Havent tried the food. However great atmosphere and service. A nice local bar with welcoming midtown locals. A/C and temp are comfortable, plenty of parking in the small shopping strip. Plenty of other food options in the area. A great starting place for a tour of midtown.

Probably one of the worst bars in Houston. The barman was thinking he was deserving of a tip after being fully rude to our group. Pretty sure he was drunk or high on the job. He was not giving recommendations and generally very mean when I asked questions about what was available on tap. He then berated me about not giving a tip due to his rudeness for about 5 minutes and I just spoke with my wallet at the end of the discussion (he had gauges, I recommend you avoid him). Like he even gave me my receipt back and wouldn t accept it without a tip after he had been so rude; I ve never experienced this at a bar. I tried ignoring him but he was simply just cruel and throughout the night kept approaching our group and chirping me. I typically tip, just this guy was so painful I did not. Tipping culture has gotten out of hand and I won t tip a server particularly if they were as mean as this guy initially was. I won t be returning here.

Bartender on Thursday night gave us the worst customer service I ve ever witnessed. My friends and I are bartenders so we don t ever give any trouble to fellow service workers because we are aware of it. We ordered pizza and I only had one slice and the bartender had the audacity of asking us is this how you treat your home?? With an attitude as he sweeps. I know for a fact that we did not make a mess even if we did that is no way of treating paying customers. When I approached him casually about it, he dismissed me. Y all lost my business after that, sad cause I loved coming to play pool. Get better bartenders. Your bar back, on the other hand treated us with respect the whole night and smiled as he handed our food.

Bartenders are mad rude and maybe even racist!!! Don t go there honestly, came in and asked what kind of beers do you have? Some short bartender guy said watchu see is what we got then obviously i asked for something that was not seen like a regular bud light and he brought one. Paid him with 5$ kept the change as a tip without consent. Then has the nerve to tell me I don t tip, well I obviously wont since you reply extremely rude and grabbed my beer when I was looking at the tv and had a couple sips left. Other bartender says to me after ordering a second beer go drink beer at home, theres 2 doors like what does he expect? I got a 4$ beer he talks that way and begs for a tip and girls started to talk to me and he started yelling he is a no tipper like bro stay in your area just stick to your job which you are terrible at if you don t like how much you make maybe should think about not working on a bar or talk to your manager about your salary, it is not my business to tip you if you suck and are rude, never in my entire life I felt so disrespected with such comments. To summarize and add few of their actions: -asked for menu did not offer and said what you see is what we got. Asked for something i did not see and surprise they had it. -grabbed my beer with no consent and never gave back my change but saiys I didnt tip. -told me out of nowhere we dont serve you because you dont tip. -walked by me as i was on my phone and said theres two door by the way go drink beer at home. -interrupted me and some girl talking by saying he is a big tipper Honestly people like this barman are a cancer to society. Want tips? Maybe be nice!

The place was great service was fantastic! We came here for my birthday and had a great time. Tequila was amazing, not sure what they use but normally tequila kills me the next morning and this time it did not. Everything was going amazing until we left and we couldnt find our car. Even though we were paying customers they still towed our vehicle. $280 later and an Uber we got our car back. Absolutely not okay! The signs say you can park there if you are a paying customer. Those leaches sit there and circle the parking lot. Do not park in their parking lot!

We attended the pride parade and thought we would stop for a bite to eat. Well that wasn t the case because we arrived at 10:50pm, waiter arrived at the table at 11:15, we tried to order and then we told the kitchen closed at 11:00pm. We immediately left the establishment!!

Honestly if I could give this place zero stars I would. Came here to celebrate my friends birthday on Valentine s Day and the bartender who was serving us was EXTREMELY rude. Mind you my friend was showing me around town as I wasn t from the area and I was very nice to him but he told us we had to tip after every round and was upset when we didn t. A good tip is for GOOD service and as a server myself I know how people can be but he definitely didn t give us good service, I even asked if he had any places to recommend just trying to be friendly and not ruin the night and I m not sure if he was having a bad night or not but he told me to go back to Dallas to which my friend said that we should just go if he s going to continue being rude to us which would make anyone upset and start crying. Not sure if this is how customer service always is but I don t recommend anyone coming here if that s how they treat people who aren t from the area it was very disappointing

Tim , the bartender is awesome ! Overall , genuinely nice from the time we spoke . Very attentive to every guest that walked in. He is very helpful. I can tell the customers enjoy his company . Their favorite spot is right at the bar to swap laughs and stories with Tim . Not only is Tim a good vibe for the bar. I enjoyed my baked lemon pepper wings and Brussels sprouts . I will definitely be visiting again . It also stays open till midnight .

This is one of my favorite places to be at midtown. Jeremy & Eli are my favorites bartenders, they have so much experience in the industry. They quick and make a great conversations. I just love how funny they are, but overall they just amazing. I love their vibe and the restaurant vibe too. I won t stop coming because of them!!!!

Bartender tonight (Sunday night) saw us walking in to use the bathroom. Our plan was to go outside for a smoke then immediately come back inside a few drinks and play pool. As we walked out of the bathroom, he said thanks for using our bathroom in a very sarcastic manner.. as if that s all we meant to do. We literally were about to came back and order. We left and never came back. You lost our business. This is not how you run a business.

Instant classic and a fantastic home base. I was a regular when The DHT very first opened... literally I moved into the apartments next door the week after they opened in 1999 and Omario ran the joint. Little has changed... I mean, they changed the carpet, and the staff has swapped out probably a few times, but not the vibe. If you want to feel instantly at home and comfortable, the Dog House Tavern should be where you either start your night or finish it out (or both). Sit at the bar, talk to the bar tenders and tip well... you will have a new home too. Every trip I take to Houston includes multiple trips to the Dog House Tavern... and always will.

Spent 2.5 weeks in Houston and wanted to find a good dive bar with pool and darts. This place was awesome and even though we checked out other bars with pool we kept on coming back here. Its big, has pool and darts, dark but cool bar atmosphere, CLEAN, and has both great food and drinks. My ONLY complaint with this place is that the online music jukebox thing DOES NOT WORK and will just eat your money and theres no refunds, it also plays nonstop random songs and changes songs midway which as kind of annoying. STILL this was our favorite dive bar in Houston and Im so glad we found it!! NOTE: They really need a facebook page and a website we couldnt even tag their bar in our FB pics!

A steadfast go to midtown bar that for more people can be a great place to start the night when hopping around Midtown or possibly end the night. The prices are more than competitive compared to the more trendy neighbors which can lend itself to the idea of either starting out or ending the night when looking for an alternative to pre-gaming at home. Not to mention the flat screen TVs, a lot of bar top real estate, and some stiff pours. It is almost a well kept secret for service industry people.
