Neon Kitten is dope!!! I had the privilege of shooting a recap video for the incredible Shelby Starr with #starrtalent_agency and @shelbi_veda s birthday party last weekend. We had the lounge area in the back to ourselves and the vibe was perfect. Bartenders were on point and I wasn t there early enough to partake in dinner but I heard it was fabulous. Thought I d throw a few stills from the vid on here and show our appreciation. Thanks Neon Kitten! You made my best friends birthday amazing. Love from @reeledgyproductions. Update: You may have updated your hours after my review here on Google but you didnt update them on Yelp or other sites. Its all good though we went somewhere else where we didnt have any issues. In the future I hope you treat other potential customers better than you treated us. My friend and I specifically drove out to Deep Ellum to go to this restaurant based off reviews. We have a show we are going to later and wanted to stop here first. Their hours said they are open and open at 5pm. We walked in (door was unlocked) The bartender stated they werent open and they open at 6pm. I said that their hours on Google say they open at 5pm. He said he knows that it says that on there walked us to the door, and locked it. Really disappointing and kind of upset about it to be honest. Like we had really went out of our way to specifically try this restaurant out and thats what we got.

The service food and drinks were the most disappointing. I ve had food was cold very small menu options, and they had no drinks as in sake, and the mixed drinks were very bad. Server did not tend or check on us. Had to get up and ask for everything. I would avoid this place. Tip is automatically added when the server did not deserve what was charged for tip. I like to tip well but it didn t deserve it. Mainly food isn t good.

We came here for a friends birthday and we would never go back again. My friend wanted to go based on their Instagram. The food pictures on there looked amazing, and the Instagram is very well run. She was extremely excited to go. We went and sat down. No other tables were sat. A couple of people at the bar. The server came and seemed a bit uninterested. We asked about the food shown on Instagram and why it wasnt listed on the menu. We were told that they were basically switching to a bar menu, and nothing shown was going to be offered again. Basically, a bit of bait and switch. He didnt really have any suggestions. Essentially suggested that we get drinks like everyone else. Well we came there to eat so we ordered. The hamburger didnt taste much better than a hamburger you would get at McDonalds. It was obviously a frozen patty thrown on the grill for a hot minute. The fried chicken was just okay and had a little bit of a kick. Basicslly a spicy version of chick fil la. The egg rolls were tasteless and just very hot temp wise. The last item we got was a the dumpling box. The dumplings looked very pretty but had absolutely no flavor. The server did not check on us much. My friends said their cocktails were delicious. They said they would go back again for their cocktails but not the food, and only If they were down there doing other things. I would just take the food off your Instagram altogether. Focus on cocktails. Unless you have a server who trusts your product and you post about the food you actually have then just focus on your drinks. Your strong point. Also the bill came to 42 a person and none of us were filled. Not worth the money.

Ruined my 21st birthday I went with my boyfriend and my best friend to celebrate my 21st birthday. I had found this place cute and was excited to take one of my first drinks (legally) here. We had ordered 3 drinks, 2 ramen bowls, and 3 small plates. Firstly, we had a waitress come serve us first and we realized that she was swapped out for a guy. No biggie, she was probably just trying to go home and just transferred it to the guy instead. However, the downside was that we didn t receive our drinks for what seemed like 20-25 min. We had to ask for them after we had already gotten most of our food. The food was fine but nothing absolutely astounding. Drinks on the other hand were awful. I have never recoiled so quickly from a drink. No one at our table liked what we had gotten. Although we were able to get the drinks taken off, we didn t receive any refills on waters all but once (at the end). We had asked our server 4 separate times and he never came. For whatever reason it seemed like he was avoiding us even though we hadn t had much issue with him before. For the entire time there we were coughing and thirsty from our spicy ramens but waited so long to get waters from tiny glasses given to us. At the end, we still couldn t find our server even though we were ready to go and sat much longer than I would ve liked. Ultimately my boyfriend had to go up and ask a different server and the bartender, who then had to go remind our server. As a server myself, who works in the downtown Dallas area and tips exceptionally well for good attentive servers at other restaurants, I can recognize when somebody is wanting to put in the work or is just wanting to catch a quick buck from the drinking crowd in Deep Ellum. Originally, I was planning on going someplace else after having dinner, but I was so put off by the service and awful drinks that I ultimately wanted my birthday to end early. Thanks Neon Kitten for ruining my 21st birthday :/

Let me tell you this place passes the vibe check. The playlist they had playing was so fire. I also loved that their was a DJ that came in later to turn the place up. I went on a Sunday around Brunch time. The Bartender was so fire! He made out drinks super fast and overall was just cool. I also loved that there was this secret looking room in the back. This spot is just overall dope. I will be going back!

