Best dining experience I ve ever had. I would give them 100 stars if I could. Went with a group for my birthday and the attention to detail was unmatched. Our server Jonathan was incredible!!! The level of service is truly the best in Dallas, from a tailored dining experience, to remembering you by name, to folding your napkin and pulling your chair out each and every time, to even noticing we were a little chilly and bringing us all shawls to wear, they did not miss a beat. The ambience and styling of the restaurant was beautiful, and not to mention the food was unbelievably good. I cannot wait to return for another celebration or date night in the future! Thank you!!! The manager, all the staff, chefs, and especially Jonathan made it a wonderful experience.

The hospitality at this restaurant is next level, every single member of the staff went above and beyond to take care of us. They were kind, attentive, and so welcoming! The art of service is rare to find anymore, but the staff here would make Charlie Trotter proud. The food was wonderful, cocktails excellent and they had a great wine list. The bar in the back is the cutest, loved the decor throughout the entire restaurant. Absolute excellence in every corner of the experience, well done!

Really great restaurant and great service. However, the decor in the Mens restroom is distasteful. The walls are covered with pictures of nude woman in compromising positions. I went here with my family and was embarrassed that my Dad had to use that bathroom. I can see what the intent was of making the wallpaper a photo collage of grunge/edgy imagery of woman, however the execution from an artistic standpoint was a miss. It clashes with the caliber of the restaurant and was kinda icky.

The moment we walked in we couldn t stop smiling. From the atmosphere, service, and food; outstanding. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary. We weren t comfortable with the first table, so they kindly moved us. The star of the show was Rome. He knew the menu and sold us. He s service was a just flat out amazing. The manager, very kind man. We had the lamb chops and Branzino; so good. I wish I took pictures but I was just so overwhelmed with joy. Thank you for the great service.

Incredible. Wow. The Charles leaves nothing to be desired because the entire team delivers an experience worthy of the highest praise. I m talking Michelin star status. And in our own backyard! We had the absolute pleasure of dining there tonight and Ariane took the best care of us. Ariane is the ultimate professional at her craft with her recommendations, attention to detail, and personality. And of course, the food was perfectly delicious. We are looking forward to making the Charles a regular special occasion date night spot.

The service here was excellent. Our server Jonathan was to die for he was perfect. He took care of us. He made sure everyone was OK. He escorted us out of the building. He took care of our table. He advised of what we were eating what was in it it was awesome, I ve tried food there that I ve never would have thought I would ve ordered. My boyfriend surprised me by taking me to The Charles for my birthday. I tried to avoid seeing where his GPS was taking us too, but accidentally peeked and I was so excited. Ever since trying Sister a couple of years ago, I d been dying to try The Charles. We valeted and appreciated the attentive service from the start. Not only did the valet staff help me out of the truck, they also held the door to the restaurant open for us. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation, and instead of us having to stand around to wait, we were escorted to their lounge where we enjoyed a cocktail. It was a dimly lit room with a stunning bar. I don t recall the bartender s name but he was great! It was obvious that he was passionate about providing excellent service and he was so creative with his cocktails. Our reservation was running a bit behind, and the bartender called for a manager. Within a few minutes, a manager named EJ walked us right to our table and sent us the squash blossoms on the house to make up for the delay which was so kind and thoughtful. They were delicious by the way! We were greeted immediately by our server, Jill, and she walked us through the specials and explained how their dining works. She was very attentive and patient with me when I couldn t decide on another cocktail. Everything we ordered was out of this world from the tuna carpaccio to the prawn pasta to the lamb chops. And of course, the white chocolate tiramisu was amazing as well! From start to finish, the service, ambiance, and food are all a 10/10 in my book. A huge thanks to our awesome bartender, Jill, and EJ for making my birthday so special!

Had a chance to enjoy this place with a good friend. We ate at the bar towards the back and felt it hit the mark across a number of dimensions: food, service, and environment. There were so many good options on the menu, and a staff that knew the menu well enough to make thoughtful recommendations on sequencing. We also got to speak with the sommelier who helped us stitch together our eclectic food selection with a wonderful bottle of wine (10/10 would recommend speaking with her - so nice and knowledgeable). That brings me to environment - good lighting, intimate vibes. Feels like an inviting place to enjoy time with those that love you and food. Dietary restrictions: Shared that I had a severe food allergy and they took precautions to make sure my meal was safe.

