I was initially drawn to Origin by a previous review saying there was vegan queso. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the menu offered multiple vegan options. I ended up ordering the mushroom risotto as well. The vegan queso was accompanied by unique chips - possibly homemade potato or carrot slices? Im not sure, but they were delicious! The mushroom risotto was a great balance between rich and refreshing, topped with pickled onions and micro greens. Anthony, deserves a special mention too - his attentive service and friendly demeanor significantly enhanced the experience!

We loved this place, but my favorite part about the restaurant is that they are proudly seed oil free. If anything is fried it is done so in coconut oil. So happy to find a place that s transparent about the ingredients they use! A wonderful healthier dine out option. Kid-friendliness: They were welcoming to my toddler and made us feel welcome. The kids menu was great too

Everything is great here until you get the check. They have unspoken hidden fees. Sometimes its displayed. Sometimes it isnt. If you make a take out order. They charge a $5.95 fee for that. Everything seems to be geared towards nickel and diming their customers. When you pay for your check. The bill is cheaper for cash and theres a total for if you use credit card.. no option on debit cards as they get treated as credit cards. The thing is the credit card total is higher, but youre not really given the amount or charge of the fee to use a credit card. Normally places that so this tend to have low revenue relative to the credit card fees. And while this looks good on paper to do. It eventually starts leaving. Sour aftertaste as I feel I was just overcharged on food simply because I happen to have a disability (celiac disease)... I get that gluten free options is trendy for some. But a lot of us on it are on it due to a medical condition. While making gluten free fried chicken or fried country steak can mean increased costs. It isnt that much more expensive. I would be fine on the credit card fee if they notify you about it prior to making the decision to eat here. There are no signs, no notices on the menus. Likewise if you make a take out order theres no freaking notification that ordering takeout also means you gotta pay a takeout fee on top of the credit fee. Essentially youll be overcharged on fabricated fees. Now regulars might know this, but for people who come here to try something new. Will. be totally blindsided.

Origin has been on my bucket list for a long time! And it DID NOT disappoint. We went on a Sunday around 1pm. The service was TOP NOTCH, and so accomodating. I couldn t decide what to order with SO MANY GF CHOICES!! I landed with the Cobb and some kind of spicy chicken, that was superb. Friends had a burger and French toast. The cashew queso was amazing. I HIGHLY recommend Origin. Dietary restrictions: Tons of gluten free option. The staff was so helpful.

I usually dine here as a treat to myself and this time I wanted to bring my fiance for the first time. It was a weekend so it was busier than normal. Our wait times for food took over an hour.. we ordered pancakes and omelettes. As we waited we saw 4 roaches in which one happened to scurry right past me at the bar. The server/ bartender offered to cancel our orders because of this incident however, we were already waiting for almost an hour. I grew uncomfortable that I just asked for everything to go. I was still charged full price until I told the manager about the roach incident and he offered to give us a discount which was appreciated. However, as a server at a five star restaurant, if my guest ever went through this there s not a chance I would charge them a dime for their meal. The entire process was such an inconvenience and I could feel as my server grew annoyed and irritated by the end of the meal. I won t be dining here again, but really love the entire concept.

The service was amazing, it gets busy, so be willing to wait for a little while until your food gets out. The prices are a bit in the higher side, but it is understandable due to the area in which they are located. I would definitely recommend this place and I will come back. I go to Origin Kitchen for good, gluten free cuisine. Let me say that Armando, our server, was great but during our visit I found that my bill was a bit more than expected. I had to ask for an itemized receipt. It showed that I was overcharged for one item and charged a fee for paying with a credit card. I double checked the restaurant and menu for notice about the credit card fee. There is none. It also doesnt show on the receipt. Your total just ends up being more than the total price of your items and tax. Most people wont notice if they arent doing the math. I dont think this is an honest way to run a business. I was going to accept the fee, but not the overcharge on the one item. As I sat waiting for the manager to rerun the check, I was informed that the manager had stepped out of the restaurant but would return shortly. After a few minutes, I just left. I had already paid the check with the overcharge of course, but did not yet sign or write my tip in, as I was waiting for a correctly charged charge slip.

