I absolutely do not mind paying a premium for quality service or drinks. But this is definitely not the factor. The style of the bar is unique and relaxing. $55 (with a $7 tip) for two cocktails is absolutely outrageous. Bar gives chill vibes, plays very odd British style rap. Speakers didn t seem like they were even tuned correctly. I d say at least some house music or something more tuned to the atmosphere of the bar would ve helped. Usually I find it annoying when the music is very quiet but the stuff they were playing I m absolutely happy it was. If the drinks were at an understanding price and if they had at least some sort of actual decent music taste I would definitely come back. But this visit set the bar pretty low.

This spot is through the discreet kitchen of Musume, a sushi restaurant in Dallas. Located in the Arts District. I had eaten at Musume back in 2021. But I didn t realize what was through the kitchen Damn! The dimly lit interior is adorned with oriental motifs, namely dragons. It s an alluring spot with plush velvet booths tucked away in separated sections promoting exclusivity! The bar, also covered in crimson hue lighting, has an impressive handcrafted cocktail line up. I had the Cobra Akai and it was excellent.

If a speakeasy doesn t inspire a WOW entering, they ve already failed! I m on the guest list for many, and Akai deserves a lot more than a WOW! Doesn t matter If you re arriving after enjoying the amazing cuisine of Musume, or Akai is your point of destination, you ll be treated to the same amazing service. While many speakeasies rely heavily on their clandestine locations, and entrances, Akai also adds the elements of service and presentation; by personally escorting each guest through the kitchen of Musume. Akai s contemporary Japanese design featuring tiered illumination will evoke an immediate smile. The space although bijou, offers varied seating accommodations, ranging from the most intimate, to tables for groups, or those who don t mind paying for the privilege. No speakeasy would deliver the vibe you deserve without also offering great sounds, and cocktails. General Manager on staff 9/10/23 ruined my friends birthday like nothing I ve experienced in my 39 years. This staff member was aggressive, abusive, and in our face for NO apparent reason. When I went to make a formal complaint, the front staff at Musume said many left work in the speakeasy, and went to work up in the restaurant. The whole front staff were quick to relate to my issue, that the speakeasy staff is toxic and that they were all sorry. My friend was coming in for her surprise party, and we bought confetti that attaches to a ring so it doesn t get on the floor. It s just for the look of surprise. It is a smart little design and well thought by our party,. This man came and started YELLING at our whole party and ripping them out of our hands right when the birthday girl was walking up for the surprise. We were trying to be nice and explain to him but he was outrageous, abusive and in a rage. We had this planned online for a month. He got physical and literally would not even listen. The way he was treating females was aggressive and inappropriate to the situation by being up in their face over some confetti rings. It wasn t any situation to ruin my friends surprise party over. Even if it had got the floor a little dirty, (which it was not going to lol) I mean really? He kicked out her party guests, and people who paid for parking never got validated. It makes you literally not just not want to go here anymore but not to Dallas clubs. It s like they are going downhill with staffing these days. If you re planning to get a table here, I would consider going to a place you are certain your guests will be treated like proper guests. Pathetic behavior. This man shouldn t even be working the line at Taco Bell. Must be a who you know situation. We were treated awful and many guests deserve refunds, worst case for birthday spot.

Me and my friends come here often when we want a fun night out. We brought a group of 10+ Hispanic people and asked the DJ to play some reggaeton. He said we are in Dallas, we are not wherever you are from which of course came across very judgemental. We were having a great night and his comment definitely influenced our view of the place.

What an absolutely amazing place to visit. Me and my wife have made several trips to Dallas and have tried to get in here each time and have never been able to until today. This place is off the chain. You cant find a better bartender in town. Sam and Antonio are the best. And the drinks were phenomenal this is all day long a five-star bar to check out. You wont be disappointed

It was my birthday and our server at Musume told us about Akai. We were excited to check it out and we were the 2nd group of people to arrive as they opened. We tried a couple of cocktails that were very tasty and our cocktail waitress was sweet. As we re closing out, literally signing our tab, what I am assuming is a manager felt it necessary to say I know y all are closing out but we have a reservation for this table. The whole bar was mostly empty and he saw we were about to leave. Why was that necessary? I spent over $300 at your establishments and I came here to celebrate. That s how you treat your customers? That s not the hospitality I was expecting. I would recommend to drink fast and sign fast because clearly you re rushed out of the door when visiting even if it s half empty. Happy Birthday to me. Horrible and dangerous establishment. They left broken beer bottles all over the floor and one of them cut my foot so badly I had to go to the ER. The management did absolutely nothing to help except promise to refund our money back because we were there less than 30min. When I called back and spoke to the owner Josh about the reimbursement, he denied the entire thing and hung up on me. Major safety negligence and not to mention they do not care about their customers and clearly willing to rip off an entire group of people.

Fun and aesthetically appealing place, but the restrooms and espresso martinis were both not a vibe if you re looking for quality. Bottle service was amazing and our waitress was excellent. Restroom is trashed and sinks are broken spraying water everywhere.

Decent spot to hang out if you want table service. It tends to be extremely crowded on Friday & Saturday night. One cool element is that it is a speakeasy. One has to enter the restaurant up front and walk through the kitchen to get to hidden club.

Cool spot. The cocktails are good when the place is not to busy, it gets very club like on the weekends. Bottle service and all. When its slower the bartenders have more time to make craft cocktails. The music varies on the day, sometimes they play more house type stuff and then others its top 40, crowd changes a bit depending on that. I still would rather spend my time here versus places like bottle blonde and citizen.

All ads and articles show a cool, intimate speakeasy with a Japanese aesthetic. In reality, it s 5,000 20 year olds jammed into a basement with a DJ blaring EDM and zero room to walk or sit. My group spent about 7 minutes in there and then went to look for a real speakeasy.

Cool speakeasy concept, they escort you through the kitchen to get inside and greet you when you walk in. You may wait a while for the door man to get back from escorting the preceding group. Club vibe, low lighting inside with loud music. Cocktails are ridiculously expensive, gotta be aiming to impress to come here and pregame is recommended. Seating extremely limited unless you purchase bottle service. Not sure why they don t put stools at the bar, I m guessing they keep the free seating limited intentionally. Unique overall experience, especially with the red neon overhead lighting. The customer service is exceptional and there is plenty of staff unlike many places that are understaffed.
