First time to brunch at Cat City grill. Went with two others. One had the steak and mushroom omelet; the other had steak and eggs and I had the chicken and waffles. The eggs in all dishes appeared to be something similar to egg beaters or powdered eggs. The steaks had the appearance and texture of a mechanically tenderized steak from Dollar Tree. Both the steak in the omelet and with the steak and eggs appeared this way. My chicken in the chicken and waffles was bland and almost looked like a chicken patty/breast cut in half and fried. The chicken was juicy and tender, but flavorless. The side of potatoes and corn poblano hash appeared to be frozen potatoes mixed with corn and lightly seasoned. I always try to post something positive about food, but it has been a while since I have left a plate 90% uneaten and for the prices charged I do not feel the food was worth it. The bunch drinks were cheap. If I go back it will just be to sit at the bar. The servers were all nice and checked on us throughout the meal.

This place does not miss and Ive been here a thousand times! They rotate their menu regularly so theres always something fun to try. Some of their cocktails are meh and then others are awesome, but the food is consistently GREAT. Best meatloaf ever. Pomegranate martini is also dangerously good. Service is super nice and you usually dont need a reservation.

I am looking forward to my next visit! We got there right when it opened and was greeted by a nice man. Scout, our waitress, was friendly and attentive. We started with the fried calamari and beef carpaccio. Both were very good. The 12 oz ribeye and the salmon were also delicious. Then we had dessert. We had the apple puff pastry and bread. Low lit atmosphere and clean bathroom. There is parking in the back and scattered pay lots. Great experience.

This was a very special dinner, as both of my daughters, their husbands, my granddaughter and her husband were able to sit down for a meal. Its been years since that has happened. My reservation was at 6pm. My younger daughter and her husband drove me from Olney (about 80 miles away). Older daughter and her husband live in New Braunfels, and my granddaughter and her husband live in Denton. They were very late, due to unexpected traffic. The staff were all so very helpful and kind! Excellent service! The food was top-notch as well. (One little thing: the rolls were hard. I dont know if they were a bit stale? But I still believe that this meal was worthy of a 5-star rating) I will absolutely let my friends know about this Excellent restaurant!

My negative thoughts is one when they demand an 18%. If I get great service, I am more than willing to tip more , if I just get ok or bad service I will tip but just not as much. My second thing is they charge an up charge of 3% just for using a credit card to pay. I could see maybe giving a discount for paying for cash? But to upcharge just for paying with a credit card which is what most people do. No thank you. As you can see by several other reviews the food and service is just OK. There are a lot of other Mom and pop restaurants with better food and service and do not charge for credit card. Or dictate the tip. Will seek out and support those places.

I met a friend here who happens to know the bartender. We were simply minding our business and talking to each other at the bar. Another patron who told us her last name was Bass abruptly starts to interrupt us and shows a keen interest in my friend. She was clearly inebriated however we shrugged it off and my friend and I carried on our conversation. After a short while, the patron would start getting aggressive with me in particular, interrogating me as to how I met my friend. We didnt think much of it but then she began harassing me bluntly. I politely asked the patron to stop harassing me and the bartender became agitated with me while at no point calling out the Karen patron who was clearly harassing me. I got the impression the patron was playing some sort of bigoted nonsense with me. If youre looking to get harassed by a Karen Bass and the staff not calling it out, then this venue is perfect. It was an absolutely disappointing experience at this place.

Waited over an hour for the breakfast special. The special was 3 tacos and potatoes. When they finally arrived, the eggs were clearly pre cooked like hotel eggs. There is no way you ll convince me those tacos had fresh eggs in them. Coffee had grounds floating. Service was great after we complained about how long food was taking, but we were basically ignored before that. Would not recommend. 3 stars because the food is not bad but not good, and over priced.

Everything about this experience was 10/10! Everything from calling to set a reservation, to being greeted and sat, and service throughout the night was so personable and kind. Makiya was such an angel to us and was very attentive (and fun!). We ordered the lobster Mac & cheese as an app, short rib and NY strip as our entrees, and the PB & J Cristo for dessert. Everything hit. All the sides were amazing too! Almost brought me to tears. What a fantastic experience. Well definitely be back to try more things on the menu!