Great experience with this restaurant group. The service at the Charles is truly stellar. They check on you constantly to ensure that all your needs are met. Our toddler wanted an item that was not on the menu and they said they would make it happen. It came out with everything else and when I asked about it they mentioned that they ordered this for her from another restaurant! It was impressive! And they didnt add it to our bill. This was our second time at the Charles and we will go back again. Highly recommended.

I went for a friends birthday and my wife and I tried to order our own food but we were told they can t split checks which shouldn t be a surprise in 2024 because we just don t have the technology to create separate tabs for separate guests. This is a family style restaurant, which based on the size of each plate the families are clearly out of the Grapes of Wrath . The tartare was the best thing I tasted. Everything else tasted as if it were a meal you made based off a recipe you saw on Instagram and just had to try despite missing half of the ingredients but thought that wouldn t matter because who really knows what oregano tastes like anyways. The Diavolo was alright, the sauce was average and the chicken was overcooked, under seasoned, and dry. The potatoes were cooked perfectly which made it even more disappointing that they didn t have any seasoning. No herbs, and you would think we were in a salt shortage with how little salt there was. I could toss salt over my shoulder and have a better seasoned potato. The gnocchi was absurd for the price. For $19 you d expect the low cost family side to be suitable for at least two people or at the very least to be given your own wedge of parmesan. Outside of the food though, everything else was great. The servers were nice and outgoing, the atmosphere was modern upscale , and the valets were quick and efficient. If you aren t a foodie then this would be a great date night spot. For anyone interested in food over atmosphere the scales are tipped heavily in the laters favor.

I wanted to compliment EJ and his team at The Charles for a great dining experience. Hospitality is #1 here and I have not felt service like this anywhere in Dallas. I am a huge fan of Duros concepts and the team here made us feel so welcomed and provided the best attention to detail. Our server was tasked with putting together a meal for us as we know they know all the best items. She flawlessly paired everything well and the dessert was incredible. I love a Berkshire Porkchop and she somehow knew I was hoping that was her selection. It was delicious. Thanks team and we will be back soon!

Looking for a non chain experience in Dallas? Look no further. Hidden in an industrial setting on the edge of the city. This gem has it all and apparently a loyal following. The service was perfect. The type that is there but not invasive. Always anticipating the next action. The cocktails were well prepared - high props to the mango mezcal offering. But the food is the star. Homemade pasta with sauces that are impossible to describe. The olive lemon cake with coconut ice cream is life changing. Will be back.

Incredible family style meal from start to finish. Organizer made an error, booked for our party of 6 for the a restaurant with the same name in another state. No matter, they gladly accommodated us with a minimal wait. Waitress was excellent, the service was splendid from start to finish. The food was equally excellent. Octopus appetizer was best octopus Ive ever had. King Crab Pesto was absolutely delicious. Wonderful experience from start to finish.

The attention to detail here is incredible. From the tip only valet to the staff to the hosts, we were remembered and taken care of! It can definitely be busy and loud during dinner time but no worries, they have a lounge where you can wait and they ll find you when your table is ready :) food was good, the staff was so sweet and welcoming, and the whole experience was great. When we left, the valet remembered us and pulled up our car. Truly a great spot for a caring dining experience. Yes, it can be loud, but it is decorated, cute, delicious, and fabulous :) Parking: Valet parking that is tip only!

We had an amazing first-time experience at The Charles. Great food and excellent service made for a memorable dinner. Keegan, or server, was very attentive as was the other service staff. Every dish was exquisite and well-balanced. We had to wait quite a while to be seated, but our wait in the speak easy bar made the wait very tolerable, as did the free appetizers that were brought out shortly after we were seated. A true dining experience!

