Came into town just looking around the area at differences businesses, greeted with a do you have a reservation? Well hello to you too. Not sure who the lady was. Then kept stating they were closed and my husband was just stating we were looking around. Redirected us to a calendar stating why they were closed. Okay . Well if we were going to go in the future, we won t be going now.

A Fun Experience with Some Drawbacks I recently visited Circus with my aunts and mother and had a mixed experience. While the atmosphere was enjoyable and the staff, for the most part, was friendly and helpful, there were several issues that detracted from our visit. Positive Aspects: Friendly staff: The majority of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and accommodating. Bottomless Mimosas: The bottomless Mimosas were a nice touch and kept us refreshed. Fun atmosphere: The overall atmosphere was enjoyable and conducive to socializing and creativity. Negative Aspects: Limited supplies: The venue was low on supplies, especially for popular projects. This was particularly frustrating given the early time of our visit. Broken printer: The advertised custom design feature was unavailable due to a broken printer. Poorly maintained paintbrushes: The paintbrushes were dirty, crusty, and damaged, making it difficult to create precise lines. Lack of food options: Given the alcohol service, it would be beneficial to offer some light food options, such as snacks or small bites. Indifferent attitude: One staff member seemed dismissive of our concerns about the lack of project supplies on a weekend and broken printer. When I mentioned you should get that fixed in regards to the broken printer and low inventory issues crucial to their business model. I was told are you going to fix it? Ignoring the fact that for any business following through on their promises such as customer design options at the basic level is crucial. I can maybe get inventory issues though that is reflective of improper planning, but for a broken printer a staff member should make a quick run to staples for a new printer. Overall: If youre looking for a fun place to socialize, try new crafts, and enjoy some drinks, Upstairs Circus can be a good option. However, if youre a perfectionist or have specific project ideas in mind, you may encounter frustrations due to abused/limited supplies and potential equipment issues. Recommendations: Bring your own supplies if you have specific needs or preferences. Be prepared to be flexible and adapt your project ideas based on available materials. Be prepared to not do the project you came for after you pay as you will only be told about lack of project availability after you have paid and sat down. Vegetarian options: All they really have is alcohol and drinks that seems pretty vegetarian friendly to me. Just don t expect to be able to eat unless you bring your own food. Parking: It s Deep Ellum if you know you know, parking is a nightmare here Kid-friendliness: They do allow children, however it is still a bar and children are not recommended. Wheelchair accessibility: Theoretically wheelchair would be able to enter here and secure a spot at a table; however, for a day, they may find maneuvering around with all the people a bit difficult. Especially if they have to go back-and-forth a lot to get supplies.

We went for bottomless mimosas on Saturday and had a great time! Dee was incredible and so helpful! We both did the nail/string art project and had so much fun. Studio is super cute, well organized, and clean. Parking - there are multiple pay lots in the area that are within a two minute walk of the studio. A lot of great restaurants that are walking distance to the studio. You can also have food delivered to the studio while you create.

We booked a Sunday sangria party for 7 friends. When we came in we paid for our two entrance fees separately and was given instructions on what on how to choose our craft. My husband and I dont drink so we gave the sangria to the birthday girl. Well we had no idea that they open a tab automatically and it was left open with our card and I was very surprised when I saw a 31% tip added to our $86 entry fee. I checked the website and it states that any tab left open will be charged an 18% gratuity but someone rang up 31%. I tried calling and leaving a messages and also emailed through the website but no one will contact me back about it. This also happened to the remaining party of 5 and she even had 2 children in her party. She was able to get in touch with someone but they refused to do anything to remedy the situation. All in all the place is an interesting concept. Most of the crafts are less than $5 in goods but no one came around to assist us with anything and we had to ask a couple of times for the included sangria for the few in our party who drank. But the gratuity being handled this way was very unprofessional and they make it impossible to get in touch with anyone. So Im giving it a low score because one or some employees are taking advantage of customers by not explaining how the place works. I thought I was just paying an entry fee not giving a $27 tip for someone who had no drinks. Thats no way to do business!

We had a phenomenal time at upstairs circus. It was a whimsical environment. The charismatic hosts made us feel very comfortable and helped us along the way. Creativity was flowing through the place. You dont have to be especially crafty to be able to do a project though. My date made a leather cuff bracelet and I made nail-string art (my new passion). It was just challenging enough for us. We were there for around 2.5 hours or so. The tasty drinks were flowing. It was a blast. The unique atmosphere is intimate. Like youre in someones magical workshop that also happens to be a bar. You could come drop in for just a cocktail. I would love to come back with a group.