This place isn t cheap $40ish per plate when it s all said and done, but unlike many places these days you leave feeling good about it. The entire staff is incredibly knowledgeable about all allergies and they are a celiac friendly restaurant. We went twice, once for dinner and again for breakfast and both were amazing. I cannot stress how good it was and I m happy to pay a bit more to keep my celiac kid healthy (and you have the added benefit of a place using good ingredients and refusing to use seed oils). They re willing to change ingredients (rice flour vs almond flour etc) based on your desires. In short it costs more because it s worth it! Whether you have dietary restrictions or not, this is worth a try. It isn t good for gluten free , it s just good hard stop. Dietary restrictions: They re awesome!

This place offered a very diverse menu for gluten-free and Paleo options. However, the service is what was lacking during this visit. The server came over to give us water and he was very friendly and chatty at first, but it took him a long time to come back to take our order. But the time we placed our order, the restaurant had started filling up because it was the lunch hour. My sister s food came out first, which was a Paleo waffle. Great. 12 to 13 minutes later my meal came out. Not cool! I told her to start eating because I didn t want it to get cold, and she took a couple bites and thought it tasted a little bit burnt. However, no server came back to check on us. Did my food came, but yet nobody came to check on her waffle situation, so by the time they did, and she placed a new order we had to wait another 20 minutes for them to make her replacement meal. Or at least it felt like that. What we thought was going to be a quick, In-N-Out breakfast, no more than 30 minutes, turned into an hour and 30 minutes. The food was just OK, but it did not wound me. At least they catered to allergens very well. I wish they were more attentive to their customer. Otherwise it was OK.

To say our experience was great would be a lie. Check-in girl needs to be reminded how to do her job, seating people without reservation before those who do is not the way to do it correctly. Waitress, don t forget your table responsibilities. The wait time on the order to come out was inexcusable. Nearly 45 minutes is horrible! Small businesses have to step up if you want better reviews. Especially in food services, there are other businesses just like yours waiting on you to mess up so they can take your spot, do better! Great potential here, just could t recognize it today. The experience I had with my friends was lackluster at best. We waited 20 minutes past our reservation time to be sat. When we were sat, we were sat at the table next to the door on 30 degree day (ie a very cold draft). The service was slow and the server made weird comments. We waited 15 mins just to put in our drink order, 20 mins for those drinks to come out. We re an hour in and still haven t placed a food order. We placed our food order and it took 40 mins to come out and it came out lukewarm, meaning it had sat under heat lamps for who knows how long. During this time, the server made multiple snarky comments about how much water we were drinking. (It s like we were waiting a long time to get anything we ordered or something ) Would not come back or recommend. TL;DR: Bad experience all around. If this is the best that Dallas had to offer for brunch, brunch in Dallas isn t worth anyone s time.

Visited for the first time with a girlfriend I hadnt seen in a while. We had a reservation for 10A. Our server had greeted two gentlemen seated next to me and let them know that she had a large table coming in at 11 and would get them in and out in an hour. They offered to sit at the bar and she said no it was fine. A few minutes later she comes by and greets me and is getting my coffee order and relays the same message about her large table just as my friend is arriving. Our food took a little longer which was fine but the rest of the meal she was hovering and more than once asked if wed like her to box up our food while we were still eating. She brings 2 separate checks without asking (also charged incorrectly but my friend insisted on paying both bills). Then a few min after 11 nicely says its after 11 - not trying to rush it but kinda am. Super awkward, we just left. Place is super cute, food was pretty good, but this experience was lacking in service to say the least.

Ambience and Service: Upon entering Origin Kitchen & Bar, the welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant s dedication to being celiac-friendly were immediately evident. The staff was generally friendly and attentive, creating a comfortable environment for a family brunch. Food Quality: The menu offered an appealing selection of brunch items, including gluten-free options. I opted for the gluten-free French toast, which, when initially served, looked delectable but raised suspicions due to the thickness of the bread. This prompted a double-check with the staff. Addressing Dietary Needs: As someone with celiac disease, it s crucial that restaurants understand and cater to gluten-free requirements. Initially, there was a concerning lapse when I was mistakenly served regular French toast instead of the gluten-free version. Fortunately, the error was quickly rectified upon speaking with the manager, and I was served the correct dish without further issues. Management Response: The manager s response to the mix-up was commendable. He was apologetic, understanding, and took immediate action to rectify the mistake. His decision to comp the meal was a generous gesture that was appreciated. Overall Experience: My experience at Origin Kitchen & Bar was a mix of highs and lows. The atmosphere and food quality were excellent, but the initial oversight regarding my gluten-free needs was a significant concern. The prompt and empathetic response from the management, however, did help in alleviating the situation. Recommendation for Fellow Diners: For others with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities, I recommend being extra vigilant and confirming with the wait staff about the gluten-free status of your meal. This experience underscores the importance of double-checking, even in establishments that advertise as celiac-friendly.

