Well put together museum, with the Holocausts information presented in an engaging yet somber experience that made me really think about the events as something beyond a history lesson as taught in school

It has a lot of security at the door. I went because there would be a Spanish show and they really talked in the presentation about Spanish, the importance of Latinos and everything, that was the reading of the presentation, but at the time of presenting it was in English . The choir was there, they sang bilingually.

Every story, every detail, intricately grasps the viewer and takes you back through a living memorial of the holocaust. My daughters and I left the museum in deep conversation and mixed emotions. There is no doubt that propaganda can have devastating consequences. We recommend this museum to anyone who is willing to step into the lives of those who enacted in heinous acts, those who suffered, and of those who lost their lives. Hopefully, this will inspire individuals to place a stop towards hatred.

The Holocaust Museum Houston is a profoundly moving and educational experience that everyone should visit. The museum is beautifully designed, with exhibits that are both powerful and respectful, offering a deep and impactful understanding of the Holocaust and its lessons for humanity. The artifacts, survivor testimonies, and multimedia displays are incredibly well-curated, providing a comprehensive look at this tragic period in history. What really stood out to me was how the museum not only focuses on the past but also connects it to current issues of human rights and social justice, making the experience relevant and thought-provoking. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and passionate, ready to answer questions and provide additional insights. Its a place of reflection, learning, and a reminder of the importance of tolerance and understanding. Highly recommend visiting, whether youre a local or just passing through Houston this is a museum that will leave a lasting impression.

The exhibition had many items that could only be seen in documentaries, so seeing them in the actual invokes deep emotions. The only revision I would suggest is to add that the conplecitesnes of the German people are very much downplayed in the tours and displays. Also, the fact that the Vatican had much influence on the policies and stance of the Catholics during the Shoa.

The museum has been enhanced since my last visit - over 14 years ago. It is a great museum to enlarge what you learn from history and honor the survivors that relocated to the area and contributed to telling their stories. If you visit to take in the accounts, you will leave moved by them to ponder world and Jewish history.

I am glad we have this in Houston. I became aware of some new facts and enjoyed the large maps and videos. No Educator discount and disappointed the entrance fee was $22 per person. I also paid the $5 parking fee. I enjoyed learning about the families settling in Houston, but I would have enjoyed learning about others experiences around the world and how they transitioned back into their lives. Felt it was small for the fee paying.

This is a well-curated, clean, and well-maintained museum. The content is interesting and relevant to each visitor - there is an exhibit for every person to relate to and learn from. The docent (Hy Penn) is a wonderful storyteller and has a captivating story to keep you engaged through the guided tour portion of the museum. Should you have the opportunity to join the tour during your visit, I would absolutely recommend it. Admission is free to the public after 2PM on Thursday, and thats when we attended. We will need to visit again, as we were only able to see about half of what the museum had to offer during that time.

This museum is different from many others that also talk about the Holocaust, in that there are many stories told of survivors who after the event decided to come to the United States and reside in Houston. This makes it feel closer because you can give a face and voice to the story of millions of people. It is undoubtedly a topic that is very difficult to digest but is worth visiting at least once. The entire museum takes you along from the beginning of the events and until the liberation, it is very visual and I liked that there are many maps that allow you to locate where the events happened. I highly recommend it.

At first I was confused because according to the map the museum is super big but really the part that has to do purely with the Holocaust is only the one at the bottom. Because I wanted to cover everything, I did the tour very quickly and then I realized that I had already finished. I recommend taking your time if you want to read all the content, it will take you about 3 hours but it is worth it. The Holocaust Museum Houston is one of those destinations everyone should visit at least once. It s a solemn place full of educational exhibits extolling the virtues of human rights. It s not just about the WWII holocaust. It s about human atrocities committed and fought against around the world. As a case in point about its broad spectrum of information, I was there for the Green Book exhibit. The Green Book was published in a time when motor travel by African Americans was difficult to find places to eat, sleep and have fun due to segregation and discrimination. The Green Book exhibit provided by the Smithsonian shows the people and places featured in the book. One should never look at another travel guide anywhere without appreciating the fact that this was not always the situation.
