My husband and I want to thank Courtney and Emily at Lawless for everything, for doing an awesome job and for being on top of things throughout our wedding day and the months prior with the wedding planning. We appreciate it! They were very helpful and so kind to us on every single meeting we had and the day of our event, answering every question we had. Were really glad and happy that they were the team that we selected to be by our side on our very special and big day, with our loved ones. We could not have had someone better than Lawless. We did not have a wedding planner and during the planning process felt a little bit stressed (as expected for weddings), but we never felt concerned at all about our wedding dinner/celebration at Lawless because Courtney gave us such peace of mind, showing a very important attention to details and being able to communicate with us everytime we needed her. We had a very Dominican wedding, celebrating with friends and family from the Dominican Republic and New York City, as well, so Lawless was a great fit for what we were looking for; a very intimate celebration. Our guests were having a blast on the dancefloor and were in awe with the Downtown views and weve received the best feedback about the food, drinks and the place after our wedding. We are really looking forward and cannot wait to have another reason to celebrate just so we can call them back and have as much fun as we did on our wedding day!! To all their future clients who are considering Lawless for their upcoming events: 10/10 highly recommend.

We had our wedding here in February of 2024. The space is so incredibly beautiful. It would have been worth it for the view and the vibe alone. To our enormous delight, the staff is also unbelievably friendly and helpful, and the cocktails are to die for. Lawless did not charge an event fee, only the food and beverage minimum, a small fee to do the ceremony on site (ours was $500) and a fee for a day of coordinator (so worth it!). This is a game changer for a wedding budget. We selected the plated dinner, and they were flexible with us on plating when we asked for small adjustments. Every time we had a question, they were extremely responsive. We had concerns about accessibility for our guests with wheelchairs, but the team at Lawless provided detailed instructions on how to access from The Rice elevators. We cannot thank Mel, Emily, Courtney, Morgan, and Caleb enough for making our special day run smoothly and look perfect.

Ya ll are awesome Liam and Danny are amazing bartenders the drinks are top notch. I would rather come upstairs to Lawless for drinks then go downstairs to Sambuca which has piss poor service as I couldn t even get anyone to come to my table for drinks let alone take our order for Food. Liam and Danny have made the best drinks and the conversation was amazing Thank you Lawless for being awesome we appreciate you so much!!

We hosted our sons rehearsal dinner at The Lawless recently, and everything from the planning to the night of the event ran smoothly! Emily is a joy to work with, as all the staff are! Alexis & Caleb kept the food & drinks flowing! The dual entree dinner was excellent! And, the ambiance, rehearsal video, lovely fruit, cheese & crackers appetizer all added to a perfect evening! We seated 60, but it will hold 80. If you are looking for a memorable event, book The Lawless!

This place was fantastic. The service was a 10/10 (Sara and Denny were very attentive, responsive, and personable - they even remembered our names when we went back). The atmosphere was also a 10/10 (we were looking for a low-key rooftop bar where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of Houston in the open air without club-like music preventing you from holding a conversation). Lastly, the drinks were phenomenal as well. My personal favorite was a green tea cocktail w/Jameson that Denny recommended.

Our wedding reception experience at Lawless could not have been more perfect. We originally were planning our reception in their sister space, the Crystal Ballroom at The Rice. While this historic Houston space was equally as beautiful, Covid had other plans for our reception and venue. Its rare that wedding receptions go completely without a hitch, but ours DID! Courtney and Emily did an amazing job ensuring our vision came to fruition, and Courtney was amazing as our day-of coordinator. Here we are six months later and our guests are STILL raving about how good our food was! Drinks were revolving quickly, our DJ had a great space/dance floor, and we even had a cigar roller on the terrace. Seriously, book your event today at Lawless! We maxed out the space with 85 guests and the room still felt spacious. Our floral and cake deliveries were also handled seamlessly the day of. I couldnt recommend a better venue. Additionally, an organization Im part of for work has booked this space for corporate events, so youre working with a dynamic venue.

A gorgeous spot to hangout and have a fantastic time! We were there as a party of 8 and decided to sit outside. The views are amazing! Inside the decor is extremely pretty with a touch of 1920s vibe. Our server Bree (I hope I got the name right!) was exceptional! She was fast, efficient and very courteous. The drinks were amazing, I had the Lavender and Hibiscus Martini and got it made with tequila...delicious! Also the food is good but its shareable style rather than a whole meal!

Let me start off by saying that the decor and the terrace view was absolutely beautiful. Great photo opportunities in this place for sure. Park valet if you can, trying to find street parking is annoying in Downtown Houston. However, the service and the food was lackluster. The service was unattentive, and untimely. Both of these things can be improved if the owners care.