This was my first time at this restaurant and it was an amazing experience from the moment we walked in early for our reservations (and they still immediately sat us down) to the last cocktail of the evening. Visited Charles, an upscale Italian restaurant, with a group of friends over the weekend. The place was really packed, but luckily we had a reservation for 10 and got our table around 10:40 PM. The server was nice and attentive, and the food was good, although the portions were quite small. While the ambiance was lively, it was also very noisy, so I wouldnt recommend it for very special occasions where you want to have meaningful conversations. We also tried a few drinks, and I must say, the Manhattan was excellent.Overall, I recommend Charles more for its drinks than its food. We went on a whim for our anniversary last night. They were on point from when we walked in till we left. My wife asked for a dry rose, an expert came and asked for my liquor preferences, and nailed a bottle of wine we loved. Our server, Chris, was perfect. Professional and relatable. We were in Dallas for a wedding and it was my wife s birthday on Friday before the Saturday wedding. I was looking for a unique spot to celebrate. I found the Charles on Google and called them for a reservation. They were fully booked but the hostess mentioned that there may be some bar seating in the back bar on a first come first serve basis. We took a chance and we were promptly seated in the speak easy . Emanuel was our bartender and waiter. We had wine and cocktails and my wife ordered the halibut and I ordered the pot pie of the day which was packed with king crab, veggies and a delicious broth, the shell was delicious. Emanuel comped us a birthday desert and we ordered olive oil cake with coconut ice cream. It was a great dining experience. I highly recommend The Charles!

This is the first food review I ve ever left, and it s because of how unprofessionally we were treated. My colleagues and I wanted to treat ourselves to a more upscale dinner to celebrate the end of the school year during Teacher Appreciation week. However, the air of upscale dining was completely thrown away once we paid for our $300+ meal. We were still drinking the remaining half of our $90 wine when a a man, who was not our server, came over to our table to tell us, Thank you for dining with us. We have SMU families for graduation waiting. Thank you so much. goodnight AND WALKED AWAY. The subtext was so blatantly obvious and delivered in such poor taste. Not only were there 10 types of ways to approach the situation more hospitably, but the SMU family to which he was referring was sat in the 5 extra minutes we took to stay and finish our wine in a rush. So why treat us that way in the first place??? For the price point, presentation, atmosphere, and reputation, this is not at all how guests should be treated. Period.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had in Dallas. It was just me, so I had a seat at the bar. Bar staff were attentive, personable, and great with suggestions. I had the fig & burrata salad to start and the halibut as the main. A person next to me ordered the lemon ricotta gnudi. It looked amazing, so I ordered it as my dessert. Then I was told about the speakeasy so enjoyed a nightcap in that area. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I went to the Charles last night and had the most amazing experience. The service, food, ambiance and drinks were all top notch. Not going to lie, one of the better eating experiences I ve had in dallas. Dinner is served tapas style with small plates that are meant to share. Each plate is roughly 20-30 dollars. We ordered the beef tartar, tuna crudo and oysters for appetizer. All three were so good but we liked the tartar the most. For dinner we ordered the gnudi and the meatballs. Both exceptional dishes. The gnudi is an absolute must. I had the rum spritzer, Italian old fashioned, and a peroni on tap. Food was so good and the service might have been better. No finished plate sat on our table for longer than 1 minute after we finished. Staff was so nice and polite. When we finished dinner we went to the speak easy in the back. I loved the decoration in the hallway to the bathrooms in the speakeasy. You ve gotta see it yourself. 5 stars. All around. Go here. Parking: Free valet. Accepts Zelle for tips.

We came her for our 5 year anniversary. Our server was Rosie, she was absolutely amazing. Her recommendations were spot on and she crafted us a custom dining experience taking us through a balanced food journey. We started with raw items: Spanish Mackeral Crudo and the delightful charred octopus. Next we were greeted with the Veal Cappelloni (amazing and not too overwhelming in cream) and the Blue Crab Buccatini (perfectly balanced and delicious sweet Blue Crab). Finally for our main, we had the Pork Secreto which was delicious and hearty. We finished our dinner with the white chocolate tiramisu (the cherry complements the tiramisu perfectly). Rosie was kind enough to provide us with complimentary pours of Prosecco. She made our dinner special for sure !!!!

