The staff was nice...but too much of the museum was dedicated to a cross dressing man....Id say the first 30% of the museum was interesting....then the rest was all about the crossdresser. Very lame experience

A delightful free museum right downtown in the historic square. Housed in a former bank, this museum features some unique murals and articles on the local history. Very friendly docent willing to be of service. I recommend seeing this museum and then walk on down to the visitor center and get a walking tour map of the historic square. Makes for a fine afternoon. Plan on 15-20 minutes for this museum.

Not the best experience. My friend and me were very excited to visit this museum to hear and see the history of Williamson county, but visiting it we were very disappointed about the little history of Williamson county, no info about the person who was important for county and why the Williamson county was named by him, but too much story about a man from a circus, who used to dress like woman, no connection at all with the history for me, our expectations were a bit different from what we expected from museum especially if you are new in Texas. Anyway we appreciated Ron s attention and we hope that in the future the history of Texas and Williamson county will be represented in museum more deep and authentic, I am sure there are a lot of interesting things to know about Williamson county.

Wow. What a disappointment. I would have thought your claim to fame would have been more than a transgender acrobat from Round Rock. I see what your agenda is here. Way to let down your people. Save your time and skip this woke museum. What a poor representation of this county.

Small but packed with interesting historical exhibits. Has a play area where children can be pioneers. The staff members have interesting stories. On Friday afternoons the museum hosts tours of a courtroom across the street important to the civil rights movement. Ya gotta hear the story of Three Legged Willie! And see his statue...

Its a good place to just go and learn about the area, about the state, and about the world. My one complaint is ... I wish I didnt live 100 miles away from it! (Lets face it though ... That is totally on me. But Ill be moving closer SOON!) While admission is free, there is a donation box. Do yourself a favor - visit it. Then visit other stores around the square.

We popped in to the museum on the advice of an employee at the Thundercloud Sub shop nearby. We happened to arrive at the exact time a tour of the courthouse was leaving. The tour was very interesting and Ron was a wealth of information. We never actually saw much of the museum but the courthouse tour was definitely worth it! The museum and/or tour are both completely free.

My friend and I visited Georgetown on a day trip from out of town recently. The museum is right on the square, so if you are visiting the square, you should take a walk through the museum. We visited on a Saturday, and it wasnt busy, but it was January and a cold, very windy day. The museum is small, but it is located inside an old bank building, has several exhibits and great representation of the history of Williamson county. The staff is very friendly and helpful and greeted us as soon as we walked in. We didnt have any kids with us, but there are some hands-on parts for the kids. There is a gift shop that has hand made items. I got a post card with a photo of the museum to keep as a souvenir and some earrings. While the museum is free to visit, cash donations are welcome and can be placed in the donation box. Cards are accepted at the gift shop though.

This free museum right on the Square in Georgetown offers lots of insights into the history of the area. Several different exhibits are in place about different aspects of the history here, and I enjoyed learning about history I had never known before! They do have restrooms on site and a modest gift shop as well. Overall, its a great place to spend some time learning about the history associated with Georgetown Texas.

Cute little museum. Could use more materials as the book they had in the gift shop offered more insight and photos on this wonderful county. I didnt find the exhibits to be diverse as they spent a LOT of time going over one ethnicity.Regardless of the month it could go more in depth into ALL backgrounds of the settlers of the area, thats just my opinion.

This is a great little museum and its free, so you really cant beat that. Without Covid, I suspect its better with more hands-on experiences and I think they do tours of the Courthouse but not right now. I think I liked best that you can see it was an old bank (ca. 1910.) The ceiling is really cool and you can go in the old vault and see an old cannonball safe. Dont fail to walk all the way back in the hallway to see the photo of Nannie and her wedding gown - thats Texas expression if Ive ever seen one. All in all, a very cool building! And some unique items for sale in the gift shop.

Our county has an outstanding museum, not only on the square in Georgetown but also on the Chisholm Trail in Round Rock. There is no fee for admittance. Stop in and see the wonderful exhibits and interactive history sites. If you have kids, its a must do. There are so many activities and events - make certain you pick up a calendar of upcoming events - there is even a fantastic kids day camp available. In October, the fundraising event is the Cattlemans Ball. I had so much fun last year I cant wait to go again this year! Good food, great music and so much fun. If you have been meaning to make some new friends and get active in your community there is no better place to get started! Members get special invitations to everything you can imagine, from authors lecture series to brunch in the Courthouse for the annual Poppy Festival. If you join any organization, pick this one first. I promise you will enjoy it very much.
