Have been a patient of Dr Gregory Moran for almost 20 years; I turned 65 this year and went on a Medicare advantage plan. Before I selected the insurance plan I made sure that he was on the list of providers. Made my appointment 2 months ago and 3 days before my appointment I get a call from Family Medical Associates that they don t take my Advance Plan insurance. They take the regular insurance from that same insurance company but not their Advantage Plan. So disappointed after 20 years as his patient they drop me like a hot potato. I guess they don t care about seniors. Regards Tim N.

I have been going to Family Medicine Associates of Texas for a while, and I feel as if the reviews on this platform arent authentic to the experience, so Ill do my best to write a non-biased review of my experience from start to finish. I rode an elevator to the top floor of a large hospital and was immediately greeted with a few friendly faces at the front desk. I remember it was Theresa, Echo and two others who helped me at the front. They were very friendly, if obviously overworked, and they made me feel welcome despite some obvious chaos. They all deserve raises for how efficient they were working, I know I wouldnt be handling it as well as they were. I had a very short wait time despite a crowded lobby. I had set an appointment up before I went and arrived on-time. I was called back to see Skylar Bluebird, who was just wonderful. Very nice, very understanding, and also clearly overworked. She was attentive to my needs, and we chatted about some medical news/prospective care options. I felt like my questions were answered by the time I had to leave, though it felt a little like I was being pushed out the door due to time constraints. Not Skylars fault, not even her wheelhouse. The people who work here as of right now are all wonderful at their jobs. I had zero complaints about any of the service I received, and zero complaints about the cleanliness of the establishment. I learned quickly that a little kindness goes a long way, and received excellent care and attention for it, even though I could tell I was taking up a little more of their time. I was escorted back to the front desk, checked out quickly, paid my bill, and left. Smooth, no hiccups, but there was a long line of incoming patients at the time I could tell was a stressor to the whole office. This is a direct message to management- I rated my experience 5 stars because the people working here are wonderful. My experience was poisoned, however, by an obvious air of stress and speed that I feel should knock a star or two off, but I didnt want to have that affect my review of the great people I meet during my visits. Hire some more people. Its clear that the problem with this location is that it is too popular- too many people come here, without enough support staff for the doctors, and things fall through the cracks. I will continue coming here as long as I can, but I fear for the future of my care if changes arent made. I hope the doctors can get some extra help so they can be more attentive to their individual patients. The lines are another problem, which can be alleviated by adding one or two people to that massive desk in front at peak hours. Alternatively, schedule more time for each appointment, 2-5 minutes extra each would make the experience exponentially better for your patients, and Im sure it would stress your staff out less. Which, again, I loved all of the staff and a single person missing would be obviously detrimental to my experience moving forward. I feel like Im becoming friends with the people here. It feels genuine, but theres always a constricting time limit to all of my interactions here. To the other people leaving reviews that, to me, seem exceptionally reductive and vindictive- be a better patient, and youll have a better experience.

Today I received the worst service from two ladies answering the phone. I know they are new because I have been coming here for over a decade and only recently has calling in has ever been an issue. Things have gone downhill in hiring for people upfront. They either have an attitude both in person or over the phone especially. They wouldn t let me pass a message to my doctor because that is not allowed. I ll make sure to let everyone know that currently goes here too and my family who wanted to return to this practice to not come back. I only stayed for Bethany, but I am definitely thinking now about finding care elsewhere. I also asked to speak to a supervisor and they put me on hold then said they are all in a meeting. Let s see how long it takes for ANYONE to call me back if that.

I should have checked out the reviews before scheduling an appointment here. I was seen for 2 minutes by the provider and had to wait 30 minutes after my appointment time after being asked to show up 30 minutes early.. so an hour total wait time to be seen for 2 minutes. I also asked to be seen for a new patient physical by Sophia the PA. That did not happen. I will not be coming back here or recommending this practice to anyone.

If you are looking for a place that will consistently nickel and dime you for any reason then look no further. Complete lack of communication from them other than just a letter in the mail stating how much you owe. Will approve tests despite not being covered by the insurance. Believe the recent reviews on this place, definitely gone downhill. I also think its very indicative of this place as professionals that they only respond to the positive reviews, and make NO attempt to respond/remedy any of the numerous negative experiences multiple people have had.