If you re looking for cute drinks this place is good; but when it comes to the food it is genuinely disappointing. As an Asian person I felt insulted by the quality of the food. The sushi roll, which was $18, broke down every time I picked it up. The shrimp hargow was obviously store bought and defrosted ($9 for three pieces). If the owner is serious about this place they need to seriously revamp the menu items and put some effort in the dishes. Success of a restaurant doesn t depend on the atmosphere, but on the fundamentals, which is quality food that makes people want to come back. This place severely lacks the basics that make a restaurant worth coming back to

I booked a reservation at 11:00 pm after a concert through their system and hours via the website. Got dropped off on a corner in Deep Elllum with a friend and didn t see the restaurant. I called the number and whoever answered said they closed two hours ago. When I said I booked a reservation, he said they need to update the hours. So, I spent money on a Lyft and was dropped off in a sketchy part of Deep Ellum and for nothing. Seriously, please update your hours!

Neon Kitten is the kind of trendy, Instagrammable place I usually dismiss offhand as overpriced flash with no substance and dont bother even trying. Couple that with Asian fusion and I definitely was a bit wary of this place. Well that was a prejudice that was completely undeserved, because Neon Kitten is fantastic. Lets start with the food. Asian fusion so often comes in two flavors: cheap bastardized dishes marked to the worst commercialized stereotypes of Asian food, and expensive elevated dishes that somehow charge far more while removing the heritage and flavor of the original core concept. Neon Kitten does neither, instead serving reasonably priced dishes that are playful and delicious variations on their origins. Take their karaage, for example. Good karaage is moist, tender, and has very crispy breading that crunches beautifully but is light at the same time. Places that do it badly have dense, thick breading frequently, along with dry or flavorless chicken. Theirs checks the boxes for classic karaage, but uses more variation in the cut size as well as shape than Ive seen, as well as chicken that has a fantastic flavor and Im not quite sure if its a marinade or what, but its really good. And they topped it with gochujang sauce, which is an unexpected combination that was magnificent and Ill have to do it at home. Some other highlights included the beef puffs and fried gyoza. I grew up with fried gyoza in my Japanese-American home; so few places offer them any way other than steamed or pan fried, so this was an absolute delight. I havent gotten to try the ramen yet, but plan to next time. Only tried one drink, the Kobe, but it was really tasty and definitely not a weak one, balanced and not overly sweet with a complexity that made every element blend beautifully. Fantastic presentation as in all things, this one came in an adorable pig-shaped mug. So often these showy drinks just lack any character, but this was incredibly well made and I would come here for the drinks alone. Lets also talk about that trendy visual design of the place. A lot of restaurants and bars are going for that brightly colored neon chic these days, but Neon Kitten actually nails it in a way that is genuinely pleasant and doesnt feel trite or imitative. It seems like they hired a good interior designer, and then actually did what said designer instructed. The more you look at the fixtures, the seating, the little touches of design, the more you see care and effort, thoughtful intention, and joy. One example: I noticed they use these spiky light fixtures that are somewhat common these days, but they are wrapped in lovely fake cherry blossoms that give them a completely different character. Actually took me a while before I noticed what they were built on. Finally, all the staff I encountered were delightful. From the moment we walked in the door everyone was kind and eager to help with anything, friendly, good suggestions, and incredibly pleasant. I had forgotten my teeth aligners case and just sandwiched them in a napkin, but one man there noticed and brought over a steam basket lid for me to put them on instead. Just all around wonderful and positive experience, will definitely be back.

The service was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable dining experience. Very poor experience in terms of food, drinks and service. With an auto tip of 20% for a party of two. To begin; 1) Waiter approached table next to us, guy in the back yelled The other couple and then he disappeared. I am not sure happened but he walked away and didnt come back for a little bit. 2) The drinks we ordered were not as imaged or described. Hiroshima was missing the mango and rim coating, Sapporo had so much egg white it was left 2/3 foam than drink. 3) Waiter forgot to give us plates, and when asked, tried offering the plates under the plastic dimsum container..which were covered in condensation.. yuck... 4) The pork shumai was visible undercooked on the inside (Translucent pork/shrimp?) and external wrapper looked under cooked as well, opaquish parts in the wrapper. 5) Last item we ordered was mixed up for the wrong item. But no problem they took it off the bill. Which is where the 1 star is coming from. Otherwise this would be a 0. So the food is undercooked, drinks are poorly made, and service is below substandard - I would have rather served myself, made my own drinks and cooked the food myself, than pay this bill + tip frankly. $82.35 for 15 dumplings and 2 drinks. You live and you learn.

