I doubt if the owner ate their own food recently. The yaki udon is super sweet, and the sushi are not very impressive. With the same price I will just go to Yama Sushi in Plano where provides much better food and atmosphere.

Weve eaten here twice, and the rolls and miso soup were great both times. The staff is really friendly. The restaurant is nice, and the location is convenient. I dug the Red River Roll with added jalapenos. Pro move if I say so myself. Great sushi!

We were craving sushi and decided to order at this place (through door dash). I paid 75$ and could not have been any more disappointed. We had 4 sushi rolls and some noodles with chicken. The amount you get for your money is ridiculous. They shoved 3 of our rolls in one medium sized to go box. You get 8 pieces tops, and they are so small. If I pay that much money, I expect it to be a little more than a mouth full. The taste was average, and it didnt even come with any wasabi or gari. It looked so cheap. The noodles barely have any chicken in it, only cabbage. I sure wont order here again; it is not worth the money.

I spent 27 dollars at this place and left hungry. The service was very slow, yet the rolls came out looking like they took only a few minutes to make. It felt like their wasnt even any ac in the restaurant. The quality of the food was average at best, and the quality of the wasabi and soy sauce were both horrible. The attached photo is all I got for 27 dollars. For that same price I could go to another place to get more food at a better or similar quality or even go to my local Walmart and get much more than what i got here and if made fresh, of much better flavor and quality. There are many, many places to get sushi in Carrollton, and I advise you to not waste your money here and instead go somewhere else.

The menu seems to have changed a bit since they first opened, so I was almost worried when we came by today and my old favorite wasn t on the menu anymore. 4/5 or 8/10. Okay so they don t have anything on the menu that says Bento . Which is weird considering their name. They have several dishes and their sushi is fair priced & delicious, but again there are no Bentos on the menu listed, so we were really thrown off by that. My wife and I had passed it several times and kept thinking we love Japanese bentos and would love to have one, so we dropped in on a Sunday. The waitress and chef were very kind and the food was delicious. We were just let down by the fact that there were no Bentos at all listed on the menu. So if you are excited for a bento, don t come looking here lol. For good sushi, this is a great place which is what we ate.

Went to Suben on a Sat. night with my husband, no one was in the restaurant, a sweet young lady greeted us. It was 30 minutes before they closed. A tall man from the back that I assume was the cook walked out and looked at us funny and spoke a different language then what we understood. The waitress who greeted us hesitated to tell us where to sit. We asked if they were still open, and everything was ok for us to sit, the man proceeded to say something else, and she apologized and told us they were closed. Guess they do not need the business on a Sat. night! We were wanting to try them out and would have given a good review IF we could have ordered something?! Parking: Not much more to say.

I adore this place. If I lived closer Id be going more often. It hasnt disappointed yet and the staff is sweet and quick. Anything off the menu is great and the quality is consistent as well. -Edit: Im so sad to say its not as good under new management. It was very mediocre. Before the food blew me away but now it just tasted like particularly good grocery store sushi. Definitely not bad but just way lower quality than before. My toes remain uncurled :(

They re now under new management and they have removed my favorite item (lion king roll) and increased their prices significantly. Under new management and has seriously decreased in quality. They got rid of 2 things I always ordered - the Angry Wife roll and the Salmon Lover set. Also they do not have poke or sushi burritos anymore (so dont try to order those). Prices have drastically increased; what I loved about this place before was the sushi quality and the price. Decided to give them a shot anyway tonight and ordered 4 rolls. THEY DID NOT USE SUSHI RICE FOR A SINGLE ROLL. That is step one for sushi, very basic. They only used plain white rice with sesame seeds on top. Extremely disappointed. This has been my go to sushi place in the area since they opened, but I do not think Ill be going back.

Was craving sushi for lunch and this was the closest to work with decent reviews. Quaint, small dine in or to-go. I sat down and in just a few minutes had my drink and 8 min later my sushi. I ordered a custom spicy tuna w/ creme cheese so it was a $1 upcharge, otherwise 1 single roll, which is 8 pieces and more than enough would have been under $7. Cant beat that for fresh sushi. It has a good taste. Nothing fancy. Very well sushi. Good service because midway through they checked to see if everything was ok. I would come back here. The restaurant was quiet when I came but still friendly and fast service. Unlike previous review I was not served on a paper paper. Great small local place.

Ok so I had already eaten 5 pieces (half of it) before taking a breath lol it s amazing. I always get the miso soup and it never disappoints. They pair the fish so well together and its really great quality fish at a perfect cut. Avocado roll with cream cheese + cucumber was also amazing. Highly recommend. 10 stars. The sushi chef is amazing Super fun place. The sushi is good, and the atmosphere borrows from modern Asian culture. Family friendly. Now sushi + sashimi bento with the rainbow roll was exquisite. The mouthfeel was crunchy, smooth, soft, yet had bite. Prices are fair and the food is beyond delicious and fresh, you re destined to be spellbound by this journey to SUBEN.

Just ordered through Grubhub and picked up $70 worth of food. Lots to say but to keep it short, it would be my first and last time for this place. Sushi was okay at best. The quality is like the ones from grocery stores. Bland taste, no freshness what so ever and it has some weird taste to it really. Hibach I got steak Hibach and it was a joke. Local, Quiet and fast serving sushi spot. The Heart Attack appetizer was not spicy at all but Im guessing that changes depending on the jalapenos at the time. We ordered the HaKo, Temptation, and Lion King rolls. These were all very tasty but lion king was not spicy either. They have board games you can play while you dine. We had a fun time playing checkers. Service was fast. Great overall value! Spent less than $60 with tip included. Laura was friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back and try more!

