We loved Big Fish until this visit. All good things must come to an end. We live on the east coast but come to eat at Big Fish when visiting relatives in Grapevine. First issue was the combination seafood dinner no longer comes with oysters on half shell. Only with fried oysters. Waiter said it recently changed but menu doesn t address it. Then salads did come with blue cheese as we ordered. So tracked down waiter and he got us blue cheese (tasted like buttermilk ranch instead, very watery). Then the jalapeño soup had no flavor other than very salty. I asked my wife to taste it without commenting on it and she said too salty and bland. She had salmon salad. Normally raves about it but said it was blah tonight. On a positive not the blackened shrimp and catfish were excellent. Maybe we hit them on an off night.

I absolutely love this place! First came here in 2011 and have come back countless times. Whether its the beach party, the clam chowder, the fish and chips, or whatever you want, I have never been upset that I ordered something. I highly recommend this place! And if you like bread pudding, leave yourself room.

I m sure this place has better dishes, I just happened to stumble on the ones that weren t for me. Had the popcorn shrimp and crab cake dinner. For the shrimp, I know vein/deveined shrimp are a personal preference, and mine is definitely deveined. The grittiness is like finding bits of sand in every bite. The ones without the digestive tract were okay with the sauce. The crab cakes were okay. They do not look appealing and felt more like a crab flavored pancake. I wouldn t order them again. The most flavorful thing in the plate was the rice.

The atmosphere was fantastic! The appetizer was delicious along with the sauce as well. I LOVED the drinks as well along with the live music. The only thing I dislike was my meal. It was lacking Spicy Nashville chicken sandwich I had a taste and the mashed potatoes were too dry. Not creamy at all. Even if I was to minus the spice on the chicken sandwich, it lacked a lot of sauce in my opinion. The sever however was great and VERY attentive. I may go back and just try something different.

Was down here for the IRS Tax Forum, and stayed at the Gaylord Resort. Gaylord Resort restaurants are sooo expensive! This friend recommended to head down here and decided to give it a try. And wow!! The food was great and fresh. The taste and everything was out of here. The waiters were very nice as well. The restaurant is small but its so cute! I recommend this place to anyone near Grapevine, Tx.

They tasted off to me personally, they had an odd aftertaste. No one was a fan. The rest of our items were fine. The clam chowder had a good flavor but there wasn t very much actually in it. My experience here was laughable. First and foremost the oysters were not kept to temperature when I bit into them it was warm in the middle. After spitting them out our waitress came took them apologizing.. Frustrating, but I was still happy at this point. I decided to order the shrimp and crab Cajun boil .. When she brought it out and I saw what I was working with I was highly disappointed. It was crab and shrimp boiled in plain water. PLAIN WATER. I cannot make this up. Cooked in Absolutely ZERO seasoning. When asked if this was cooked in plain water. The waitress looked so serious yes ma am, we just boil it in water. I can bring you garlic she proceeds to go in the back and comes back with garlic.. it s Powder! the shrimp were very over cooked and the andouille sausage that was in the mixture was shaven into the tiniest slivers so that too was well over cooked. At this point we just laughed and ate what we could of the mixture. Then left and went to the Tavern at lakeside and enjoyed a meal.

This was our second time visiting after a long time (years ago). We remembered the place to be a good place to eat. This time I was unfortunately disappointed and will not come back. Coming in I thought it smelled extremely fishy. Not sure if that is normal. We went to seafood places before, and never did it smell. The chowder was actually not too bad but reminded me of something that came out of a can (like the consistency of a can of mushrooms or can of chicken). I also ordered the crab cake dinner with pilaf rice and seasoned. Neither my food nor my sons cheeseburger looked appetizing. My sons cheeseburger bun was soggy at the bottom. my husbands fish and chips were okay. Friendly service.

Came here for the first time last weekend. My wife had the crab legs and said they were great. I tried the fish and chips and let me tell you it was very disappointing. The pieces of fish you get with the meal were equivalent to what you would find on a kids menu, and both the fries and fish were overcooked. Also tried the gumbo and crab stuffed mushrooms. The gumbo wasnt seasoned at all. And the mushrooms were pretty disappointing for $16.

Visited after a year later for Crab legs. This place has gone to down down way down. I ordered for Shrimp and Crab legs platter. It came cold with no sides, and no crab cutters/calipers. The waitress serving us disappeared forever. I called other waiter around and requested to get me crab cutters. The kid gave me a weird look. I waited for 15 minutes. Then there was no butter gravy which comes with the platter. Again waited for another 10 minutes. Ridiculous customer service. My family was super unhappy. Ya ll should put a sign outside saying our waiters are all summer job kids and we serve cold with cold beer . That way people don t get their spouses, dates and families expecting for quality food and quality service.

