The Dallas World Aquarium

About the Company

rating: 4.4

The adventure at The Dallas World Aquarium begins at the top of the rainforest exhibit, where exotic birds, such as Cocks-of-the-rock and many species of toucans, can be seen. Lounging around are Two-toed and Three-toed sloths. Endangered animals, such as Orinoco crocodiles, Giant river otters, Antillean manatees and several species of monkeys are part of the many conservation projects. The aquarium portion displays interesting marine life, including Japanese crabs, jellyfish, Leafy, Weedy and Ribbon seadragons. Black-footed and Blue penguins can be seen swimming as guests enjoy the outdoor South Africa exhibit. Sharks, rays and sawfish are only a few of the fish living in the Mundo Maya cenote.

This was definitely a cool spot in Dallas. I love exploring zoos and aquariums on my own because there is just such peace especially at an aquarium. But this was such a cool space as you start all the way up and work your way all the way down. So many varieties of fish and other sea creatures plus a mixture of birds and some mammals. Definitely would come back again with my family.

Not much knowledge about the Dallas World Aquarium prior to this visit. You start on the top floor in the rain forest where the caged birds and animals are kept and work your way down to the fish on the first floor.

Everything was so close up , it felt like walking into a rainforest , we got to see so much animals , staff was amazing super nice , the only bad thing was in certain areas it smelled a lot like rat poo and we got to see them in exhibits with the birds, even eating the fruit , wouldn t recommend eating food there if the rats are all over the place,

This aquarium is beautifully decorated with plants which I was super excited to see- the gift shop should consider selling cuttings/propagations of some of the plants used in the exhibits! There was a good collection of animals, however I do feel that the admission price is a little higher than I would expect given the number of animals/exhibits. It felt pretty small/fast to get through, and I think there may have been more land animal exhibits than aquariums/tanks. A lot of the windows/tanks were hard to see into due to handprints and other debris. I dont feel like there was much information provided on the animals- there were some small screens with info and pictures on them, and some old-looking laminated note-cards, but no plaques or anything that I typically like to stop and read. There also werent really interactive moments, whereas other aquariums have touch pools and live meet and greets with animals. Overall I was happy with my visit, but am not sure I would return unless it was for an adult only event.

The aquarium is located in Dallas downtown so they have limited space. With that constraint they have laid out the path within aquarium pretty good to manage crowd. Despite of that you will still end up in queues in crowded space during weekend visit. I would say the place is very good with ample number of exhibits with varieties of fishes and animals. But you should visit on weekday to avoid crowds. The parking lot is next to aquarium.

Went with my neice and her kids. Great get away on a rainy day. Lots of freshwater fish, amphibians, birds, and reptiles with a few mammals. The plantings are nice and keep to the tropical and cloud forest theme. The signage could use a revamp. The video screens give minimal info and do not cover all the living collections. Signage for plants would also be nice. Stationary QR codes at every station would help if new signage is cost prohibitive.

Highlight of our Dallas trip for sure! Honestly, I think they lose business because this is NOT just an aquarium, its an awesome indoor zoo with birds flying overhead, tons of interesting exotic animals, and atmospheric geological zoning. If youre between SEA LIFE and this, they both have 360 tunnels! Please add descriptions to the habitats though! Not enough info to read about them

This might be the most depressing aquarium i ve ever been to, these animals looked like they wanted to go die. I would too if I was trapped in such a horrible place. I don t think anybody should go to this aquarium. The penguins looked so sad I wanted to jump in there and set them free. This place made me feel disgusting. Worst aquarium ever. The only happy animal was a manatee but of course they are always happy. I seen a fish whose skin was coming completely off. Please don t bring your kids here unless you want them to experience sad and depressed animals.

This zoo is a personal menagerie, nothing more. The amount of animal deaths here is beyond alarming. Keeping wild animals in such a small, concentrated space is objectively cruel and a lot of them cannot and do not thrive. Don t support this place. It s haunted by all the animals that had to die to make it seem so immersive and unique. If you patron this place, you re funding that continual suffering.

Everything is indoors except for the penguin exhibit, so it s a great place to visit no matter the weather. The natural lighting throughout the space really added to the atmosphere, and we loved following the trail that guides you through the exhibits. The kids had an amazing time and were completely engaged the whole visit. Definitely a must-see for families in the area!