My boyfriend asked for a Japanese high ball (they say they are a Japanese inspired bar/restaurant) & it was made with Jim Beam (when they had a selection of Japanese whiskeys?) - and the drink was shaken not stirred. I watched the bartender pack ice into the Hello kitty cup with his bare hands, who then proceeded to wipe his hands on his pants lovely! Other than that staff was friendly. Neon Kitten is adorable! My boyfriend brought me here for a cute casual date, and I was not disappointed. Before I dive into the review, I need to emphasize that Neon Kitten is fusion-based; it focuses on drinks and small bites! If youre looking for an authentic dim sum or Japanese restaurant, this may not match what youre looking for. With that being said, this location is great. We tried quite a few items from the menu and were really pleased with the flavors. Is it the same as going to dim sum on Sunday morning with your Asian grandma? Ofc not, but you can still get your (limited) dim sum fix with a side of alcohol! Recommend - chili + peanut wontons, beef tataki, and prawn + pork siu mai. The drinks here were pretty solid as well. There were several featured cocktails and ones that were on tap. As basic as I am, I had to get the Hello Kitty (Osaka) drink. It was very light, but had a good balance of flavors. I would really like to come back to try other cocktails with a bolder taste. Note - If youre staying for a late snack, check out the speakeasy (Blackbird Society) in the back after your meal. Its cozy and has a very intimate environment with the occasional live music. I recommend the magician drink for those who are looking for a neat little show!

I really hate we didn t get any pictures of the food we ordered because that s how bad it was. First off we accidentally found this place because we was waiting for our table at Stirr when the owner came out and grabbed us and said no wait here. While we had a 40 minute wait we decided to have a cocktail and a little appetizer to give this not so busy place a try. Why? The drinks is over priced and the food isn t real dim sum. It was a party of 7 so we ordered a chicken and waffles a 3 piece of the chicken bang bang I believe is the name, an order of the spring roll and fried rice. Chicken came out under cooked on both orders to the point when we took a piece off the bone blood came out. The rice has shrimp and pork so we asked to leave the pork out and up on arrival it still had pork in it. So we just ask for bill and instead of bringing our bill they just tried to run our card without our approval because they still wanted to charge us for the whole bill. The manager/owner heard everything that was going on and never approached our table to apologize, matter of fact I was looking for him as we was leaving and never seen him on the floor again. Now mind you when we was ordering he checked on our table twice even told a story about visiting my city before. But to sum it up we had a 130 dollar bill for 3 cocktails 4 sprites, spring rolls and a kids size bowl of rice, they will never get a dime from anyone I know just pass by even if the music grabs your attention. O let me not forget they tip their self 20%

The food was also delicious and aesthetically appealing! Despite the hiccup with getting us a table, they were able to remedy the situation with a quickness and professionalism. Great customer service

This is a really good place to try!! I think it would be perfect for a group of 3-4 to really share a lot of things, however my husband and I were really happy with the amount of things we tried! I loved the egg rolls (they re gluten-free!) and beef tataki in particular. Of course the dumplings were great. I liked the atmosphere a lot too- it s really pretty inside! Definitely recommend!

One of the best meals and dining experiences that I have had lately. We arrived and were immediately greeted and seated. We had some amazing cocktails served creatively and thumbs up to the mixologist! The food was stellar! Each dish continued to wow me. The dumplings were some of the best that I ve ever had. When you visit, you have to ask about the secret menu. You will be very happy that you did. Happy eating!

Not all that impressive. The fried foods were good, the others were okay and the fresh salmon was literally frozen with ice granules in them. The salmon meal also didnt come with the kale chips as the menu said and when we asked our waiter he told us that it came the way it was supposed to but he would ask....the manager then came over and said his kale had gone bad and they would discount the meal (which they did not but then as we hung around chatting they brought free tiny mochi ice cream in lieu of the discount and it was subpar). The biggest issue was honestly the bartending, it took between 10-20 mins to get a drink each time - whether that was a mixed drink or just a glass of wine. At one point we even asked our waiter to ask the bartender, who was literally standing around drying glasses instead of making our drinks, to make our drinks when it had been about 20 mins. We did go have a few cocktails in the speak-easy, which is a cool concept. The drinks were overpriced and weak. It was $60 for 3 drinks. The music was a mix of early 2000s and old showtime-y music and was way too loud. I started this review intending on leaving a 3 star but as I type this out I realize the only thing that was actually decent was 2-3 fried options....so Im knocking it down to 2 stars. I dont see this place lasting past everyone ordering the IG Hello Kitty drink and never returning.