We went to Big Fish for my birthday Sat, we had 7 in our party. Once seated we ordered the mushrooms. They were soggy on the bottom and cold. My daughterand i ordered the 55. Crab meal. A waste. The crab and shrimp were either old or overcooked. The crab legs were bending not cracking. My other two kids ordered the crawfish. They barely ate any of the 3 lbs of crawfish. My daughter said overcooked. It was my 60th birthday my husband paid well over 160. For the meals. Never again

As a former Yankee and raised on northeast seafood, this is the only place I go to for seafood when given the chance. Its the only place I can find with such delicious New England Clam Chowder, wonderfully seasoned food, and they always treat us so well when we come in. I will always be grateful my grandma brought us here many years ago. Its the only place I recommend when someone asks for a seafood place. We may live closer to downtown Fort Worth now but its worth the 30 minute drive!

This is not a flavorful place when it comes to the seafood boil part. It doesnt even smell good when you walk in which shouldve been a sign. Everything else seems fine outside of this. I was shocked when my food was brought to me how I could see the shrimp and crab legs lacked seasoning off sight but I still ate it and gave it a chance. Turned out to be a waste of money and time. Im in my car looking up other seafood places because Im still hungry. If youre ok with your seafood boil having no flavor or dont eat seafood boil then come here. The tvs is good to watch the game but any POC that are looking for a space where there are others this isnt it. I was the only POC there and the only one on the block once I stepped outside.

I ordered the surf & turf- filet with lump crab the lump crab meat was dried up crab meat that looked like it was pulled out of a crab leg. Literally the worst we have ever had & if I could give it negative stars I would. Why would you ever boil crab & crawfish with no seasoning & not warn your customer?!!! Wasted $200

We came on a late Monday night for our anniversary and brought the kids along (preteen & infant). I really wanted oysters & I saw this place had good reviews. We got there at around 8pm which ended up working out because it wasn t busy at all. The restaurant itself has a casual atmosphere & I was satisfied with my order of calamari & oysters. We had a good time & everyone enjoyed their food. The cost is reasonable for a seafood restaurant & not too expensive. It was about $75 for my family of 3 not including tip, mind you I ordered a dozen oysters at market value so I liked the price lol. The young blonde waitress was great too. She kept checking on us & made sure we enjoyed our food. Great customer service & place was clean. I would definitely come back for more oysters in the future & it s good to know I can bring the kids with me too or not Parking: Street parking but on a Monday night there was plenty of parking spots Kid-friendliness: They had a coloring paper & crayons for my big preteen child

The fried pickles are great! Batter is perfect. Perfect crisp. Good ranch. The Louisiana Style Gumbo is NOT good and not Louisiana style. I couldnt even finish it and ended up throwing it away. The shrimp and the chicken are overcooked, it has no flavor/seasoning, and it is very VERY bland. It looked and tasted more like a brown gravy packet than a Louisiana styled roux. The clam chowder is okay. It was super thick though almost like a pudding and barely had any clam and potatoes in it.

My waitress was the same one who watched me stand at the podium waiting for seating. Never addressed me to ask if I had been waited on. Never stopped by my table once my food was delivered to ask how my food came out. I only drove to the restaurant because I was informed over the phone (when I called to inquire) that they served Roughy! So I left one restaurant to dine here! Grapevine apparently was not my best decision in stopping to get a bite to eat! Obviously it lacks diversity My plate was left full. Took a few bites hoping it would eventually appeal to my palette! Might have been the worst fish and chips Ive ever had. The calamari gets two stars. The sauces were not a good choice.I dont think anyone at our table finished their food.. shrimp pasta and something else I cant remember. Maybe the crawfish is okay? But I wont be finding out. Service was pretty dull. the only happy one was one that got us crayons for our daughter. Overall, just really not impressed considering it has 4.5 stars..

Its a great place to eat! The food is great no matter what I get and they have a guy that places music but not so loud that you cant hold a conversation... The staff are very nice and helpful... The place is small but I have never had a problem getting a table quickly.

I feel bad giving less than 5 stars. Makes me wonder if it was just me. Went tonight for hubs birthday. He had raw oysters and a bowl of Gumbo. He really enjoyed both. I had fish & chips with the waffle fries and side salad. The side salad consisted of all tough outside leaves of lettuce.. Big leaves. Ugh! Blue cheese dressing very thin and watery with not much flavor. I didnt finish the salad. The cod could have been tasty had it had some seasoning. I had to salt it and drown it in vinegar. Their version of cocktail sauce(?) was the best part of the meal. Hush puppies were gummy in middle. Waffle fries were just ok. Im sure well probably go back because he likes it, but hopefully Ill be in a better mood. Haha. Please though, wipe off all your condiment bottles and S&P. Not a pleasure to pick up.