This practice has gone down hill. They will constantly miscommunicate with patients. Take days/weeks to fill a referral request. I received a bill mid/end of last year for a copay and thought it was weird since I hadn t been to the practice recently. I called and was told it was because I discussed back pain with my physician. To which I said oh that was at my 2nd part of my physical. Why am I being billed? I went on to explain I have years of history of back pain and my physician asked how my back has been feeling, no further treatment was done, nor referral nor script filled she didn t even touch me or do an exam. I was asked if I was disputing to which I said yes. Several days later I was told that it was waved. I continued to schedule visits at which no time was I questioned about a remaining balance. I called in today for some help with back dating my insurance so I can be reimbursed for payments and I m told I owe $30 for a visit last year (the payment that I was told was waved). Confused I explained the situation and was told I was never required to pay the outstanding balance since seeing the practice recently. The person said well they see no notes or activity and they must ve missed telling me about it. Lies. Bc I can tell you these greedy people ALWAYS make sure I pay before I can even schedule an appointment. I ve been going here since I was 14. Something has changed here even though the admin insisted she s been there 20 years and nothing has. Not only that but I didn t even get the help I called in for! But they sure can make sure to ask for money.. Which further proves my point, if this was a balance I ve owed since last year they would ve made sure to collect! they ve seen me face to face many times and now all of a sudden this charge re appears. Mind you I never received another bill since the amount was waved after I originally disputed it. They talk to you like you re crazy or lying and don t provide any level of care or understanding and that more than anything is what makes me upset apart from people just failing miserably to do their job. Laibstain was a god send and the only one that kept me there, I should ve left the minute she was no longer there. There s also one gentleman who is an X-ray tech who remembers me from the time I was a kid to pregnant to having my child. He is so friendly and always asks about my family. He s amazing and he always makes sure I m taken care of and will tell other staff, she s been here for years I ll take care of her. If only other staff showed that level of care.

After 5 years I have sadly decided that I will not come back to this clinic anymore due to billing department is RUDE. I received a statement balance for a certain amount, I called I setup a payment plan then I called my insurance to see why they did not cover the rest. Same day, My statement balance received a courtesy discount ONLY AFTER MY INSURANCE CALLED THEM TO INQUIRE MORE ABOUT THE DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICES. When I asked Leslie why the discount was done only after insurance and I tried to do more research about the services performed, she told me in a sarcastic way: I can put it back on to your account if thats what you want I told her this was not a professional answer and I requested the codes they used. According to my insurance, the clinic coded as if I had done my entire annual physical instead of cervical screening. REMEMBER: WE THE PATIENTS NEED AND WILL ALWAYS NEED HELP and the minimum you can do is showing empathy. Still not coming back. I was treated sarcastically and disrespectfully today.

I stated I wanted to make a new patient appointment and, I kid you not, she literally sighed & said um, most people just call I said ok...well, Im here and I would like to make an appointment. She slowly swiveled her chair around to grab a pamphlet behind her, slowly swiveled back to me, pushed it across the desk and said just call this number. Um, no maam. I think not. That kind of attitude does not inspire confidence in my medical providers. They might be great physicians but unfortunately I will never know because of this horrible first impression.

She is personable, professional, knowledgable, and best of all, punctual. The most amazing part is that its a rarity to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. Bethany and the entire Texas Family Medicine team are the best! More than 10 years later and Im still receiving 5-star service from Bethany and TX Family Medicine. Steer clear of this place. I was going through some serious medical issues for about 3 months and Dr.Moran failed me on every level. Not one time during this very challenging time did he call me and ask how I was doing or return any calls to his office. I would always get a call back from his nurse which was very rude. When I would ask for my doctor to please call me she always said he s busy with patients . I was going through serious issues and this guy could care less. Never in my life have I ever had a doctor that wouldn t call me if it was an emergency instead I would always get the gatekeeper his nurse and he s busy even though when I would go to his office there was hardly anyone waiting to be seen. The moment you step out of his office you re on your own. I ve never felt more failed by a medical provider in my life. He never once helped me or prescribed anything to make me better, wouldn t take my calls, never called me back, never showed any ounce of genuine care for my health. I ended up having to fire him as a doctor and seek a new primary care. What good is a primary care doctor if they can t be trusted to take care of you when you need them most?

