Cheap homes built crappy. We bought a home in Denton and we continue to find things wrong after 3.5 years. Leaking window from the start that they can t find anything wrong with it window so warped from the leaking and they tel us we need to just Shut it a special way. Should just Shut like the other windows. Cracked tile they won t fix. Wanted to hang a tv mount. Studs are too far apart exceeding the required by law distance. And don t expect any privacy. You can hear and ant poop in the yard the windows are so thin. And I am sure they used crayons markers to paint our house numbers on. House done in December. Numbers washed away by spring. Update: we now decided to do some home improvements. Things are worse than we expected. The wood used behind the drywall is horrible. The pieces aren t whole pieces. They are either pieces together or in some cases rotted along a whole corner. Under the steps what a ton of garbage. Studs used for supporting the half wall around our stairwell aren t even touching the bottom boards. I am shocked and wondering how much they paid the inspector cuz I can t even imagine how this passed inspection. Also the electrical makes no sense for the box. Things aren t labeled and took forever to figure out how to shut off power. We also are concerned at how quickly light bulbs go out and how the lights dim every time I use my printer or air conditioner switches on.

We had made an appointment and when we showed up David the sales person was not there. No one ever called or emailed us to let us know the person that was there in his place had no idea about anything that my wife and I asked about. So we will not be working with this company because if that is the way they treat there potential customers then I would hate to see how they treat there customers that sign up with them.

Do NOT buy a history homemaker in Bozeman! They slap the house together as if it s a doll house and then when the one year warranty is up after having to redo the floor three times in that window they say sorry outside of warranty. As hard as today prices are find yourself a quality builder and when you do please let us know. Honestly it s just sad. This is your home! Put some pride in the building process and not the least expensive labor. Update: have not heard from the warranty department as the response indicated below. And the AC is not working again! 4th time I will have them come out. I spent 2500 dollars last time. I called the warranty department and left a message... If this is happening to any other hard working home owners who are throwing away their money due to being sold a lemon please message me. Maybe if there are enough of us they will HAVE to fix their mistakes.

I have now been in my home for over a year. I am still finding discrepancies and defects to this new home. I would never recommend anyone to buy a home from History Makers. If I could have a do over I would never have sold my last home to move into this mess! Where did they get their contractor and construction workers; off the street. Just did a piss poor job in the construction of this home.

I literally left a review almost a year ago regarding their poor service, particularly the predatory lending practices of them and their preferred lender. They asked me to reach out via Facebook and THEN at that point they would help. I do not have Facebook, so I instead emailed the company directly. Several times I have received the Thank you for visiting our website and reaching out to us online. We have received your message and will respond as soon as possible. Im not sure what their definition of soon as possible is, but I still havent received any kind of response. One of the biggest issues I have is that their lack of professionalism, honesty, and integrity ruined my deal and my entire home buying process. When I tried to get answers and asked additional clarifying questions I was met with threats to cancel my deal. On multiple occasions this was said, somehow I was accused of cancelling the deal and they wouldnt return my initial investment. I was offered to transfer that to another home. I have all of these interactions in text and/or email. Why would that even be the offer if nothing was done wrong? Additionally, after this offer came up, there was NEVER any follow up. There STILL has never been any follow up. 10/10 WOULD NOT recommend History Maker.

We purchased our History Maker home in 2004 this was our first experience building a home. Unfortunately we didnt know all the things to watch out for, boy did we have our eyes opened up. The starting process seemed like it went smoothly picking out the lot,the brick, hardie board color, carpet, doors, cabinets, upgrades and finishes. We opted for several upgrades including having the brick on the whole 1st floor level of our 2 story home. After they poured the slab we noticed they didnt plan properly for the brick in the back and then had to have our fridge water line moved to be inside the house then they had to hand cut to wear the brick would be. We found out what a HUGE mistake that was after moving in and dealing with water coming inside and creating a pond in pur living room everytime we had a rain storm. We upgraded to Tyvek because we werent used to the flimsy cardboard material we saw that they use instead of plywood and we wanted the extra protection, unfortunately they dont know how to install windows or doors with Tyvek or how to seal either. And thats probably because their crews were always changing out either for more money somewhere else or some we found out were for immigration issues so they werent always aware of how to do specific jobs. I was repeatedly coming up to clean up the trash so that they didnt drywall it into the walls in our home the way they did at other homes, or by burying it in the yard with leftover materials like we had observed. They tried to fix squeaking floor boards by screwing multiple screws through our carpet. Installed our french doors improperly that we could only use one door because they nailed shut the other side into the brick. It was so bad the rain came through the base of the door run under our stove and made a pond in our kitchen. Needless to say we had to replace that after only a couple years. They did supply their crews with a portable toilet but if more than one person needed to go they would find a room in the nearby houses under construction and defecate on the floor and cover it with a piece of leftover cardboard they would urinate in the plugged up tubs . They was absolutely no respect of peoples homes they were building. So many problems that we have found and fixed because of their lack of caring and total incompetence!! We would ABSOLUTELY NEVER RECOMMEND HISTORY MAKER HOMES to Anyone!!!

