I took my son for a quick dinner to Kotta. We love supporting our local restaurants but if your children have any sort of allergies, I would recommend you avoid this restaurant. My son doesn t have issues with fish but has severe shellfish allergies and we enjoy sushi on a regular cadence and haven t had an issue with cross contamination. I was very explicit with the wait staff of his allergies before placing our dinner order. But this evening my son ordered his usual (just at a new restaurant) and ended up experiencing anaphylactic systems. Obviously there was cross contamination and I explained to the waiter I needed the bill immediately so I could pay, epi my son and rush my son to the hospital. The waiter took an inordinate amount of time to bring the bill and walked off without taking the payment. I had to find the restaurant manager to pay the bill and when I explained to both the manager and waiter that if someone is experiencing an anaphylactic reaction, there needs to be a sense of urgency in doing the needful I.e. getting the bill, processing the payment, they shrugged me off. I don t think they understood what it actually means to be experiencing an allergic reaction and the waiter proceeded to tell me he s not a paramedic and it s not his problem. I have to say, I was infuriated by not only the lack of empathy but his insensitive response. The restaurant didn t apologize for this incident and needless to say I ve had mediocre restaurant experiences but not only was the sushi subpar at best, they cross contaminated my son s food and proceeded to be completely unconcerned and unprofessional. I will not be visiting Kotta again nor would I recommend anyone who has allergies or has children with allergies to visit the restaurant.

We were not that all impressed with Kotto. It was my sons bday and we made it a point to say that when we got there. They said ok. The place doesnt smell like fish, so that is a big bonus and a good sign. They werent that busy when we were there. Only a few tables. Never brought my husbands drink he ordered. The sushi was Ok. Run of the mill. The majority of the rolls to select from have shrimp or crab (imitation crab) in it. So shellfish allergy beware. We also ordered a teriyaki chicken to share. It was OK. Nothing great. When we went to order dessert I reiterated that it was his birthday thinking that they can put a candle in the dessert for him to make it special. What they brough out was so depressing. They brought our fried ice cream dessert (which was probably the best thing on the menu) with PLASTIC SPOONS! haha. They noted that they were running low on silverware and dropped the check immediately following the dessert. Quite frankly, its overpriced for the poor quality of food and ok service.

Firstly, the manager or whoever was in charge of the floor administration that day was sorta rude and completely leaning towards favoritism as he almost sat someone else before us just because he knew them. Secondly the staff was good, the servers are doing their job and being diligent. I will say the kitchen was a little busy and maybe that s what took so long but it was a little tiring waiting for food. atmosphere was good, I enjoy always coming in and seeing the wonderful set up as well as the dim light but there is a trouble where to stand when waiting to be seated. I like the dim lighting it really sets the tone. Maybe just being nicer ? And more welcoming ? My husband did not really enjoy the kota Tower because it was not a good combo of cold and cold.

Dined in for lunch and it was great!! Bento box and sushi s were so tasty and fresh. Service was quick and attentive, my waters were always filled up and they prebussed all our dirty plates when possible. I do miss the oranges they used to serve with the bento boxes though. Highly recommend!

I normally like this place and it had become our go-to sushi place, but I would recommend to stay away on Mondays. Ill shout out to Jini, our waitress, for trying her best. Whoever the chefs are who worked this past Monday April 29, 2024, I would fire immediately. We generally order the happy salmon roll sub regular crab instead of spicy, a chirashi bowl, an order of eel sushi, and then experiment with any specials. This time, we ordered our regular and added a seared skipjack special they had. 1. The skipjack was seared but had no seasoning at all. 2. The Happy salmon roll was made with leftover mini slices of salmon that they must have been saving up for all day, its usually one large piece of salmon used to wrap the crab, this fell apart and it was literally leftover tiny slices of salmon. 3. The chirashi bowl is usually great here and usually with 3 slices of tuna, white tuna, salmon, yellowtail, red snapper, and then many times we have received mackerel, or other fresh fish they have that day, along with shrimp, octopus, and two slices of egg cake. This has always been with nice sized slices of fresh fish. I get it that the chef gets to pick the sashimi that day, but they only provided 2 slices of tuna, 2 slices of white tuna, 2 of salmon, and then the tiniest slices of yellowtail Ive ever seen, no snapper, no shrimp, no other selection of fish, an old piece of octopus(really bad) and they subbed in a scoop of salmon roe. Along with this, most of the fish was pretty old. We complained to our waitress and we saw her back at the chef arguing on our behalf, and both chefs waived their hands for her to leave them alone (it was 8:45pm) as they had already closed their cutting tables. Jini our waitress then took it to her manager who also spoke to the chefs. Ive never seen such disrespect come from a pair of sushi chefs to their management ever. I would have fired them on the spot. Then the poor manager came over and asked us to accept the pitiful chirashi bowl at half price. We then informed the manager that the chefs also never made our eel order, to his credit he made them make it and also offered two additional eel at no charge. Im sure I will be back, but never on a Monday ever again, and if I see those two chefs working, I will promptly leave and go elsewhere.

Excellent sashimi and sushi. We tend to go in the middle of the week as the weekends are very busy and attract a different crowd. We like a more casual, non rushed experience. Service is always good and the patio is very quaint.

