Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very bad. I wanted to order an individual portion of paella, but I was informed that they only sell two portions on weekends. Despite my doubts, I decided to buy the two-person portion, trusting the positive reviews. However, the food was unpleasant and far below my expectations. The only positive aspect was the service from the waitress, who was kind and helpful. Overall, I cannot recommend this place. I wish I could give it 0 stars.

The sangria is Stunning as is the Spanish vermouth. There s a paid parking lot right next door and it s right off N Zang so you won t get caught in any Bishop Arts Uber jams

With a 4.8 average review on Google, we went in expecting some decent tapas. The place looks nice, the music and decor is fine. The people were nice but the service was very slow. We ordered three dishes: the ham croquettes (delicious, but very little ham,); the cuttlefish (maybe I was wrong assuming it would be like calamari... It was tasty, but tough and rubbery,); and the seared prawns (the prawns tasted old and rank to the point that Im off food altogether until tomorrow.) Maybe it was my mistake coming in on a Sunday afternoon, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Maybe theyre popular for the drink specials? I dont know. Probably not a bad place, based on other opinions, but didnt deliver for us. Wont be back.

The atmosphere of this place was really nice and the service from the staff was good too. Although the staff was upfront about it, the paellas do take a really long time to make, and especially for that wait, honestly really dont taste that good at all. Our table shared two of the seafood ones and they just had a very unpleasant fishy taste. I am not sure if that is how seafood paellas are intended to be, but for me, well prepared seafood dishes always mask that classic fishy taste. And definitely dont get the black ink one: it makes you lips black and... lets just it also stays in your system for a day. The cheesecake tastes very basic and plain and is nothing special at all. The big shrimp they put on top of one of the paellas did taste good though.

Awesome little find for us. We came from Justin, Texas to drop our daughter off at the Texas Theatre and decide to Google a place for dinner. Your reviews were awesome so we thought we would give it a try. The cuisine is spot on for Spanish cuisine. Viki and Mario were excellent front end staff. Please open this restaurant in Fort Worth!!!

Sketches of Spain serves a variety of food inspired mostly (but not solely) by Northern Spanish cuisine, including pintxos and Basque-style cheesecake. Several paellas are also available and everything is designed to share. We had a party of 5 and there was someone who liked everything we ordered. Perhaps with the exception of the sangria - the fruit was mostly pear which seemed odd for sangria. Some people might like it but not our favorite. It would have been nice if the server had told us which of the chefs choice pintxos he had brought, but that wasnt a huge deal because he told us when we asked. There was a paid parking conveniently located lot across the street.

Seriously unremarkable food. Paella was very disappointing. Undercooked rice, weak flavors... also they wont let you order 1 serving paella even though its on the menu... apparently chef was too busy so they said we had to order minimum 2 servings... Server was also distracted the whole time. Walked away in the middle of taking our order which was bizarre. Definitely not a 4.8 star restaurant and not worth the price.

Been wanting to try this place out and it did not disappoint! Super well done and cute on the inside. All the staff we encountered were very nice and super helpful. The tapas were excellent! Exceeded expectations. Great happy hour deals on drinks (awesome sangria for $8). Paella was our least fav dish of the meal but overall loved everything - and also appreciated that they wanted honest feedback on the food. Wednesday nights they have a great industry night (includes hospitality people, teachers, etc). Recommend: patatas bravas, eggplant, croquettes, shrimp, basque cheesecake, sangria.

The tapas are decent size, reasonably priced and delicious! We typically love to sit at the bar and enjoy Spanish red wine. Update: have been coming here repeatedly and I still love it! Most recently tried the black cuttle ink paella and secreto paella best in town. Their sangria is also unmatched.

Spanish Ham Croquettes = Delicious. Filled with really tasty, creamy cheese. Boquerones = I got my friend who doesnt like fish to love these anchovies. The olive oil is divine. I think I will always order these. Spanish Tortilla = Tasted like an average quiche. Nothing special. Spanish Cheesecake = Fantastic blend of pound cake and cheesecake. Parking: Expect to drive around the neighborhood looking for a parking place. The streets are narrow and houses surround the restaurant.