Was very excited to go to this restaurant. However, we were disappointed. The food was average at best. The gnocchi dish was described as having guanciale and there was no guanciale in the dish, just thin cheap bacon. We also did not enjoy the dark atmosphere and vibe. Best Service In Our Lifetime! My wife and I were in town on for a business conference and wanted to have one evening to ourselves at an off the beaten path local favorite and we were blown away at the experience we had at The Charles. My background is in retail ownership and management and my wife works in a high en restaurant as well so we know what to expect when visiting another well established place, well at least we thought we knew. From the moment we walked in and were seated we had no fewer then 5-6 different people attending to our every need. Now when I say attending I mean they were in tune with every detail of our experience. From swapping out napkin cloth tho match our attire to refilling our water, ever single person that approached us engaged in actual conversation, was extremely friendly and top notch professional. Our Server s name was Jill and we absolutely loved her! She walked us through the the menu as a very nice pace, explained in great detail about the restaurant and perfectly times the various dishes we got. I wish I wrote down the rest of the team that worked with us and my sincerest apologies for that. The Food: This is a small plate style restaurant so know going in your going to order multiple plates and drop some money so if thats not your thing then be forewarned at least. That said the prices very very reasonable across the board. We had the Oyster, the Octopus (omg more on that later) the Gnocchi, Mackerel Crudo, And their spicy pasta. Each on of these dishes were immaculately arranged and flavor, nuance, and presentation. Our favorite was by far the Octopus. Whether you have ever had octopus before or not you have to, HAVE TO get it here. IT blew our minds! I could go on and on but you get the idea. It s also meant to be family style so you can have a bite and try every dish! - For starters, they serve you pickled veggies which was actually delectable. - The spicy creste di gallo was super sour! I don t know what happened but even my friends who had it before agreed. Not a fan. - I surprisingly loved the beef tartare the most! This is my second time having it ever and this was delicious! The veal beef ravioli was on the sweeter side. Wasn t bad! I loved the lemon ricotta gnudi actually! It was a fun texture and great flavor. The cacio e Pepe gnocchi was a different shape than the usual ball but it was delicious too! - They had a speakeasy in the back that you have to go through the kitchen to access which was actually really fun to experience. I was at a loss as to where to take my girlfriend for Valentines. After looking and looking, I came across The Charles . I couldn t have been happier with the decision to make the reservation on such a special day! My girlfriend and I were blessed with Antonio as our server! He is everything you could ask for and more in a server. He broke down the menu and made it easy for us to understand what we were ordering and made awesome suggestions to help the night go smoothly! Great conversation and truly made the night more special. When it comes to the food, The Charles hits the mark! We started with Oysters, as we do in many of our other endeavors, and they were great! Very plump and juicy. From there we tried the Wagyu Beef Ravioli Rustica and it was PHENOMENAL! I only wish I could have had more! Our main course was the Texas Wagyu NY Strip and it was plated perfectly. To the point where I didn t want to dig in as it was so beautiful! I eventually did, and it was the most tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection steak I have had in a long time! After stuffing myself with the Wagyu Strip, it was on to desert. I had the White Chocolate Tiramisu, while my girlfriend opted for the Expresso Gelato Profiterole. Both were the perfect way to end such a sweet night! The environment and atmosphere of The Charles is to die for!! Very romantic, intimate, and perfect for date nights. Awesome aesthetics and very well put together decor. Interesting choices for wallpapers throughout, but definitely a talking point which added to the experience! Charles made my birthday dinner unforgettable....in a wrong way. We were taken to a back room which is just an ordinary room with loud music. Entrees were served with sides that didnt quite match the menu description. My plain, grilled branzino was covered with arugula; no artichoke hearts was to be seen. The Pie that sounded very special was not any better than frozen pot pie off the oven. Grilled beets and mysterious root vegetables were salty and overcooked. Highlight of our birthday dinner? - they decided to add a tiny candle to my espresso profiterole by gluing it to the plate! Fancy at face but squeezing every dime out of each table...Kudos to the owners who are doing superb job of maximizing profits out of this place driven up by the deco and the vibes but not by the food quality. If enjoying the front deco was part of what we paid for, we definitely were left out by being led to leave thru the back door after dining.

I ve been to every Duro Hospitality restaurant and saved their flagship location for last. I will start with the pros: the service and food were fantastic, which are the two most important things to me. And it s why I ve given them 5 stars even though there were some downsides. Kara and Summer behind the front bar were incredibly helpful and attentive. The creste di gallo and lemon ricotta gnudi were fantastic. As others have said, these are more like east coast portions, so one pasta may not be super filling. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the chicken diavolo, both of which were cooked perfectly. The cons: I had reservations a few weeks in advance and was sat at the bar, which is not that large. My elbow kept bumping into the woman sitting to my right. This did not make for a romantic evening. Also, the ambiance/aesthetic is not as cozy or elegant as I have come to expect. As has been my experience with most of their eateries, the cocktails have some room for improvement, given the price. I had the Sunrise over Rome as well as The Bellucci, both of which were good, not great. Lastly, the espresso gelato profiterole came highly recommended and was mediocre. This is coming from someone who loves coffee and chocolate. I think I ll try the tiramisu next time. The food is amazing and the staff make you feel welcome. You should definitely not hesitate to go. I will definitely be back.

