I love this train. My sisters and I along with my mom go every year. Were making it a family tradition. This particular time was an electric train. Now the regular gas train worked a lot faster and work more better than this electric train. The electric train is very slow it stops on the track and it takes longer to get across. I hate that it went Electric but it gives you a tour of all of the attractions like the zoo Hermann Park the Sam Houston statues and a little bit of the medical center. The lines are long to ride. We waited an hour and a half, but it was worth it.

In response to global energy-saving and emission-reduction strategies, Hermann Parks 70-year-old train has undergone electrification, introducing two brand new electric trains the ExxonMobil Express and the Dr. Jack Express. To celebrate this eco-friendly upgrade, Hermann Park is offering free rides from August 31 to September 6. Our family decided to join in on the fun today, and it turned out to be quite a *hot* experience! With it being Labor Day weekend, the park was packed. In 30-degree heat, we waited in line for half an hour before finally boarding the train. To cool down, we ended up buying several cold drinks, so while we saved on train tickets, we certainly didn t save on refreshments. Despite the heat, the parks scenery is as beautiful as ever, and the newly built playground and water park are definitely worth exploring with the kids. I highly recommend taking advantage of the free ride event before it ends, but be sure to check the weather, choose a cooler time of day, and try to avoid the holiday crowds. #HermannPark #ElectricTrain #FamilyTime #EcoFriendly

Rode the first weekend with the new electric trains and the train ride was almost an hour with how slow the train goes now. Not sure if that is the new normal or not, but we will not be riding again unless it goes a similar pace to the old trains. Also got their right when they opened at 10am (on Saturday) and was told they planned for the first train to leave at 10:30, which I find odd since the opening hours says 10am. This was the free ride weekend so I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 since I didn t pay anything.

They upped the price on the tickets. You need a buy an all day pass now, so a one train ride ticket is not an option. We went and bought the tickets but no one told us that only one train is working. So we ended up waiting over 35 minutes for our turn with 2 kids. Do better... thats unacceptable!

Lots of fun for the kids, young and old! The tickets are day passes, so you can ride as many times as you like. Jump off at the Museum of Natural Science, Space Park, or just make the loop. You have to purchase the tickets at the train station, though, or purchase them online, which is what we did. Oh yeah, and they have toy trains in the gift shop, lol!

I had the worst experience here today. Apparently it was the first day the train was going through a new area, which was problem number 1 they did not let people beforehand how much longer the wait would be. Problem 2 they do not account for children which sensory issues which is really poor on their part. Then when they decided to cancel the train due to the other train no longer working, it was very unapologetic. I get there is only so much you can do but annoucing it closed and then running off bc you knew people were upset just added to a horrible situation. Then on top of that if you wanted a refund you also had to wait back in line again after an hour of already waiting with no train.

The train was full, but we still stopped in front of the other hopeful, would be passengers for 5-10 mins. Still its something to do and if you have kids, theyll love it.

The kids love the train. We are science museum members and the train stops right by the museum. You can jump on at any of the stations and then buy a ticket back at the main station in the park to get back on and back to your stop. They sell all day passes too so if you re going to picnic, visit the museums, and maybe get a paddle boat, the train is a fun way to get around. Did I mention the kids love it? And the station has a gift shop and ice cream. You can t take it in the train though. There s also usually no or not much wait.

I have always been a fan of miniature railroads. Growing up in San Antonio I always looked forward to riding the trains at Breckenridge Park. Fast forward to today and I still love these things. It was sort of lame when they first opened the train in Houston. It was much too short and there was little to see. But recently, they really improved the experience by making the route much longer. The route now takes you thru the best features of Herman park.
