Lots of options from sushi to ramen and deserts. Decent beer selection along with every saki that probably exist. Everybody is very nice and very attentive to your needs. Always paying attention to make sure you are not waiting to order more and more as you finish. There is a menu that lets you try some of the food as two pieces which is great. Would go back!

A local favorite for the US and East Asian folks alike. Nice service staff, quiet and subdued decorations augmented by very talented sushi chefs and back kitchen staff. This place is always a winner, do call for reservations. Went back for dinners recently, still good and much busier than the lunch times. Dietary restrictions: Talented sushi bar and back kitchen staff are always willing to accommodate Kid-friendliness: Parents need to restrain their children, but the restaurant and most guests welcome well- behaved kids.

Used to love this place but disappointed today. Salads were both frozen and mushy. The udon was now a small bowl twice smaller than before. Chirasisho bowl also my less fish.... Understand and can accept cost increases but the salad was not excusable. Been loyal patron for 15 years ...

I loved my lunch, but the price was increased. I have no choice but to reduce my lunch opportunities. However, it was very crowded at lunch, so I think it will be easier for new customers to come in. I think there will be fewer regular customers, but the food is good, so the store will be safe. I was a fan of lunch at this store. But from today I have to stop it. The price of the lunch menu has increased by about 30%. I think, the number of regular lunchtime customers at SUSHI ROBATA will decrease. However, this shop was very crowded at lunch time. So new customers will be able to enter the store smoothly. Im sad that I cant feel free to eat a real Japanese lunch. The new price of this lunch is now the same as any other store offering Japanese lunch. Therefore, the reason for choosing SUSHI ROBATA has decreased.

Everything in the bento box was delicious. We had the Hamburg steak, karaage, pork katsu, and sushi upgrade from the California rolls. This restaurant reminds me of a great Japanese lunch spot in New York City. The karaage is my favorite of any restaurant in the area. Very juicy and flavorful.

Its been a while since I came to Texas. Its hot, but it feels like Texas. Have a friend bring you here. This is a popular restaurant and seems to be very crowded on Saturdays and Sundays. First, I had some skewers. And the main dish is chirashi sushi. The atmosphere of the store is good. Unlike Chicago, theres no loud music being played, so its a comfortable place. The service woman seems to be Japanese. The casual service is very good. How was the meal, even though you were smiling a lot? I dont get asked this out of the ordinary. Now, about the food, the skewers are average. Chirashi sushi was not good. The vinegared rice was not well made and the toppings were not that good. However, the price is not that high, and if it was near my house, I would probably go there. I enjoyed it.

WATCH YOUR WALLET! After dropping $155 on a few plates of very ordinary food - served in pieces, with some bits missing, so everybody had to eat separately (this after losing our reservation... on Mothers Day) - hit with a whopping TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT AUTOMATIC GRATUITY... for a table of 5. Including 2 kids. Which isnt a policy anywhere, at anytime, in Dallas. Wow - not Europe here, and sadly not Japan either; one of the few ways a diner can express their dinner dissatisfaction is by choosing how to tip... then, not only having that taken away, but to be upcharged by management as well? 25%? Yikes. Stay away; a hundred other neighborhood sushi places in the city who will value your business, your time, taste . . . and your return.

Sushi Robata is the most excellent sushi place I ve been to in DFW that is not a luxury restaurant. I took my dad here, a pro chef that s made fresh sushi from fish caught in the Caribbean earlier that day in his youth, and he feels it is excellent. I have never had a bad sushi roll here. I ve never had a bad experience. I feel comfortable and the food never hurts my stomach they also have the most extensive sake menu and the fried tempura cheese cake is so good that I ve had my birthday dinner there for 5 years in a row so far. The staff are phenomenal, the atmosphere is really pretty, and I am so glad this restaurant is here. This is the best sushi in this price range and a bit above, even. A massive menus too, it puts everyone to shame.

It always makes me very nervous when the sushi is a bit warm, raw fish shouldn t be that warm lest bacteria start to grow. And the salmon eggs were clearly prepared many hours ago, The rice used for both was old and the rice for the salmon eggs was so old it became mushy and discolored. I m guessing my order was made earlier in the day like 4-6 hours ago prior to my arrival. I ordered three salmon sushi and two salmon egg sushi and they served it to me within 2-3 minutes of my order . How can that be freshly made. Worse sushi I ever had. Now I have to seriously worry if I m going to get sick or not. Sushi is not something to play around with in regards to serving old food!! I m going to come back up there and kick someone s armed if I get sick from this garbage!!

We had a reservation for 8 people on labor day, walk in at 7pm, waited in the lobby and no one came to service us, we had to get their attention from the back. The restaurant was very hot in the front. That should have been a sign to walk out but we didnt and gave them a try. We ordered nigiri and sashimi, my 10 yrs old niece turned to her mom and whispered, the fishes are not fresh here. After paying over $450 for the price they are charging, we do not expect the fishes to taste and smell fishy. Service was also poor, I had to standup to ask for service because all the ladies are only attentive to the customers in the back.

