The staff service is terrible, phone calls, and the employees, they think they are the owners themselves, horrible, the responses, I do not suggest going to this place, not for the food, but for the staff, they should give the staff some training staff, how to be friendly and respectful on the phone.

I went to nursing school 2009-2010 at A&M and we would come here almost every week. My favorite was the seafood enchiladas with scallops, fish, and shrimp. Moving back to Dallas and even travelling to other seaside places...Hawaii...Florida....I have never seen anything close to that on the menu and have been searching for it ever since. I cant wait to go back and I hope they still have it and make it the same!! I would pay for it to be delivered, lol!

really unpleasant experience at my first and last time here. a couple of single chalupas a la carte are a whopping near $15 to which i was unallowed to cancel my order and they offered a $5 discount instead which is fine. i just didn t feel justified paying that much for what s usually maybe like $7 elsewhere. i just wanted to stop for a quick inexpensive dinner to-go. when i ordered my food prior, i asked the server for chalupas with only beans, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. the server said that s how it comes but without the onions, so add onions, got it. she was really sweet and i hated having to trouble her about the pricing afterwards. nonetheless, i get the food, go home, ready to dig in, and open my box to see there is guacamole on my chalupas. i really don t like avocado. i call the store, and ask to speak to the owner again, who i had just spoken to at the restaurant about their pricing. i m put on hold, then the call hangs up. i call back, a man picks up, i reiterate that i was the one who was put on hold waiting for the owner, then they say yes how can i help? i explain that my order was made incorrectly, and he says their chalupas have always come with guac. i explain that the server told me otherwise which i m sure was just a miscommunication, and that either way i told her what i only wanted on my chalupas was x y z. and that i would really like the rest of my money back at this point. the person on the phone who i m assuming is to be the owner i requested to speak to, says to come back tomorrow with my receipt and my debit card so he can void the transaction for me. i said i can take pictures of my food if he needs it since it will be the next day by then and the food needs to be thrown out, and he said i don t need that, all i need is you to come in person with your receipt and debit card and i ll take care of it . great! so the next day, i come with my receipt and my debit card as requested, and the owner is looking at me like i m crazy. saying he never spoke to me on the phone and that he can t refund me without the product. ??? basically everything that the owner starts telling me is opposite of what i was told on the phone. i don t even know why i would be speaking to anyone else on the phone if i requested the owner. the owner says i already gave you a discount . yeah, when what i REALLY wanted was to cancel my order. and even if i hadn t gotten a discount, i still would have went home with an incorrectly made order and want a refund anyway. the person on the phone who may or may not have been the owner, i don t know anymore, was EXTREMELY clear as to what i needed to do and how he would help me. and if that wasn t the owner on the phone and was just an employee if i was the owner and my employee promised a customer assistance, and had them come ALL THE WAY back to the store for said assistance, i would follow through on what that employee promised and correct the employee afterwards if needed. telling a customer to drive down for a refund and then when they arrive, refusing the refund and turning them away? i don t know what kind of game they re playing, but it s not fun. i have a medical condition that makes it extremely hard to leave my house and causes high heart rate and dizziness with pretty much any task, so i really don t appreciate this happening here. i was turned away and told to dispute with my bank knowing fully well he s able to void the transaction (minus the discount) from their system in store. just pettiness and ridiculousness all around from the owner. i can t believe an owner would allow a customer to be put on a goose chase and not follow through on what one of their employees promised if it was even an employee and the owner wasn t just playing dumb. i m EXTREMELY disappointed with my experience here and will not be returning here again. overpriced and will not make things right when they mess up. on top of that, they ll ask you to use your time, energy, and gas to come in for compensation, just to turn you away.

If you like a musty smell, with a side or of dusty this might be your place! The Playa Mexican Restaurant needs a remodel, or paint and cleaned, very dusty in visible areas i cant imagine in other parts of place we cant see like kitchen! Food was not great but I dont like to complain much, we had mango margarita It was nasty, and i informed our server at end about the drink,to see if he could take off ticket . Long story short,they only took off $ 5 dollars . The server told me , I should have said something as soon as we got it.( I never do just because I dont want my food exposed to other ingredients ) In all just a warning not to go!

I took my dad here for Fathers Day, hoping for a special meal, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The artificial lemonade had an unpleasant taste, setting a poor tone from the start. My stuffed avocado with chicken arrived with a hair fried into the batter, which was quite off-putting. Additionally, the refried beans had a sour taste, and the rice lacked any discernible flavor. Considering the high prices, the quality of the food was disappointingly subpar. On a positive note, they did not charge me for the meal. Regrettably, I wont be returning.

With a light attendance on Memorial Day weekend, we thought our service would be good. Unfortunately, our waiter was more interested in his cell phone than his customers. If it hadnt been for a great busboy, I doubt if our food and beverages would have been delivered. Very disappointing for a restaurant that has been a favorite for many years!

Visited Sunday of Memorial day weekend. Sat in booth with the dusty dolphin lamp- should have been first clue that this place was nasty. Within a short time at the table my husband started became so ill he went to the restroom to throw up before leaving us to go to the hotel where he was sick the remainder of our vacation. Shortly after, my daughter and i both got up to go to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea.Whomever had been to the restroom before had apprently had the same issue!! WHen my daughter came out drying hands on shorts the manger on said no papertowels and she told him as well. We left the and i called the restaraunt . Spoke with three managers over then next 4 days who refused to rectify the situation. I will be reporting to health dept and BBB

We had the BEST time last night at the LA Playa mexican grill. The manager George is awesome and made sure our daughter in laws birthday was the best ever. The nachos were perfect, the Shrimp cocktail was the best ever and the stuffed avocados was very good. We shared the family platter with a huge sampling of dishes on it. There were ribs (yum), melt in your mouth fish, shrimp in a delicious sauce, fajitas, quail and more. Then a shared ice cream birthday dessert. THANK YOU GEORGE. EVERYONE should try it. You cant go wrong.

