I recently visited the Frisco Library and was thoroughly impressed. The library offers a vast collection of books, digital resources, and multimedia materials, catering to all ages and interests. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, always ready to assist with any queries. The facility itself is modern, clean, and well-organized, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for reading and studying. One of the highlights was seeing Rexy the Dinosaur, which adds a fun and unique touch to the library. Additionally, the study and conference rooms, video production studio, and various labs are fantastic resources for anyone needing a quiet place to work, create content, or engage in hands-on learning. Overall, the Frisco Library is a fantastic community resource that I highly recommend!

We have frequented Frisco library since 2012- it was amazing before and it is even more amazing after the new build!! It is mind blowing that this is a public library. The building itself including the bathrooms are always impeccably maintained and clean. The toddler board book area is so much fun for littles to develop their love of reading. The enclosed play area is on par with indoor play areas that you pay to visit. There is a little area sectioned off for babies, a larger area for younger kids/toddlers, and a STEM area off to the side for older kids. Baby story time is so much fun (it includes play time with toys). Once my son started walking we began going to family story time which is just as awesome! We have made so many friends here and are very grateful to have such a beautiful library in our area.

Fantastic library!! There is so much offered here. In addition to the epic play area for kids, the upper level offers peace and quiet for the older crowd. The tables and study spaces throughout the library are a wonderful addition. Not to mention the visual delights. The library is gorgeous and feels inviting. KIDS SPACE: The kids room has a great play area and some amazing STEM activities, like robotics and coding. There are lots of kits that can be checked out and a gigantic selection of books, all organized well. ADULTS: Upstairs is a computer room with 3d printers. The computers are loaded with software, including the Adobe and Microsoft Suites. There are plenty of rooms and quiet areas for studying. There are kits available to adults as well. Kits include book club, drones, coding, etc. SO MANY THINGS!! In the front corner is a Friends of the Library used book store that had a great selection at great prices. Staff was friendly and helpful.

First time at the @friscolibrary and OMG this is HANDS DOWN the best library Ive ever been to! Such a great place for kids, its like the @thedoseum in San Antonio but F-R-E-E!! I wish we had this library in Forney or any library at all. Love the giant T-rex, babies and toddler area, and the little town for 0-12yr Olds. Its amazing! Its divided into 0-5yr old and 6-12yr old. The 0-5 section has a puppet show, play kitchen, play food, play vet, baby area, and more! The 6- to 12-year-old area has robots, race cars, microscopes, and more!! Such a gift to Frisco and Period! Texas. Every library needs to be like this one!!!! Period!

This is not a quiet library. If you need a quiet place to study/work, there are private rooms. I suggest the upstairs rooms. People do not whisper here. They talk at a normal level. This is more of a community like place for parents, students, and kids. They have a great selection of books/vidoes/audiobooks, events, play areas, kids computers, stem packs, and little tables perfect for little kids. Unfortunately, there are some parents who do not watch or clean up after their kids. So screaming, messes, and books/toys scattered on the floor make it less enjoyable for all. I do not think librarians should be responsible for doing anything about this issue, but parents need to actually parent. Ive had parents talk smack about me as I picked up toys and books that my child didnt mess up, but I do my best to set the best example for my kids. I dont think being a responsible parent should be demoralized. Rather, irresponsible parenting should be questioned. I will not give the location a bad rating for the ignorance of some guests who visit.

The library itself is a beautiful glass and mixed materials building with open low profile book stacks with many seating and study areas. The children s section includes soundproof rooms with hands-on learning rooms with various exhibits highlighting robotics and other STEM venues. The main library floor features the skeleton of a T-Rex towering over librarian pods and modern shelved seating areas. It s a beautiful facility well worth spending time in.