A fascinating destination for lovers of marine life and exotic fauna. Located in the heart of Dallas, this aquarium is much more than just a place to see fish. Upon entering, you are immersed in an environment that simulates various ecosystems of the world, from tropical jungles to deep oceans. The aquarium is home to an impressive collection of species, including rays, sharks, and colorful tropical fish. One of the highlighted attractions is the habitat of manatees and exotic birds that you can see in an environment that imitates their natural habitat. There is also a panoramic tour through an underwater tunnel where you can observe marine life from a unique perspective, surrounded by fish swimming above you. The experience is educational and immersive, ideal for families and visitors of all ages. Additionally, the aquarium offers interactive activities and exhibits that make learning about marine life fun and accessible. I recommend visiting the aquarium during the morning to avoid crowds and make the most of the exhibits. A visit to the Dallas World Aquarium is an exciting adventure that connects you to the beauty and diversity of the natural world!

The main complaint I want to make is that I found an exit that was not secured from the outside. I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that crowded the aquarium. So after looking at what I could. I needed to get out. I exited a side door. And out of curiosity I opened the door from the outside and it opened. I felt uncomfortable and unsafe immediately. To think that an entrance to the building was unlocked and no security to keep people from coming in was enough to ruin my whole experience. The overcrowded building was one thing, it was Labor Day weekend. Do not go on Labor Day. BUT the issue of an unsecured entrance could have been devastating. So many people unaware of the safety risk. What if a gun man came in? What if a kidnapper found their way inside? The lack of security is unforgivable. Also, the company packing so many people inside was terrible. There were so many people who were disrespectful to the animals. Adults banging on the cages of birds, children putting their hand in tanks with potentially dangerous animals. This is not a petting zoo. The poor animals deserve better than what I witnessed. AND that was just the first 30 minutes of my experience. There was a noticeable lack of staff to help anyone. I wish I could get a refund due to how many people were inside the building, it was uncomfortable, but I m not going to try. It is what it is. I only enjoyed a quarter of the exhibits. The animals are so lovable and worth seeing. I actually like this place and hope it changes for the better. Also if you buy tickets online the time does not matter, it s a free roam. I would just buy at the gate. The only reason to buy online is to get the prepaid parking.

It tired and dirty. They oversold it, there was so many people, so many that you can t stop to lookup a bird or fish to learn about it. Oh also they don t have info on anything. Don t go, save your money. Oh it also smelled like urine most of the time.

Our little one seems to enjoy the tour. There were sooooo many people during the Labor Day weekend, one time i found myself shoulder to shoulder with everyone and it s almost impossible to see anything But when it s not so crowded, the experience was much better. If possible, pick a date the DWA is not too busy so you can get the most of the experience.

Do not go on a holiday weekend. It was wayyyyy too packed. Aquarium has a lot of diverse animals in a tight space but I would call it more of an indoor zoo then an aquarium. Had to leave 20 minutes in because everyone was stuck on the third floor and it was not moving. Too crowded and tight for strollers so I had to collapse ours and carry it down the emergency exit. The aquarium should be restricted to a certain number of guests at a time. Thank goodness the staff and managers were kind and refunded us. Recommend going on a week day when kids are in school.

If I could give somewhere negative stars I would. This was absolutely awful experience. Talk about a fire code violation. People were so packed in you couldn t move. The lines were outrageous even if you bought a ticket online beforehand. It should have been limited. This was the worst experience I have ever had at an aquarium. Talk about being unprepared for crowds with no traffic control or flow at all.

Way, way to crowded today Labor Day Weekend. They should limit the amount of people or something. It was elbow to elbow full of people.

This should not be called an aquarium. Most of the featured tanks are all fish you can see at a local fish store. Little to no coral diversity. There are more birds and miscellaneous animals than actual aquarium exhibits. The restrooms don t match the need for the amount of traffic they receive. The place is actually so over crowded with no signs indicating how foot traffic flow should be causing jams. The exhibits were okay and the animals looked healthy and that s why I give it 3 stars. The price and quality of AQUARIUM I give it a 1 star.

It was incredibly crowded. They take in 3 times more people than the capacity, its pure greed. You have to walk shoulder to shoulder step by step. And theres not that much to see.

I havent been to the DWA since middle school, and so I was super excited to finally come back. Lets just say this place did NOT disappoint! Other than a few small animals, every other animal was out in all its glory for everyone to see. It took about two hours to go through the entire place (not counting the gift shop), and within the little book they give you, there is a map so you dont get lost. It was such an awesome experience to have and share with my family. They had birds freely flying around in certain areas, a sloth that was out in the open on a beautiful tree, and a HUGE crocodile that wasnt behind glass, all of which were so cool to see like that. We got there when they opened, didnt get any food or drink, the restrooms were VERY clean as well as the whole aquarium. We will definitely be coming back very soon.

SUPER WELL DONE, this is a great exhibit, part zoo, part aquarium. really well laid out and they seemed to use all the available space. It is a LOT bigger on the inside than it looks. all the animals seemed happy and healthy. Definitely worth going more than once..
