There are no shopping carts on either side. The store is a mess. Extremely unorganized. Trash and empty boxes in a lot of isles. Line to pay was ridiculous!!!! Only 3 registeres open for a Sunday! I never look forward to coming to Academy!

Ian at the gun counter has been by far the WORST. Do Not deal with him. Very unknowledgable and he skipped over me and my fiancee 3 times. Said I was next then tried to say there was other people waiting. Excuse me, I was there waiting patiently you said I was next and you try to skip over me again? When you place an order online same day pickup it s never ready that day , when you call and follow up they tell you they are busy and then hang up the phone or simply don t answer when you try calling back. In store is not any better , the lines wrap around the entire store with 2 people trying to keep in together , management here is awful and something should be done about very few overworked employees

This is the first time Im posting a review for this store. I kept hoping it would improve, but each time I come back, it is the same. The clothes are totally disorganized, fitting rooms are full of stacks of clothes, no attendant to restock, no employees to fold and reorganize clothes, and a line almost all the way to the fishing gear. This is a Sunday afternoon, and 5 registers are open. Its very frustrating as a customer, and Im sure very frustrating and overwhelming to the staff that is actually here working.

(PLACED ORDER ON 8/12) Ive been waiting on my online order which is same day pick up for the last 3 days !!! Tuesday 8/13/24 When I called the customer service rep said I can cancel my order online and come in the store to re-purchase the item in store with no date of when my money would be bk on my credit card!! Then today I call again n the rep said that he was transferring me to the online dept and they keep picking up the phone n hanging up!! Its been 3 days for 1 item that I ordered for same day pick up and I still dont have the order!! This is the second time this has happened in a weeks time!! If I could I would have given zero stars If u know u are short staffed with getting out the same day pick up orders then dont have that as a option until u can fulfill your obligation!! But they didnt hesitate to take my money out of my account

Terrible mobile order service. Ordered a wicker patio furniture set. App said would be ready in 2 hours. Called 3 hours later and finally got a hold of someone after their number kept ending the call after a few rings. Was told they didnt have the staff to fulfill the order and would have it ready tomorrow. I told them there was a sign on the floor model saying it could be sold so told them I would stop by to pick it up myself. Mobile order worker told me they were bringing it around but 20min went by and still nobody came to the front. Another worker came by 10min later saying they didnt have anymore but i repeatedly told them I would take the floor model and so finally they brought it out. After loading it into my car I decided to count the cushions just to be on the safe side due to all the miscommunication the staff provided me the entire time. Turns out they shorted me 2 cushions and so I told them I would go to the exact spot the floor model was at myself to locate the missing cushions. I found them beside the floor model area somewhere else and took them out the store. Wouldnt recommend this service due to inventory misinformation and staff shortage regarding fulfilling mobile orders. Also one of the cushions had a stain and the other a large tear in the corner.

Checkout consistently takes 10-30 minutes. Several times Ive put my things back on the shelf and left because of this. In fact Im standing in line behind 30 people right now and the guy in front of me just left his cart and walked out. I dread going here because of this. I think they are losing a lot of potential business because the checkout process is so slow and painful. If we had a BassPro/Cabelas in town I wouldnt deal with this anymore. The only thing that brings me back is things like basic camping gear thats harder to find at other places. Update 7/29/2024 Standing in line with 30+ people. There are 3 registers open. Nothing has changed. The last 3 times I came here I walked out without buying anything and saw another person do the same. Im standing in line right now and the guy behind me said his brother did the same thing last time. Went in for a large item and loaded it on a cart. I left the cart to get a table on the next row and went back to find cart gone, large item on the floor and a drink I had brought in gone. Went to the front and a nice man told me people running around because of a store visit. I had noticed a bald male on the phone, obviously with a peer talking shop. Eventually I found him again and a cart full of items including a cap I was buying but my drink was gone (I had bought it earlier). He sees me rummaging through his cart of recovery merchandise and starts walking away. I called out to him twice, he looked at me and kept waking away. This is the store director. Very rude. Never acknowledged me, just kept talking to another person about internal business.