UPDATE May 2024: SO much improvement. The staff at the library has taken steps to limit the noise and encourage parents to have an enriching experience for their children without disturbing everyone else in the library that is working or studying. It still has a more casual and relaxed feel than the libraries I grew up in and I love it! I do wish there was a small cafe available to order drinks or food, but perhaps that will happen down the road. I am also very pleased to see that the parking lot is being expanded. All in all, this is again one of my favorite places to spend a few hours. OLD REVIEW: Not your mommas library. I cant tell you how excited I was for this new space to open and have been following the updates for a year. The grand opening affirmed my expectations of a much bigger space, room to spread out, variety of seating and study options and plenty of user friendly space for electronics. I must admit I was taken aback at the open concept. I waited for several weeks for the crowds to die down and came to study in the upper level quiet room. Minor construction is still being finished so I recognize that it is still a work in progress. And, if I were still a parent of young children, I would be setting up residence. However, I am finding it cold, and quite loud. I can hear the shrieking of the children and I can only imagine how loud the open areas are. I was looking forward to using the booth type seats in the main areas but am reconsidering now. I can hear papers shuffling, people clearing throats, etc all over the enclosed upstairs. All this to say, yes, its beautiful. Its modern and family friendly. Its a community center instead of just a library. If I invest in a pair of noise canceling headphones, perhaps I will enjoy it more.

I want to love this library. I grew up with the previous public library and I was very excited to hear that this one would be opening up. After multiple visits I have to say: it s a chore coming here. Sit tight because this is a long one. (By the way- the staff is great and very attentive. This review is nothing against them. It s the idea behind the library I can t get behind.) This library was not built with all ages in mind. Sure, they do have sections for every age group, and they still have quite a lot of books, but my issue is with how this library was built. Around every corner is a child. It s VERY catered towards kids, which wouldn t be an issue if they wanted to just open up a children s library, but this completely replaces the old one, so where do older folks have to go? Pretty much every adult I saw were actually there for their kids. I am now 21 and I would like to come here between college semesters, but I groan every time I remember how noisy this place is. Even the quiet places aren t immune to the noise. Sure the library is modern and up to date, but it doesn t feel like a library anymore. It feels like a glorified play place with books. I remember as a teen going to the teen section in the old library and loving how quiet and closed off it was from the rest of the building. Now there are kids playing video games upstairs nearby I feel like I can t focus. (I LOVE video games, it s just theres a time and place for them- why are they so close to reading spaces? If you want to brag about how modern your library is, why not have a special video game room? While looking for books upstairs I kept getting distracted by the kids hollering by the games.) I don t mean to sound like an old hag but I can t stand this place and it s open floor plan. The dinosaur is cool I guess? but my entire family used to enjoy going to the old library not for its modern advancements but because it felt like a LIBRARY. It was quiet and everyone was respectful. You could hear a pin drop on the adult floor because it was filled with people like me who needed a special place to work. Now my brother and mom are annoyed of this place as am I, and don t want to come anymore at all. I would rather stay home if I want to study, work, or even - YES - read. I wish I could give this place more, but I just can t. I haven t enjoyed it of the 5-6 times I ve visited. Reading is for everyone, not just children. My advice to you: if you want to come here to do anything other than play, do NOT go on the weekends. But no matter what you do, can t just avoid the noisy kids. They live at this library now.

I love the idea of making the library a more inviting location for citizens of all ages to collaborate, learn and even play, however, it feels like the entire library is now centered towards young children rather than all ages. They ve reduced the quiet area for studying and reading to one small room upstairs. The rest of the building is very open, so all of the library noise travels throughout the whole building. The new building is definitely very pretty but I miss the old library which felt more like it had something for everyone.

The library is a wonderful place, it is clean, modern, and well built. The worst part is the sheer amount of children running around and screaming, which is extremely disruptive in a space intended for studying and working. While I love children, I think screaming kids defeats the entire purpose of a library where people are trying to concentrate and focus on their work. It is almost impossible to have a phone call in the common area due to the noise level. Also, people book rooms and dont show up, its interesting to say the least.