Downhill for a while now. I started seeing Dr. Laibstein in 2018. She was wonderful, and FMA fired her along with several other MDs and PAs back when COVID restrictions were hitting med providers so hard. My experience with her was great. The doctor who took her place was a caring enough Dr., but getting my controlled prescription refilled was almost always a hassle. I dont know if theyre understaffed or what, but the delays and refusal from FMA to provide any kind of reminder system is pathetic. Its 2021. When I told them Id be changing providers, they sent me a certified letter in the mail telling me that they can no longer provide care for me due to a breakdown in the patient/doctor relationship. Meanwhile I havent even spoken to the doctor in 3 months+. A formality required of them? Maybe, but left an awful taste in my mouth. At least acknowledge that I was the one who decided to change providers, rather than sending a USPS certified letter telling me You cant fire me, I quit. Just not the same place it was a couple years ago. Highly recommend avoiding them, feels like bean counters and crotchety, out-of-touch old guys are at the top and patients are feeling the burden. Front desk staff is a mixed bag. Couple of cranky ones for sure, especially in billing (dont worry - I cant get a prescription refill in a timely manner, but FMA *ALWAYS* makes sure they get their money) but definitely some helpful friendly voices among the bunch. And yes, it is true that they force you to have a 2 part physical which I am not even sure how that is legal.

Gone done into the corporate toilet. Been coming here for over 20 years. All about the money. For example, the referral fees they get from a company named Phreesia that FMA requires a client to check in with prior to appointment. Then there is the mandatory pre-payment in advance of the co-pay. Then there is all the needless and confusing miscommunications from their electronic systems that apparently dont talk to each other. In fact, the so-called Patient Portal does not allow either one or two way communication; so what good is it? Everything in the last several years has gone downhill, from the friendly relaxed atmosphere to the ability to just have an honest 5-minutes chat without getting the impression that I am infringing on THEIR time. Im the client paying for their very healthy and top 1% lifestyle. Just another casualty (pun intended) of the political-medical complex. So sad.

TLDR: If youre not a current patient, be prepared to wait at least 38 days for an appointment. Long Version: I reached out to this doctors office seeking a primary care physician. I attempted to schedule an appointment with this doctor October 11. I was given an appointment for November 4 (24 days later). On November 1st I attempted to call to confirm the appointment, but was informed that the entire office was on lunch, so I would have to call back later. A few minutes later I received a text message with the confirmation details that I was looking for. On November 2nd I got an appointment confirmation call with only options to cancel the appointment. I did not cancel. On November 4, I went to fill out my appointment information online from the link provided in the text. I was informed at this point that my appointment had been cancelled. I called in a panic to figure out what had happened, it was 12:30 PM, and my appointment was supposed to be for 1:20 PM. Of course the entire office was out to lunch and I was unable to connect. At 12:53 PM they answered the call. I was informed that my appointment was cancelled by me. When I question how/why that had happened, I was informed that I had cancelled it via e-mail by replying No. I didnt receive the e-mail, and in fact theyd gotten my e-mail wrong. I was pretty frustrated, and was told that they would have confirmed the cancellation via phone call or text, which I definitely never received. At that point I asked how they could make this right, whether they could find an appointment or even find a time outside of normal hours to fix this problem caused by the offices error. I was told that I could reschedule for Nov 18 (14 more days). I didnt think that this was reasonable given that Id already waited 24 days, and that the error was the fault of the office. I asked if they could squeeze me in, and I was informed that the Dr was leaving at 2:30 PM today. I suggested that they should consider calling me with the next cancelled appointment and that I would take it. I was informed that they wouldnt do that for someone that they had an established relationship with, so it would be ridiculous to do it for a new patient, clearly making a point to remind me that Im not an existing patient. It was at this point that I described the situation as Totally $#%@ed, and hung up. Were done. I dont like swearing on the phone like that, but yall definitely got me there. Note: I left this same review on the doctor Id tried to schedule with.