Cool spot with okay food. Went on a Friday night and the live music was...loud. We left as soon as we could after eating to find somewhere quiet. The server said something wasnt on the menu, but it was. The beef puffs were great. You can skip the curry chicken and chili wontons.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the food and drinks were ok. The server didn t seem to know what was or wasn t on the menu, but my real complaint was how horribly loud it was here. DO NOT dine here on Friday nights the live music is ridiculously like seriously painfully loud. No one could hear anyone not even my server could hear what I was saying. Everyone was screaming over the music the entire night it felt so overwhelming and chaotic. The band itself wasn t bad it just wasn t the right setting for how loud the music is. Take out the singer or take the mic off the saxophone or something please just turn it down, and please stop playing Michael Jackson.

Dallas doesnt yet have many great NYC style restaurants, or dumplings (outside of Royal China), so was very happy to find Neon Kitten. The service was spot on, the drinks were great, and the dim sum was excellent. The ambiance was fun and quirky. This will quickly become a regular spot. They just need some soupy dumplings.

This is one of the best ever restaurants/bars I ve been to. On top of the cute ambiance and cute drinks, the food and the service was impeccable. Everyone made us feel so comfortable, warm, and overall we had such an enjoyable time. The servers had banter with us, especially Scott. Even thought they were understaffed due to COVID, we did not wait long for the food or drinks, they d always check up on us to make sure everything was good which it was. The food was fresh with exquisite flavors and even thought we couldn t decide, Scott chose an amazing combination of delicious dishes for us. I m definitely coming back here again, especially to reorder the HelloKitty drink! 10/10 place that everyone should go to!

We got really lucky eating here Sunday evening. There was no wait at all. In fact, the place was empty. Usually Id take that as a bad sign, however, the food and service was great. My favorite was the morel shrimp dumplings and salmon sushi. Delicious!! Service was great and friendly. It was good, but I doubt Ill come for a second visit since there was only 2 memorable food items for me; but that doesnt mean you shouldnt try it.

Came in, thought it was the entrance to the arcade, out of all beer except bud, bud light and michelob ultra. Had a draft cocktail for $14 and the added aperol without asking for $3 more. After that I had a $7 beer. After tip, $30. Not great. Also, they lost their YouTube Tv feed during the NCAA football championship. Kind of a miss.

At first I thought Neon Kitten was all IG hype. Now Im convinced its one of my favorite new bars in Dallas. The cute decor, friendly service and unique food and drink options make for a great stop. I wish their patio was as cool as the rest of the building but it doesnt change my thoughts on the place.

Neon Kitten s presentation is on point! Their staff gave us a warm welcome and were super friendly. The dim-sum has a nice twist to it and their beef tataki is delicious, but their drinks and sushi were just ok. The problem was their ventilation system was awful - by the end of the night we were choking from the smoke from their grill (to be fair, I have asthma, so that s probably why it affected me so much). Not sure if they were having an issue with their ventilation system or if it s always like that. I would recommend checking them out, but if you have asthma you might want to sit in their outdoor patio area.

Parking is a beast in the area although the parking lot wasnt too far a walk. We actually passed the restaurant since there wasnt a sign. When you walk in youre greeted by all the customers and staff members so forget about shying away, theres no time. We had outdoor seating but it was rather cozy and great for hanging out especially if your party is a little louder. We ordered their infamous cocktail served in a Hello Kitty. So cute, we got our IG worthy photos and Snaps for days. Servers were nice. We ordered a little bit of everything. The cocktails were definitely the main attraction and food was for eating during or after a few drinks.

Visited for the first time an Ill tell you look for the blue walls and pink flowers. Late at night Neon Kitten is difficult to spot but i think that makes it even more worth to find it. Again Neon Kitten doesnt have any marks but when you enter the entire room erupts in greetings. The Osaka (Hello Kitty glass) is a must and as a yellowtail fan youll love the Yellowtail Jalepaneo. Reserve in advance and this place is perfect for date night and hanging with friends.
