Two little ribs, a small, sliced up sausage link, with fatty brisket that someone cooked at home and brought to the office. It was overpriced, unsmoked/smokeless and tasteless flavored BBQ and sides. There was a fly buzzing around my food as it was being packaged. He probably touched down, I am not sure, I only saw him on the fly up. And finally, after having spent over $24.00 on the vittles, they didnt even put bread, pickles or onion with the plate. SMH!

Went for the first time recently. I was excited that they had jackfruit on the menu. Its rare, as a vegetarian, to be able to go somewhere with out of town friends craving bbq, and not be restricted to bread. FORTUNATELY, staff informed me that the jackfruit is cooked in the same oil as the chicken wings. This makes it NOT vegetarian. Apparently all fried foods are as well. I ended up having mac and cheese, and a side salad. Mac was cold and bland. Salad was fine. Tomato vinaigrette was good. Not sure why they dont sell beer at the food counter. My husband got the jalapeno cheese sausage. He says the flavor was good, but was dry. Jalapeno creamed corn was the highlight. Strongly recommend. He also recommends the fried okra, to non vegetarians. And the heeeeey czech pils was good. Very greatful to the staff for the clarity on preparation. Im not sure why you would go to the trouble of having a seemingly vegetarian option and then preparing it in such a way to negate that. Maybe just dont have one? Not sure if I came on a bad day, but the brisket was so dry and flavorless, even the sauce couldn t save it. The turnip greens and Mac and cheese were cold and flavorless as well. I got the brisket sammich and my niece couldn t even finish 1/4th of it. The only thing that was fresh and good were the side of fries. Very disappointed as the reviews seemed really good. This was on a Friday night for dinner so everything should have been fresh and hot, though. ***Update: I contacted them via their page to see if the owner was actually up to fixing this and nothing was done. Nobody reached back out to me.*** I m not sure what people expect their food and service to be like nowadays, but dry and flavorless food does not deserve business.

Great food but they dont have bbq chicken for my kid. Other than that, love this place. Vegetarian options: They have some items but its a bbq restaurant and theres a chance meat or meat products will end up in your food. Parking: Its in downtown Garlands turn square. Theres street parking right in front of the restaurant which is convenient when they arent busy. Otherwise, theres other parking options behind it and around the square. Kid-friendliness: Not a kid kind of place but you can take them.

Met for dinner with some friends. Counter service with tables inside. Brisket was really good. Side salad was fair. Coleslaw was really good. Prices about $3 less than other places for a plate. Lots of tap beer selection. The water dispenser is also a tap handle at the end of the bar. They serve on a tray with paper and plastic. Fairly noisy atmosphere. Free parking. Located downtown next to the new city park.

Me and my family used to come here years ago but theyve declined in attitude, manners, and food after a bunch of drama went down with previous owners/employees. Recently they posted a promotion video about their birthday event and included someone in their live music showcase who hasnt played there due to mistreatment and falsely advertised hed be there and used his face and brand without his consent. Overall, its a bunch of workers who have no respect for anyone or anything unless its something they can record. The food used to be good but now the brisket has been overly dry and everything else has either been undercooked or overcooked. Save your money and time and go somewhere else, theres better businesses.

You stand in line to order your food which is provided at checkout. The staff was friendly and efficient. There were indoor and outdoor seating options as well as live music. Outside had 3 levels of seating, but levels 2 and 3 were very limited. They also had a good selection of beers and mixed drinks. Prices were average. Parking was a little tricky though and limited as there are many restaurants in the area. I would say this place is family friendly. Ill be back.

Ive been coming here for years, back when I lived in Texas and when I visit. Its slowly declined in quality. The brisket I was served this year was incredibly dry, and the BBQ sauce is in plastic bags now. There are no longer self-serve pickles. The sides were terrible, rubbery mac n cheese and turnip greens with way too much vinegar. I loved to recommend this place in the past. I will no longer be doing so.

Order at the counter in the back. Good selection. Brisket was ok. Fresh pork rinds were pretty good. Sat at the bar. The bartender was way more interested in talking to people at one end than serving beer to me. She rarely looked down the line to see if anyone had an empty glass. Took about ten minutes before I decided to get up and go stand in the middle of the bar to ask for a beer. Second beer I waited about 5 minutes after finishing it, got up again and ordered another beer then closed out. Understand theres probably only 12 seats at the bar so its not like I was hiding. Beers were pretty good unfortunately not going to return due to the service.

My brother wanted barbeque and I found this restaurant was near where I was. I got the turkey and fried okra. It was very delicious and the turkey was not dried out. My dad was also impressed with the restaurant and the quality of the food. I wish they had a soda fountain though but they did sell cans of soda. They had quite a few options for sides as well as meats and a kids menu. Will visit again.

The team in the kitchen do a great job and make great food. The bartenders that I ve met (3-4) bring the score down. Watch your bill closely. I suspected an extra drink was put on my bill a few months ago, then heard a guy debating his bill on my next visit. Last week I visited and as the screen flashed quickly with my order details, I saw that an extra beer had been added to my tab before I ordered a beer. Maybe it s coincidental and accidental. Side note: 20% tip is standard in this country. If the PoS is set up to have quick touch for 18%, 22%, and 25% then don t look smug when I bypass your guilt trip and hit 18%.

This place has great prices, and am abundance of food options. Because of this the food obviously isnt up there with craft bbq. But gotta say for mass produced bbq this is one of the best with a killer venue. NINE sides, smoke full chicken wings tossed and a big platter of nachos. Meat has great flavor and smoke. Just not as moist as most places. Overall I would come back anytime. Best bang for your buck bbq. And great stuff to do in down town. In conclusion Id say this is on par with hutchins Meat wise. (Besides the sausage, sausage was mid) sides were about average.