Stopped here for lunch while in Grapevine. We started with gumbo and clam chowder. The gumbo had lots of sausage and shrimp with lots of flavor. We had the fish tacos and waffle fries instead of rice pilaf. Grilled tacos were good with nice amount of fish. Waffle fries were hot and crispy. They had lots of specials that we would have tried had we been there for dinner. Also seemed to have decent wine and drink choices. Service was good. We d recommend and come back.

Noisy, small 4 person booths. Menu has variety but limited non seafood options if one has shellfish allergies. Had fish and chips. Chips old fried and not hot fish not hot either. Has persistent fruit flies at our table of four. Native Texan is cool here and fruitflies should not be a part of dining experience. Wont be back. Parking: We had to park on a side street. No parking on street or in lots Wheelchair accessibility: Stair to one level, narrow aisles.

Drunk guy at bar fell out of his barstool and almost hit my young daughter on the way. Thankfully I was signing my check to leave. I immediately moved my family to the front door to sign my check. Instead of the manager apologizing for over serving a visibly intoxicated customer, he gossiped to another server and laughed . Then walked to the front door to stare out the window. So fyi this place may not be a family or neighborhood establishment but instead a bar that needs to monitor over indulging customers past legal alcohol limits with the possibility of sending intoxicated patrons home. By the way , we were on Main Street to celebrate Grapevine s Capital of Christmas. I went to the bartender and told her about what happened and stated that the man did not need to drive home. She stated that she was aware and she was getting him a safe ride home. So hopefully she did and I am hoping he and others safely made it home. The hostess was very nice and attentive plus the server was great. I was not a fan of the food this time. It was better when I have come in the past. Unfortunately, I will not be back or suggest to anyone in the future.

We enjoy Big Fishs atmosphere and feel. It is not overly loud even when full and busy. The menu is largest enough to give options but not to overwhelm. The food is good and dont think we have gotten anything that we didnt like. The service is always good and the staff is friendly. Overall a nice smaller independent restaurant that does a great job of providing a good meal with quality service in a comfortable setting. Parking: Parking can be difficult around this area. There are multiple options but during peak times, it can be a challenge finding an open spot. You will have to walk unless you happen upon an open spot on the street in front of the businesses.

This place is very underrated. Would give it 10 stars if I could. My only complaint is the hostess that did the seating were very disorganized. The seafood was the best I have had in a long time and the best I have had since moving to north texas several years ago.

Great restaurant in the center of Main Street. Excellent prices and great looks place. Our waiter was Carlos, and he was excellent! He kept our drinks filled and our table clear. We each had the combination plater, Blackened catfish, grilled and fried. We also enjoyed your Pecan Pie and cheesecake. I would say your menu could benefit from seasoned homestyle greenbeans.

Shrimps from the shrimp basket were caught the moment they were born. Seriously, smaller than my pinky. Felt I got robbed. Waiter had his thumb in my gumbo when he served it, which made me lose my appetite Ordered a lot but the only thing I could recommend is the fish tacos and those are found anywhere. Id go somewhere else for Cajun food...

I just spoke with the most moronic hostess at this restaurant. I tried to explain using simple and basic English that I needed the bag for my to-go order to be sealed before it s handed over to the courier since I ve had issues with drivers tampering with my food orders in the past. It felt as though I was relaying some sort complex equation to her that was impossible for her to solve. If you re a hostess working at a restaurant you should at the very least have some sort of BASIC knowledge about to-go orders and if you do not have the common sense to transfer the customer to someone who does instead of wasting their time. This hostess should not be answering phones let alone interacting with customers; send her back to training.

Never again! I had blackened salmon while my husband ordered fried catfish. Both UNDERCOOKED. Didnt even have a manager come to the table. This is absolutely unacceptable. The crabcakes were too breaded, and the broccoli was unseasonably. The ONLY reason Im giving a two is because the fried pickles were decent and our friends were pleased with their food.

The food here is absolutely amazing! My husband and I shared their blackened scallops and redfish with a crawfish cream sauce. Everything we had except for one dish was spot on. The only thing we had our entire meal that was subpar was the mashed potatoes. They lacked flavor, seasoning and consistency. BUT seafood was cooked so perfectly I can survive with one side not being very good. My biggest complaint was with the staff. Our waiter was not very friendly, could not remember anything we asked for and gave us attitude occasionally. We had all ordered and received food before we were even offered silverware and he did not take the time to actually count how many of us there were so we received a fraction of what we needed. There was also staff just spacing out on the staircase that we had to go up and down to get to our table. A side note, when you have someone write your specials on the chalk board I recommend having someone else proof read their spelling and writing. Some words were so smudged and tiny and others were not even close to being spelled correctly. Overall the restaurant is really small too and you will feel pretty cramped if its a busy night.
