I needed an attorney for my son, I found this office through a web search and passed on that information to him. He went to see Richard and hired him. I paid the $1,000 deposit and my son paid the remaining $7,000 for his defense. The case took about a year and a half to get to court, oddly that is about how long it took my son to pay the $7,000 he owed. After a few months my son complained about Richards handling of the case. I told him I would sit in the next meeting. We brought up my sons concerns and Richards answers seemed solid, we believed he was the right choice even though he was pretty arrogant with his choice of words. We thought that was a good sign. The day of the hearing he gave us about a five minute prepatory talk before we went in. Once in, he pretty much let the DA do all the talking. I was shocked at the lack of defense he put up. The DA was actually more arrogant than he was. My son didnt help his case by denying the evidence presented although he did plead guilty as Richard asked him to do. My son did all the things asked of him to do while he was on bail awaiting the hearing which cost several thousand dollars and in the end, the sentence he handed to him is the same he would have most likely received if he had no attorney at all. A court appointed attorney would have done a better job in our opinion. Mr. McConathy, dont apologize for your less than adequate performance nor ask me to reach out to you, Ive already reached out twice and never received a response. The last words you said to me before walking off was call me if you need something. We paid $8,000 for your services and received a $500 defense. Had I read your reviews before hiring your office I most likely wouldnt have. All the negative reviews are right on the money and are the same opinions we reached before even reading them. The positive opinions I have to question. Would I recommend your services? No I wouldnt.

If I could give them a zero, I would. Dont use these people. Brian Bolton gives you 5 minutes to make a decision before walking into the courtroom. Brian Bolton and Mr. McCarthy will get you to plea bargain. I wasted all my money 17K on them for nothing. I will make sure everyone knows they didnt even converse with my husband before the case about the case. He was persuaded to do a plea and got 15yrs. The punishment didnt even fit the crime committed. The gain for Bolton was that he has moved up in the world. Use someone else and keep your money. Keeping it - 100. Im reporting them to the BBB. I called them back due to the message they put at the end of this review and they gave me, the wife, all kinds of excuses. Google is letting them respond to other peoples messages and they make a mess out of peoples lives. Go elsewhere!

I fell in trouble with the legal system a few months ago. Richards office was the first office I called and without hesitation he answers all my questions. He promised he would get me the best results and he delivered. Now with my effort I hope I can put this behind me. He was very attentive answered any questions I had, his team was very nice and calming as I was scared of this whole situation. My experience with this firm was not good in the least. Id give them a 0 star rating if i could. Literally, nothing Richard said came to fruition. He said he could do a lot during the initial interview and then proceeded to not accomplish anything we talked about. He said he could get a smaller charge dropped... He said he could get the bigger charge lowered... He said i would get my property back... He said i would have a 1 year cooldown period before i could get my record fixed... None of it came true and all at my demise... For what was discussed as well as the $$ i paid, I expected far better results with at least some of the results we discussed initially included with that. I dont expect people to be perfect but you cant say things like this to people with no hope of actually being able to accomplish it. All of this happened at a time i really needed this to go through as advertised or at least close to it. I feel taken advantage of in an hr i needed help. For that, my advise is, do yourself a favor and go with someone else.

I wish I had read the reviews for the law Office of Richard C. McConathy more closely before i hired them to represent me for a felony. This attorney and Brian Bolton do very little for the money they charge. Worse yet are their communication skills. Mr. McConathy did nothing but offer counterpoints about the points I brought up that were wrong with my case. It was like he was representing the authorities instead of me. Everything I brought up he had a reason why the DA wouldnt go for that. Looking back I believe that he just didnt want to try and negotiate with them. Brian Bolton was my representative with the DA. He told me the DAs offer that turned out to be their initial offer to everyone in my situation. I could have gotten that offer on my own without even hiring a lawyer! He told me they wouldnt negotiate. He wouldnt tell me why. I later found out that there was a previous conviction on my record from 1975 and that was the problem. But Brian never informed me that this was on my record. If he had I could have cleared it up since that conviction was overturned on appeal. And I have written documentation that ot was overturned. I fired them just in time and my new lawyer was able to clear this up. I got a much better offer from the DA within the hour! Mr. McConathy took my money and then didnt do anything! Especially and most importantly communicate with me!

I am a local business owner and it s important to me to have reviews. This firm helped me in 2018-2019 and I am forever grateful. I am so grateful that anytime I think of these guys which is more often than not, I try to take the time to visit any social media they have. As mentioned being a business owner my time is limited, so if I m taking time to come here and update or give a new review to a new platform allowing them, that should say something about them. I had a mess between Houston and here. Brian and Rick both handled them. It s important to find a lawyer that is active and the county/court room/judges areas that your case is in. Meaning that they have good relationships with all of them, which include the people that you re fighting against. Not only were they just that here in DFW, they were able to travel to Houston with me and Shawn like superstars. And trust that it s very apparent that Houston court rooms did not care to have us from Dallas there! These guys make mountains move. Genies get back into bottles. Id do anything either one of these guys asked of me including their staff. Ive offered my services to them all for free as I am forever grateful for the job they did for me in my time of need. Do what they tell you to do. They arent cheap. You get what you pay for. Youll be amazed.