I went yesterday for dinner and the waiters left my partner and me extremely inattentive despite there being only 4 tables in the restaurant. We waited more than 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. The food took longer to come out than expected and I had to go into the establishment to ask for more dishes. When the ticket arrived, thank goodness I checked it because they had included drinks from another table... I asked the waiter for salsa brava to take away, he said yes and never gave it to me. In short, yesterdays experience was quite bad to be honest.

Giving 4 stars for the system, but the service gets a 3. I wish the wait staff had asked us if this was our first time dining with them. It was our first time, and we felt rushed by the staff to figure out what we wanted or how we should order, with no information offered to us. This is common practice at other establishments in Dallas with similar price points that offer a unique and elevated dining experience. Since the menu was all digital, they could add more helpful information about all food dishes and wines. The photographs were helpful, but the meatball picture is inaccurate, as it came out with a dark brown sauce instead of a light-colored sauce in the photo on the menu. We had to point to the kitchen counter display at the bar seating and ask about something we saw that wasnt on the menu another shortfall in the service we received. If you have things available that arent listed on your menu, it should be the servers responsibility to tell us about them. Had we not been seated in that part of the restaurant, we would have never known that dish was even available. The menu gave very brief descriptions of the menu items, and it would have been helpful (and more welcoming) to have some guidance from the server. The wine list provided names of wines but no descriptions of the wines; this would have been helpful. Instead, I had to google to see which Id prefer.

We celebrated a birthday at this Spanish restaurant on a Saturday. We had tapas (pincho plate $16, ham croquette $15, bravas $10) as well as the Black ($44/small pan, supposedly 2 persons??) and Secreto ( $44/small pan) paella. We really wanted this restaurant to be good, but it was not good. The food is easy Spanish kitchen that is supposedly working/middle class food. Nothing fancy. Cons: No free parking. Too expensive and the quality of the food was too low. The service was also not appropriate for the price. Wrong paella delivered, led to a wait time of 30 min extra. Pros: Online reservation was easy. Interior design is good. There was a small free piece of birthday cake. Music was good. What can be improved: - Reduce prices ($30 per paella pan is tolerable) - Train staff better - Offer free parking at the parking lot across the street The menu can be found here: https://tmt.spotapps.co/contactless-menu/?spot_id=68532&images=yes&accordion=true .

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, and it filled up around 7:30. The restaurant itself is pretty cool and cozy, but I wish I could say the same about the service and food. Our waitress didn t communicate very well - she didn t introduce herself, didn t know that there s a minimum order of 2 people per paella on Fri/Sat nights, didn t swap out dirty plates, etc. We ordered the seared prawns, pincho plate, black paella, and cod. Of the food that we got, the seared prawns and black paella were okay. The pincho plate was served with cold, hard bread, and the cod was unbelievably salty. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I can t see myself coming back

Husband and I came here for Valentines Day, which ended up being an unfortunate decision as the service ruined our experience almost completely. I dont often leave poor reviews, especially when the foods good, but for a restaurant so highly rated (and priced), we expected a reasonably nice time. It was a full house, and it was clear that the staff couldnt manage this. The waiters were obviously stressed and disorganized, commonly serving someone elses food to the wrong table. The mood among them seemed both distant and panicky. Combine their chaos with the guests/tables sitting extremely close together, and we had a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere. We wanted to order one dish at a time so that we could pace ourselves and gauge the portions as they came, but the waiter insisted we order everything up front, because the chef was backlogged. We felt rushed to make our decision because of this. At one point we even chatted with the couple next to us about how unrelaxed it was here. The staff got our drinks incorrect, bringing out only 1 wine serving when we ordered 2, then somehow charged us for 3. Because they had us place our full order upfront, I had asked for dessert to be brought out at the end. Instead, the dessert came right after the appetizer and before the main course, and the server darted off before we could even point out the mistake. It was impossible to flag anyone down for help, in fact. I doubt they would have even noticed if wed gotten up and left. As mentioned, it took an extremely long time for anything to happen. I can understand a good dish needing time to prepare, but we waited around 40 minutes to get out of there after we finished eating, and we spent at least 2 hours there total. The bill took forever to arrive, and then even longer for them to correct the overcharges. They couldnt check us out in a timely manner after that, even. We were treated like afterthoughts and received no apology for the slowness or mistakes. The only reason Im giving it more than 1 star is because the food was genuinely great (we had the lacon, meatballs, and callos - all flavorful and well made). And we would have ordered more if we were allowed to place our orders one by one, rather than all at once. Perhaps this place would be better to visit on a weekday, but Im disinclined to return after the service soured our Valentines. We were so frustrated/tired afterward from the constant waiting and tenseness of the atmosphere that we just turned in for the night. Its a shame because the food is excellent. But avoid like the plague if its busy.