This spot is really cute and the service was pretty good overall. However, they kept saying the plates were family style and meant to be shared but the portions are extremely small. I d recommend getting your own dish each on top of ordering apps. Majority of the food tasted good, but there was one pasta and the crudo that was just super weird and bad. Drinks are very sweet too. Stick to something you know you like. Def not a 4.7 rating. I d give it a solid 4

I love the Charles! Its everything you want in an upscale dining experience. Small scale room for an intimate experience, opulent but not garish decor, delicious food worthy of the price, spot-on wine recommendations, and wonderful service. I cant stress the good service and efficiency enough. Everytime Ive been there the staff never appears rushed and yet the tables want for nothing. All of their pastas handmade and a dream. After dinner ask the waiter for directions to the entrance of Bar Charles, tucked nicely away on the other side of the building to offer the same great service and intimacy as the dining.

UPDATE: One year later, and we found ourselves talking about The Charles on our next anniversary trip (not to Dallas this time). We still talk about Shane, and we hope he still works at The Charles. We hope to visit again soon! It stuck with us so fondly as part of a special trip. Original: Our experience at the Charles was nothing short of amazing. We visited over NYE weekend on our anniversary trip, and The Charles was the only place that could squeeze us in for last minute reservations the evening we arrived in Dallas. The fantastic service started when I called for reservations. The restaurant was incredibly loud, and I couldn t hear the host over the phone, so he stepped out of the restaurant where I could hear him clearly to take my reservation. Upon arrival we were seated at the bar while they prepared our table, and the bartender gave great recommendations and was very helpful. The cocktails were tasty, and the ambiance and decor were nice. Every member of the staff was incredibly nice, helpful, and on top of things. We had several staff members running our food, collecting empty dishes, and asking us if we needed anything else. Our waiter, Shane, took the prize for the best service I have EVER experienced. He learned a little about us and gave amazing, honest recommendations based off our tastes. He even recommended several off-menu specialties that were fantastic, and taught us how to eat a couple of dishes we had never tried that were out of our comfort zone. He was truly the best server we have ever had. The food was amazing, and it ended up being the best meal of our special trip. The Charles was definitely memorable (we re still talking about it a month later), and we hope to visit (and see Shane!), again soon. Dietary restrictions: Our waiter made sure to ask of any food allergies to accommodate with the chef.

Friends recommended The Charles based on food and it being a part of the Duro family. We expected fantastic food, but were not expecting absolutely outstanding service from everyone in the restaurant, particularly our waiter, Rome. Prior to arriving we perused the menu and had a game plan - this is normal, or we get a little crazy! Once we arrived, Rome informed us they offer the Duro Experience from Thanksgiving to New Years, which is a 4 course meal left up to the chef. We ordered that and were not disappointed! Everything was delicious and some courses consistented of more than one item. Would highly recommend and plan to return!

