I understand the reviews. Ive tried to look over the owners attitude after wanting to try the food for over 5 months. Spend your money everywhere else because its not worth the attitude you get. If you ask whats popular theyre going to say everything it all sales. Keep your money, or else youll regret it. $25 for a dozen of Tamales!!!??? Ill go without

I ve tried to eat there 3 times and each time it s been a different excuse. I just left from them because I was told it was going to take an hour to get my food because they are on break. Previously I ordered over the phone and when I arrived to get my food it wasn t even made. They said it would take 20 mins so I left and before I left home to go get my order I called again to make sure they had it ready and get this the phone was DISCONNECTED. This place is dead to me and it s sad because the food looks good

Went there on 5/17/24 anticipating on trying the Birria Tacos. The lady working there saw me at the counter and asked, Did I need sumthin? I knew right then it was a Hell Naw for me. A Hello or maybe, May I help you would have been professionally nice! Maybe I was asking too much!? After reading others Google Reviews regarding the rudeness and food quality,,, I havent missed anything and glad I didnt waste my dollars there!

I came there for 4 birra tacos, my tacos were very soggy!!! I didn t get the option to have my sauce on the side or whether I wanted to dip it myself. The tacos were not good due to it being poorly put together. I wanted a refund so bad but I support black owned businesses. Have a blessed day.

The food is good, but the quality of service can be better like cleaning off the paper plates before sending them out, providing utensils & napkins, and draining some of the juice from the tacos. Maybe some hired help would be a good idea.

Reasons to check them out... their local, black-owned, and the food is good! Ive been here twice now; the first time I ordered birria tacos and the second time I got birria nachos. The birria nachos and tacos are mouthwatering, theyre so full of flavor!

I wanted to try the tamales after a friend said they recommended the tamales. I wanted to support but the tamales are not what I expected at all. Not sure what kind of seasonings were used and there were bones all throughout the tamales. Also some of the tamales barely had any masa in them. Highly disappointed!!!! Also disappointed in having to preorder and then come back the next day to pick up.

After our experience, we wondered how this restaurant had 4.5 stars. This restaurant should not be in business after serving the food to my wife and I. We love the Desoto Market and most of the businesses in there. We didn t ever patronize this business because the owner s attitude is horrible and I didn t understand having to preorder tamales for the next day. We decided we would look past her attitude because we like to support small businesses and we preordered beef tamales for the next day after 2. When we got there the next day after 2 to pick our order up, I was told by the owner that she accidentally marked us down for chicken and immediately offered a refund like that was the answer. We have driven back here now for the second time and we want what we ordered not a refund. A refund could have been given over the phone. We opted to take the chicken because we were hungry and planned on eating them for lunch. The owner proceeded to tell me that they were coming hot off the grill so I would need to be careful because they are hot and to let them cool down first. When we opened up the tamales and saw this mush, we were pissed. Now here we are driving back for a third time only for the owner to say oh it s ok I ll give you a refund, I told you they were hot and that you need to let them cool to set?!?! What??? My family has cooked tamales as a tradition during Christmas forever, I know what a tamale is supposed to look like and this ain t it!! We left hungry with no food and had to wait 3-5 days for our money back. Don t make the same mistake we did and try this place out!!! We will be back to the Desoto Market for sure but we will not ever give this place our business ever again!! We recommend you don t either!!!

RUDE with all caps. I guess the lady was tired because it appears that she is running a 1 woman shop. This was my 1st and last visit. I order 2 birria tacos with the plan of ordering more if they were good. What makes birria tacos is the dipping sauce that comes with them and normally automatically comes with the tacos. This lady charges an extra $1 for it. I didnt find this out until after I had paid for my food. She tells me that it on the sign. I look at the sign and its in Spanish. I dont speak Spanish so how would I know that and the rest of the menu is basically in English. This is why its hard to support our locally owned neighborhood establishments because our customer service is lacking. On top of that they are overpriced miniature tacos that dont even appear to have been fried in the birria sauce. If I could have gave a negative zero, I would have. I see why she has a English no refund sign. Because Im sure a lot of people want their money back once they see those baby tacos and her rude attitude.

I m not sure if the lady who works there is the owner or not but she s entirely too rude to be running a business where customers are involved. We even witnessed her being rude to another customer while waiting. Not only was she rude but we were missing an item from our order and had to wait longer. Take your money where it s appreciated because it s definitely not here. Just because a business is black owned doesn t mean they deserve or want support! She acted as if she didn t want to be there!

I rarely leave reviews, but these jerk and beef birria tacos and the southwest egg rolls are delicious! I tried a sample one day of the egg roll while picking up my daughter from getting her hair braided on a Wednesday. I couldnt stop thinking about that egg roll, so I went back on Saturday just for that and Im so glad I did! Everything was so good!

Wonderful place to eat. The owner is amazing at what she does also. We love your tamales! She takes orders a day in advance. THAT is how great they are. SN: Do not use Google to place a pick up or deliver order. She does not accept orders this way and it is a scam.

Tried these after someone posted on Instagram. He wasnt lying. Lol. Get there early though for the best selection. Had the beef brirra tacos. I know that name is wrong but I cant remember the correct name. Will definitely go early next time. Good food Vegetarian options: They have vegan (the horror. Lol) tacos too.

Today, 1/21/2023, was my first time here. The wait was about 20-30 min, but everything is cooked to order and it was only 1 person taking orders and cooking. I got the southwest egg rolls and chicken birria and beef birria. The food was good...lots of flavor, but she didnt give me the sauce that comes with the birria, therefore, I didnt get the full experience :(. I would go back, but definitely gotta check my order before I leave.

This was my first time to place an order for tamales with this business, and not familiar with the order process. I called and spoke to someone (female) who answered the phone, placed my order & set up a pick up time. I was not given the option to pre-pay. I get to the place a little after the time I scheduled, to be met with confusing looks - no, hello how can I help you. After looking in her order book, the female tells me sorry, the food is first come first served. So why be given the option to pre-order if thats the case? I wasnt advised of that when I placed the order.. This business should provide better instructions rregarding call-in orders.

Ive never had the tacos but Ive bought tamales a few times. The Chicken and Pork taste AMAZING, the vegan bean are a bit salty. My experience is the tamale sizing is suuuupppeerrrrr inconsistent. Some are big some are really small, some have a healthy amount of meat filling and others barely any. For the creator I recommend choosing a size and using scoopers to create some consistency. Id rather pay a dollar or two more for large tamales than to have 4 small and 2 large in my order. Overall great flavor!