Im a food critic specializing in Japanese cuisine. I spend 13 years in Japan learning the dynamic food traits that Japan has to offer in one day becoming a chef of my own. Tetsuya Inoye my mentor took me around Japan learning the ways how food is prepared, served and consumed. Since returning to the States, I found a passion to critique the most known Japanese and Japanese/French influential restaurants in California, Utah, Arizona and now Texas. Although, I do review other posts and ratings I learned not to allow this to influence my perceptions of the restaurant that I review...and this has proven worthy to a high degree to say the least! I visited this restaurant and another in the same evening... To put it laconically and in all due reverence, this restaurant does not live up to its reputable review background. The ambience felt dungy and old. The food was NOT FRESH AT ALL as fish was about 2 weeks, vegetables marinated in sauce however, I could tell the dish looked and tasted well overdue! The cost was average however, for the price of outdated food marinated in sauce in attempt to mask the taste of such level of food couldnt deceive my pallet as a professional. On top of all other details, the waitress didnt smile, hardly spoke and forgot one of my orders! This is my first and probably my last visit at the restaurant. Peace and Harmony!

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. I swear it gets better every time we go. Takoyaki - crispy and so flavorful. Tonkotsu Ramen - hot, incredibly delicious, excellent noodle texture. Sashimi - amazing flavor, practically melts in your mouth. For how much food my husband and I order whenever we go here, it s really reasonably priced for a Japanese restaurant, especially when the food is as superb as what we get here.

I used to love this place, but its not what I remember it to be. Due to good memories here, I chose this place for a nice dinner with an old friend. Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was high humidity and a hot room temperature (not ideal for sushi...). Im a cold natured person too, so I dont say that often. It was more humid in there than outside. When seated, we were presented with 5-6 menus for options to choose from. After ordering our drinks, we proceeded to look through the menus. We were barely 3 minutes in when the waitress asked us for our order - we were not ready, so we told her so. A few minutes later, she asks again - we were only on the third menu for browsing at that point, so no. A few minutes after that, she asked again (in an annoyed tone), so we ordered random things and she took all the menus that we were not done browsing through yet. Being rushed for a sit-down meal with a server... not really ideal? If you wanted to rush people in and out, have a similar structure to Chipotle. Being rushed really distracts from tasting the food. Though I believe the food was decent, with the sushi being about average, this poor service took away from the taste, leaving us unsatisfied with our visit. Additionally, for what we got, $100 (includes tip) was considerably more than other competitors - the food was too average to justify that. I could make better at home. In the end, we paid for a mediocre experience for mediocre food (for the price).

Went once on a Friday evening. We didn t have reservations but they were able to sneak us in at bar seating. The place quickly filled up after we got there. I had the chirashi. It came with miso soup. The miso was different than any miso I have had before. Not sure what it was exactly but miso soup is usually pretty standard this was not that. The small salad was just ok. Chirashi was good. Nothing stood out but there were a good number of pieces of sashimi included (maybe 10-12 different pieces) My son had ordered a few yakitori skewers. They never came out so I had to ask about them and they brought them out a little cold like they just forgot and they had been sitting on the counter. As I mentioned it was got crowded and slightly chaotic it seems with staff walking quickly around the restaurant. There were quite a few Japanese speaking customers there for what it s worth. Friends had given this place good reviews so I might try to go back. Maybe I was just there on a off night.

Honestly, the worst sushi I ve had in my whole entire life. I ordered the dragon roll and it just smelled off, like really bad. I ate one piece and was immediately turned off by the low quality eel. It was not fresh at all and quite frankly, it tasted like it had been sitting out all day. There was also something slightly off-tasting about the other roll I had ordered, that one being slightly more tolerable. I believe the imitation crab on the inside of that roll to have been the culprit of that one. Overall, really bad and lacking fresh, good quality ingredients. I hate to write bad reviews, but god, their sushi was bad. Save yourself. Do not come here.

Refused to let my son eat Ritz crackers due to no outside food policy after I explained he cant eat meat or any solid food other than crackers do to issues swallowing they recommended a fried chicken cutlet wife had to go outside and let him eat in the car. While their food is great based on this experience I wont come here anymore.

This is ridiculous, the shop does not allow kids to drink their water in their own water bottle. They give us two cups of water, and ask us to take away the two water bottles and remind us don t drink with the water bottle. We have already mention it is just water inside those two bottles. The woman (pretended to be the restaurant owner) said it is a rule that No outside drink is allowed. This is not the first time being upset by this restaurant. The woman tried to prevent us from talking to the true restaurant owner (probably the one don t speak English), and yell all waiters and waitresses don t say anything. I wanna give zero star.

