Due to one EXTREMELY RUDE & DISRESPECTFUL staff at this museum (named K. Holmes on her badge), my experience was TERRIBLE and I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS MUSUEM EVER AGAIN! K. Holmes has been nothing but rude, unwelcoming, and treated me and my family as if we were TERRORISTS!!! Trying to write a Recap here of my experience! Me and my parents live in Houston & it was our first time visiting Corpus Christi. On Sunday after breakfast, we decided to explore Downtown Seawall and we noticed the Art Museum wasn t too far from the beach. As we were walking towards there the weather kept burning and we became dehydrated.! It was quite a long walk but we finally made it to the museum. I guess we were early that day I didn t realize the museum didn t open until 1PM on Sundays. It was around 11:30AM at the time we arrived. The gates were open so we went in and was greeted courteously by this nice man who even offered my mom a bottled water when he saw she was suffering from the heat. At that time I did not see K. Holmes. The nice gentleman (unfortunately I didn t get his name), greeted us in even though we were early and allowed us to sit and cool off from the heat outside. When I was got thirsty and went to ask the nice gentleman if he had an extra bottled water, that s when I ran into K. Holmes and her face towards me immediately seemed unwelcoming. And didn t like that the guy gave me one of his own water bottles. that he gave it from his own water bottles. Shortly after, me and my mom started to walk around the museum a little bit to pass some time, and, we came across a restaurant inside the museum that was open. The restaurant seemed very nice and I even asked the people who worked there if it was okay if we just look around and explore the restaurant since it also has a outdoor dining deck which was beautiful! The staff at the restaurant were really nice and said it was not a problem at all and that we could look around. They were very welcoming towards us. And we went to the outdoor area to take some pictures, and it wasn t a minute or so after that that K. Holmes came inside the restaurant, into the outdoor deck where me and my mom were taking pictures, in front of everyone, asked us are you guys going to eat here and I responded back saying no we asked if we can just look around and the staff says yes and she responded back saying if you re not going to order anything or eat anything here then I m gonna have to ask you all to leave. To avoid further harassment from her, we left the restaurant and then went back inside the entrance of the museum which is connected to the restaurant. what really upset me is she even followed me all the way to the restroom as if I was a terrorist or a criminal. That really upset me!

The museum has a beautiful location on the bay. Its a very nice building with kind workers. The museum was smaller than I thought it would be...you can make it through in an hour or so, and the photography is art exhibit was a little underwhelming, in my opinion. However, like most arts, its subjective and you may love it. That said, the permanent exhibits were beautiful...I especially liked the Spanish/Texan/Mexican art area and the sculptures. Upstairs they had work from local school children and some are very talented. It was fun to see what the local kids can do too!

Nice building and location, near the aircraft carrier Lexington and the harbor bridge. Also close to the aquarium and the science museum. This museum is photography centric but has some painting, mixed media, and sculptures as well. Here is currently a display of high school students art. There is a cafe onsite with views of the bay. Admission is $10 and $8 for seniors. We spent about an hour there.

The Art Museum of South Texas was a very enjoyable experience! My only suggestion is that when using the map there are certain galleries that appear to have names, but unfortunately in the museum itself a lot of those galleries were not clearly labeled which made navigating with the map confusing at first. Once I got my bearings I was able to discern where I was and was a bit underwhelmed by several galleries that were empty and a lot of art work was covered with plastic for protection against window dusting. Either way, the museum was enjoyable and presented some very thought invoking pieces of art. The art by the kids was probably amongst the best displays. A lot of future talent on the horizon! Once they finish cleaning up and fill the empty galleries I would love to revisit.

Some of the art pieces catch your attention. Good collection. You can cover the museum in about an hour. USS Lexington ship is close by. You could combine your trip cover long both these places.

The museum is free, maybe on every third Thursday. We are members so that doesn t really matter to us. This is a beautiful building. It has a great restaurant in it. The restaurant has wonderful views of the port. The art was interesting. We love to go down there every so often.