Ordering Chicken fried steak here is a big mistake. After the waitresses told us it was the best thing on the menu 2 of us ordered it. The crust and gravy were good but the meat was so tough and bland that it wasnt edible. There was no seasoning on the meat at all. It was even hard to cut with a knife and definitely too tough to chew. We paid for a full meal but just ate fries, toast and a little crust with gravy. Huge disappointment. Others in tge group liked the patty melt. But the potato soup was not the best. Just cream with potato flavoring, no potatoes in the soup. Then you get your bill and they add a fee for using a credit card without even telling you. So cheap to nickel and dime hidden fees. The prices are high enough that they should cover payment fees and not sneak it in on customers bills. It wasnt a huge amount but seems greedy and deceitful. I wont give them any more business.

I m only giving this place stars because of the friendly and efficient staff. Otherwise, the chicken fried steak is extremely bland, absolutely no flavor. The breading shouldn t slide off the steak, the steak didn t have any kind of flavor to it. No salt, even. The hash is just diced fried potatoes, not the typical hash browns that are usually served around here. They are home fries with corn mixed in??? My dining partner s food was okay, according to him. I will not be frequenting this place. Overpriced for the lack of flavor.

Trey had the Short Rib which you didn t need a knife for, with carrots and mashed potatoes. I had the Beef Stroganoff (also fantastic ) and wound up taking half of it home. Scout was absolutely a joy, and so knowledgeable about the menu, and you can tell she loves that place!! Great experience! Oh! And on Saturday night from 7-9 martinis are $7!!! We went for dinner last weekend. We had a great table by the front window. It had a great ambiance with table cloths, cloth napkins and twinkle lights in the trees outside. The wait staff was efficient and polite. We had a steak with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables and salmon with risotto and glazed carrots. Both entrees were perfectly cooked and delicious with good portions. I loved the glazed carrots however, the risotto and potatoes, while good, were very small portions. Those are some of the most inexpensive items that could have filled the plate a bit more, leaving the customer feeling like they got more for their money. The steak was $37 dollars and we had to pay an extra $6 for a simple side salad. That is included at nearly all other restaurants. I had the lobster bisque. It was $15 if I recall. It was ok but the bisque at Lucille s Bistro was much creamier with a stronger flavor for $9.95. The food is very good and we may go back one day. There are a couple of changes that aren t really expensive that would improve the experience and the feeling like I got a better value for the money spent. Our check for two was around $100. We ate a very similar dinner tonight at Lucille s and also had a dessert for $70.

The corn hash is NOT hash, its like dry home fries with loose corn mixed in it. Food was bland, mimosa was gross (frozen Bellini was okay) Our waitress was sweet (Scout), but one other waitress there seemed like he had a bad attitude when running some hot sauce and extra gravy to us (the hot sauce bottle he gave us was empty). We likely wont be back. There are plenty of other brunch spots nearby that are WAAY better

Id have to say that overall my experience visiting this restaurant was a slight disappointment from the lofty expectations I set. If you are not a drinker then view this review as closer to a 4-star. Heres why: - The cocktail - I hate to be dramatic but this was easily the worst old fashioned I think Ive ever had. It was very watered down, and tasted like a cheap imitation. - The food - the food was great. I got Chicken Fried Steak and both the gravy and the steak, as well as the sides, tasted amazing. - The appetizer - I got Bruschetta which Id have to recommend to the cooking staff to lighten up on the feta. Both of us commented to each other that there was an absurd amount of feta cheese, you could hardly see the bread. Other than that was a solid appetizer. When you eat at a nicer restaurant naturally your expectations are higher. Unfortunately they were not met, but Id be interested in giving it another chance. Will not order a drink next time though.

We moved to Texas in October and I started a long list of restaurants I want to try. Cat city grill was on my list and I saw they had a patio and with the excellent weather today it was absolutely going to be our lunch spot. We were immediately greeted with friendly faces and sat on the patio. I got the fish and chips and my husband got the 505 burger. The fish was seasoned perfectly, the waffle fries were great, the hush puppies were amazing. Everything was outstanding. Service was top notch. Wait time for food was a nonissue and drinks were always refilled. I wish I could give the review a 4.8 because I m a Big Dipper of my food and the tarter sauce was some of the best tarter sauce I ve ever had, but I really like to dip my fries in ranch and unfortunately the ranch did not live up to the 5 stars that I would undoubtedly give this place. If your like me and read the bad reviews before going anywhere, Ill tell you now. The food is NEVER mediocre or sub-par or even under-seasoned. Since this place has opened I have NEVER had a bad experience with the food, staff, price and or customer service. CCG has a special place in my heart as well as my stomach. I will always come back for more.

Food-Cooked to perfection Staff- Awesome and friendly Atmosphere- Homestyle and cute Show me another restaurant where the OWNER doesnt mind running the bar BY HIMSELF.

