The park is very well maintained, very large camp sites and covered picnic areas. On line registration was down so called the number and it directed me to someone off site that was not familiar with the camp ground. When checking in, was told there was a $10 dollar fee each day for tow vehicle after we paid over the phone. Trying to enter the park takes forever if you are behind someone registering to enter the grounds even if you have a pass. Once you are in the grounds, it is very nice though.

How much does it cost to enter by bicycle? Not much fun just riding it around my nearby neighborhood. Thanks for the reply that it is free for Grand Prairie residents to enter Loyd park via bike (I didnt see how to reply to your answer). Next time Ill carry my license because i was charged $2 and was not asked for my ID or informed it was free at the front gate.

Was allowed to live on property for 7 months, and paid more then $1500 on entry fee while there. Things got so bad there with the staff that I had to get the director involved. The rangers and the property supervisor made many threats to me and my family. I was told to leave after 14 days. I finally moved and till this day when I go to fish, we get harassed by the ranger, they have a fishing dock that no day use users can fish from. Makes no sense. Also, I fell targeted because of my skin color because we were told to leave but the property supervisor high school friends are still allowed to live there and they have been there for more then 3 years. I know because I reserved 2 campsites across from them for Easter 2 years ago. I feel Paul the property supervisor only wants there to be Caucasian guest there. We offered to work there and was told we couldnt because we have children, and children are not allowed where the workers live, but there are full families living back there with children. Makes no sense. Bought 2 annual passes to enter park and to not be allowed to fish off the crappie dock or the red bridge is crazy and they should just give me back all my money that I have spent there. Be careful when going there to fish.

we booked a cabin for Mother s Day weekend and the experience was very horrible we couldn t enjoy the time together because The park rangers harassed us all day and was rude to us. Seems like they were kind of racist. I don t recommend anybody to go there to spend any time with their family. If you re not white don t go. They harassed us because we were Mexican. They didn t like our music. We were very friendly with everybody, and they just didn t leave us alone The sheets were stained to the bed and they also stop some of my family members from getting in because they said we had too many people there this is unacceptable we paid to have our spot so we should be able to have visitors during the day. It s not like everybody was gonna stay very very horrible these people. Are very bad people and rude and racist

Amazing shady camp and RV spots! Beautiful bike trails were just challenging enough to be extremely fun. Restrooms were clean and the folks are friendly. Loved staying so close to anything you might need while feeling that you are hours away from civilization! Only thing I could say needs improvement is the water temp in the bathroom. The showers and even the sink could hurt someone...too hot and not adjustable. Other than that it was a great weekend away!

Such a nice place to camp! Well maintained park with large campsites each with covered pavilions and fire rings. Hot showers and lots to do. My son enjoyed the playground and would have very much liked the swim area if it werent unavailable due to flooding. Its still an awesome place, though! Camp store up front, two dump stations, and multiple restrooms. Would love to camp here again!

The only thing i would say was negative this visit..was the roads flooding out. Which isnt the parks fault. Its just how it was handled... all one way roads where i was.. so monday morning i was leaving and about a half a mile down the road going towards the exit road with no warning the road ahead was closed and had as it was under water. Being a one way road i then had to reverse half a mile to find a spot to turn around. Luckily i have a class c. I feel there should have been some warning signs or something.. i wonder how people with larger rvs or even trailers had to deal with backing up that much.