Wow this place is decked out to the nines. Incredible atmosphere and almost every single employee greeted me or said something nice in passing even if I was just making a trip to the restroom or valet. The bar in particular is gorgeous. Mid food for such a high price and portions are very small. 22 for 3 meatballs. Averaged $7 a meatball. Wait staff was ok. The food was ok, some of the dishes were good and some were not. Service was odd. So many staff, it felt a little overwhelming. And they really tried to rush us, taking plates without asking if we were done, pushing us to order, etc. In addition, the prices for the serving sizes are just too much and small. 1st time at The Chrles. We made a reservation. Our table wasnt ready when we arrived, but that was a blessing in disguise. We were escorted to the swanky bar/lounge in the back. Super amazing Cocktails, bartenders were amazing! Then host took us to our dinner table, cute, 2 top, cozy and welcoming. Didnt feel crowded or like we were in top of one another. The dinner, we shared the grilled romaine salad, fantastic! And entree we shared the branding with fegola with a ciopinno sauce. Out of this world. Wish we wouldnt have shared. From the moment you arrive to Valet, and the hostess, you re greeted with the warmest of greetings. You ll appreciate the teamwork every member of the staff, right to the GM, exude, to assure your experience is amazing. Our server Austin was so knowledgeable and warm, our time enjoying our fabulous cuisine and cocktails passed far too quickly. The Charles enjoys a diverse clientele, both in demographic and attire. The eclectic dining area with its open kitchen and stylish bar are petite in size, arousing memories of the ambiance of fine dining cars of luxury railways. Not to be outdone, they ve even managed to incorporate through the kitchen, a speakeasy (Bar Charles) that elevates the vibe of the night, while maintaining the same amazing service, and dining experience. You can always visit for cocktails, however, If you re on a tight budget, the full Charles experience may be one you ll save for a special occasion; it will be so worth it. My family thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience on Saturday evening! We are originally from the northeast, and consider the big cities (NYC, Boston, and Philly especially) to boast the greatest number of excellent restaurants. After moving to Texas, it s been very challenging to find restaurants that come close to competing with the quality and experience we are accustomed to. The Charles - it does just that! We were blown away by the entire dining experience and cannot wait for the opportunity to return! The food, the ambiance, and the customer service were all top-notch! Dave was a very attentive server - we are so thrilled he encouraged us to try the Chef s Tasting Menu (Omakase style). He gave us a brief tour of the speakeasy as well; we look forward to checking it out on our next visit. And what a surprise to get to enjoy the Wagyu steak as part of the meal! Everything was delicious and we did not leave hungry! Thank you for a great dining experience and also for welcoming our toddler to the table. She loved her meal and the great choice in music for the dining room! Kid-friendliness: This would not be a place you typically think to bring your child; it screams date night. First time going to the Charles last night and it was great. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there and they were so accommodating. So many of the staff stopped by our table to greet us and made us feel special. The food was excellent as well. I hope when we visit again we can try a different seasonal menu. Wine selection was great as well. The vibe is very romantic and intimate. Nate made sure we had a great time. He had such great energy and wide knowledge of the food and drinks. Excellent. That pretty much sums up the experience here. This is an Italian inspired presentation of extremely high quality food that is prepared and plated like a Michelin star restaurant. Had dinner at the Charles last night while visiting Dallas and was very pleased. Cara was my bartender and she had excellent recommendations for food and wine. She was attentive and friendly and made it a great experience for me. The food itself was innovative, with flavors you wouldn t normally think to combine. I ordered the king salmon crudo which was exceptional. The crab ravioli was my next choice and while I LOVED the flavor (just a hint of curry with some heat), the dish came out a little cooler than I d like and the pasta slightly chewy (probably just needed another couple minutes to cook). Still cleaned my plate and have no regrets ordering this dish - it was tasty!) I ordered the chocolate dessert and I probably could have done without it. The candied gooseberries were a little tart combined with the chocolate, which I just didn t enjoy. I m a chocolate purist though, so just my personal preference. I d still HIGHLY recommend visiting The Charles, and if I had the chance to go again, I absolutely would.

The Charles is incapable of delivering on a group dining experience. What started out with a great call with Duro Hospitality at the beginning of the week to discuss details, ended with a surprise birthday dinner filled with flaws, disappointment, and standard gratuity added to award them for their inadequacies. - All diners in the restaurant were subjected to uncomfortable ambient air temperatures inside. It s Texas in the summer, get your air conditioner checked if it can t cool a dining room that s open to the kitchen. I m sure the staff would appreciate it too. - Plates always come out here when they re ready, but for our party of 9, entrees came out 5-10 minutes apart for different couples, leaving us to make the decision to wait until everyone had their entree, rendering cold food for some, or eating in front of others while they waited for their food. - A medium-rare bavette came out mooing so actually order up to medium if absolutely rare won t work for you. - I deliberated with Duro on Monday and confirmed they were good with me bringing my own cake. I dropped off a custom ice cream cake from a local bakery 5 hours before our reservation and shared no less than 3 times at drop-off that it needed to be frozen up until 20 minutes before serving. When I arrived at the restaurant I shared with the host and waiter that the frozen cake would need to be pulled out 20 minutes prior to serving - every single person nodded along and said that s no problem. Much to my disappointment upon bringing the cake to the table, the double layer cake had melted down and become so distorted from its original shape, the restaurant hurriedly attempted to smooth its edges down and pass it off as remotely presentable. To add insult to injury, they would not light the sparkler candles (two small sparklers, not the massive torch sparklers some restaurants use) and instead just put them atop of the cake and told the table they couldn t light them. Soon after, a dessert was going out to another table with a regular candle on it, so why not just substitute that onto our cake so someone can blow something out on their birthday? When I talked to Duro initially, they explicitly said I could bring my own candles in as they just use standard candles and that the only 2 things that couldn t be accommodated were confetti and balloons as they are disruptive to other diners. - The ice cream cake saga continued at the end of the night. My companion asked for the remainder of the cake to take home since no more than 1/2 was plated, at which time Chad said they had none left because it had all melted down since they didn t put it in the freezer. He made some comment about not having a freezer that could fit it - a standard square cake box no larger than 12x12 inches. Perhaps the Consumer Health Division within Dallas Code Compliance should pay a visit to see if they are operating a walk-in freezer or not these days. I ve worked in restaurants before and never had such a full walk-in. All in all, many past reservations at The Charles cannot get me past this disappointment of a surprise birthday experience. They offer private dining starting at $10,000 so perhaps that s the only way to have an acceptable group experience here. Try Georgie or Uchi for a truly legitimate and hospitable group dinner.