Bought their certificate on Restaurant.com and then turned down when trying to redeem. Please don t offer these if you re not going to accept them. This was one of our local small businesses. Shame they treat neighborhood patrons this way.

Nicely designed. The atmosphere and service makes it a pleasant place to eat. Theyre reasonably priced, also. I gave 3 stars because, while we enjoyed the visit, the food underperformed. I ordered Salmon Sliders - great pairing of ingredients, but the salmon was overcooked and there was very little aioli, making for a rather dry slider. The waffle fries served with the sliders were delicious however. They were seasoned well and had just the right amount of crisp. Ill visit again, but if the food isnt prepared well again then Im afraid it may become my last trip.

This place has been on my list for a while so my wife and I went for our anniversary. The staff was warm and friendly, but the compliments stop there. I ordered the seared tuna and my wife ordered the chicken fried steak. I took an hour for our food to arrive. I might chop this up to being understaffed, but the table next to us got there steak and chicken fried steak in about 15 minutes. Neither my wife nor I were impressed with the entrees, but decided to give the dessert a try anyhow. I had the lemon cake. The yellow cake was too chewy and kind of lumpy. It tasted like white bread with lemon. My wife banana pudding was mostly just a bunch of bananas. Green bananas. They had a snap to them. Unfortunately, we will not be going back.

We have been talking about going here for a while and finally made a reservation for 6:30 PM Saturday, August 7. It is a bit of a drive so we gave our self a little bit of time to allow for possible traffic. We arrived a few minutes early and took a short walk but it was very hot so we went ahead and went to the restaurant. At the hostess stand there was a woman that we later came to understand was one of the owners. I would have to say that she did not greet us warmly at all, she said nothing, tilted her head and opened her eyes widely looking at us waiting for someone to speak to her. I told her we had a reservation she then made a point to tell us not once, not twice but three times that we were early. Finally, I offered to this woman that we would be happy to leave and return in 15 minutes at our precise reservation time. She then proceeded to tell us she would go ahead and seat us in a manner that made us feel as though someone was doing us a favor. This was really not a great start to our experience and as a sidenote, only two tables have people seated at them at this time, the place was virtually vacant. Our server was perfectly pleasant, we had the fried lobster bites for an appetizer, my husband ordered a steak, my son had the meatloaf and I had the special which was a chicken limone. Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our food, thankfully because this more than made up for the odd behavior of the owner/hostess when we arrived. It appears that this place is struggling because when we left it was around 7:40 PM on a Saturday and very few patrons in the restaurant. If you are in the area, I would suggest you give them a try as the food is quite good. I believe they could do more in terms of specialty cocktails since they do have a full bar and a warm welcoming greeting goes a long way when people walk in to any restaurant especially these days.

Staff seemed very nice, friendly and inviting. I normally always try every place that serves chicken fried steak, ( every restaurant makes it different). One of the things I base my CFS s on is, can it be ate only with a fork? This case....No! Is the gravy, runny, thick and spiced correctly? This case...Yes, No and No. The gravy was possibly made from what they serve at hospitals, cutting down on any flavor at all. Is the Breading edge to edge and cooked into the meat? Or was it a shell for a shriveled piece of tough meat encased inside? In this case....encased tough meat in a breading shell. The Ruben sandwich and both sets of waffle fries were great. Can t hardly mess up potatoes, unless they go cold before getting to the table. This case, they were quite warm and tasty. Recommend this place to someone?.....it d be difficult for me to do so. Good luck Cat City Grill.

OMG. This was the best restaurant I have been to in ages. Pan fried Trout was amazing. Spinach and Wedge salads were excellent. Theo our server will get a return visit. Top notch service. The GM met us at the back door near handicapped parking to let us in, as my mom is elderly so we would not need to walk far. I highly recommend this establishment.

Quaint little restaurant on Magnolia. Wonderful selection of food, Im pretty sure even a picky eater could find something wonderful. My special diet was accommodated and the food was delicious. Nice selection of wines and local beers. Outdoor patio area. Ambient music wasnt overbearing, but awesome selection of music. This is one of those places you could easily overlook in the hustle and bustle of what Magnolia has become, but dont. Its a gem!

Great service. Fries we dried out and burger lacked something to be desired. Bun was not quite toasted enough and had it not been buttered at all it would have been fine but since they attempted it was not buttered enough to crisp or brown. May have been a bad day for the short order chef. Worth giving extra chances though.