Food poisoning: My SO and I went here for Valentine s Day we got a reservation about a month in advance and arrived on time to be promptly seated in the dining room. We ordered a Elatus wine and incorrectly received sangria (also were charged $12 when on menu it s posted as $8). We proceeded to order prawns, octopus, tapas, Secreto Paella, and Torrija. The prawns were delicious (best in Dallas) and the tapas had a very good flavor but could have been crispy. Octopus was so so and Paella was decent but was small and mostly just rice for 2 people at $56. Desert was delicious. The waiter was kind and appeared to be the only one that spoke English. At the end of our meal he offered a V-Day shot for free which was fun and tasty watermelon shot. All in all the meal was decent, the ambience was very nice, and the service was good. The downside was after. When we arrived my SO and both started feeling bad and were sick for the night into the morning. Not ideal for Valentine s Day. I was really looking forward to Sketches of Spain but have to give it one star due to food poisoning.

All the seafood was very fresh and it occurred to me that the noodles were fully cooked and stuck to the pan making them difficult to eat. The taste wasnt the best either. It was way too salty as a dish. The pork rice was very oily and somewhat different but it was better and tasty. The service was great and atmosphere was ok. The location was way too far and we had to walk all the way. It was miss for me this time. ** Im an emoji Google local guide in DFW areas if you want more reviews, dont forget to follow my account. **

Madre Mia, Sketches of Spain is a hidden gem of Dallas. After years of visiting friends and family in Valencia, Spain, I have always wanted to come back to Spanish food here in the USA. Sketches of Spain is THE MOST Authentic Spanish food and Sangria I have ever found in the United States. The staff are so kind and welcoming, and make it a point to be personable and professional. The atmosphere, the food, the staff, all mirror the beautiful culture I miss most about España. I will be back soon for more tapas, sangria, and paella! Muchas gracias y Felicidades a el hefe de este restaurante. Es hermosa, y siento en casa aqui! (One thing I would add, would be small servings of olives and peanuts in the first moment, just like all the bars and restaurants do in Spain. I think it acclimates the pallet before the food is ready! Just another authentic touch!)

The sauce is so good on the prawns we used bread to soak it up. This was my first time eating paella and I really liked it. For the seafood version, there were small scallops throughout with 2 muscles and a shrimp on top. They had a happy hour so we got drinks. I really liked the house made sangria and my friend picked a wine for her. We did spend right at $100 together but we got 2 starters, 2 drinks each, and a paella to share. I do think it is worth it and I am glad I came. I recommend you try it out. There is parking across the street and it was $7 for 2 hours.

We stopped by for happy hour before a concert in Dallas, and everything was delicious! We had the patatas bravas, The gambas, The baby clams (tellinas), the pork paella and the seafood paella! All were fantastic! My favorites were the pork paella and the gambas. To drink we had the sangria and the agua de Valencia. Both were delicious and powerful. Cant wait to go back!

