Crow is worth a visit if youre in the arts district. I love how its played out with stairs and a bridge that lets you look down on the fountain. They rotate the collections and its free. If they charge $10 Id happily pay it. Ive a few enjoyable hours there. If Im going to the Nasher Im stopping by the Crow.

I really enjoyed the Japanese ceramics collection showcasing works of the Mingei Movement however, I m having a hard time enjoying the museum while the staff on the upper level and lower level are discussing someone s love life in detail and swearing, all while patrons are walking between the area. The area that holds the ceramics collection echos vastly and the discussion can be heard from the furthest areas of the room. Such a distraction and show of disrespect to the collector, the culture and the patrons. Didn t get to finish a decent portion of the exhibit due to this behaviour.

I don t know if we went to the wrong venue, or if the artworks on display were divided into different time periods. Although it was said to be an Asian Art Museum, on the day we went, the exhibitions on display were basically Japanese Meiji and Thousand Years of Art. There are some art exhibits from the household period, but no art exhibits from other Asian countries. But this art museum is still very good. It displays a lot of clothing, statues, tea sets, etc. from Japan. The art museum is also free. If you are traveling to downtown Dallas, you can really come and take a look. It is still very good.

Even if you have no interest in decorative Japanese arts, you should come just for the amazing architecture of this museum. And if, like me, you love Asian arts and architecture, you ll be in heaven! The unique design of this museum only highlights its wonderful assembly of items. Each is well labeled so you know exactly what you re looking at. The collection has pieces dating from the beginning of pottery in Japan to modern day. There s also wood, metal, and fabric arts represented. And it s free. There s no reason not to go!

I attended this Batik workshop and Indonesian fashion show. All they ask from you is that you check you large bags in, and that you provide them with a zip code.

The Crow Museum in Dallas is an enchanting destination that offers an immersive experience into the rich tapestry of Asian art and culture. Nestled in the heart of the city, this gem of a museum captivates visitors with its diverse collection, engaging exhibits, and serene ambiance. Having recently visited, I found myself thoroughly impressed by the museums offerings. One of the most striking aspects of the Crow Museum is its collection of Asian art. Spanning centuries and encompassing a wide range of mediums, the pieces on display showcase the beauty, intricacy, and diversity of the continents artistic traditions. From delicate porcelain and breathtaking calligraphy to vibrant paintings and awe-inspiring sculptures, every corner of the museum is adorned with treasures waiting to be discovered.

My family and I went this afternoon to the Crow Museum of Asian Art. There was a man who was an employee that followed us around the first floor. I had to say excuse me in order to read the museum label on the wall describing the art work. I m not sure if it was due to our 9 year old going off to read by himself. However, It was very uncomfortable for my family and I. He never engage or asked if we had questions which we didn t expect but he was on our heel everywhere we turned. We felt so uncomfortable we went up to the second floor. While the staff members up there only roamed about the floor we never felt as though we were being watched or felt their presence on every section of the exhibit. My son even questioned why is he following us. Needless to say we only enjoyed half of the exhibit. We probably won t return due to the uncomfortable feeling of being watched. Overall, the pieces were beautiful. We can t wait for the exhibit to open on UTD campus. Hopefully, we will have a different experience there.

I wasnt able to stay as long as I wish I could have, due to early closing hours, so I went through the museum fairly quickly, but still giving 5 stars because it was gorgeous. Well placed artifacts and informative namecards. I especially loved the textile art and the way it was displayed. The direction/flow could have been more intuitive, as I got turned around a couple of times trying not to miss anything. You exit through a little gift shop/library that I really would have loved to spend a little time in and enjoy. Cant wait to go back!

We park and go through a building to get to a security desk to ask for access to some special ramp and when security calls (and they answer!) they tell him they are going to close. Myself and my girls, both under 10 enjoyed it very much. Some people may be underwhelmed comparing it large museums like the DMA but this intimate setting is amazing to really get a close look at the art on display. We were in for the Divine Spark: Kana Harada exbit as well as the Born of Fire: Contemporary Japanese Women Ceramic Artists exibit and my girls enjoyed them both so very much. The front receptionist was so very kind, offered free masks and even gave a bag check for our belongs to not carry them through out the museum. I appreciate how kind all of the staff were and the art was beautiful as always. I love coming here once or twice a year to see the changing exsibits. Amazing display of Asian Art.

NOTE ON PARKING: We went here July 24, 2021 on a Saturday and parked at Trammell Crow Center. They charged us $10 even though on the website it says $5 flat for Saturdays. The museum itself was nice, very well maintained, and quiet. I recommend pairing it with a trip to DMA or something because it s a bit small.

It was just ok, had some nice art but only one side was open. Not what we expected.

Nice small museum. At first it looks very small because of the one room just off of the reception desk. But then you discover there are 3 floors of the museum. Difficulty parking. Only on street parking is available. However come of this is a free museum in a nice way to spend a few hours.

My favorite museum in Dallas! Nice setting and ambience, not too big, lots of pieces in a smaller but upscale place with good lighting and piece history. There were people working there who will answer questions about exhibit pieces. The pieces were really extraordinary too! Lovely museum of art from all over Asia with a broad variety of mediums on display. All eras , ancient to contemporary. Even some old structures and doors on display. Oh and not to mention that entry is totally free!
