I haven t eaten the food here but I love getting the Earl grey tea with a shot of almond milk on the side since it is loose leaf. The tea is delicious and I love the artistic atmosphere especially the bound notebooks on the counter with people s art in it. The bartender is wonderful and nice. I highly recommend visiting if you want to relax with a nice drink and enjoy the atmosphere.

Winches do not pinches; for scone and drinking is enjoyed by many from far and near. In kindness and good jest, all is well versed for the best.

Had a yummy iced latte, the lady behind the counter was very nice and helpful about suggesting what they had to offer for my sugar sensitivity. They had just as many, if not more options than starzucks. Great atmosphere too! Lots of free board games and coloring supplies, along with plenty of notices about cool community events, art, and artists! Dietary restrictions: Multiple sugar-free options!

I love going to the Proletariat (the Pro, as my son calls it) to grab bottled root beers and play one of the dozens of games available, but I also love going with friends and having wine and epic conversation in a very welcoming creative atmosphere. Wednesday night Sidewalk Sessions are my fav! Kid-friendliness: Tons of board games, great bottled root beer and always discussion and thought-provoking artwork. The tables are heavy and indestructible for little ones and there are plenty of places to charge a device for the teens.

So much to say! Its a family and pet friendly pub with craft beer, wine and coffee, an art gallery, and a showplace for art activities. Also sponsors a street concert every Wednesday night (originally started during the COVID lockdown, so musicians could safely perform and building residents could attend via their surrounding windows). Theres more but I just suggest every visitor to Galveston experience this unique place themselves.

I adore this place and all the people who run it. And the regulars are definitely kindred spirits! Its always a treat to experience the art on the walls. Everything about The Pro feels like home. The drinks are delicious! I love that you can get a good coffee or a good beer! And ordering from the deli next door is easy peasy. Its a treat to hang out late and experience whatever fun is going on that evening- be it music, fun, or just hanging with the folks there. What a unique spot filled with unique folks!

This establishment embodies what Galveston so desperately needed for so long. Becky has created an amazing community where everyone feels welcomed and encouraged to create, gather and feel apart. The Proletariat is by far the best stop on Art-walk, no question. It s not just a pub with a great selection of beer, wine, seltzers, ciders and awesome bites, it s where you just want to be! Thank you for being there!

This place is the best! The atmosphere and employees are great! They have an awesome beer and wine selection and an array of non alcoholic beverages as well, such as coffee, hot teas, sodas, sparking water etc .pizza and snack options. Wednesday nights around 8:30pm is Sidewalk Sessions. You can grab a drink from the Proletariat and sit in a chair against the building and watch musicians perform across the street. It s a win win! One cool thing about this place is that sits below the artists lofts called NHAL (National Hotel Artist Lofts), housing some of Galvestons most creative community. When you visit the Proletariat make sure you head into the foyer where the restrooms are located. I won t give it away. You have to come see for yourself. It s pretty cool. Cheers!

Review: The Proletariat & Public House: A Sober Haven with a Coffee Twist As a seven-year sober individual, finding a place that caters to a variety of tastes can be challenging. However, The Proletariat & Public House in Galveston has managed to create a unique and inviting space that appeals to both those seeking a vibrant social scene and those who prefer to enjoy a caffeine fix. One of the standout features of The Proletariat is their exceptional coffee selection. Despite the presence of wine, champagne, and other alcoholic beverages, their dedication to crafting exquisite coffees is evident. Whether youre a fan of a classic espresso or prefer a specialty brew, their coffee shines with its rich flavors and expert preparation. Its refreshing to find a place that recognizes the value of a well-crafted cup of joe, even in an environment that offers other tempting libations. The interior of The Proletariat is a sight to behold. With its sophisticated ambiance, it manages to strike a delicate balance between a coffeehouse and a bar. The attention to detail in the design creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming and comfortable, regardless of your beverage preference. For someone like me, who appreciates a tastefully designed space, The Proletariats interior is a treat for the eyes. What sets The Proletariat apart is its diverse range of events throughout the week. From game nights to poetry nights, theres always something happening to keep patrons entertained. The inclusion of live bands playing outside on the sidewalk adds an extra layer of liveliness to the atmosphere. Its a testament to the establishments commitment to fostering a sense of community and providing a space for people to come together. Depending on the time of day, youll find a diverse crowd at The Proletariat. Students can be seen huddled around tables, laptops plugged into outlets conveniently placed in the middle. Some patrons are content with people-watching, while others dress up to enjoy the bar area. Its this eclectic mix of individuals that truly embodies the charm of Galveston, and The Proletariat manages to capture that essence perfectly. One notable aspect of The Proletariat is its extended operating hours. With the establishment open until midnight, it ensures that people can enjoy their favorite beverages and events well into the night. This flexibility is a welcome feature for those who want to relax and unwind after a long day or for those seeking a late-night social gathering spot. In conclusion, The Proletariat & Public House is a gem in Galveston, especially for individuals who appreciate a vibrant yet sober environment. Its dedication to exceptional coffee, combined with a well-designed interior and a diverse range of events, creates a space that appeals to a wide range of tastes. Whether youre a coffee lover, a poetry enthusiast, or simply enjoy the energy of a lively bar scene, The Proletariat is a must-visit destination.

Been coming here since I moved to Galveston in 2019. Its a fantastic place that is really a big part of my Galveston experience. I frequent the place as a place to study. They have both coffee and lots of alcoholic drinks. Its especially a nice place to study on a weekend night when all I want to do is hang with my friends instead. So to keep things spicy, I usually will get a draft deer on a slow Saturday night. The only reason I take a star is because their wifi isn t always the most reliable. This place is also perfect for a hang out with friends or when family come into town. Pro has art exhibits year round that changes about once a month from amazing local artists. They have a large selection of board games as well. Check them out!

Close enough to shops and such to be a welcome break spot during a day out, or a relatively relaxed place for wrap-up-the-evening drinks. Board game selection is a good variety (try dixit!) and the bartenders are chill. And the coffee is quality stuff. Had my first undertow here, and I dream of visiting again and having another.

There are a few reasons MOD Coffeehouse has a line outside versus this place. One of them being customer service. This may be the only place on the island where you get lukewarm chai and cold customer service in 80°F weather in October. Maybe the chai teas were intentionally lukewarm because there werent anymore insulator sleeves? Maybe rude service because we interrupted her convo with her bff? 4 s for the community space and artwork

I m not one to complain but when it comes to treating people with respect, she completely lacked that. We were planning on staying for a few drinks but decided to take our business elsewhere. Great spot to enjoy a drink, coffee, beer, wine...with a friendly crowd and good staff. Shannon took care of us and we enjoyed the snacks. Adults, kids, doggies, all are welcome it seems. Will definitely return

I love this place because of the vegan options. Lots of non-dairy options for coffee and a small vegan menu for food. Friendly people and a cozy spot to hang out at.

Went in a Saturday night. They had a art event going on upstairs. It was busy & a fun time. Had some good coffee drinks. Ordered a slice of pizza but it came out a little soggy. Overall it was a good time.
