Every time I have gone there, it is always a long wait, the front desk ladies do not acknowledge anyone and we have to wait forever to get seen. The last straw for me was when I went there and the front desk person was very rude, people standing around in lobby waiting and an elderly lady brings in a HUGE dog who is lunging at people and dogs. Front desk lady does not say a word. Several of us take our dogs out to our cars since we have been waiting forever and this huge dog is about to kill someones dog. The front lady was so incredibly rude and basically did not care about this aggressive dog. When I asked her any questions she would make a snarky face like my questions were stupid. She should not be working the front desk anywhere.

Vet was good but the assistant didnt seem to listen very well when we talked. The assistant also interrupted us when we were talking to say something really unnecessary and juvenile. The vet seemed okay with it the interruption and answered her. Chances are, I will not go back.

Very lovely staff, and always 0 issues here. If I could make one suggestion, there is always a very pungent urine smell when you come in, and it is VERY unpleasant. I understand there is not much you can do with the high volume of animals, which is why I continue to come.

My hubby brought my pup yesterday for a wellness check and now she is hurting. I called to ask what was done (procedure wise) and they said she got a shot (kinda like the flu so shes going to hurt) she is in so much pain behind her leg and around her back area. They said I can pay again to take her in, and to add insult to injury they forgot to charge me something. My pooch was absolutely fine.

My little sisters dog is sick is having trouble breathing and his gums turned white. This was the only vet listed that said they where open till 8 we got here at 5:40pm and they where closed. I had even called before hand to ask for a quote on a visit for today with no heads up that they where closing early.

As I said before I ve been taking all my pets here for now over 16 yrs and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were seen pretty quickly. I had to take 1 of my dogs and my cat. I saw a doctor I had not seen before, Dr Rios and she explained what both pets diagnosis was, the treatment plan, what to expect and what the outcome can be. She took her time with us. I saw a lot of new personnel. My only critique is with the amount of staff I saw you would think you could get appointments in a short time frame. I scheduled my appointment a month ago and that was the soonest they had. In addition, I was not advised about the costs of medication before preparing it. It caught me by surprise when the receptionist told me how much I had to pay. I understand they are one of the most affordable vets in the area but still I just wish I had been told ahead about the costs. The staff is very friendly. It is one of the most affordable vets in the area. I ve been bringing all our pets here for over 15 yrs and I would not change it. The only downside is sometimes the wait can be long for either appointments or at the visit

Wish I could give this place zero stars!! Brought my dog in because he had gotten attacked and they charged me like $225 because I was a new client?? I mean wouldn t you charge less since I m new? Doesn t make sense but anyways I paid because my dog was in pain and I wanted him to get checked. They checked him and told me he was fine so I trusted them and took him home. Turns out he had THREE open wounds that they didn t at least stitch up:( his kidneys are failing and he has an ulcer in his eye. I paid like almost three hundred bucks just for them to tell me he s fine and give me some medicine!! Worst experience ever I wouldn t recommend them whatsoever!!!

We were sitting there for over an hour despite having an appointment, The waiting area was too small for the amount of people coming in left and right and the receptionist was pretty much taking her sweet time getting everyone taken care of. The lady that called us back there was really rude. No one told us about the 1 person rule and I would have understood but the way she spoke to me and shut the door in my face after telling me only 1 person allowed was really rude. Ill be taking my dog somewhere else from now on.

Staff were supportive when I had to put my beloved Shih Tzu, TOBY. Months later my son in law paid for another Shih Tzu and took Buddy to be examined and I have taken him several times to vet. People there are very polite and they help me with Buddy to my truck each time I go there. Just got a new haircut.