Came here with some friends and was sooo disappointed. The bartenders had no concept of cocktails or tasting before sending it out. We ordered 3 White Russians which came out with no kaluah and 4 ounces of cream. Ordered a mojiot and got a lime juice drink with no sweetener to balance the lime and no mint. If you don t know how to make basic cocktails, google it or just tell the guest. We had a bill of $80 and were all disappointed with all of our drinks. Never coming back or going to Sambuca and will warn other to not go here.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My boyfriend and I went there this past week and service was lacking, to say the least. Upon arriving we came across a young woman putting up signs on a few tables in the area where we wanted to be seated - there were no other customers seated inside. I waited a few seconds for her to turn around, but she didnt so upon confirming the tables were not reserved, we sat down and viewed the menu. She asked if we knew what we wanted and we said no so she went away and about two minutes later asked again. We asked her to come back in two minutes and wed place our order. She never came back. In the meantime, I went into the restroom only to find out that 2 out of 3 restrooms were out of tissue. In total, we waited about twenty minutes before walking up to the bar to ask if I was supposed to place the order myself. I waited at the bar for another two minutes before any of the 4 employees bothered to talk to me. Finally someone took my order after I informed them our waitress had gone AWOL. When we received our food, it was cold and unpleasant. Cant believe this establishment was this terrible seeing as how we were the only ones seated inside. The music was extremely loud - probably why there was nobody else inside. I expected a lot more seeing as how it is owned by Sambuca (according to the bartender) and Ive never had a problem with Sambuca. The only thing I enjoyed during this visit was one of the drinks we bought. Everything else I could do without.

It was hard to rate this place because the service was bad but the food was fantastic. I came in for the first time on a Friday night and wasn t greeted or even acknowledged- at first I actually thought they were closed because of how dark and empty it was. There were a few people behind the bar but they didn t even look up from what they were doing. I found my way to the patio and sat down with my friend. It took a while to get a menu and our food orders in. The food was a little pricey but absolute amazing and worth it. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked and on the food alone I would have given the place a 5 star review. I ordered a drink off the cocktail menu and it was also amazing so I ordered another. The second time the drink tasted completely different so I told the waiter they got the order wrong. I waited a while to get my drink back and when I finally got it back it again tasted way different from my original drink. I m not sure if they messed up my original order or the two re-dos but it was very disappointing that they couldn t get it right after having enjoyed the first drink so much. The service here is really lacking, it s slow and disappointing, and the staff (other than our waiter) didn t seem friendly or helpful. The patio is a nice sitting area with good views.

This place is pretty great. I hate going to main street bars, but enjoyed it here. The DJ was great and the atmosphere was nice. The bartenders took a while to make drinks, and my drink was certainly a bit off. I ordered a whiskey sour and it was probably the most sour thing I have had since I was a kid and tried to eat 10 warhead candies at once for a dare. Unfortunately the beer selection is absolutely sad though. On top of that, the drinks were each over $10, small, and honestly not that good. All in all, another main street bar that can get away with mediocre drinks for extravagant prices, but still a fun place to go, and even the drinks dont matter if you show up already buzzing.

It is very rare for me to leave a bad review, but I am very disappointed in the service I received. I came for a friends party and accidentally arrived 30 minutes before the host. I let them know I was with the party & the guy said, She didnt have anything ordered for the party. Did you want a drink or something? So, I ordered some sliders. The sliders were actually yummy. But, shortly after the host arrived I found out she had prepaid for 30 sliders among other stuff. Online it says Happy Hour starts at 4, it doesnt mention an end time, & I arrive at 7:15... happy hour apparently ends at 7, so they charged me more than I was expecting to pay... they were already charging me for something I could have received for free, then they overcharged me, & offered me nothing to make it right. I am all about customer service, so I will not be returning. You can get good food LOTS of places, but good service is hard to come by!

The view was nice, but the service was horrible. No one came over with with a menu, but after sitting 15-20 minutes we decided to get up and ask for one. We were given one,between the two of us. We ordered nachos that s did not look like the advertised nacho. A brisket nacho with little to no brisket and lots of chips. Basically 13.00 for chips. I then ordered two Lucky Charms, which the guy spilled all over the table and then informed us they didn t have all the ingredients. I will admit Beautiful place, but that was definitely my first and last visit.

I liked it! The atmosphere is great, beautiful inside and a small but great outdoor/rooftop patio! I didnt like the staff unfortunately, all seemed grumpy if you will. They need to cheer up if they want more business but maybe it was an off day?!

Cool bar near Jones Hall. I think it may be a bit pricier than desired normally, but I strongly recommend stopping by during their HH. If its a nice day out, they have a great balcony as well.

Lovely place, good vibe, nice patio. Decent food, and tasty if uncomplicated drinks. However, they have a 1/2 priced champagne cocktail special for Friday and Saturday nights, for which they offer a French 75. But, after the discount, its still $10.xx; the bartender says the reasoning is that since the cocktail has 2 liquors in it, it needs to be that expensive. Nevermind most of their drinks have multiple liquors in them yet manage to be priced in the $10-12 range baseline, but *no one* charges $20+ for a French 75 unless its made with, like, grand cru champagne (which this certainly isnt). So, either the bartender was lying to me to boost her sales, or these are the least competent/principled bev managers Ive ever encountered. Either one, wont be coming back, there are too many other places to visit in this city.

Great patio to sit on and enjoy a nice spring day in Houston, the entrance is on the side of Sambucas off of Travis street. Head up the stairs for a swanky bar with nice apps and drink specials.

Excellent service and food! Our work group of 12 came in for a happy hour. I planned ahead to make sure everyone was happy (sounds like some folks should realize that when in large groups). Pre-ordered apps showed up right after everyone sat down and ordered drinks! We had about 3 servers taking care of us (granted, it was slow - its a Monday). Ordered several charcuterie boards, flatbreads and brisket potstickers. We left happy and the bill wasnt going to break the bank! Winning again with my work team!