Our family has been going to him for 3 years and we have always been very happy with the care and followup he and the other drs. provide. My husband almost got sepsis from another specialist when he had a toenail removed. Dr Hamiltons office was available 24/7 and made him an emergency appointment. I cannot give them 0 stars per Google, so I am giving them a 1 on 5. After being a regular in this clinic for over 6 years, I have finally decided to move on. This is why - they have always, and always - only cared about billing. The biggest scam that they run (and I cannot believe it took me 6 years to figure this out) - is the free annual physical that they spread out over TWO appointments that are a must. They then proceed to charge your insurance, take a payment on the spot, and 5 out of the 6 times the insurance will come back with partial coverage and they will harass you with letters 3x a week and collection agencies and phone calls to get that money back. This happens on BOTH the visits for the wellness exam. Heres my issue - I have a top of the line insurance policy, and all the money to pay them what they say my dues are (in this case, $130 for my first visit, then a $27 due post that visit, then a $23 due post my 2nd visit). However, do I trust the billing department to code them right so the insurance covers it? Hell no. There is NO way an annual checkup with nothing else added on to it should cost nearly $200 in doctor fees. And should I even get started with the billing department and Andrea? Absolute Bogus - trust the detailed reviews on this place, especially related to billing issues and please avoid this business on all costs.

While I am not providing feedback on the medical aptitude of their clinicians, I was put off by their blatant overcharging. I consider it to be borderline unethical. My husband went in our his annual physical. The practice requires 2 visits (outdated and inconvenient) and we now realize this is simply an additional way for them to bill patients for extra fees. All in all- he only saw a physican asst. Spent less than 30 mins total between the 2 visits. Our insurance covers 100% of wellness exams but the clinic decided to tack on additional office visit charges of $215.32. This was in ADDITION to what our insurance reimbursed them. Insurance paid them $210.61 and provided them with an adjustment of $253.93. If that isnt excessive, what is? The billing manager was curt and unhelpful. All in all, this practice prioritzes maximizing their fees over their patient wellness and satisfaction. Please be aware.

I really do like the PAs at this place but thats about the only thing. Lately especially (maybe because of COVID) it seems all they are about is charging you for tele-visits. My daughter needed blood work done recently then I got a call that I needed to immediately schedule a tele-visit to go over the lab results. So of course I did as it seemed like the REALLY needed to go over something with us. Got on the visit and was told, there was nothing of concern in the blood work then was asked to call and make the payment for the visit. The whole thing lasted 3 minutes tops and I was charged $180!! Why if there is nothing in the blood work is that not a phone call saying there is nothing abnormal to discuss?? Which by the way is how theyve handled it in the past. Same thing happened on routine prescription refills which I normally dont have to have a visit for, I was told to schedule a tele-visit to review the refills when I asked why they have been refilled in the past without an appointment they didnt have an answer for me. All just a money grab in my opinion too bad too, they have good people over there.

My wife went to them for 6 years, every time she went told them I have ulcer and cannot take aspirin. What do they do, give her a medicine that ripped up her stomach for days. When I look it up on web MD, first thing it said was NOT to take if you have an ulcer! What the hell, called the Nurse the next day and they said we do not have any record that she has an ulcer!, I been with her in the office many times when said has told them repeatably. Told them they are fired as our medical provider! I would never recommend them! Horrible documentation how can you have patient that long and know nothing about them... total FAIL!

I wish I could give this place negative stars. Andrea (who I assume is in billing) is quite possibly the rudest, most snooty person I have ever talked to. She should be ashamed of the way she treats people. They nickel and dime you to death. You pay your copay (for something like a medication refill) then you can count on getting a bill for an additional $10, $20+ in the mail. Their two part wellness visit is a joke and a scam to make money (literally no one does this). This place is money hungry which is sad because they do have some really good doctors and PAs. It is true that they drop patients for owing small amounts of money that were billed erroneously to begin with. No one seems happy who works there. No one smiles or is friendly. There are too many good physicians to be treated this way. Read through their owner responses. They are condescending and not sincere at all. Warmest Regards!

