If I could give this establishment a 0 for poor customer service, horrendous customer service, in fact, I would. We went in tonight (Sat. 10/21) around 7:45 to 8 PM. Keep in mind, I have never been to Hey Sugar before either so I didn t know what to expect. I ask the girl at the counter how much 1 of the items were and she rudely says I literally don t know like I would have to weigh it to even know and I say okay (she seemed very defensive about this simple question) and I ask if she thought the 1 tiny piece of candy would be more than $2 and she says no. So, I bring the item to the counter and she weighs it and proceeds to tell me it would be more than $3 for ONE chocolate rock. I tell her I m not interested in it anymore because it seems ridiculous to pay that for one small piece of candy, and she literally says to me What? You don t have $3? First of all, how dare you ask someone that? That is so far out of line. Her face and tone were FULL of judgement. And second of all, what if I or anyone else didn t have $3 to spend on the 1 piece of candy? She said we had to buy it, and I really didn t want to because of how rude she was, but my boyfriend is the kindest person on the planet and just offered to pay for it. But seriously, think about how you treat others and how your words affect people because you cannot make it very for in life if you continue to act this way and be disrespectful (and BLATANTLY RUDE for no reason????). DO BETTER.

After eating in Century Square on Sunday evening, went in for ice cream. Maybe the rudest young lady I ve encountered. My daughter wanted more ice cream the next day while shopping. Different young lady. She was nice after I asked for her opinion in flavor choices. Only two stars because the service on Sunday was so bad. Ice cream taste is OK. ~~A smile speaks volumes, and sure makes others feel welcome. ~~

Unfortunately, I need to leave a terrible review. This is not about the store and products but the staff. The owner needs to know who theyre hiring. As a business owner myself, I feel its important to hear. My husband & I had an amazing dinner at Porters just across walkway from Hey Sugar. This was just last week Wednesday evening May 10th at approximately 8:30 pm. We walked in and a young man was behind the counter with noise cancelling headphones on. No greeting whatsoever but ok then. Thats not the issue. After we checked out the cool old-fashioned candies, we walked over to the ice cream counter to order. Once making eye contact with the young man, he blew his nose out into the open air and picked his nostrils RIGHT IN FRONT OF US! Issue #1. Before we could ask anything, the young man immediately spoke up and said he doesnt serve ice cream 1 hour before closing because if he does serve 1 person then 50 more people will show up and this isnt good for his mental health. ISSUE #2! Isnt it the point to want as much business as possible before closing hours? As an owner, they need to know this person has no interest in hygiene nor generating any business for the cute store. Obviously, we changed our mind anyway after the nose picking event but shocked still on the not serving due to mental health comment. If mental health truly is an issue for this young man, then retail and service should probably not be his job or be left alone.

I went in a few days ago, and the customer service was really poor. The other times I ve gone, I havent had any issues with the service, but this time an employee had headphones on and couldnt hear me when I stood there waiting for a good amount of time. I tried to get his attention, but he was oblivious. I didnt catch the employees name, but it really made me upset that one of my favorite candy stores in cstat had such bad service.

The first time I visited here was by chance. I brought my daughter who wanted ice cream and my boyfriend who also wanted the fireball ice cream. Its nice to see that adults can also enjoy this place. It left a wonderful experience for my daughter. For me the staff is super friendly and kind. When my daughter asked to come here a second time for her birthday, even though we live in houston, I decided to come. Again the same staff lady was there, super kind and gentle like before. Tha k you for giving us a pleasant qnd memorable experience for my daughter.

What a frustrating experience! The candy in the store is of decent quality, but the execution of a candy store experience was miserable! Some college kids are lounging around behind the counter when you walk in, and they let you know that they can help you when you re all done trying to figure out their obscure system system of self service. They want to sell you candy by bulk without providing a scale or clear marking. Signage is small and not on the merchandise. After you have collected your mystery quantity while keeping your small child s hand from fondling all of the open bins that are precisely child height, while also replacing sticky obnoxious plastic gloves the while, you manage to get to the register which is 5 foot high so you have to lift your child so that they can see you purchasing the candy. You found out that you have about three times the dollar amount you expected, and then the credit card charge system has the audacity to request a tip for the college students who has been picking their nose gap mouthed all the while that you ve been there.