We just got a puppy! Bear has been ours for two weeks! Of course, we wanted to have him checked out to make sure he was healthy! I called and we got in within a week! The tech was knowledgeable and the vet was great! In and back out in just over an hour! This week, he goes back for a shot! They said a shot is with a tech, you sign in, dog goes back and gets the shot and youre out the door in 15 minutes! Nice that they value your time too! Thank you!

it has great prices and is good for basic necessities however when my dog started having some issues , ofc i took her to the vet. doc said she may have an infection OR seasonal allergies. gave me antibiotics AND changed her diet and she was fine. went back for a similar issue bc it came back and doc GUESSED again that it was environmental allergies and said no beef or chicken. guessing is not the way to go. i stopped feeding her both and she continued. changed her diet back and added some things i found online to help and she got so much better within the first three days. saved myself like $150 with a google search which is not a good thing for the vet. fur baby is doing much better and i will be switching vets bc i don t like playing the guessing game. she s supposed to be a doc and gave diagnosis without any testing.

After my pet got surgery, they didnt give me my deposit bc apparently they took 25$ off my previous appt for another pet and didnt tell me. The lady at the front said it was their fault for jot telling me and kept the 25$. The other 25$ they took off from an appt that i missed that i had already payed 25$ for missing. So bc they were dishonest, they will be losing far more money than the 50$ deposit

Front desk personnel very nice. Didnt have to wait to long after appt time. Vet assistant very gentle with Bo. Only thing was, when vet came in she didnt introduce herself (knew she was vet by name tag). I felt a little rushed. Overall i will go back with Bo.

Been coming here for years but today was our best visit. Woke up to my cat bloody around the neck and acting tired. Called the office and they were able to get us seen the same day. My cat had an abscess and they were able to assess him, drain it, and get us his medicines in less than an hour! Staff took such good care of our boy and explained everything so well. I could tell my cat felt very safe around those treating him. They answered all my questions and really took their time. My cat was home for 5 minutes and already acting much more like himself. Thank you Arroyo Vet! You all rock

Stopped by today for a walk in for my two dogs. They were able to squeeze me in. The front and the Waiting room was very clean . Customers were so sweet and friendly. Front desk was very helpful. We have been using this vet for about 2 years for both dogs and I recommended my parents to use them for their cat, and they did. I called this morning to see if they could see my sick dog, throwing up and diarrhea. They said they had an opening at 2pm. My husband got there and checked in. He was told to wait in the car. It was 102degrees outside. He sat on the bench in the shade but another car s exhaust was too much to take. He went back in to see how long before they would be seen. They said 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. He has been sitting in the car for an hour. They said it was their policy for walk ins to wait outside. I thought an opening was an appointment. So, please understand an opening is not an appointment. If we had known we were really a walk in and that we were going to have to wait an hour and a half in the heat we would have brought water, ice, lawn chair and an umbrella. We would have been more prepared. I understand not mixing sick animals with well animals. Let us make a suggestion. Build a covering of some sort west of you building in that grassy area that has outdoor ceiling fans, benches and a dog water fountain.

I wish sick visits were more readily available --- especially for families who have been patients for years. Walk-in appointments are given, yet it was not really an appointment when you wait 2 hours. I asked for a normal appointment and always get the reply of we dont have anything for two weeks, even for established patients. Love the staff and doctor, but it is getting harder and harder to watch a sick kitty wait weeks with no relief. Ive even asked for a sort of telehealth visit for the eye ointment, but offer nothing like that. Hate seeing fur baby in pain.

I was recommended to this clinic by Donjas Rescue Team, and Im so glad I gave them a chance, Dr. Mitchell was super sweet as well as all her staff. Appointments are spread out, however, they are willing to work with you. Prices are average compared to other clinics around the area. They are now officially my dogs leading health clinic. The reason, you get to see DoctorsVet (nice) here and the staff answers the phones unlike the Country Vet you can not leave a message because lines are full. So ridiculously! At Arroyo A Young lady by the name of Valerie was such a kind , patient and caring person with my dog Rue. She explain everything in detail verbally and in writing what my dog was tested for. Absolutely terrible. My 14 yo dog is in pain and they refuse to refill his meds because hes due for vaccines, as if thatll change the pain meds or something. They just wanted more money from me instead of careing about the pet. The bottle literally says refill as needed and the doc told me to come and get them refilled that it would be np. Roscoe had a severe itching problem, and Benadryl just wasnt doing the trick. So, I brought him in on Tuesday October 4. Dr. Fults, a travelling veterinarian who serves all over the Valley, had a very warm bedside manner. When she came in to see Roscoe, she just flopped down onto the floor next to him! Anyways, Dr. Fults informed me that Roscoe had been suffering from an allergy so she prescribed a round of Prednisone among meds for other mild maintenance. And now, hes feeling much better and hes back to doing normal dog stuff! Please see my pics! Thanks Doc Fults!! Other than that, I found the staff to be polite, efficient, and caring. Theyre real animal lovers and I witnessed this as I sat in the lobby with my dog. The tech was SO accommodating for Roscoe. She even brought a bowl of water outside for my mutt while we waited for our ride.