Great spot during the week when there are fewer people around. You have to book your RV spot in advance because weekends are hard to come by. Feels like you re away from the city in peace when there. I don t like alot of people jammed pack around me when camping. Although, comparatively there s a good amount of space between each site with lots of trees. Usually, it s just me and a couple of visitors and the dog. I m able to work remotely in peace and take a bike ride on a lunch break with beautiful scenery. The full hookup sites are hard to get for extended days. I downsized from a 36 ft rig with 50 amps to a small C with 30 amps and there are plenty of sites to accommodate me now. The 30amp sites do not have sewer hookup but there are a couple of dump stations on the way out. I m local and keep my coach in storage nearby. So when I m coming home from a long trip and need to dump, they allow you to enter and dump for $5 bucks. That s awesome. Great people who run the park and they are cutting the grass and cleaning consistently each morning. I absolutely recommend this lake. Beware of Coyotes. They re not interested in you but proceed with caution. They like an early morning stroll back to the woods to sleep during the day. This is when I ve spotted them the most. You can hear them howling at night. Never leave your pet tied up outside after dark. My old pup hates being inside so I keep her on a 30 foot leash and watch her while I m working during the day. I left her collar attached to her rope tie out one night and the next morning it was chewed off and no where in sight. The rope was wet where it was chewed. This is also a Great Lake to kayak in. I ve had many wonderful kayak tours around the park. Lots of birds of all sorts, including heron and ducks to enjoy along the way.

Loved the park. Easy access from highway. Cute sites and nice view. Only thing that held me back from 5 stars was the metal prison style toilets. ***Edit*** I have visited this park many times. Here are my thoughts. 1. Cabins are over priced and need work. I had a cabin once that the door was broken to one of the rooms and we couldnt even use that bedroom. The fridge door will not stay shut. And im pretty sure the kitchen sink was leaking the smell was terrible. The office is closed on weekends so you cant get any help!! The cabins are not properly cleaned before the next visitor. The volunteers at the gate have absolutely no say so and the only person that can book an extra day isnt there on the weekends. Seem to me there should be atleast one person there at all times that can book but hey what do I know. Bonus :The rooms should have tvs in them and a table for the porch would be a nice touch. Playground: Nice playground Toilets: Has showers bur toilets are metal not much of a fan Dog-friendliness: Yes Picnic area: Cute picnic areas on each site

Very pretty place to camp, but definitely on the high end for public parks. Youll pay extra for a lake view, & even more for lake front. Its about double to state & COE parks, plus you have to pay for daily parking. Bringing your boat? Paying more. Considering you can hear SH 360 from the campsites, its not as relaxing as others, but I guess it makes it more convenient as well. We live 10 min from the park, so it works for quick getaways when we need to be closer to home, but there are numerous options that provide a similar/better experience for half the cost within an hour of DFW.

We absolutely love this park and have been back 4 times now. I was hesitant to post a good review, because I wanted to keep it low-key, but its awesome. The hiking trails are nicely kept up, and the scenery is second to none. We like how far apart the rv spaces are and each one has a nice little gazebo. The rv spots are paved, not the best, but at least they are paved. Never had any issues with the connections and we always have good wifi within the park. All the people are friendly, both employees and guests. The police patrol through regularly and it gives a nice safe feeling. There is a big grocery and shopping center about 3 miles away, yet you feel like you are super secluded in the park. Lots of wildlife throughout. We will be returning several more times this year.

Ok whatever, but then she giggles and goes yeah we put in in tiny print when you check out. Great. Now Im upset add to that we get to the spot and the breaker box is so bad Im to scared to plug our rig in, so solar it is! This park is not worth the $35 a night for 30 amp and water only.

Arrived dec 8 one day early they were very kind to let us come early great park space between RVs is best we have ever seen very friendly, except when it comes to second vechicle pass $ 75.00 for 15 days, piece of paper with tape. Be very careful not to lose it,better than that take a pic of it. We couldnt find ours and led to an not so friendly discussion with 2 different attendants. Unbelievably they dont record your payment anywere. We found ours which saved us from the threat of paying $ 75.00 again but I would ask for receipt next time. Seems they have problem with computer when comes time to pay for second vechicle so you pay cash,no record of it Leave assumption to you.

Great place to just get away, reconnect with family, and disconnect! Minutes away from civilization for food or coffee. My only negative experience is that because this is a great place for family and friends your campsite neighbors can get loud at night so be prepared to have something to cancel that out especially if you have kiddos who are light sleepers. Even with that I still highly recommend Loyd Park to give you and your family a great time! Playground: The playground was clean and well-maintained so much so it held up to my 250-pound frame. Toilets: The restrooms are clean but be aware if you are a tent camper that the showers have no hot water which is great in the summer but a little cold in the winter. The bathrooms are heated so they are a great place to warm up in case you get really cold but that doesnt really help with a cold shower.

