The food is good, but not great in any certain way. Salsa is good, but a little on the mild side. Parking: Lots of parking outside the front door. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome!

Not sure if the waitress was having a bad day or not but service was a joke. Margaritas were some of the nastiest tasting cheap margarita mix powder. Food was mediocre. Nothing impressive, nothing inedible, but we wont be going back ever.

The sour cream dip was delicious. My partner got the fajita dinner that was good. I got the carne guisada plate. The gravy base was good. They really cut the meat pieces very small so I really didn t get any. I probably wouldn t get this again because of the meat pieces. Rice and beans were good.

6/14/24 went in for an early dinner ~4pm. A very nice gentleman immediately and happily greeted us and showed us to a table. He also was our server. He was a great server and clearly a dedicated, hard worker. The only negative was the fact the poor guy was literally profusely sweating (literally pouring sweat) the entire time we were there. It was really gross and I struggled to eat my yummy food because of that. It wouldn t matter if it were him, my husband, a sister, or whomever else serving me, anyone sweating like that and serving my food, grosses me out and it can definitely ruin your appetite. I would suggest keeping a cloth somewhere in the back that he could frequently wipe his face, head, and neck, and then wash his hands. UPDATE: PERFECTO! Went in for lunch (Saturday 11am). Our meals were PERFECT! I had the #1 Combo; Ground Beef Chili Relleno, Cheese Enchilada, rice and beans. My husband got the same (with a Chicken Enchilada instead of the Cheese that I had). Our meals were hot, freshly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Absolutely delicious!!! Their chips are super crisp and served with a freshly prepared salsa, in addition to a sauce that tastes like Ranch dressing. We really look forward to going back. Picked up a (Thursday) dinner to-go order of chicken enchiladas and one beef enchilada. Food was freshly prepared and delicious. I asked for a little extra red sauce, and green sauce , and they were quite generous with that. Got a whole bag of chips and salsa with it, too. Their chips are super light and VERY crispy.

Better than the terrible place they had in Lago Vista for years called Marias. Was I impressed, nah, but happy to have some reasonable tex-mex in the area, yes. I have had way better and way worse. Everything was just ok from service, to cleanliness, to the food. Nothing to write home about as some say. The picture of the tortilla soup looks better than it was. It was not what I remember it being at this location, maybe different owners now, idk. Fish taco was good.

Bajo La Luna since the new ownership, has hit the Tex-Mex ball out of the ballpark! 5 star food that is every bit as good as the best Tex-Mex Austin has to offer. Chicken enchiladas are excellent and my favorite is the beef chili Relleno !! Food comes out piping hot and is cooked perfectly. The refried beans are cooked perfectly and the rice is fluffy and fresh. The chili Relleno comes out piping hot clearly brought to the table quickly after frying. The chips and salsa are also excellent and the chili con queso rivals that of our favorite Austin Tex-Mex restaurant El Rancho. Service could use some improvement but other than that five stars, and amazing that it is located right here in Jonestown.

Easy 5 stars. The food and service was great. The prices are also very inexpensive but dont let that fool you because the food was very fresh and tasted really good. I especially appreciated the small extra stuff like the tortilla chips that were freshly made and the best I have ever had (not exaggerating). The salsa refill was also a nice small gesture that made me feel like they really care. I prefer warm chips and cold salsa which they had but I know thats a personal preference. It was also at the perfect spice level for me although my wife thought it was a little too much. My son got a pancake which was also very good and they brought it out first as soon as it was ready which was thoughtful. I am not usually a fan of beans but I liked the ones here. The place felt clean and there was plenty of room.

My wind-sisters and I rode our bikes out here for early morning breakfast. We got there when they opened b4 it got busy, so that we could get back out before the 108 degrees catches up with us! Both food and service were good. My friend was very impressed with her Migas( next time i will order that, as my bacon omelet was very dry, overstuffed w/chopped overcooked bacon, no cheese inside, and hardly any on top.I couldnt eat it w/o lots of salsa to give it some moisture-see pic). No time to return it as we were on a road adventure. The other two gals enjoyed their meal. OJ was served in large tea glass, so that was a plus! Attentive waitress. Nice deck outside w/view. Clean restaurant/restrooms. Will come back. Parking: Ample paved parking lot and also side street in back. The only issue is exiting. Extremely busy traffic on FM1431 as this road wraps around the lake and very touristy. It s the motorcyclists dream road to travel due to all the curves, so look carefully both ways when exiting this parking lot.

Tried breakfast here for the first time. Extremely disappointed. I ordered the regular breakfast. 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, beans, and 2 tortillas. I also ordered the waffle. I ordered eggs over easy. I was served eggs over super super hard. I tried to get the waitresses attention and after several attempts she finally acknowledged me and proceeded to communicate with me from across the restaurant instead of coming to my table. There was only one other table at the time. So I held my egg in the air and shouted across the restaurant that I ordered over easy but was served over hard. That s when she fInally walked over. I repeated the info in a regular volume since she finally decided to communicate at the table. I said. I ordered over easy but these are over hard and she responded with . I know . Well, if you knew why did you serve them? Weird. She took just the eggs (star of the breakfast in my opinion) and just left the rest of the plate. When the new eggs arrived, the rest of the food on my plate was cold. The waffle wasn t edible. After I explained that the food was really bad, she offered to get the manager and see if I could get a discount. The manager came out of kitchen, did something on the POS machine and went right back in the kitchen. Never once came to communicate with us. Very odd customer service. He removed one meal from the bill, but we had to pay for the rest of our uneaten food. We left there hungry and feeling VERY ripped off. Came home and cooked. Should ve just done that to begin with. VERY DISAPPOINTED