If you read my previous reviews many from restaurants from Spain we look for flavor in food more than decor or location. Sketches of Spain delivers on truly authentic Spanish food. We ordered patatas bravas, octopus (pulpo a la gallega), prawns (gambas al ajillo), croquetas, cod (bacalao al pil pil), and callos (slightly different than a la madrileña - and quite good). For desert we ordered the torrija which was a very pleasant way to round off the meal. EVERY item was very good, with authentic flavors and I felt as if I were eating in a tapas bar in Madrid or Valencia. Service was very professional and friendly (thanks Jaime!). Needless to say, we will come back again (soon).

I was excited to try this restaurant after seeing so many great reviews. I don t know what was going on last night, but my experience was horrible. We showed up for our 8pm reservation, and my friend and I believe our table was given away and we weren t seated until after 8:20pm, probably closer to 8:30pm if I had to guess. We went to the bar to order drinks and it took over 10 minutes for someone to take our order. The bar wasn t even full. We were convinced our table was given away because they said when we arrived it would only be a few minutes and then we saw someone else get seated. We then had to wait for a booth in the bar area. When we finally got seated, someone came over to take our order quickly, but they d only just given us the QR code for the menu which WE had to request. The whole night it felt like they were operating like a ship without a captain. I asked what kind of cheese they gave on the appetizer plate, and I was only told de oveja . How do you not know what exact type of cheese you re serving on your menu? The octopus wasn t cooked very well, and the secreto was so underwhelming. It s supposed to be one of the most luxurious cuts of meat. We didn t even know who our waiter was the entire evening. A group of people took care of us throughout the night but not a single one introduced themselves or really checked to see how we were doing. I honestly felt uncomfortable with the poor quality of the service. The bartender at one point tried to take my friend s glass of wine away when it still had wine in it. I would have liked to speak to a manager, but it certainly didn t seem like there were any manager types around to discuss the experience with. They brought the check without the drinks from the bar and then tried to add them and I had to tell them we were really late getting seated for them to even consider removing them from the check, when frankly based on what we experienced, we shouldn t have had to deal with in the first place. Avoid this place at all costs. I d rather fly to Madrid, which I ll gladly do anytime, before returning to this place.

Our prawns appetizer was the best item we had. The secreto iberico was so dry, chewy, and tasteless. Also, they ran out of fish of the day red snapper! And even more disappointing, the Paella tasted bad. The rice was burned and the whole thing tasted metallic. The ambience was the best aspect of our visit. Service was good too, with complementary wine for our anniversary. Prices are competitive for the area. All in all, my expectations were high for this place, but it was a sad disappointment. I know Spanish cuisine is not big in Dallas, but even then, this is not the place for it. We will not be back.

Small Spanish restaurant in Bishop Arts District. Menu is not expansive, but everything we tried was outstanding: the tapas, and the paella was the best we have had in Dallas. We had a special paella typical from Alicante region in Spain. Amazing! Great service. Got to meet Iñaki, the chef, very nice gentleman, and he knows his craft. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended!

As a Spanish woman, I can tell you this food tastes like it was cooked at home. The chef (Iñaki) is fantastic!! I am from Valencia and I am very critical of Valencian paella. Iñaki s paellas taste like the one my grandma cooks in the fire. I just keep coming back for more.

This is a very solid Spanish restaurant. If you want a taste of Barcelona in Dallas, I highly recommend this restaurant. I came here for the seafood paella, and I was not disappointed. We also ordered the margarita and I have to tell you they re quite strong and it hit you pretty late. The shrimp is the star of the restaurant. It is excellent and I recommend you save the sauce to put on top of the paella, should you order the paella.

First of all, maybe today was just a bad day because the ac was not working properly. It was slightly cooler inside than outside- outside was over 100 degrees. It was a very cute place but so, so hot. The drinks were excellent (sangria and Agua Valencia). The food however, was just not good. The paella was terrible (very salty and rice undercooked) and the croquettes just ok. The only dish I liked was the zucchini. Im baffled by all the 5 star reviews. I was expecting excellence and rarely give bad reviews, but I was very disappointed today.