I contracted with Mr. McConathy in January of 2020 in regards to a juvenile simple assault. He took my money and gave my case to Brian Bolton. Brian didnt do anything. He accepted a deferred agreement that included an inflated restitution amount despite being aware that I was unemployed. He refused to vet the amount and said the DA has no reason to lie He then dropped my case without notification. Within 5 days my new attorney has determined my Son has a viable self defense option as well as determined the restitution was inflated by a 1000. Just give your money to a good charity if your looking to just give money away.

Youre better off calling Saul from breaking bad than dealing with this guy. Paid him the down payment and for what? He didnt even show up to court date but sent someone else. He never sat down with me to talk about anything on my case other than the fact that he goes to lunch with the judge regularly and that the judge is very political person. Well to sum this up. They don t communicate very much unless they need a payment. I literally drove up there to see what was going on with my case because i had not heard anything in over 2-3 months. My first felony ever and I decided to stick it out with them and boy was I lucky. The judge was lenient with my charge because i worked with law enforcement upon questioning. (The judges exact words) And upon questioning my lawyer about the process and what is happening he was getting antsy and got irritated because i wasn t knowledgeable about what exactly happens through the legal system. I m sorry I didn t attend college to get my law degree. But didn t you get your degree to actually help people and test the laws and see wether or not they were upheld? Or did you just get the degree for the money? Regardless I had gotten what I wanted (deferred adjudication) but would I return to them? Probably not. Pay them if you want but once they have your money and sign the contract don t expect nothing more than a phone call to pay up every month. And make a decision 5 minutes before going into court for the final decision. Sorry if yall expected a 5 star review for me getting what I wanted but I was expecting a lot more for $5,000.

Do NOT hire this firm, they are a total rip off, I fired them due to their inability to communicate or tell me what was going on with my case, they only contacted me for money, literally they give me 5 minutes to make a decision before walking into the courtroom. Mr McConathy is great at convincing you to hire him by scaring you to death he will pressure you and put the iron claws in you to scare to into hiring them and then they overbill you and do nothing. Before my case was ever FILED with the county and before they could have done any work on that case, I fired them, thet debited my bank.acct $1, 400.00 AFTER billing me 500.00 for a traffic ticket!!!! They are crooked, how do you take money for work you NEVER DID. Im filing with the BBB against them, get another lawyer all they want is your money they dont care about you and will take your money and take the first deal the D.A. gives them and charge you ridiculous amounts and leave you out to dry. Mr. McConathy is a very skilled and dedicated attorney, from the moment I hired Mr. McConathy I knew I had made the right decision. Sadly I didnt hire Mr. McConathy when I was first charged, like many charged with a criminal offense you have a lot to lose if you are innocent or guilty so finding an attorney who will vigorously defend you is not only your right under the Constitution but will determine the outcome of your case and Mr. McConathy is proof this is true. I made the mistake of listening to false promises by the first attorney I hired who convinced me he would vigorously defend me instead, he only tried to get me to take a diversion even though he said he knew I was innocent and got upset when I refused. I didnt have to convince Mr. McConathy of my innocent, after reviewing the evidence he knew and told me I was falsely charged. Mr. McConathy always kept me informed of the status of my case, vigorously defended me and just as Mr. McConathy had said on the day of the Pre Trial the District Attorney dismissed my case. I would highly recommend Mr. McConathy to anyone who is facing a criminal charge. This is a very trying time for anyone facing going to jail, losing their freedom, their reputation and its important to hire an attorney who will fight for you no matter what you are charged with and not look to settle your case just because its more convenient for them. This is the kind of attorney Mr. McConathy is, he is a credit to his profession and its sad their are not more like him to defend our rights. I cant thank Mr. McConathy enough for the way he treated me and represented me during this trying time. I have the upmost respect for him and should I ever need an attorney again I will not have to look for a competent attorney to represent me, I now know where to find one who I consider an outstanding attorney.

They worked my case, they did fine. Months later, I needed a SIGNATURE on a statement saying that they did work my case and they refused. I desperately needed this one signature that costs them nothing and takes 3 minutes to scan in. My entire legal status could ride on this and they refused to help out. they dont care what happens to you. There are plenty of other legal rep who will care about your case. go somewhere else.

Fighting a Felony DWI with Child, Mr. Bolton was able to get a good deal seeing I finish probation conditions. After a year of fighting, stress, anxiety we closed my case 18 months of probation, classes, community service, and interlock device. If I successfully complete probation with no problems, my felony DWI with child will be reduced to a Class B DWI Misdemeanor. Mr. Bolton answered all my questions, concerns, and returned my calls in a timely manner. After speaking to different lawyers making all kinds of promises, this law firm explained what I am facing, consequences, and what strategy we can take to get where we want to be. I am pleased with the results I received, now it is time for me to do my part and complete probation. Will update once probation is complete. Hope this helps someone making a stressful decision.

I was JUST A NUMBER! They would hardly ever show up for court dates (just kept postponing) and once came and represented someone else and left, I had to wait to the end and the judge had to call and ask if they forgot about me. When my FINAL day in court came, they sent someone Ive never seen OR even talked to, to represent me! Thank GOD I wrote a letter the night before about myself and what they should know, because up to that point, that had not taken the time to get to know me. Richard did not even take the time to watch the police video with me, he only came in 5 minutes left of it and pretty much gave me no hope. I was just another case for them and they got a WHOLE BUNCH of my $$. NOT worth it! A little more personable attitude would have made me feel better at such a horrible time in my life.
