I took my grandsons ages 11 & 14 to learn how people lived in the past. I think its important for young people to learn an appreciation of how people lived in the past & progressed through history. The homes are beautiful & well preserved. The guides are friendly & knowledgeable. This is the 2nd time weve been & will probably go again next summer.

Sam Houston Park pleasantly surprised me during the 2024 rodeo run, and Im thrilled I stumbled upon this hidden gem. The parks charm became evident as I explored its features post-race. The Heritage Society, nestled within the park, adds a touch of historical richness. Its separated by a street, with one side offering benches under the shade of a colossal, picturesque tree a perfect spot to relax, read a book, people-watch, or explore the Heritage Society. On the other side, a sprawling area with a pond captivated me, especially considering the grandeur it displayed on the day of the rodeo run. The space accommodated the Parade band, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The parks versatility, combining serene retreats and lively event spaces, left a lasting impression. Sam Houston Park is a true hidden treasure in the heart of the city. Highly recommended, it seamlessly blends history, nature, and community spirit. Even my dogs, accompanying me on this unexpected adventure, thoroughly enjoyed passing through this delightful park. If you havent explored Sam Houston Park yet, its definitely worth a visit for a dose of tranquility and unexpected discoveries.

Houston history in one place. The Heritage Society is a great place to visit to learn about Houston history. You get to travel back and imagine how life was before. You are able to go in some of the houses. You can get a tour guide tour or listen to a prerecorded audio on your phone.

Beautiful park in Texas with awesome sunset and city views. Entire trail is 4.5miles with designated parking slots and accessibility parking options. Sam Houston park is located close to Main street downtown and close to restaurant and cafe.Good to visit for a weekend evening with family

I was here for the Houston 12ks of Christmas run. It s well maintained, beautiful and has the backdrop of downtown. It s a great place to stage races or just hang out and have a picnic.

Nice park in the middle of downtown. Multiple historic houses and a church. And a small art museum. The park seems well maintained, and we only saw 2 or 3 homeless people. You can tour the homes, but days and times are limited. Theres also interesting architecture in the area outside the park.

The Houston Half 10K race. Nice and manageable crowd. The park had a good layout for pre and post race activities. Easy to find tents for running clubs such as PARRs orange tent. The food area was spacious enough for all vendor samples and giveaways. Playground: Nice hill and walking area with greenery. Toilets: Portable but enough stations, all had running water and paper towels before the start of the race, lines but moving Picnic area: Very picturesque. Chill quiet area next to the Houston skyscrapers. Fun little park for kids and adults alike

My family and I had already gone but on December 28, 2022 we decided to go and ask the office if we could enter the houses and they told us that the price was 15.00 per adult and 6.00 per minor and you can enter 3 of the houses Whichever you choose, the price also includes seeing the small museum they have in the offices, the guide will tell you the history of the house, you can also ask him questions about something in particular, only everything is in English, you can also scan with yourself. Telephone the QR code that is at the entrance of each house and listen to the history of that house in your language. By the way, the staff is very friendly.

About Sam Houston Houston town is name after Sam Houston. Very nice and big place to go to. You should go to see it and go across the street even more. Very excational you can use cell phone for tour. Across the street from the Barbara Bush library! Toilets: Are never opened are always locked