Make a reservation and make sure they sit you with Chad, met him about 5 months it was his first month here. Terrific guy. Ask for the beef tartare, you don t know what a beef tartare is until you try this. Come with an open heart Chad serves smiles, food & drinks around here. The best thing he serves is smiles and charisma.

I cannot say enough good things about The Charles. We celebrated our 10th anniversary at The Charles. My wife and I had such a great time! Once the staff found out that we were celebrating a special occasion, they made us feel so special including checking in multiple times and their service and concern was just out of this world. The food was awesome but we really cared about the experience which was brilliant! This was one of the best restaurants I have been to and highly recommend it. Our server (David) was just amazing and cared about our experience.

Expected a classy, respectful restaurant, but was greeted by pictures of naked women in the men s restroom. Completely disrespectful to those women, being gawked at by men and on display for everyone to see, and absolutely unacceptable and disrespectful to married men (and single men for that matter) who want to respect their wives and be faithful to them. What a trashy statement by a supposed upscale restaurant, and impossible to avoid by those who respect women.

Absolutely one of our favorite restaurants in town. Sexy dining room, see and be seen atmosphere. Food is delicious. Great wine list with a Curated list of Italian Wines. Great experience from valet to the end of our dinner. Our table wasnt ready when we arrived and the host walked us to the backroom to enjoy some cocktails. The ambiance was great although the music was a bit loud in the main dining. We ordered Spicy Creste Di Gallo, Prime Short Rib (delicious and so tender), grilled okra, and charred broccoli. Cant wait to come back.

Lately I feel like have been leaving more bad reviews than anything else. So its a pleasure to share my positive experience at The Charles. The food was delicious. Its definitely a little fancy, but not unbearable. The staff was fun and energetic. After dinner we walked to the speakeasy in the backroom and had an old fashion. The mixologist really knew his stuff and made a delicious cocktail. The atmosphere was fun and hip, really wish we had gone with some friends and stayed longer. I would definitely put this on your must go list.

This is a hidden gem in Dallas, I have stopped by this restaurant and I must admit was impressed with the ambiance, food quality and the service. I absolutely loved coming here for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Our server was very friendly and definitely wowed us. The smokey flavor to the Branzino fish and broccoli was amazing. The crispy potatoes were cooked so perfectly. And the gnudi is aged for six days and woooow! The manager Harry came by and was super nice and offered to get us a reservation anytime! They have a secret speakeasy you might get invited into. I wish I kept the receipt to give our server credit by name but he said he had 6 kids and has been Married 33 years lol

Im not usually one to leave a google review, but the ambiance and service was too fantastic to not share. Our party arrived a little bit early to the reservation, so we were kindly guided back to the speakeasy for a brief moment to wait, which had a great vibe. Drinks were amazing, especially the Rosa Calda. Once we sat at our table, we were given excellent and attentive service throughout our dinner. The food was amazing, to say the least. Definitely try a baked oyster and the crispy polenta to start! For pasta, we ordered the lemon ricotta gnudi, spicy creste di gallo (our favorite), and the bucatini carbonara. All of these dishes were outstanding, but the sous vide pork blade chop with a fennel crust was the star of the show. Sadly, I only saved room to have an espresso martini for dessert, but the affogato was a hit at our table as well. Overall, I will definitely be coming back and keeping this spot in mind for any special occasions!