Suben is a small, simple sushi restaurant with good sushi. I had the Yellowtail Tornado Tempura and Robo-Roll and they were really good. They are about as spicy as you would expect. Not very crowded at lunch on Wednesday. There are full dividers at the register and food prep area and tables are wiped down between customers. The staff was very friendly.

I went here today (10.22.2021) and ordered the Miss Hebron Roll. Before he handed me my order I asked if there was soy sauce in the bag. The guy said that there was and he ll add one more so he put another one in the bag. I get home, sit down to eat my food, and there s only ONE packet of soy sauce in my bag (total). Did the other packets disappear? Did he lie? That s so annoying. The sushi roll is decent, but I don t appreciate them being stingy with the soy sauce. That s ridiculous. IF I go back, I ll definitely stand there and open the bag before I walk out.

UPDATE: Ive since tried the Crunch Roll and the Temptation Roll, and the appetizer Steamed Gyoza- all were fantastic portions & tasted delicious and fresh. Love this place! I have to eat here at least once month! The miso soup is the best Ive ever had. The Red River Roll is excellent, Id bet everything is. They also have a really varied menu, and everything is pretty customizable on their website. Ingredients always seem really fresh & high quality, beautiful presentations, great portions, and awesome prices. Small sushi and bento shop serving absolutely delicious, well made sushi. We found this place as a deal offer that had multiple offerings, so we tried 5 rolls, both of us hungry and eager to stuff ourselves. All five rolls we had were well wrapped, flavorful, and presented beautifully, even in the to-go boxes we requested. The miso soup was also delicious and we drank the whole bowls without pause, slurping quickly because it was hot, but delicious. I would highly recommend coming here as they take great pride in what they do. Feel free to linger and play some board games they offer too! Seating is limited so keep that in mind. I m trying all the small businesses around my house and this was next on the list. I want to say, I don t get the hype. The music was really loud when we came in to order which made me go from dining in to taking home. Not the best for sitting and enjoying a meal, but to each their own. I also wasn t satisfied with the size of the rolls compared to other sushi places I ve been. Maybe I ve been used to the rolls at my favorite spot down the street, but this just missed the mark. The taste was good but not WOW. My teenager loved the bento box, so I ll take that as a win.

My 3rd visit. You folks in Carrilton have a GEM IN YOUR BACKYARD. I travel 35 Mike s for this great selection of sushi and chicken dishes to die for. The tempura is wonderful. The service is super. The prices are excellent value foe delicious food for lunch or dinner

This place charges way too much for what you get! Never order extra of anything because you wont get it and when you call to tell them to see why your extra food was not put in your bag. They make up some lame excuse saying it was added to the box the rest of your food is already in. So all I can say is save your money!

WOW WOW WOW! The miso soup and suben volcano roll are absolutely delicious. The girl that waited on us was, as usual, so nice and she is so dang good at her job. She has w.way of making u feel at home as soon as you walk in. I cannot say enough about thia place. And if u want to try it but u are on a budget there are Groupon offers to help you save money!

As I sat eating my dinner, I am amazed at how delicious the food is. Absolutely the best in Carrollton. The hospitality is wonderful. You feel welcomed the second you walk in the door. You can easily over eat here because when the food is that good, you just want more and more. No more searching for a good sushi place to eat. Portions are awesome. The price is right as well. I love it when I get what I pay for. Yummy!!! Brie

This place is amazing!!!! I have ordered their food twice off Uber Eats and each time, it taste very good. Best Miso soup around the DFW and their rice in the sushi is seasoned great. I will be a returning customer when I want sushi!

I usually don t leave reviews but this place.. is LITERALLY so good! Just moved here from the other state and so I ve been kinda exploring good food places here and this place is THE ONE. If you re looking for somewhere with an incredible quality of food for an affordable price, there would be nowhere else better than here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Both the bentos and the sushi rolls are top notch. It is localized for the American customer base but what it might lack in authenticity in no way diminishes my enjoyment of the food. Service is also very friendly and polite!

Never thought about Japanese food coming to Carrollton. First visit here made me realize that this is a good thing. We are Texas knuckleheads and the sushi held little interest. But the young lady at the register was patient and intent on my making an informed choice: service A. The cooks were very intent on presentation and the food quality was very good: food A. Price is relative. When the quality is there, the cost is immaterial. (The tofu alone was terrific. Hope I can buy a bucketful next time). Thank you!

Very friendly and very quick. Only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is that our to-go order didn t come with chopsticks and typically when we order bento boxes, 2-4 pieces of sushi comes with it. These bento boxes do not.

The bento was delicious. I actually ordered like 5 different bentos to try and ate everything (I usually don t finish the whole portion of food). The fried rice was yummy, the veggies were not overcook. The price is very good. I will stop by again to try other food on the menu.

I came here with my family to try out this new sushi and bento place, and I can confidently say, that we will be coming back here more often. We ordered Chicken and Steak Bento, and the meat, fried rice, as well as the other condiments in the box was phenomenal. We also tried the Angry Wife, Princess, Las Vegas, Volcano, and Giant California rolls and, not surprisingly, they were also very good and fresh. As a customer, the employees were very kind and asked if we needed anything. They also gave us complimentary miso soup, which my family and I were thankful to get. Overall, I give this restaurant 5 stars for its excellent service, employees, and food!

I have eaten here several times since it opened and havent found one thing I didnt love eating. If you love Hibachi steak or chicken the bento is fantastic! Great atmosphere, clean, and the family that runs the place is fantastic! Definitely recommend stopping by and giving it a try.