My wife and I made a reservation at 8:30 on a Sunday for our one year anniversary, through their reservation app. They seated us at 8:33, then a minute later, what I m assuming was the manager came up and said that they were closing and we couldn t eat there. Then he proceeded to tell me that it was almost 9, when they were closing at 8:36. Incredibly unprofessional, especially following seating us and us planning our night around this reservation. Will not be coming back and would highly recommend you steer clear. Denton has a great sushi place called Blue Ginger and Below 40 Poke in Carrollton is great as well, both places run by good, honest people. Would highly recommend these over this establishment.

Kotta is a great place for terrific food. GM Mr. K is always around, helping out all aspects of the restaurant. The service is wonderful, we always request Leah as our waitress. I have loved Kotta in the past but the recent few times we have gotten to-go orders they have been disappointing to say the least. Today we ordered 2 rolls and a squid salad. One of the rolls we received today was not what we ordered. Please don t even get me started on the squid salad. $9 for 2 bites. I have dined in as well as placed takeout orders for years here and their squid salad portioning has gone way down. Please look at the pictures below and consider sizing your to-go portion the SAME as what it is when you dine in the host was very kind and made sure we had extra sauces and silverware but i definitely should ve checked the boxes before leaving!!!

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with the service. Server forgot 2 appetizers and a roll we put in. When we asked about them he said he just forgot to put them in. Then one of our meals came out 20 minutes before the others so we waited so we could eat together. He apologized for the wait but did not comp any items. We ordered many drinks and dessert and all of it tasted great. When we went to pay for the check, there was an extra charge for a drink that we didnt get a that took another 15 minutes to get resolved after I went up to the hostess. The meal started off on a bad note when we ordered the shelby dumplings panfried and they came out cold, we asked them for hot ones and they gave us back the same plate the dumplings had lost any bits of crispness because they were clearly microwaved. Not really what you would expect when you re spending $100 on a Wednesday in a 1/3rd full restaurant. Anyway the rest of the meal was fine. They definitely had some interesting twists on traditional rolls and I thought the quality of the fish was good, especially the tuna! Ive struggled to find a good sushi spot since moving to the area. Fortunately my neighbors told me about this place so I made my husband take me. We were seated right away but this place does get busy. Despite being busy the staff were all friendly and helpful. The hostess was especially helpful. Im very unhappy regarding the customer service with this place. I placed a to go order and it was inaccurate despite mlthe person who took the order repeating it back to me. I also waited 45 mins bc they didnt realize how busy they were. I added a house salad with my roll. When I called to complain about the incorrect order and wanted my order refunded, they said they would only refund the roll and not the salad since there was nothing wrong with it. And didnt refund the tip from the entire order so I paid $10 for a tiny house salad. Very poor customer service in my opinion and will let my friends and family know not to go to this place. Not what I would expect from a establishment that considers themself a quality dining experience.

I made a reservation through Open Table on Tuesday for a reservation on Saturday at 8:30 and I got a call the same day that they close at 9. When they should have called me the next day after I made the reservation online. We were excited to try this place since there were so many good reviews and people recommended it but after this it leaves a bad taste for us. I already had a babysitter to change the time.

Came here for my birthday with a relatively large group. I called the same day for a reservation and the hostess was able to accommodate us with a some flexibility. The food was incredible and the service was immaculate. I definitely found my new favorite sushi spot. Will be back again many more times!

The food here was amazing! Ive been looking for a good sushi place in Houston and still never found one. My first visit to Frisco and I found amazing sushi and bento boxes! They made my spicy tuna roll perfect! My kids loved their California and shrimp tempura rolls. We also tried their large and regular bento box and it was filled with a lot of great things! Kotta had something for everyones taste! The restaurant look and layout was very nice as well. I gave 4 stars because the wait was extra long before we got our food. Other than that its a tasteful place to have sushi! If only there was one in Houston.

I usually tell people which roll is my favorite but honestly we tried a handful of rolls and we couldnt decide what we liked best bc they were all so good! Fish tastes fresh. They were a little stingy w their wine pours but otherwise highly recommend!

Great atmosphere, service, and food! Our group had a number of dishes and all of them were really good. I got the chefs special of sashimi on rice and loved it. The tuna and octopus in particular were both top notch. Will I be back? Absolutely!

We have been going to Kotta once a week or so for years. Last night they had a new person in the bar. He is HORRIBLE. it took 20 minutes just to get a crown on the rocks and a menu.. Before the menu when we first sat down we ordered a Kotta Tower. 45 minutes later nothing. I complained twice. I never did get to order after an hour We got up and left. We were hungry but the staff looked right through us like we were invisible I also complained to the Manager no results. Its time for a new sushi place unless they replace the idiot behind the bar. We need Johnny back.

It is well known Frisco has been rated #1 Best Place to Live in America, besides weighing factors like housing, health and safety, quality of life, etc. Frisco s culinary scene offers a variety of fantastic options. In our personal experience, this is the first place that is the exception to the rule, when it comes to outstanding service in Frisco restaurants. Great to see places are busier and we are going back to normal, but 1 hour and 20 minutes waiting for a Sushi Roll is undesirable.