I have had a terrible experience with this office. They are a billing machine and find ways to generate revenue at your expense. I have good insurance benefits and I ve never had these types of balances pop up anywhere before. They are very rude and have been incorrect on billing so you really have to watch what you re paying for. It is not worth dealing with them. Never been treated like this and if you want a Dr s office who cares about your actual care then continue looking for another office.

I m always surprised at how blatantly rude the front desk staff is. I mean they really, really don t pull any punches. One woman gives me a death stare anytime I so much as imply that something doesn t work for me. She s an older African American woman. If you ve been here you know. At any rate this place doesn t provide good care and since being primary care physicians isn t the most lucrative field of practice this office has figured out a system to rake in tons of cash. Little background about me, I managed primary care facilities so I know. The first thing that was off putting is their 2 part new check up. Yes. You literally have to make TWO trips to this office for a simple check up. And this is billed at $600-700 per visit. And they will ALWAYS try to make you leave with a new prescription. It s two fold. One because writing a Rx during an office visit allows the doctor to immediately upcode the level of care meaning billing more $$$ to you & your insurance company and second they will force you to be seen TWICE a year. Most practices only want to see you once annually even if you re on maintenance meds. And remember, you HAVE to do your check up in 2 visits so this is 4 office visits they get to charge per year. Add that to the enormous patient load they have and it s really just a money mill. I looked at my explanation of benefits and saw for a simple less than 20 min appt they billed $700 to my insurance. My husband also talked about how the doctor felt more like a used car salesman forcing meds on him and forcing a high blood pressure diagnosis. It s a widely known fact that arriving in office your BP might be elevated from stress, rushing in the commute, etc. Another issue is if you don t schedule your second appointment they will NEVER release the results of your blood work or any other testing. It s an enormously ignorant thing to do. Not to mention the massive waste of time to drive to their office, sit for 20 min, called to the back and wait some more and finally see the doctor to be told blood work looks good. No abnormalities . It s extremely inconsiderate of patients time and extremely greedy. Don t go here. There are too many better options.

I told her about my situation and why I was looking to get in to Family Medicine Associates of Texas for the first time (I was asked to leave my pediatrician due to my age) and she laughed at me... For someone who answers phones, that s probably not the best policy to take a condescending tone with a potential patient. Her actions made me feel uncomfortable about following through with an appointment, so I don t think I ll ever be going here.

One of if not the best Family Medicine Groups I have ever been to. I like the fact they actually care about your time and strive really hard and do an excellent job in getting you in to see the Dr. in a timely manner. I believe they strive for a 5 minute policy where they do not want you to have to wait more than 5 minutes. I have been to Doctors where I have sat hours and hours to be seen even with an appointment. Not hear. Normally about 5 minutes in chairs and then the longest wait will be to see the Dr. and probably averages 10 minutes to be completely honest. I think the worst wait I ever had was about 20 minutes and they had an emergency come in is the reason why. I see Dr. Moran and I give him an A++ rating along with all the polite and friendly staff.