Wanted to thank this company for donating a gift card to our small school for their Fall Festival gift basket. This store has a great little set up with so many different options. I wish I hadnt forgot my credit card or I would have purchased a few things. But I will be back with y 4 kiddos!

Employees need to pay attention to their waffle cones the girl that serve me gave me a soggy waffle cone with a hole in the bottom she could of at least gave a good waffle cone also when i was checking out i asked for a bottle of water the young girl bend over to reach for it and I could see the whole moon NEVER BRINGING MY KIDS HERE EVER AGAIN!

Fun place but too expensive. Also some candy is obviously too old. I bought root beer barrels and they were very sticky. Some of the fruit slices were so old they were stuck to the bottom of the jar and you couldn t pry them out. Staff was nice.

Have been at least 5 times at this point, but never taken pictures because the goods are gone too fast. Curse my sweet tooth. Regardless, its consistently great. Candy by the pound; I highly recommend their sour gummy bears. I normally get some kind of craft root beer while I am there, and theyll sometimes have my favorite flavor of Ramune in stock as well. I got a malt once, it was delicious and they have some interesting flavors! Staff is always very friendly.

This place is fantastic! The selection of candy is out of this world. I love Jelly Belly jelly beans and they have tons of them. They had flavors of cotton candy that I d never even imagined (like root beer, PB&J and strawberry cheesecake). The young lady behind the counter (I hate that I didn t get her name) was very nice and super helpful. As far as price, I left spending way less than I thought I would. This will be my go to place from now on to get my candy fix!

I truly enjoyed my little visit here, the staff are friendly and approachable and the Texas 2-Step Icecream was AMAZING! (Dr. Pepper and Pralines, I never would have guessed that it would be so good!) The candy selection was positively overwhelming! I think I need to go back today just for another scoop of that amazing ice cream! One issue: If you are driving around looking for the place you wont find it. Its right behind Hopdoddys. They need a sign or something, I was so lost!

The sassy child working behind the ice cream counter told me that they did not have waffle cones, which I am assuming means he was too lazy to make one, because I saw the waffle machine plugged in behind him. During my last visit, the young lady was nice enough to make a fresh one. Then after repeating my order multiple times (cookie dough ice cream with chocolate chips on top), he served me vanilla ice cream and chocolate sprinkles! He was clearly more invested in cleaning up and getting ready to close (well before their closing time) than helping a customer. Very displeased.

Just want to highlight my recent experience at this store. I visited this store in College Station earlier today with my son and bought some candy. While browsing through the store my son dropped one of the boxes with jelly candies from the bottom shelf on this foot because it was loosely placed and started crying. I put the box back onto the shelf and picked up my son to comfort him. One of the store employees showed up to check if everything was ok (both with my son and with the inventory) and after making sure that both us and the inventory were ok left. We went to the register to check out, where I encountered the same employee. His behavior was strange to say the least. In fact it was quite offensive. He could not understand what I was saying to him thought the kids cry and decided to teach me English by showing me the bag and the machine that prints checks and saying ... this is the bag, this is the check, which one do you want .... After we walked out of the store and went quite far the same employee ran out of the store with a piece of debris (either plastic or glass) and started shouting that we broke something and that I need to pay for it. He also made several inappropriate comments about my accent and my ethnicity, pointing out that he does not understand me because I am a foreigner!!! Almost everything he said was straight on offensive and racist! When I asked for his supervisor, the supervisor of course was not available at the moment! The box that fall on the foot of my kid looked completely intact and in one piece when I put it back. As well as the same employee did not notice anything on his first walk through. This is the very first time I have visited the Hey Sugar Candy Store and perhaps this is going to be the last!!!

What a fascinating shop! I really enjoyed my visit. Saw some candy that I remember buying when I was a kid. I had a good time looking at the soda wall. Saw some sodas that I remember drinking when I was a kid. There Ive cream was fantastic, if I had been hungry I would have gotten a vanilla malted. The Texas whisky Ive cream I had was just perfect. The staff welcomes you when you walk in and when I paid, before I left the young lady behind the counter made me feel very appreciated. Nice addition to our shopping experience here in College Station.