History Maker is TERRIBLE. We bought our house last year and moved in labor day weekend. Since we have moved we have had to put in a warranty request almost every other week. Various problems like slats on fences falling, mold growing under the stairs, dishwasher leak, window leak, doors not closing, AC not set up correctly, some cracking in the patio and MORE. This company ONLY cares about the money and tries to crank these homes out as quickly as possible. Crews drink on the job and leave beer cans and alcohol all over the job site. Each issue we have had would have been easily prevented with a crew that takes pride in their work and pays the slightest bit of attention. Plus, when building- features that SHOULD come standard in a home are upgrades and cost you (garage door openers and ceiling fans for example). DON T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY on their incompetence. Just moved in and already wanting to look for another home.

Warranty people are awful. I had some trim missing from under my kitchen island, was told it would be replaced in a day, and it just now got replaced a month and a half later. The trim wasn t even painted or caulked, and I was told that would be a separate warranty request. We had clogged sewer lines, a flooded backyard, cabinet trim breaking within a week, an oversized amp for our AC unit (fire hazard), shoddy attic ladder that barely fits or opens, and construction wasn t even totally complete when it came time to close. History Maker also switched title companies on us a week before closing, adding further headache and paperwork for us. History Maker makes beautiful homes, but they hire terrible subcontractors.

Builder, beware! I looked to purchase one of their homes, but was put off by their preposterous policy of financing through their own lender. The ladies in charge were unbelievably arrogant, insulting me with some of those lenders out-there give invalid prequalifications, give loans like that.... (Perhaps Im over sensitive, being a U.S.-European citizen, but I felt they were discriminating me...) I liked the European look of the archtecture, was already preapproved, had all I needed... BUT, NO... not via my lender, ... as if I had time to send docuents on top of documents to banks all over again.... So, I turned my head away from their conceited comments, took my money away, and purchased a MOST beautiful similar (better) home, no hassle, comfortable enjyable purchase experience -- ELSEWHERE. Not worth your time and annoyance, the market is full of people who respect clients and of better houses with better greener views.

They show us one house and in contract they write different product names which you never heard of... which is obviously different to what you see... and if you ask for it, they will start showing contract terms that you signed for.

While I didnt need to see every offer I had regarding the purchase of our new home, I could see there were a lot of details HM has available. My host, Nancy, was engaged in my decision making and offered opinions; a refreshing respite from simple order takers that claim no value in shared opinions. Agreeing with her on some, but not all, she never hinted that affirmation or disagreement was an approval or slight. Were in good hands going into the build process. I like the approach HM has for the home buyer. I know whats coming up next, what I should know to consider, and a feeling like Im involved in the process. For the price point, HM hits the nail on the head. Get the customer committed, involve them, and have them engaged in the process...all while theyre desperately waiting for their oasis to be built. It makes ownership a lot more rewarding. Theres a process to building a home, regardless the cookie cutter or customized villa. For the average person, we just wanna be treated like our opinion matters...right or wrong. HM gets it. Amen....lol

We ve bought two History Maker homes and what I will say is they provide a great value. They definitely give you more home for less money . The catch is that you need to be careful about buying in the areas they build in. Typically they are in much less desirable areas with very little or no amenities. Where this builder really hurts you is in re-sell value of your home. The neighborhoods typically can t support the size houses they build so you will take a bath on your price per sq ft. If it s your forever home feel free to save money. If it s something you re looking at getting out of within 7-10 years I d stay away. Spend the extra 20k and go with a builder that will have you in a better area.