Me and my husband go here for kids school clothes/athletic clothes often. We have seen a steady decline in the stores appearance. Things that are not discounted are in the discounted racks. We get everything we THINK is discounted because again, it s on that rack, but it s not. So we end up having to pay the full price for things that are on the discounted rack. We won t be back. And they won t discount anything if you ask for the inconvenience.

We walked in to grab a second bathing suit on the way to the island. The selection was somewhat limited, but we finally found one that worked and headed to the front of the store. There were over 100 customers in line waiting to check out!!!! There were 6 cashiers and we were in line for 15 minutes before making it to the counter. When we got up there, the bathing suit didn t have a tag!!! The cashier had to call a manager, but she was too concerned about catching a spider to help us find a bathing suit with a tag or the price of the suit. The cashier, meanwhile, was looking at his phone trying to figure out what to order for lunch. We had enough and left empty handed. We found a bathing suit and sunscreen down the street at HEB Plus.

I went in there for an air pump early in the morning and was followed around the store in three different sections. At one point she stood at the front of the aisle to watch me shop. I am extremely disappointed with the staffing situation at this Academy Sports location. Every time I visit, it is never adequately staffed. Today, at 1:30 PM on a Sunday before the 4th of July, there were only two cashiers working, and the line had at least 100 people. The employees were clearly overwhelmed, and customers were visibly upset. It s unacceptable for these hardworking staff members to deal with such stress due to poor management. This store needs to significantly improve its staffing, especially during peak times. Until then, I cannot recommend shopping here.

They were a little busy but we got what we went for. They helped us load our equipment. The only thing they do not offer is delivery and setup. That would have been a perfect shopping experience. I did a same day in store pick up and ended up going in to the store myself and pulling my own items 3 days after order was made and paid for.. employees were very rude and didnt assist me at all..

Sucks corpus only has one academy because this one is the worst Ive gone to. Terrible management, short staffed in the front, and employees just look like they hate their job. happen to run into Richard at the front when asking how to go about exchanges, he aggressively snatched the receipt out of my hand and told me we were out of luck because I didnt get the shoes I walked in with tagged, I was unaware of the process but definitely didnt need the disrespect and aggression he showed me. Definitely wont be returning to this location.

What a joke. You got 6 managers standing at the front entrance with a check out line thats all the was back to the hunting department and 3 registers open. What the heck. I stopped by to make a $300+ dollar purchase but didnt feel like waiting in line for and hour. Get it together guys.

I blew out my flip-flops - not on a bottle top. Came to get them replaced. Had to stand in a long line for over 20 minutes with just two check outs open. Not cool. If I wasnt so desperate I would have Amazoned them. Now, you go do you, IF You have the time and patience to spare.

I have no idea how this place has 4 stars. Worst customer service, attitudes all around by merchandisers & cashiers. Always dirty bathrooms as well. No one ever offers help and everyone stands around looking at you like it s a freaking inconvenience you re even there. If you don t like your job don t work in customer service. I d rather drive all the way to San Antonio than go back to this store.

Reorganized. Clean building. More to see and offer. Sports equipment and clothing, hunting and fishing gear. Also , exercise equipment is available. There are clearance sections in the store. A variety of discounts are available. The clearance section signs cause confusion, prices dont match what is on clearance, and so items in the clearance section is not on clearance.

Walked in for Texas shirt n cap. Then walked to checkout and couldnt believe the line to pay. Looked like a snake. Ridiculous checkout process. I work for a major retail store and this is Ridiculous. Never again. Oh and I didnt buy anything I left.

If I could rate 0...I would..curbside staff? Corpus store needs major improvement- waited more then 30 min.... for a partial/ incomplete order. However, the Portland store- waited less than 5 minutes.- same amount of cars waiting too.???

Went in to purchase a BB gun. Guy behind gun counter would not come out to help me. He was more interested in talking to the macho men. Finally figured out what I needed and headed to checkout. Probably 30 people in line. 3 checkers open. Aisles looked like a convenience store with all the candy, chips, and energy drinks. Was in line for over 20 minutes. Wont go back.