We were visiting Dallas for the weekend and thought this would be a fun date night. It exceeded expectations! The drinks were great and they have so many cool projects to choose from. The instructions were easy to follow and made it simple for non-artistic people like my husband and I to create something we were actually proud of! Above all, the staff and service were exceptional, in particular Triva! We casually mentioned to her that our dog was named after David Bowie and she went out of her way to look up a special stencil (not in any of the books) just for us to use. On top of that, Triva and her coworkers were always walking around and helping different groups with their pieces. I was nervous i wouldn t be able to do the project well but they made it a breeze! It was a great experience and we would love to do it again in the future!!!!

This is a great place for a creative outing. There are lots of project options but I was surprised by how involved they were. The site doesn t give much insight but you have to fully glue and paint everything. No part of the projects is predone. So if you aren t very crafty it will likely be hard. For instance, the string art requires you to sand the wood, paint it, trace the design, hammer in all the nails, the do the string. The table tops are also a bit crowded but the experience was still fun. Parking: There is no specific lot.

It was OK. Definitely not what I expected. Here are the things I had issues with. 1. They did not have all the projects available that my group wanted to do. 2. The instructions were not the easiest to follow and no one ever came by our table to see how we were doing or offer any help. 3. They seemed short staffed because it took a very long time to get drinks. 4. If you wanted to bring any food with you there would not have been any place to put it. The workstations/tables were too crowded with tools. I like the concept but I dont like the execution. I was expecting more of a workshop setup with high workbenches where I would be standing mainly and then maybe some stools. The table setup with chairs makes it tough to work on the projects. When you are trying to position something on your project and then someone else is hammering, it makes it difficult. For the price, many of the projects are just not worth it. I will probably not return.

don t waste your money. You are better off staying home with paint and glue and a bottle of vodka for half the price. No instructor, no one helping us with the project, and by far the RUDEST women I have ever met. I had to get up from my seat multiple times to ask for help and I was consistently cut off and told to go back to my seat. We were running late due to the traffic, rain, and our Uber being late to pick us up (not our fault). Upon arrival, were insulted by the lady checking us in, despite there being only ONE other couple there so we really weren t holding anyone up. Use the money to go to a fun restaurant instead and go home for the crafts. Also- good luck contacting anyone if you re running late, the phone number doesn t work and no one responded to my email when I said we would be late.

Upstairs Circus is a unique way to spend a few hours if you want to try something new/different. It s a paint n sip style place except you choose a craft (jewelry making, building household items, etc.) and you are your own instructor. I give it 2 stars because the craft options are not worth the amount of money it costs. Drinks are encouraged but not even 1 drink is included with the seat price per person. There is no instructor so it didn t make sense as to why the cost was so high. Oh and they don t have free bags to take your items home in that you create. You must buy that too. Do not choose the wine glass craft!

While my initial experience with this place was certainly lacking, toward the end and after choosing a different project it changed a bit. You must know what you are walking into before coming. You choose a project, are given materials, and then you are on your own. No help, no nothing. Im not a DIYer, so this was not an extremely fun experience for me. When I chose a different project, I was charged for it which was entirely unfair due to the fact that I messed up literally nothing of the first project except the practice circles that come with it and again they were for practice not the material for the actual project. The project I ended up with was successful, but certainly not worth the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone as it was a very much heres what you need, youre on your own experience. Would have given more stars if I was not charged for a second project when the first one was not ruined in any way and could and most likely would be used by another person in the future.

Overall a really good concept for someone like me who loves DIY crafts! Wide selection of crafts to make which was nice, I went with the stone serving tray. We chose a Sunday Funday event with the time frame being between 3:30-6:30pm. We arrived shortly after 3:30pm but didnt get our craft supplies and situated until about 4:00pm since they only had one person behind the supply counter and it took a while to help each of the crafters ahead of us in line. At 6:00pm on the dot, we were told they were closing and needed to wrap up our project even though we assumed we had another 30 minutes. We were told we could take material home to finish craft or come back to finish so we opted to finish at home but were still very surprised that it was only 6:00pm. Also, online and on their craft menu it says that for the stone serving tray, there is a variety of stones available but I was given a white marble stone without the option of choosing. The mystery cocktails were delicious! Overall great experience and would recommend to others.
