A month after my husbands death, I received a notice from OPM wrongfully denying my survivor benefits. I was issued a proposed removal letter at the VA where I work as a nurse, and I didnt know what to do. I was confused and disoriented. I quickly browsed the internet for federal attorney and the first one that popped up was Pines Federal. I decided to give them a call and they connected me with Amanda Moreno to handle my case. I presented the letter of proposed removal to her and the associated evidence documents. She prepared to help me by drafting the response to the proposed removal, represent me during oral presentation, and appeal if necessary. I have never been involved in a court case before and was scared to make even the first phone call to seek legal counsel. I found Pines Federal after reviewing several offices for specific criteria (in my case federal employment law). I worked primarily with Eric Pines and, despite the stress of the ordeal, found him competent, assertive, and willing to go the extra mile every step of the way (emailing me while he was on vacation, etc). I worked in EEO for the VA and when I started I kept hearing the name Pines Federal. At the time all I knew of them was that those cases have to be thoroughly reviewed and most of time by our Sr management. This was a shock to me because most of our other cases we were being forced to close as soon as possible most of them without absolutely any attempt at resolution. I had worked extremely hard to get to EEO and at the same time I was being pursued by supervision to throw in mediation or close it regardless of working it. I began working extra hours to both do my job and satisfy my supervisors. This was often off the clock long hours because I felt so shameful for not doing my job. After over a year of mental health counseling my therapist said this was making so many of my conditions worse and it was evident I couldnt continue under these circumstances. After trying to prove him wrong and feeling more and more I was being apart of the problem not the solution by not providing service l put in for disability retirement. As both a veteran and someone who worked in Federal Government through HR and EEO please believe YOU ARE ONLY AN EXTRA PAPER WORK ON A DESK. The employee is being pushed for 1 job and thats to make you a piece of paper on someone else desk. However that happens is of no concern. Regardless of years of medical history and multipule Dr recommendations my retirement was denied and the denial had little to no good reason behind it. I remembered the name Pines Federal and I know I worried Ari in particular but he was always professional and always willing to help me. Thankfully my retirement was approved and I extremely greattful of all of Pines Federal for their work. I very rarely post reviews on Yelp, or elsewhere, but my experience with Eric Pines and his office was so profoundly positive that I felt compelled to share. I am a physician at the VA, and I have NEVER filed any lawsuit in my entire life, (including in my entire 40 year long medical career), until I began being subjected to extreme harassment, and retaliation by a high level administrator who created a toxic work environment for me, as a female physician. After submitting a complaint to the EEOC, I was promised that a lawyer from my union would be assigned to me, but this did not pan out. I was terrified to tackle the confusing and extremely stressful paperwork alone, and found Eric Pines on line and reached out. He sensed my terror, responding immediately on a weekend to my initial email. He took on my case from start to completion of the process that resulted in my receiving a successful and timely settlement negotiation. While his services were by no means inexpensive, the outcome was well worth the cost - my dignity was restored, my abuser was terminated from his position, the harassment ended, and the financial award I received included a full refund of my legal fees.

In November 2021 I was fired from the VA in Jackson. I contacted Pines Federal and was assigned to Eve Patcher. Once Ms. Patcher got the case, everything began rolling. She was very thorough and listened to what I was saying. Ms. Patcher didnt make any promises, but assured me that she would do everything possible to get my job back. After spending over 15 years working As Register Nurse and suffered from Brain Aneurysm, I was forced to face the fact that I could not continue. So, with the support of my Neurosurgeon I began researching various Internet sites along with OPMs web pages to educate myself on the process and procedures required to apply for FERS disability retirement. While the application process is very involved. I realized even with my medical background, it cannot be completed without professional help. Given my medical issues and circumstances, I decided the cost involved with obtaining top-notch help was well worth it and the payment plan they offer was great. I reasoned that the possible outcome of denial and the appeal process could cause financial losses much greater. While having professional support with the application is no guarantee of success, I wanted the best possible case, with the best possible chance for a favorable decision, as I could no longer continue working and I feel strongly that retaining the support was crucial to obtaining OPM approval. Rus Wersing and Mr Pine was my primary interface with Pines LLC, Ms. Rus, were immediately dedicated to building my case. I really appreciated the advice and counsel offered by Justin and Eric because they actually appeared to care about me and my specific legal issue, and they offered what I considered to be sound advice that no other attorney did or would give me. Pines even went as far as stating while theyd be willing to represent me, and take my money, it would end up costing me a lot of money when I dont really need a lawyer to get the results I was looking for. Unfortunately, when you exercise your rights, and participate in the EEO process you also open yourself up for Retaliation from individuals within the Agency. I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs, In 2014 I contacted Eric Pines Law for assistance with an possible discrimination issue. Thanks to the knowledge and professionalism of Eric Pines Attorneys, they were able to secure a reasonable and satisfactory settlement. Upon my return to duty, I immediately noticed that management continued to treat me differently than other staff. So, I calmly began to take notes and recap in email, situations that I considered out of the ordinary. Ultimately, I gathered and compiled enough information to file a claim for Retribution due to my prior EEO case and subsequent settlement. I RAN back to Eric Pines Law! I was assigned Attorney Joshua Kahn to handle my complaint. I found Josh Kahn to be very knowledgeable in Federal Employment Law, with a long impressive background to back it up. After spending five years working in a cyberspace engineering position and struggling with progressively worsening spine and chronic pain conditions, I was forced to face the fact that I could not continue. So, with the support of my long-time primary care physician, I began researching various Internet sites along with OPMs web pages to educate myself on the process and procedures required to apply for FERS disability retirement. While the application process is very involved and carries built-in pitfalls, it can be completed without professional help if one is so inclined. However, given my medical issues and circumstances, I decided the cost involved with obtaining top-notch help was well worth it. I reasoned that the possible outcome of denial and the appeal process could cause financial losses much greater. While having professional support with the application is no guarantee of success, I wanted the best possible case, with the best possible chance for a favorable decision, as I could no longer continue working and I feel strongly that retaining the support was crucial to obtaining OPM approval. Eric Pines and my primary interface with Pines LLC, Ms. Cyril Dubin, were immediately dedicated to building my case. I complained to the EEO about a reasonable accommodation denial and within days, the Agency leveled discipline. I spoke to several attorneys who didnt speak plain English. So I took to the internet. I found the Eric L. Pines Group; spoke to Aaron Wersing and was amazed by how pleasant he was. I felt safe instantly. He didnt pressure me, but recommended a 2 hour consultation with Attorney Pines. I went with his recommendation and I was hooked right away. Eric Pines truthful, to-the-point, respectful and by the end of the consultation, offered me a solution to my issue and advised me to make a decision; no pressure.
