My 90 year old mother was under DHR hospice care & they determined she had a serous wound/back infection. Hospice told me that they made the decision my mom had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. Hospice told my 94 year old dad who can t hear but writing this down to him. Dad agreed. I live in another state so they informed me of this by phone. Hospice called an ambulance & mom went to ER. To my surprise, I called to check on mom in hospital, my mom was sent home after treating a urinary infection. ER did not look at her back. However, the worst part is my mom is bedridden & needs total care & hospice revokes care when patient goes to hospital. DHR hospice then refused to take my mom back leaving my 94 yr old dad without any help during Labor Day upcoming long weekend. This was totally not right for a so called caring organization.

This place is a furnace...literally walked in with my shirt ironed. I sweated so much in the lobby because their ac apparently does not work. I spoke with their charge nurse since no one else like a office manager on site was present. All they could say was that they are sorry, their ac has been checked and that they have come to check it and so on...I told them that was not acceptable. So if you have to wait in their lobby for a patient, ride, etc. You will sweat a storm.

DHR Health Hospice recently provided care to my grandmother. Although my grandmother was only on service for a short time, the team made the process so smooth and were very compassionate. They were available 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns my family had. We received amazing services from the entire team. We appreciate all the guidance that was received during our most difficult time. I would highly recommend DHR Health Hospice to everyone. Thank you DHR Health Hospice!

What was suppose to be comforting, and supportive palliative care for my grandfather ended up being the exact opposite. My grandfather was in their care for 5 days after an 11 year battle with cancer. In the 5 days, he was never set up on oxygen, even though he was in fluid overload, and taking multiple sedatives. The never bathed him, they didn t insert an indwelling Foley catheter, they failed to provide medication education to the family. The Foley catheter, oxygen tank, nasal cannula were left in the packaging. Meaning they charged Medicare for services they never rendered. The morning my grandfather passed, we called the hospice to let them know my grandfather was deteriorating. They took 3 hours to show, by then my grandfather was gone. When the nurse arrived I told her I took her too long to show up. Her response, it s pointless now. I wrote their grievance department asking for performance improvement process changes, and a small compensatory amount for my grandmother. After their investigation they deemed no wrong doing on behalf of their staff. I had even sent them pictures of the packaged supplies left behind. I also wrote Alonzo Cantu an email to express my concerns since he is the owner and representative of the community, however I got no response. If you want your family treated with dignity and respect and supportive end-of-life care, choose another agency. My grandfather did not deserve to go like this, uncomfortable, hypoxic and in pain. How according, DHR, after all that was billed to his Medicare for services unfulfilled. -Ruby Sandoval, RN, BSN.
