I was recently laid off. Called the Wiley Wheeler Firm to inquire about setting up a possible consultation. The receptionist who answered, I believe her name was Claire; was extremely cold and robotic. I started off the conversation by telling her why I was calling and she quickly cut me off about 3-4 seconds mid sentence to let me know that she is not a lawyer . (As if I was dumb enough to not know that?) She then quickly fired off a list of questions. It came off like I was talking to an irritated drive through employee at a fast food joint. She then quickly informed me of the next available apppointment and that I would need to pay right then and there in order to book. I told her that I would think about it but had no intention of moving forward. Honestly the price wasn t bad but I felt like this lady couldn t care less about my situation so I ended up calling around to the next place where the lady had compassion and even though it cost me $200 more I booked with them. I would HIGHLY recommend Claire be retrained in her approach. Her cutting me off was so abrupt and to the point that I honestly thought there was a glitch in the phone. When I tried to finish my sentence she cut me off again. I imagine a lot of people calling about employment issues have probably been through a lot and it doesn t help the situation to be treated like that when your looking for help. Anyways, I hope this addressed with her.

I was interested in producing a demand letter to help with negotiation, which I shared when contacting the law office. When I was asked for the $150 consult fee, I wasnt certain yet that this was the firm for me because they wouldnt communicate who I would be meeting with or a bio. I rechecked online and the online scheduling fee was 250 or 450 for specific services so I inquired directly about the demand letter fee. I was again directed to the consult and if I booked through the phone I could get the 150 price. I went ahead with the consult only to be told that they dont do a la carte services and would only do the work on my case for a 10k retainer plus 30% contingency. Had the scheduler had the professionalism to understand what they do and dont lffer or at least checked then it would have saved me time and money. The person I met with was helpful but not useful for my situation.

Was directed by google for unemployment insurance appeal attorney was to be pro Bono free to the low income who qualify. Called to get an appointment was told it was 250 just to talk to the attorney and 500 to attend the telephone appeal version of the case . Was very upset with the information I received being in need of attorney for my case and not being financially able to pay for there services .. No Pro Bono attorneys thats for certain..

I was calling to schedule a consultation. I was told that the fee for a consult is $150. Not a problem. However, I wanted to know before I handed over my money if the firm had experience with Autism Discrimination. The receptionist was rude and kept telling me that was a question for the attorney and she refused to answer. I dont want a consultation with someone who doesnt understand my issues or doesnt have experience with it. It was a simple yes or no question.

At this point, I have only had the initial consultation, but Shaleigha Shepard was not only knowledgeable, but helpful. She listened to what what happening at work, asked questions and pressed for details, then outlined what she thought I should do and what kind of timeline and end result could be expected. What really made a difference, is she suggested one more letter to HR asking for specifics and clarifications and to reiterate the issues before moving forward. I appreciate that she and the firm didn t just want to immediately get me to sign retention papers, but encouraged me to talk to HR one more time. If needed I will decently be using this team.

What type of law firm is this that have ignorants employers answering the phone. I was inquiring about a loudermil hearing representation and Vanessa didn t know the term loudermill hearing and she decided to disconnect the call with a nasty attitude. I was just inquiring if they provided the services. I was not going to pay $250 consultation fee without knowing if they provided the services first. Looks like this lady was on her period or didn t have a good night sleep. What can you expect from a company that have ignorant operators as first impression.

I was very still distraught over the events of injustice and having a hearing to talk about the events again made me very nervous and uneasy. Let me start by saying that I never write reviews but this must be said. Kalandra Wheeler was amazing!! My thing is communication. I want to know what s going on even if there s nothing going on. There was never one time that I had to call her back because she didn t respond to my call or email. Even on the weekends, she was prompt about answering emails. She was up front and honest about what she could/couldn t do. She would advise me but she also listened to my opinion. I was very satisfied with the resolution. After an employment dispute with one of my previous employers, I sought legal representation to recover the damages. After some exhaustive research, I contacted Kalandra Wheeler with Wiley Wheeler, P.C. in Houston, TX. It is one of the best decisions that I could have made given the circumstances. From the initial meeting until resolution, Kalandra was extremely professional and kind and always focused on the facts of my case and worked quickly to outline our strategy. I should also point out that before I contracted with Wiley Weeeler, P.C. I had already met with another attorney who started my case but said early on that I did not have a case worth pursuing which was extremely frustrating. For someone who has never hired a lawyer, I am glad Mrs. Wheeler provided amazing service for my first experience. I did what any millennial does these days and I googled employer lawyer houston. Luckily Mrs. Wheelers firm had not only google ads, but a website that explained exactly the areas that they covered. After paying the consulting fee, I was able to meet with Mrs. Wheeler and she was diligent in her time to ask all the right questions, I never felt rushed, never felt pressured, and she put explained exactly what she could offer in my particular case. Challenging my former employer for gender discrimination was a very scary decision for me. I was fortunate to find and retain the services of trial attorney Julie St. John, of the Wiley Wheeler firm in Houston, TX. Ms. St. John was consistently aggressive in her approach, and demonstrated true confidence and assertive poise throughout the process. She refused my former employers stalls, made our case, demanded remuneration, and ultimately, facilitated and arranged a mediation in lieu of a trial, which benefited both parties. What impressed me most perhaps was her refusal to accept intimidation tactics, including inappropriate comments made in an elevator prior to mediation. She was NOT having it! Ms. St. John led the entire process and minimal communication was required of me after our initial few meetings. She advised me throughout the process and kept me abreast of responses and next steps. Within six months, the matter was successfully resolved, (without the time and expense of going to court), and a settlement agreement was reached.