First time here. Went with another couple. The place was fairly busy. Loud but festive atmosphere with live music and very close quarters. So loud I could not converse with our friends, and it was hot inside the restaurant, seemed like no AC. I was very uncomfortable. Service was excellent, though. This was not my kind of TexMex fare. I ordered a beef fajita burrito plate with rice and charro beans. They offer several types of sauce toppings, green, red, cheese, etc. The rice and charro beans were excellent, perfectly seasoned with traditional Mexican spices. Charro beans vary from place to place. This was the mild variety. I prefer them a bit spicy with jalapeno. But they were very good nonetheless. That was the end of my enjoyment. The beef fajita burrito had very little beef. It was basically a huge flour tortilla roll. Not worth the $15.50 price tag. I asked for TexMex sauce on the side and Im glad I did. The sauce was basically chili powder moistened with watered down tomato sauce, gritty chili powder paste. Sorry, it was horrible. TexMex sauce is supposed to be creamy and brown, not pure red chili powder. I picked out the few strips of beef and left the rest, 95 percent of the burrito was tortilla. My bill was also incorrect. Didnt realize until we were long gone. Charged for a couple of items I didnt order. One last thing, their chips and salsa were very good, not too spicy. But the kicker was their jalapeno ranch dip, to die for. If I ever go back it will be to purchase that dip!

We got their micheladas with Dos, best I ve ever had! Enchiladas and sauce amazing, rice and beans - top notch! Salsa and jalapeño ranch and chips - fresh! Owner is so nice, and I even helped them out by walking up to bar and grabbing our beer because it s family owned and they are busy, doesn t mean it s poor service-just means I m from west texas and I grab what I need. Good food but 2 issues they need to work on: the online ordering is not accurate (for example I see no where to order breakfast tacos online and when you order chili relleno they don t give an option for choice of filling, beans or sauce, so this prompts a phone call. When calling, the person who answers generally is either not able to understand or else a teen with absolutely no customer service etiquette. But, as I said, their food is good. For the reasons stated I can t give 5 stars.

Its one of my favorite tex mex in all of Austin. Mainly because they make their chile rellenos dish with Anaheim peppers. I grew up eating them with HaTch green chilies, and these are closest to that. Ive never been a fan of poblano style rellenos due to how hard and mild the pepper is. I prefer soft and hot. They also have great green hot sauce along with a hatch green chilie gravy! I always stop here for dinner when Im out in the lago/Jonestown area!!

This is a little local place with a full bar. Prices are probably going to be higher than you would imagine with the type of restaurant that it is, but to be expected for the area. My husband ordered some caldo de res and I ordered a beef fajita burrito, which comes served wet (I chose the queso sauce). Hubs said the caldo hit the spot (he was nursing a hangover), and I was surprised how much I liked my food. The rice was well cooked and your typical Mexican rice, refried beans had some decent flavors, and the wet burrito worked well with all the flavors of the meat and queso sauce (it was not drenched, more like a light coating).

We had a great experience, with wonderful service, and fantastic food! We will definitely be back! Parking: The parking lot was a bit small and hard to get in and out of. Kid-friendliness: They had great options for kids, both in Mexican and American cuisine.

Very good service, comfortable prices, very good food and normal portion, so that you eat everything and dont leave anything on the plate, I really liked the place, its my first time in this place, it was an anniversary and we participated in margaritas and cake on Wednesdays and Fridays live music

This place is lovely and feels authentic. Its not high end dining but the kind of place that makes you feel at home. The food was good not spectacular and for the price good is more than fair. Really lovely and comfortable. Definitely recommend.

The jalepeno ranch is better than chuys. I said what I said. Dont come for me! We live in the neighborhood behind this place and we just talked about why dont we go there more often. We went in on Friday night and they had live music, it was a woman singing covers. She nailed Whitney, Gaga, and Alicia Keys. The fajitas were great and our waitress was the best. Parking: Its parking for a Jonestown spot its pretty legit. The lot is a nice size. Not all of it is easy to get into but there are bigger spots in the back. Kid-friendliness: Its 100% a warm family friendly spot.

Heart breaking. When I first went to Baja Luna I went with my wife on a date night. It felt nostalgic, like a place my grandpaw would take me when I was a kid. No thrills or frills just good decently priced food. Service was okay, not bad, not great. Again, just good. Just what I wanted. I really thought I was going to be a regular at this place and decided to bring the whole family next time, here is where it goes South. We were completely neglected. Our waitress never came back to check on us and when the food was brought out they hand my food to me, my wifes food to her, one of my childs food to them annnnnd... that was it. My last child didnt get their food and the server didnt question at all or appear to care that one of our children didnt have any food. Thought it may had been an honest mistake so I waited a bit but they never bought his food. My family doesnt eat until everyone has their food so the rest of the food got considerably cold. Finally I was able to waive a server down. They missed his order and did not apologize at all. Took another 10 minutes or so to get my last childs food. Again no apologies at all and no manager ever came and checked on us. I really wanted this to that place you go and get a good bite to eat with family after a long day. I dont think I can bring myself to go back.