Campsites are great a little tight, if you have a larger camper. There were two issues with this park. The entry process and the vehicle fee. They have two drives in however , if you ve already paid to enter and you want to leave for any reason, you have to wait behind cars that may be going through the whole process of checking in before you can enter. On the weekends, the line can be 10 cars deep so your wait time can take a bit to get back into the park. The other issue is the vehicle fee. Generally you are permitted one vehicle to a camp site, here they make you pay for the site and the vehicle that towed your camper in. It just did not make sense. Positive is Lots of trees which makes it nice, even know the sites are tight for larger campers there is plenty of space between you and your fellow camper.

I stayed on the lake in a tent. Their computer system renders them unable to send confirmation to your email so you best note the confirmation number when making reservations. The park itself is nice but I found the bathhouse to be absolutely disgusting. They dont clean it, they put a piece of aluminum aircraft tape on the roof to keep it from leaking although it still leaks. The shower nozzles all had a tiny stream with luke warm water and no pressure. The fire pit was full of ash and the grill was cracked. You would think that for $50 per night the city would do better. The traffic noise is pretty noticeable but it was really quiet otherwise. Other campers were respectful and quiet. I was thankful for the strict admittance to the park and comfortable leaving things at my campsite unattended. Hopefully they can get those shower houses torn down and rebuilt and it wouldnt be so bad.

Toilets: Not too good as far as clean and accessible. No privacy in shower stalls. All stalls are open. Just not meet the expectations.

Love camping here. Would totally stay here long term if available. Sites just need full hook ups. They do provide electric and water of course and have dump stations. Oh also wifi for movie nights for the kids to wind down would also be awesome but definitely doesnt take away stars for not having wifi. It is camping after all lol friendly staff and friendly campers. Great park and beach area as well. Clean. Safe. And okay showers (some walls need work and showers tend to be too hot or too cold)

They need to get machines for payment entry. These old ladies are too slow! 25 minutes just to drive into a park?!

Wow$20 just to get in the park. Used to be 10 not long ago. Way overpriced. This side is not even a Tx park that you can get into with a state pass. Won t be coming back here. Truly pathetic scalping people to get in.

This is what the swimming area looks like after a lot of rain. Lots of driftwood and trash that washes downstream from the river that feeds the lake. Call them to see if the swimming area is open, if it has recently rained!

Our problem was, no hot showers in the campgrounds. Camping is a fortune--theres a $20 daily charge in addition to the campsite fee--and then the showers are freezing. What the heck.

I appreciate this place more than any place I have access to for an overnight trip. Well maintained. Peaceful. And they have cabins with lake views. And a cool yurt I have yet to try. 2 day rental required. A few trails. Water recreation and golf cart rentals. Want to rent? Better get there early. The store is closed some time between 4 and 5 depending on how busy it is. Kinda not cool but I get it. Dont mind the grumpy old men at the entrance both. They are the greatest, like super friendly, if youre a friendly person Im awful with names but my new buddy working around 5/6pm is just the best and I appreciate all he has done to help out over the past few trips Ive had here. I do miss the online reservations Playground: Awesome playground!!! We love taking our little out to play with the children out here. Its a good place to meet happy families enjoying life together. The kids always get along with each other out here, go figure . Toilets: Super clean showers and toilets. Multiple located throughout the park. And theyre heated in the winter. Dog-friendliness: Pups everywhere. Expect barking in the middle of the night. And NO pups on the BEACH Picnic area: Lots of covered picnic areas and pavilions for small and large groups.

All of the spots around us have big yards with each having its own gazebo covered picnic table. Very big and spread out campground. We picked spot 217 and have a glimpse of the lake through an opening in the trees. They have small trails from each spot through the trees to the lake and our kids loved playing in those trails. Lake bank is clean with low cut grass. Lots of places to fish from the bank. I think next time well try to get spots 209, 211, or 213 to have a better lake view.