UPDATE: After reading my review their office called me to see if I wanted to come in for them to run a few more tests. I told them no thanks. Im done with your office and will be looking for another doctor. They hung up the phone in my face! No bye or sorry to hear that, just click. Thanks for confirming I made the right choice! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I ve been going here for more than 8 years and that was 8 years too long. It s fine as long as you re healthy but God forbid something is wrong and these guys become completely incompetent. After the birth of my child I had significant pain in my abdomen. I saw my doctor and she ordered an extra scan which costs me more than $600 out of pocket. After which she then said the results didn t show anything and to just wait a month to see if the pain would just go away . Well a month later I was still in pain and a friend recommended i go see a different doctor. I went to my OBGYN and provided them with the scan results. They ran a few tests and diagnosed the problem in 1 visit and helped get me the help I needed. I called my general doctor at this place to tell her the diagnosis from my OB and she said oh, well I m glad they figured it out. Angry I stayed at this facility but switched doctors. My first clue this new doc wouldn t be any better was when she diagnosed me as having low Vitamin D. I told her that she used the wrong test for me because I m African American and studies have shown there is a different test that needed to be run. She said she had never heard of that so I forwarded her the medical article I was referencing. The article clearly states that the current Vitamin D test used by most physicians is flawed and often leads to a misdiagnosis for African Americans . Her reply... oh well, too much Vitamin D won t hurt so just take it anyway. Fast forward she later prescribes me a medicine. After 2 weeks I started hallucinating. I thought I was losing my mind so I googled the prescription. Turns out hallucinations are a common side effect of this drug in women my age. I immediately stopped it. After 3 days the hallucinations finally stopped. When I told her about it she said oh, well glad you stopped taking it . No I m sorry or well let s try this instead . Nothing. Fast forward... I ve been experiencing serious back pain for about a month. She ran some blood work and had her assistant call me with the results. The results? everything looked fine. I asked her assistant what was the next step. She just repeated that the blood work looked fine and that if I wanted to talk to the doctor again I would need to make an appointment and pay a co-pay. Seriously?! These guys are a bunch of crocks AND a bunch of crooks. Oh, and like many of the other reviews, their billing is the worst. My last time at checkout the lady flat out said oh, sometimes they forget to charge you for something and then they find it later and then they bill you. I m sorry - what?!

No issues with the office staff. Everything seems to run smoothly. Theyve updated their clinic, its nice. I see Marla Lehmann, who is very sweet and who is always spot on for diagnoses. Blood work is a little extra money, but you should always expect that it will be. Most insurances dont include it in the co-pay. They will bill you. Not a big deal. Overall very happy with Family Medicine Associates. Ive been coming for years. I will suggest you see only the doctors highly recommended in these reviews though - I once saw Bethany who was very nasty to me, and another doctor (cant remember her name) who was very pushy and decided to run every blood test in the book for me for a simple diagnosis.

I left a similar review on Baylor Medical Health Center (which is the emergency care facility this place is housed in). I called in, just trying to get a doctors appointment for my conditions (chronic chest pain, difficulty breathing) and was referred to go directly to the hospital. They would not let me make an appointment. I do not care anymore. I have received many MANY years of horrible service here, starting from my early childhood. I first came here after a visit from MHMR as a child of three years. I was prescribed Adderall, which is essentially meth in a legal pill form. Doctor Hamilton kept me on that every day (except weekends, I needed to EAT sometime) until I was fourteen. I had episodes every Sunday (the day I hit my withdrawals) of violence, and MY FATHER had to determine the source of the issue. I was taken off the Adderall, and never had another episode since. Doctor Hamilton also didnt seem to care that I had these episodes. I eventually became depressed and withdrawn. I came here when I had my first heart attack, and they blew it off, saying that the ABNORMAL HEARTBEAT from the EKG was a computer error. Im done with this medical facility.

Lucky for me, i only have some vitamin deficiency. Every time i come in i have to pay a copay then more follow up, and more copay. I think it is unnecessary charges. My insurance covers 100%, however Family Medicine decides to bill as an office visit, therefore my co-pay kicks in. 1st part was lab. The Nurse Practitioner asked how I was doing and briefly stated I was in the process of moving. That apparently warrants as a office visit AND a physical - all because I was asked 1 simple question. 2nd part of my physical was 2 days later. Discussed my labs, all good. Decided ON THEIR OWN to submit a prescription so AGAIN, warrants as an office visit. If you choose to stay; DONT TALK! They will bill you for it. Cancelled the rest of my appointment and will be looking for a new place with more dignity.

My doctor of 15 years is great. Management has gotten shady over the years, if you go in for a routine visit they figure out a way to bill you for SOMETHING, they WILL get an office visit fee out of you every time. 1. Routine annual exam- theyre write you a prescription for something outside of the physical so office visit it needed. 2. Physicals are broken down into two visit, only the second visit is covered under the physical. If you send a letter to your doctor in the mail to complain, the front throws the letter away so your doctor never gets it. Once I posted my poor review on Facebook, I received over 10 similar service stories from my neighbors.