UPDATE 4/9/24: took it down to 2 stars. There is just genuinely no way to study or read comfortably here. The study rooms are always booked but empty, the noise levels are that of an indoor playground, I m keeping a second star because the book selection is much improved, so if you only need the library for checking things out, it s a great resource. I wish I could give it 5 stars, I really do! There is so much to love about the new library. It s modern, spacious, clean, well-staffed, and enticing for little learners. My 9 year old loves coming to the library to do his schoolwork, and I am more than ecstatic to have found a place close by that facilitates homeschooling outside the home. There are portable whiteboards, desks with charging stations, and of course - books! That said, some of the areas just don t seem well thought-out. For example, having a kids play/seating area directly behind the study rooms means that what is supposed to be relatively quiet study time has turned into preschoolers banging on the walls . I m a huge believer in kids belong in public spaces, but I can also make an exception for babies and toddlers screaming out in the open where quite literally any library visitor will be disturbed / distracted by it. Sure, we could bring headphones (and we do), but wearing them in a conference room when I m trying to present and explain things on a whiteboard defeats the purpose. Regardless, my son still asks to go to the library every day so I ll take the win and we ll try to find times and seating areas where the noise isn t quite as pervasive.

WORST LIBRARY EVER! How can you even call this a library? Children are screaming everywhere. If you re trying to read or study here- good luck. Parents leave their children unattended and this place is just a massive playground. It s obvious this library was created for parents to let their children run loose and not for anyone who actually wants to read. The old library was fantastic- it was actually somewhere you could read or work in peace. Creating this new library was a horrible decision. Unless, you re a parent who wants a place to let your toddlers run crazy. If that s the case, this is just the spot for you.

This library is amazing! The giant t-rex and vibrating floor tiles are so fun.The toddler section is set up so that toddlers can pick out a book, read it on the padded couches, and put the books back with no assistance. Great for fostering independence. The play area for the kids is so high quality that it rivals so many play area businesses in the area. The quiet reading room is gorgeous. There is an amazing activity lab with a 3D printer available to patrons. So many great resources for all ages.

Looks more like a daycare than a library to me. Its always full of cars, tons of traffic and no parking spaces. Thats all we got when it was built next door. It should have been put over in the neighborhood where all those children live so they can deal with all of that but glad Im able to not renew my lease and move out here.

This library opened in March 2023 so its brand new. Its very large, and there is lots of open space. Ive never seen a library with a t-rex in it. There is an area by the steps to hang out and read and charge devices, along with a variety of comfy seating options. Throughout the library. There is a makerspace on the second floor that has 3D printers, a vinyl cutter, two laser cutters, and a book printing and binding machine. The lobby by the entrance has meeting/event rooms.

The new library is a void of pain, I grew up here and was an avid reader and went to the library often. It was a homey space with areas for all ages. Spaces to study and sit in quiet, comfortable lighting that didnt strain your eyes! I dearly miss it. This new library is a far cry from what a library should be, it is cold and harsh. It is not an inviting space where I want to spend my time reading or studying. In fact I now avoid going in if I have to. It is a place where children are unattended, they run around screaming. I understand that Frisco is predominantly families with young children, and they wanted this to be a space for them. But they have cast aside what a library needs to be. This is not how the taxes of Frisco should have been spent. Maybe they could have created another space for the kids and keep the old library. The lights burn my eyes and make it hard to actually read in the space. The chairs are uncomfortable and there is very limited quiet spaces. Overall I am extremely disappointed in how Frisco used their budget for this.

***Beware***Patrons of the library - The Frisco library is very quick to send your account to collections if you have overdue items. They did not send a text or call the phone number on file to alert me of an overdue item. If you happen to not check your e-mail about late notices, your account then goes to collections and then there are fines too. You will then receive a phone call from a third party called Unique management services about your fines. You can only get full library privileges after the fine is paid.
