The wife and I had one hell of a good meal. She ordered smothered pork chops Mac n cheese and the greens I ordered a 2 meat plate with meatloaf and ribs with stewed okra and cabbage and I also ordered the fried fish and fried shrimp plate with macaroni and cheese and green beans. Everything was phenomenal, legit the best meal Ive had in about 5 years. Absolutely cannot wait to go back for more. They really know what theyre doing over there. Definitely bring your appetite, I guarantee you wont leave hungry or disappointed. Oh, and I almost forgot ... The warm cornbread muffins to go with it make you wanna slap yo momma, theyre so good!

Came to Galveston for work and was looking for some good soul food. This place definitely fulfilled what I was looking for. Great food, excellent customer service, nice atmosphere, very accommodating. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because they deserve it. Our team had the meatloaf, fish, chicken, and oxtails. Food was fresh and delicious. The veggies were on point too. 10/10. I highly recommend!!!

It was meant to be we were trying to go to a different one originally and they were closed and we wanted soul food. So I googled again and found this place. And I am so glad we did. My husband got the oxtails. I got the fish it was delicious the fish was fresh. It was juicy. I wish they had fried okra, but the mac & cheese was good and so are the green beans. I almost forgot the little cornbread was delicious. We got ours to go. But even the atmosphere inside was nice. Definitely not trying to make this a race thing but I ve been to soul food places and they look at me differently because I m white and my husbands black but everybody in here was super nice and we didn t get any side eyes. So if you wanna be treated like a human and get some damn good food, this is where you need to go 10/10 recommend.

I m sorry. Maybe it was just me but I did not care for it AT ALL. I ate the black eyed peas (a can of Trappey s with jalapeño peppers would ve been better) and some of the mustard greens. I ate a few bites of the rice which by the way was the only thing hot on the plate. One bite of the short ribs. The rest went into the trash.

This is a neighborhood restaurant with huge portions and great local atmosphere. We were in Galveston and wanted something local and not touristy. This was it we were not disappointed. The staff knew everyone that came in and greeted them by name. The menu is small but what they offer is amazing, soul food at its finest , come hungry because the portions are huge.

I ve gone numerous times (a huge plus for working in Galveston). The portions of food is amazing, I only know a handful of grown men who have finished a plate in a single sitting. Now to the food quality, this food right here is nothing short of delicious. The smothered pork chops and the ox tails are perfect. The okra & tomatoes, greens, candy yams, black eyed peas, broccoli rice & cheese all of it remind me of my great grandmothers cooking back in east Texas. Hands down a hidden gem in Galveston.

Are you looking for soul food in Galveston? Allens should be the only name on your mind. My family and I stopped by today on our visit through Galveston and we were astounded by the amount of flavor in the Broccoli Cheese & Rice. Everything tastes homemade and from the heart-- I didnt grow up eating soul food, but it tasted like I had. Nothing makes you feel as at home like good ol home cooking with love. I ordered the dinner plate (1 entree, 2 sides), and got fried chicken, candied yams, and mac & cheese. I gobbled up all my food with delight. I got a peach cobbler too. The desserts are also great and they seem to go in and out in rotation. The staff are all super kind and informative. If I was a local, I would be a dedicated regular. That broccoli cheese & rice is to die for!!!

I let them know I was Celebrating my 48th birthday all week, from 12-07-2021, and Everyday for a week I had been trying a different Black Owned Eatery and the young Queen gave me TWO DESSERTS..., And some extra sides..! Attempted to enter this establishment and was met at the door by an African American gentleman who said that they were closed. The hours on the door advertised that they were open until 7 pm. There was a notice on the door that said, No Mask No Entry. There are still patrons attending this establishment. Recently, Texas passed a voided mandate for Masks. And any establishment who woefully enforces such can be reprimanded with a fine. Just FYI for future reference.