Wanted to love this place. Gave it three tries. FOOD is delicious! Service and kitchen need HELP. Service is slow. On third try at this place, it took 20 minutes to get my cappuccino. Took another 10 to get friends coffee drink orders correct. That s 30 minutes for just coffee, y all. Food also took about 30 minutes to get after placing order. That s now 60 minutes after arrival. 2 plates came at that time, and 2 plates lagged 5 minutes behind that. The 2 that came out late were also missing pancakes and avocados. Waiter was nice and attentive, though. This has basically been my experience each time here. If I eat here, therefore, I have to plan 90 to 120 minutes and just remain entirely patient. Ultimately, the 4-5 of us who were dining here monthly decided to change our monthly brunch establishment because we got tired of such issues, although we certainly love the paleo spin. Again, amazing and tasty food, though, every time it comes out late and the waiters are always kind; it just seems there isn t good coordination in the kitchen/coffee bar and/or that the place is understaffed or something.

Second visit to Dallas and second visit to this fine establishment! Great food! My wife has a few allergies and as some of you know that doesn t just effect them but your experience so that s awesome to see them going above and beyond. I had the shrimp and grits which was some of the best I ve ever had. The gluten free Mac & cheese was so good myself a gluten eater couldn t believe it was GF it was that good it might have been the best Mac & cheese I ve ever had. Awesome local beer selection for myself! Waiter was great and I actually really appreciate when a waiter tells me not to order a particular item because it s just not very good, that goes along way with me! Can t wait to come back

Absolute dream for anyone consciously aware of ingredients and quality of food. Really need Jess to open one in Fort Worth but I know we can make the drive to dallas for this gluten and dairy free friendly menu. My husband doesn t adhere to any dietary restrictions and he LOVED every thing we ordered, especially his chicken fried steak. Oh and the desserts are really worth the drive, unbelievably delicious!

Absolutely excellent! Awesome to have gluten free and fresh items at a restaurant. I had the gf almond flour chicken fried steak. Its a MUST have. I subbed the mash for sweet potatoes. Theyre super nice about subbing and you can do that with any item on the menu. You can tell a good restaurant when they know you but name (Im not from there, but they greeted multiple guests by name). Dietary restrictions: Paleo, gluten free, vegan

Props for offering grass fed meats and th good service but the food is bland and the consistency is off. Let me just share a bit of my background when it comes to reviews. My previous account had over 3k reviews and more than 10 million views. So I have been around to many places all over USA, MEXICO & CANADA. Let me start with the 1st bad experience, I asked the bar tender if he could recommend a sweet drink to what he gave us over 4 different drinks, and they were all as strong as they get. (If youre a heavy drinker, this might be of you liking) The waiter was annoyed when taking our order. Then, our meals came out with a 15-minute gap difference. We had to ask the hostess for sugar, limes, lemon, sal & pepper due to the lack of service. We asked if they could throw out 1/2 the Titos vodka-lemonade and pour regular lemonade to even out the strong taste, and the waiter said no... So we had to purchase a separate sparkling water to try and fix it ourselves. I wanted to get up and leave, but the full experience is a must for a good, honest review. I want to say the bad experience had something to do with my race, but either way, I will never be eating here again. P.S. The burger was the only good thing. Thank you all for reading, hope this helps someone out.

I happily contribute another five-star review. If you are gluten-free, nightshade-free, or both, dont miss this place! And theres plenty of wonderful things to eat here even if you dont have these sensitivities. Add a beautiful interior, super-friendly staff, and a lovely kids menu, and you have a perfect dining experience for the entire family. My family came back here twice during our trip and will immediately come here again on our next visit to Dallas. Dietary restrictions: If you are gluten-free, nightshade-free, or both, dont miss this place! Kid-friendliness: A lovely kids menu. Friendly staff who treat kids with respect. And bathrooms that dont have loud-flushing or automatic toilets. (Kids are often scared of these.)

This was my favorite brunch spot for years, and more recently Ive been disappointed in the experience. The food was so great and the menu is inclusive, but lately its been just okay. My last dining experience, we had just finished our meals and were asked by the staff to wrap up our conversation as they had another reservation coming in and they needed the table - after being there one hour and ten minutes. I get having caps on tables, but definitely would expect at least two hours. I didnt even get to finish and enjoy post brunch conversation. I will not be returning.