We went early at 5:50pm and got seated fast. We both had a great small margarita. Chips and two kinds of salsa were serve immediately. It was so cold inside there. So cold that we went to car and got a jacket and a beach towel to wrap ourselves in. I am sure the staff was comfortable though. We had a bit of a wait before waitress came back to take our order. I ordered the Stuffed Avocado Plate. My favorite in the past. I dont know who else does them. It was with chicken and so very good. the chicken inside it was moist and juicy. It came with the tortilla soup. Again, so good, but a bit salty. Plate also had a beef fajitas taco, rice and beans. The rice was good but the beans were too thin and flavorless. I ate so much I had to take home half the avocado and taco. We had a long wait for waitress to check us out. I dont know why the delays case the place is huge and only 4 table had guest at that hour. I think it could do better with refried beans and a little more rice and less salt in soup. I am sure I could have substituted the refried beans for a cup of charro beans but didnt think to do it. Thank for a pleasant waitress and good meal.

Tried it.. one and done with place.. wife ordered fajitas tacos.. didn t get what she ordered.. tacos could pour oil out of them for a good pool of oil in slop beans.. waiter never asked. She ate half a taco.. shells were burnt, chips were burnt..I ate 1 enchilada from the Mexican plate.. order on plate was not what menu said.. got a tostada instead of a chalupa like it said.. wife said she can t eat anything that oily.. I haven t eaten that much oil since I learned to close my mouth while changing oil on my truck.. seriously go somewhere else if you are from out of town.

I brought my girlfriend and my grandmother here thinking this would be a good spot. It was hands down some of the worst food Ive ever had. The chicken and beef fajitas had almost no flavor. The mole I had tasted more like a Hersheys chocolate bar was melted on to it. The corn tortilla used felt very leathery and I got sick to my stomach while eating and got food poisoning the next day. I highly recommend NOT eating here, especially when you can get much better quality food for half the price somewhere else. I personally would never come here again.

MAN! the raspberry margarita was SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOD! i have no idea who our waiter was but he was amazing. He constantly came and checked on us, this was good because often you will sit down and the waiter disappears and you have to constantly chase them down to get service. Ours was great. The Charro beans had no flavor would not recommend and the enchiladas Verdes are chopped chicken verse the shredded chicken the way I am use to eating them. Also the tortilla soup was not at all what we have in San Antonio! It had no flavor and mushrooms in it! Almost like being there! My verde enchiladas were great, altho I would have liked more sauce. The chicken was cubed rather than pulled, but not a big deal. Mole would have been good, but dont think it was on the menu. Husbands carne asada was wonderful with jalapenos and everything he likes. Weve eaten our way across Mexico and these meals were very close to what were used to. We will be back!

Went there once. Never again. They had that sign that says please wait to be seated but it was turned around and there was no one at the hostess podium, so we just went in and found a table. After a long while a male server finally came and got after me like I was a child and said I should ve waited to be seated. I said there s no one at the door and the sign was turned around.. he took our order and then we noticed he sent a girl to the hostess podium and they switched the sign back around. The food was great, service was great. But I have a problem with the restaurant. I accidentally left my Costa sunglasses, that was the only place myself and a friend went Saturday. I called the restaurant to see if they found my sunglasses. And to my surprise they said no. It makes me sad that people cant be honest and do the right thing.

Everything about this place was perfect. Chips and salsa as soon as we sat. Drinks out super fast and never emptied. Food was delicious. Service was awesome. Atmosphere was festive. Dont have a single negative thing to say. Definitely hit the top 3 favorite restaurants list!

It seemed like a great idea at first but I am regretting it now. My family and I ate here on our way back to San Antonio and I ordered a Carnitas torta (in which they gave me some sort of bistek first in which I wish I would have ate) that im pretty sure made me sick with food poisoning symptoms half way through my 3 hour car ride back to San Antonio.This place is extremely overpriced for the quantity and quality of food. We paid $13 for a simple cheese enchilada plate with beans and rice and another $2.50 for a watered down sweet tea. The roof was leaking all throughout the restaurant and halfway through our lunch the roof started leaking directly over my 7 month old niece and when we told our server she just nodded her head and walked away? The outside color of the restaurant resembles Pepto Bismol because that s what you re going to be needing after eating here. I also managed to take a picture of this huge patch of mold on the wall next to the table that we sat at that they didn t even seem to clean or atleast cover up. The only nice thing about this restaurant is the name.

Food is always great. Margaritas were so so. Service began very negatively with Sergio basically telling us we had 10 minutes to order food. We werent sure what we wanted right away and he walked off throwing his hand up in the air like Im done with you. Never came back. A nice young lady took care of us after that. But the dinner and atmosphere was already ruined. Been going there 15 years off and on and never experienced this kind of rudeness from wait staff.

Showed up 30 minutes before closing on a Friday night. The staff was very welcoming, sat down and ordered drinks while our host placed the chips and salsa on the table. Food was ready in 20 minutes, and they brought out some of the best food I have had in a while. The smothered burrito was amazing, the kids ate every bit of their enchiladas. Also a plate named la Chonita was amazing. Thank you for such a lovely and delicious dinner. I will definitely be stopping here every visit to Corpus