Arroyo doesnt charge crazy fees, I was able to go back with my litter for the visit, and there was minimal wait to get in and get seen. The staff was very friendly as well as the vet. I plan to continue taking my litters here for the foreseeable future.

Never had issues with them, till now that they literally stole my deposit, they gave me an appointment for this Friday the 9th which was their mistake and did not give me a follow up call to let me know that the appointment was yesterday, not Friday, first time that they did not give me a follow up call

Dr. Mitchell and staff were all awesome. Took time with my cat and I to answer questions during his first annual exam. I was impressed with the vet tech explaining before my cats temperature was taken that if he seemed stressed or fought it that she would stop (my cat was good about it though).

The office manager at this place not only gives out a bad vibe, but is also rude and non-understanding. I was willing to drive from Mission Tx, which is 50 min from this place because I liked the doctor here. However, I am extremely disappointed with the supposed new policy the manager says has been implemented a year ago. This place does not work with you if you are running late. They will keep your 25$ scheduled fee, no exceptions. If this place now runs this way, how can they understand your fur babies if they cannot understand you. Food for thought!

Been going here for the past 5 years since Ive gotten my two dogs. Its truly the only place Im comfortable taking my little dudes. Super friendly staff, friendly vets, smart techs, great prices, and they handle my pets well. As someone myself who works in the pet industry I know how crazy hectic it can get sometimes and theyre just so good at keeping everything under control, keeping the pets happy & theres never a huge wait time. My cat Simba got sick we took her to a close by home vet and after the visit she still was sick but it almost felt like she came out worse. I took her to Arroyo Vet and the vet Dr. Mitchell did things the other vets weren t doing, they actually checked her right and after they prescribed her medicine the next day she was back to normal/ crazy cat life . I recommend highly! Everyone was sweet and nice.

Extremely rude. The receptionist was very rude to my previous clinic and hung up on them as the clinic called to give them information. Receptionist was rude to me as well. If they treated me and my previous clinic like this I would hate to know how they treat their patients. It s not the not being able to refill medication that was rude.. it was the hanging up on my clinic and speaking in a condescending and manner to me, and the fact that instead of taking responsibility for the rudeness, the blame was placed on me and my clinic.

After 9 years of being a customer at this establishment, I can finally write my review with complete honesty. The past year had been rough with this clinic. Poor appointment/sick day options for current patients as well as the vet losing a fellow doc. It took a toll on both patients and staff. Stress of staff being over worked was apparent. My dog being diagnosed with cancer was the hardest experience Ive ever imagined to go through. Inoperable, my dog was practically in hospice care. The worst part of that was, knowing my dog is going through this progression & the vet showing no compassion for comfort measures. In human healthcare, you care for the patient on hospice with comfort measures. Meaning, keeping them in COMPLETE COMFORT UNTIL they pass. My dog was being given the opposite care. The moment he was having any change, the talk of euthanizing was insued. I resulted to go to Dr. Ram in McAllen to receive the proper comfort care my dog deserved. The time leading up to my dogs passing happend so quickly. I was given no option but to wait till end of the week to euthanize. Due to vet suddenly leaving early and wont return to see same day sick patients and her canceling same day sick appointments for the following day. (yes I know shes the ONLY DOC & yes she did know the status of my dog at this point) Plain and simple he was suffering. Due to the rapid decline of my dog, I resulted in taking him else where, as a walk in for euthanasia. Altas Palmas was willing to see him same day within an hr. Where as this clinic couldnt see him until his scheduled time of 3pm due to being full. And thats because my dog was a CURRENT PATIENT. He suffered at the hand that told me to not let him suffer. With that being said, I hope they (staff and doc) learn to remember why it was they decided to come in to this field of choice. They chose to love and care for animals who have no voice. Please remember to be mindful of the voices of their parents /owners. I truly wish none of you ever experience the heartache Ive dealt with in this clinic. No need to respond to this review. Theres no excuse for it. I will never come here again.