Our family will be moving to Garland later this year and wanted to check out the newly revitalized downtown area. We opted for dinner and a few beers at Intrinsic and were very impressed. My wife and I split a 2 meat plate with 2x pulled pork (they were out of some meats due to it being an hour before close), creamed corn, and Mac and cheese. The pulled pork and jalapeño creamed corn were outstanding and we enjoyed the beers we sampled (Honey Basil #4, Big I.D (?) #10) very much. This is the first spot in TX I have found that carries a spicy barbecue sauce, which I found to be pretty good. They have daily food specials/happy hour 3-6/brunch offerings/monthly free comedy shows (3rd Wednesday of the month). I also noticed ample seating, a good selection of board games, and we ll be sure to check out their attached beer garden area next visit. Overall, a great experience and I anticipate my wife and I will become regular patrons once we move!

I love that you can order a beer a walk around outside with it! The decor was so unique, the little local gift shelves of nicks knacks for sale was awesome. We ordered brisket, sausage, okra, and beans and it s the best we ve had not to mention stellar pricing! The upstairs observation deck alone is worth a visit to sit and look over downtown. I highly recommend this place whether you want to eat, drink, stay a while, or bring friends/co workers for an outing! And the service was great as well. We hosted a special event dinner at the location in the private room and I have no complaints. It was my first time at the location and the food was amazing. The brisket was fall apart tender and the Mac n cheese was . The lil bread n butter pickles had a lil bite to them and were super tasty as well. Look forward to returning.

Went there for brunch. My wife got the regular BBQ items and I got more of the breakfasty type food. The BBQ items especially both of the burnt ends dishes were really good. The breakfast stuff was just ok. I was a bit disappointed they didnt have coffee available. Theyre is a coffee house near though. I would go there first if your want coffee with your brunch.

Food was tasty, beer was good, but 2 of 4 people in our party got sick and vomited within 12 hours of eating here. We got the platter so we all tried a little bit of everything.

Solid BBQ for much more reasonable prices than the big name joints in Dallas. Food: we got the pitmasters platter (5 meats over a pound in total and 3 good sized sides) for $40, and enjoyed it thoroughly. The ribs were excellent, with very good brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and turkey. Our sides were generous and tasty too, and we enjoyed our corn, beans, and fried okra. Beer: decent house made beer for Dallas prices in the $6-8 range, with stronger beers served in little tulip cups. Service: do not come here to eat if you are in a hurry, as a long line forms for counter order food, with only one guy putting together and plating each order, and one guy floating around the counter and kitchen working the register. A slow and inefficient process that involves a lot of standing around and waiting, especially during busier times. Vibe: old Texas saloon style, with a lot of bricks and wood. Cement floors throughout, and clean enough industrial restrooms with handmade steel counters and a sawed off keg sink. Two unisex bathrooms that back up (wait time) at busy times. Hood: the downtown Garland square is making a comeback, and feels like the right place for this establishment. All in all, a good affordable BBQ experience, well worth the drive.

I came to Intrinsic on a work lunch today and was blown away. Brisket was amazing. The bark and smoke ring were incredible. The coleslaw and jalapeño corn was out of this world! I would come back just for the sides alone! The interior of the restaurant is really cute as well. Food

One of the best briskets Ive ever had along with the jalapeno cheddar sausage. The beers were great and it rotates often. They do a good job of brewing with unique ingredients.

This past Saturday, my wife and I took my father out for lunch, and I was blown away by, what I considered to be, an unusually small portion size relative to the price of the plate. My father ordered a sliced brisket sandwich, and I ordered a sliced brisket plate. In terms of the meat (the plate did come with two sides), I was surprised to see my plate only had 3 small slices of brisket (see picture), whereas his sliced brisket sandwich literally had twice the amount of brisket as my plate. I actually thought it might have been an honest error by the person who sliced the brisket plate, so I showed a picture of the three slices to the manager to see of there might have been a mix-up. Instead, he seemed incredulous to the fact that I was questioning the portion size and made zero effort to rectify the situation. If the expectation is that $14.50 is the intended price for three small pieces of brisket, I do not consider that to be commensurate value. Please note, I have zero issue with the quality of the food. However, I have lived in the DFW area since October 2012, and this was by far the smallest portion of brisket I have received from any BBQ restaurant in the area. I would have expected better given my past positive experiences at this restaurant. Hopefully it was a one-time anomaly and not a downward trend.

Yesterday i ordered a brisket sandwich with extra brisket, when I went home I always check my food. And all the extra brisket was literally extra fat. I will not be ordering anything else from this establishment. I think they are very prejudice because thus is not the first time thus has happened. And we have been staying in downtown Garland for 3yrs now. The only friendly people are the bartenders. And on top of that I shouldve not tip them $5 dollars!!

Where else but downtown Garland Texas can you get the best of both worlds? Great atmosphere, great entertainment and especially great food. Intrinsic offers both. We happened to stop by for a drink and a band was setting up so we stayed to check it out. Was a blast. So we decided the next time we came we would eat dinner there instead. Was not dissatisfied. Was delicious. And the employees? Wow so friendly. Definitely going back for more.

The atmosphere was great. We really loved the location and the fact that there was the playground right across the street for our kids. The beer that we tried was amazing! The only bad thing which really made it unfortunate was the service. The girl that was bartending was really rude and not helpful at all. Kid-friendliness: They allow you to put your beers in plastic cups and go to the park and playground.