Fun spot for Italian with a modern twist served by one of the best teams in town. This place just has that it factor that makes you feel cool just by virtue of sitting in the space. It s dark and intimate, but lively, especially if you are seated in the secret back bar. Nearly everything on the menu is inventive and on point. We had a couple of small hiccups on our last visit, but those are unusual and always well-compensated. Equally great choice for a weekday date night or a weekend dinner for a larger party.

This classy restaurant, complete with a hidden speakeasy-like bar in the back, exceeded all our expectations. The wait staff was friendly with excellent service. Our attentive server had a thorough understanding of both the menu and off-menu items. All the staff seem to be always in sync ensuring our table was never too crowded or empty, always serving food and drinks in a timely manner. We tried the branzino fish, grilled beets, crispy polenta, and veal ragu capalone. Each dish was tasty, it was a symphony of flavors. For cocktail we tried Aperol Spritz and Mezcal Amerato from the bar. The drinks were good, but will try something else next time. To end the meal on a sweet note, we tried the tiramisu. This place offers a truly exceptional dining experience, with impeccable service, flavorful food, and an enticing hidden bar. It has earned its place among the best in town.

I saw the light after this meal. Seriously. Went into the most glorious food coma that I unfortunately came out of. We enjoyed some veggie orduvs, which I believe are free, at the beginning of the meal. We love octopus so figured, why not! Glad we made that decision because it was some of the most tender octopus I have ever eaten. After that, we were recommended to order the bucatini carbonara, which is mixed together table side. I wish I ordered more so I could rave on about how great this food was. The staff was also exceptional, with plenty of recommendations. They also have a way with words, making every dish sound to die for. Hint: ask to be seated in the back room. It s a speakeasy styled dining experience and you still get the full menu.

This was a wonderful dining experience! 5 star treatment from the moment we hit the parking lot. The staff was knowledgeable and extremely attentive. The food was unique, flavorful and a joy to taste. They have an intimate speakeasy hidden in the back that I adored. This is a charming and elegant establishment with a real flair for making dinner a superb experience. Highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: They were able to easily accommodate my shellfish allergy. Wheelchair accessibility: While they could accommodate a wheelchair, it would take them quite some effort. This is a small location and every inch is well laid out with close seating to accommodate patrons.

Very cute and intimate spot for a date night or small group. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were delicious. We then shared the chicken diavoli, spicy creste de gallo, and the bucatini carbonara. Everything was tasty but the carbonara was delicious and little different as it had poblano in the sauce! My only complaint is that the shrimp were not deveined so we ended up picking them out of the dish. We finished with the poppy seed olive oil cake, which was fabulous. Lite but full of flavor when combined with the gelato. Make reservations and be aware its valet only. There is also a cute bar in the back, which is nice to have a cocktail after dinner.

The waiter was even trying to take our order at the same time as the table next to us... However, the vibe, decor and drinks were actually wonderful. The Charles is all about the experience. It s certainly a place to see and be seen in Dallas. The service and staff were very professional and attentive. However, we found the food to be just so-so. Our server described the menu as Italian-ish , which is true, but I ve had far better Italian-ish in Texas. For example, Emmer & Rye in Austin is far better than The Charles. Most of what we had was very bland. The meatballs, for example, were tender and well prepared but had very little flavor. We found this to be the case with everything we ordered. There s an unfortunate lack of flavor (aka salt) in everything we ordered. We also found the use of the term friends by everyone on the staff to be very annoying. We aren t there to be friends with the staff. It came off as sounding hillbilly preacher-ish. We had a nice evening but nothing about it will make us want to return.

Nice place, good looking food, okay flavors, overpriced, awful service. I carefully chose and reserved this place to meet a couple of friends we hadn t seen for +6 years, and we felt rushed out by the waitress, she was constantly coming to our table asking what else we were ordering. One of those many times I told her we were ordering dessert but in a while since we were chatting and catching up, she immediately replied ok, so what else can I get you now? I then said just the check, please She knew she made us uncomfortable and tried to offer us dessert on her but we politely rejected it and left to get dessert somewhere else :/