I would give this vets office NO stars if I could. I have been rescuing unwanted dogs from South Texas for years now and bringing them to Michigan to find them good homes. I have used several different TX vets offices to get them the vetting that they needed and never, until recently, come across a vets office as unprofessional as this one is. We had a dog that needed to be treated for heartworm. They did some bloodwork, in which there was an issue causing a delay in treatment. I left several messages for the vet to call me to discuss with no return call. They then worked up an estimate for treatment which I approved. Later, when the time came to do the treatment, they denied the quote saying they gave me the wrong one. I am thinking, how is that my problem? Again I asked to speak to the vet to discuss. Nothing. Even though I had already spent a few hundred dollars at this vets office, I moved the dog to another vets office where I got excellent care and communication. The dog is now treated and will make his way to Michigan! I would NEVER use this vet again for anything!

I had appointment Monday at 9 am I drive 35 minutes to get there and for them to tell me sorry doctor did come in come back tomorrow at 8am.So i drive again today and for my luck they cancel my appointment cause doctor was not feeling well ok I get it she is sick but what happen when I get there late I get charge a walk in fee is that fare for me after I drive 35 one way and 35 mins back for 2 days in a row and for them not to call me or text me . so I told the lady can I get some type of compensation she tells me no thats how we operate here i was like but when Im late right away you charge me extra fee well thats what the doctor wants for us to do .So I tell her you dont value me as a customer I guess they dont appreciate my business

I am rating it five stars because it wouldnt be fair to lower my rating based off of one bad experience. Ive been taking my dog there for years and have never had an unpleasant interaction until today. I love Arroyo Veterinary hospital and the staff(especially Mando)which has always been nice. Dr. Mitchell is the best! Helpful, kind, and professional. However, the front desk/receptionist Abigails tone came off as very sarcastic and unprofessional which I did not appreciate. Hopefully, her demeanor is not the same with other customers.

Update: I will say that Dr. Mitchell is a very professional individual. She treated us with respect even after reading my initial review of her office. She is currently getting my pup on the road to recovery. The original review was based on poor communication between staff. The vet was there and was waiting for us to arrive so that she could assess the situation and remedy it as needed. The only recommendation I can give is for there to be more communication between staff so that issues like these dont happen in the future. Original: My dog has a laceration and a broken paw. Called and was told the vet would see him right away. So we make the drive and now they say we have to wait with our pet in our vehicle until the vet arrives. To top it off they cant say when he will arrive. Thanks a lot for wasting our time Abbigale.

The time that only matters for this clinic is theirs, in order to set up an appointment youre asked to pay a certain amount so they can be sure you arrive, but theyre free to cancel your appointment . The clients time matters too. I called the receptionist there was a huge traffic jam, When I finally arrived to my dogs appointment 15 minutes late They say I have to pay an extra charge because I arrived 20 minutes late, After 40 minutes waiting outside I had to leave. I do not recommend this clinic, not a good costumer service. Ill take my dog somewhere else. BY THE WAY I HAD an appointment for the 21th and you changed it one day before FOR THE 22TH, thats not fair too, I HAD to change a lot my activities so I could be there, and since I paid 25 usd in order to get that appointment I should be considered a client too...my time matters too.

I chose Arroyo Veterinary Hospital (AVH) to care for my 17 year old pet. They had the upmost respect for my dog and I during her treatment. When I had to make the decision to humanely end my pets life AVH was there to help me. I will be returning to AVH for more care should I need it. The staff was friendly and prompt. I was given the option of using curbside or going inside. I opted for curbside because my pup only needed her vaccines and was not sick. It was much more affordable than other vets I have been to and Im glad I went back to Arroyo.