We spent $80 for two bento boxes and one appetiser. It s quite expensive and the food is not as good as before. We have been visiting this restaurant multiple times in the past 5 years . everything was good until the shop manager (the 50 s woman) set up a lot of ridiculous rules for the restaurant. She stopped my kids from drinking water from their water bottles! Seriously?! It is just water (H2O!!) She even asked us to put the water bottles away and take them back to our car . We wanted to complain to the shop owner, but she stopped us from talking to the shop owner and claimed herself is the shop owner(but we know she is not!!) We were really upset by the service. My family and I are done with this restaurant! We ll NEVER go back! It s removed from our favourite restaurant list from now on. If you plan to go to this place, GOOD LUCK to you.

Just experienced the worst customer service ever in my life. If only theres an option for negative 1000 star. Here s what happened, me and my wife and our new born daughter r dining here 6/4 evening. As we stuck in traffic our friends arrived earlier, we thought it would be appropriate for them to sit in first. We don t have a reservation but it s like only 20%full inside plenty of seats available. However, the waiter refuses to let our friends sit inside, not even in the waiting area, they said they can t let us in until all party arrived altogether, so they made my friends, their senior parent and two new born twin daughters waiting in the parking lot in the sun. Yet later when we dining, we saw pretty much every table has ppl arrive on different time. Then when we finally arrived together and granted permission to sit down, my friends brought his own beer and we havent seen each other for a long time and we r all so happy so we have a sip of the beer he brought from outside. Theres no sign of no food or drinks from outside, so we assume its ok. As soon as we had the first sip, literally saying cheers, this lady came yelled us like we just committed the worst crime. He take away all our beer immediately and threaten to kick us out. We were all like, ok we understand u guys have ur policy, but u dont have sign and u could just ask nicely like decent human being. We have three crying baby at the table so we dont wanna create a scene. Both my friend and I apologized and try to deescalate the situation. As the lady who yelled at us in English, she turn around spoke to one of her coworkers in Japanese, saying some racial slur in Japanese means stupid Chinese. My wife who is Taiwanese, speaks fluent Japanese heard it and tell me. Again, we r enjoying our friends company and dealing with 3 crying baby so we just let it go. Fast forward to the end of the night, we end up spending $330 for the dinner, when the check came, we saw on the receipt theres a $77 gratitude already automatically charged on our credit card without asking us. When the same lady came back with the receipt, not only she did not explain the charge, but she has the audacity to ask why we didnt give additional tips. Again, we did not argue and just left. As we walked out, everyone at our party is modified and agitated by how we r treated though the entire night. Now we r talking to our friends whos lawyer and exploring the possibility of seeking legal solutions. Aside from the inexcusable poor service, the food is actually pretty good. We just feel bad for the chef. We would totally become regular and go back there and bring more friends. Now we r letting everyone know how we r treated here and spread the words in the Asian community.

This Restaurant added something additional on my tab that I didn t request for & my charge should ve only been $25-30 but when she gave me the receipt it said $48. She instantly started backing up like she was scared because I was inquiring about why the bill was so high due to me knowing what I ordered. She stated next time when I call in my order make sure to ask what the price is soooo long story short DON T GO TO THIS BI*|*| A** LOCATION. & karma will definitely come back around. This location needs to be shut down & I m reporting to the BBB.

I really dont like sushi but this place is really really nice, I like the beef meatballs and the chicken meatballs and the bacon wrapped mushrooms, and I like the plum wine. I was with three other people and they really really enjoyed all the raw fish and the sushi, I tried creme brulee for the first time and it was excellent. This place is very nice the atmosphere was relaxing and the service was excellent. The food was really really good too, I would suggest this for anybody to try you would thoroughly enjoy it. I really enjoyed the bacon wrapped asparagus it was the best.

My all-time favorite sushi place. Cozy warm atmosphere, wonderful servers, and the freshest, highest quality food Ive had in Dallas! I have been coming here with a friend every time I visit the DFW area for nearly a year now, and have never disliked a single thing on the menu (and we order a LOT of variety!). It may be a bit pricey, but it is worth every cent, every time.

Great tasty Japanese food in Dallas. Wide selection of sushi and sashimi, all freshly made to order. Try the hot soup in a metal crockpot, which comes boiling hot with wide noodles, soft-boiled egg, authentic Japanese broth, and a large tempura shrimp. The sashimi salad is my favorite dish with fantastic dressing. I go there once a week excellent customer service and staff there.

We went in there because we were starving after waiting 2 hours and a covid testing line. The food was good. Our waitress was good but overcharged us by putting a $38 entree that we did not order and adding 2 octopuses and we only ordered one the entry was $38 plus the octopus. We were already gonna end up spending over a $150, why they did that I dont know so just watch your bill when youre going in there and just wanna just relax and have a good time and spends a bunch of money, they notice and take advantage of you when they think you are under the Influence of hot sake.

This was the worst sushi I have ever had. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll, but I wouldn t even call it a roll. The whole inside looked like one big pile of mash. You could not decipher what was in it. On top of that there was little to no flavor. Waste of 14$
