mac and cheese with pulled pork again and it was 30% fat and 70% meat. The honey mustard is more mustard than hunny but still good! What can I say about this place that hasnt already been said? Well, for starters, I was laughing at the names of the dishes while reading the menu Im my hotel room, for a while. I initially went for lunch due to work being rained out, and enjoyed the Did We Just Become Best Friends appetizer tray of bacon in for different varieties. Candied, Deep Fried, Standard, and Jalapeño(this is the money maker, however spicy it is). For my main course, I ordered the Poblano Escobar, which is a chicken fried chicken breast smothered in Poblano cream sauce atop a pile of housemade mashed potatoes. Everything was top notch and I even spent a good 10 minutes chatting with the GM and met (one of?) the owners while perusing the menu. Absolute 11/10, if only for service and dish names. It was so good, I went back for a late dinner and had the OG Burger, I wasnt super hungry thanks to the large lunch and appetizer Id had. The burger was cooked a perfect medium and came dressed exactly as the menu described, I however opted for mayo on my burger and used the Scoundrel Sauce(housemade like burger sauce but way less sweet) and (Sriracha?) Ketchup for my tater tots. I also enjoyed, as well as sampled, several of the Klaus Brewery varieties they had on draft. I really enjoyed the Dunkel dark lager, and the One Helles of a Lager. Still 11/10, will return.

I was pretty excited to try this place when it popped up as recommended when I was staying nearby. Unfortunately everything about the experience was just bland. The only positive was that the hostess was nice, but everything after that just wasnt good. The waitress wasnt bad, but she wasnt good. The burger was way overcooked and dry. The fries were just your typical frozen bag that was re-deep fried. I think the worst part of it all was that you order a beer and they deliver it to you in a cheap plastic cup. Im not at a college kegger anymore. Give me a real cup. Overall, this place was really forgettable and disappointing.

Excellent fast service grill with a sports bar atmosphere. We had the bacon cheeseburger sliders, the fried mac and cheese balls, the green chile queso, and the wedge salad. We wouldnt order the mac and cheese balls again, but loved everything else. It all came out super fast and nice and hot. Our server Jordan was exemplary and we would definitely sit in his section again. Oh, and the ketchup has a nice little kick to it, too. UPDATE 10/31/22: Still amazing food, still amazing service. My mom can not stop raving about the fries. We love S&S!

I love this place! Always a great atmosphere, staff is super friendly and helpful! Our waitress was fantastic! She was funny and has a great personality, she was very observant and attentive. The food and drinks were just what we needed! The variety of Bloody Marys is so good, how do you pick?! Then there s the queso, if you like queso at all, you should order it! Typical bar but with a better than average food menu. I attempted to order the cheat day burger without the buns. Instead I wanted a lettuce wrap the server told me that they can t do that ok. So I just ordered it regular and toss the buns, what a waste. The sweet potato fries were soggy, not sure if this is common with all their fries however the meat patty was tasty. Service (my server) was not busy at all, I was the only table he had and the guy never came around to refill drinks or check in, I had to flag him down to get my bill.
